Mandy, Dr. Ryan, and the entire team were fabulous with the kids! I loved how they involved the kids in their own appt, giving choices, and respecting them so nicely! I commented on it and Dr. Ryan said they are trained in the Nurtured Heart way. A+++ experience from booking, to appointment time management, to involving the kids and providing a fun experience! I also appreciate the exam explanation and findings. Recommending them to everyone! (I found Lumen by asking on a mom’s Facebook page, and many families have already experienced their amazing care!)

Dr. Ryan + the whole Lumen team are AMAZING. We live in North Fargo and happily travel to be seen by Lumen Vision! Welcoming environment, clean space + professional. My daughter is shy, but comes out of her shell when Dr. Ryan see's her. Lots of games, tricks + fun. Dr. Ryan does a great job of explaining too! Would definitely recommend!

I would highly recommend Dr. Ryan & the staff at Lumen Vision! They were all very friendly & answered all of my questions.. I had a lot of questions. Lumen Vision has new modern equipment. One perk of having new technology was that I could return to work after a full eye exam. No more dilating my eyes; they have the equipment to take a digital picture, which will always be in my file & they didn't have to put any chemicals in my eyes to get the picture. If you want to go to a state of the art eye clinic with staff that listen & care, go to Lumen Vision.

My 2 year old doesn’t love going to the doctors and being examined so I was worried how we would be able to check is eye for “lazy eye”. Dr. Ryan and his staff are absolutely amazing!!! We went to see Dr. Ryan at Lumen Vision in April. We had previously seen another optometrist thinking our son needed glasses since he was having trouble walking, jumping, and anything that required balance. That first optometrist saw he had a prescription, but wanted to wait another year or so for glasses. We didn't feel right about that. So a friend referred us to Dr. Ryan. At his first eye exam, he seemed very near sighted to Dr. Ryan- which was unusual for a kid his age. Dr. Ryan thought it may be a reflex issue. He referred us to a wonderful OT. After 5 months of therapy, he has amazing eye sight. He went from a -1 to a +1. No glasses for our boy! Without Dr. Ryan's hunch that something else may be up with JJ, he would not be having the successes he's having now. We also may have gone years before discovering Jensen had coordination and sensory issues, as well as how to meet his unique needs. We love our sweet boy, wobbly legs and all. And we're grateful for the team at Lumen who listened to our concerns, and didn't jump the gun to just give him a prescription. Dr. Ryan's knowledge, beyond that of what I've seen from typical optometrists, is above and beyond. 🙌

The experience that my kids had here at Lumen Vision was beyond exceptional. Not only did Dr. Ryan find and fix the issues that my kid's eyes had he also made it really fun for them and made it so that they wanted to go back. I wish I could give Lumen Vision more than 5 stars! We had the best experience with Dr. Ryan and his entire staff. I went as a new patient for my annual exam and brought my 2 year old daughter for her first exam which I was extremely nervous about. We just moved here from out of state so I didn’t know what to expect. I want to start off by describing the office setting. It was very clean, bright, and there were so many beautiful eyewear options displayed. There was a really nice inviting waiting area and even a little nook for the kiddos that my 2 year old was obsessed with. The front desk staff were extremely nice and professional so I had a good feeling immediately. When it was time for our exams everyone was so patient with my daughter. I was nervous she would be afraid or wouldn’t want to do some of the tests (which she was) and I could tell they did everything to make her comfortable and give her a good experience to build on for next time. They gave her a little stuffed otter to hold onto and she thought that was the coolest thing because she was able to see the otter get his “tests” done too. They didn’t force anything on her and let her warm up to the idea of the exam. When it was time to see Dr. Ryan he did absolutely amazing with her! In fact, ever since we have gotten home she has been pretending to be the “eye doctor” giving her own exams. I just can’t say enough good things about our experience!

To make a long story short, Dr. Ryan and his team discovered that my son’s eyes were not tracking the way that they should. After intensive eye therapy, my son is well on his way to catching up. Dr. Ryan is so incredible with our whole family. He takes the time with each child to explain things to them and make them feel special. He is also very thorough while still leaving a bit of time for fun....making car/motorcycle noises while you hang onto the machine as he checks your eyes, fun socks, and terrible "dad" jokes to name a few things. Dr. Ryan and his whole team are also always willing to let the kids push the buttons, try the different machines, and just be kids. He is also always available by text for emergencies to his patients which is reassuring when kids are kids. Dr. Ryan and the team at Lumen Vision are the best and the only people I trust to take care my family's eye health.

Lumen Vision is seriously the best! We moved here in June and honestly it's one of the most friendliest businesses we've been to in Fargo. My son had a lot of problems with reading to which we almost wondered if he had dyslexia. I don't remember the full conversation that we had with Dr. Ryan but he gave us a brochure about vision therapy during my son's annual vision exam. My husband and I thought about it for a few days and figured we might as well try it. I'm sooooo glad we did. I've never heard of vision therapy before so I was sceptical but it is now ten weeks later and my son is doing so much better with reading and can differentiate letters so much better. Insanely better. He is now so proud of himself when he reads and is a lot more focused than he was before. Dr. Ryan is fun, kind, and SO amazing with kids. The entire staff is awesome! I definitely recommend coming here!

I took my 4 year old son in for his first eye exam and all I can say is wow! I am so unbelievably impressed! From the receptionists, to Nurse Mandy, who came out and played with my son in the waiting area before bringing him back, all the way to Doctor Ryan. We have had three children go through vision therapy at Lumen vision. I have been impressed and grateful each time. Every kid is different we found, and the staff were very supportive and encouraging through each one’s strengths and weaknesses. My boy's eyes have maintained and surpassed abilities gained through vision therapy a few years back. Headaches during school time are gone for them. My daughter just finished and I am excited to see what possibilities open for her now that her eyes are working more with her brain. I'm so glad I found Lumen Vision! My first experience was to fill a prescription for eye glasses after having cataract surgery. The staff was very friendly and very accommodating in working with me on my insurance plan. Several months later, over the recent holiday, I had an issue with my eyes and called the morning of Dec 31 to see if Dr Ryan could see me. They got me in on an urgent care basis yet that morning. After diagnosing it and sending me on my way with some prescriptions, he texted later that day to see how I was progressing. Dr Ryan and his staff are all very caring, professional and friendly. I would highly recommend them.

Vision Therapy at Lumen Vision has been life changing for our family! Several of our kids have dyslexia but two in particular were still struggling after years of hard work. Vision therapy addressed their eye tracking issues, eye strain, headaches and fatigue and now that their eyes are stronger, they are making much better progress. We are also grateful that therapy was covered by our medical insurance. Dr Ryan and all the staff are wonderful to work with. Highly recommend!

The office is super clean and inviting, his staff is courteous, professional, but also super friendly and make you feel like you are valued as a customer. Dr. Ryan is great. He made my annual checkup super easy. They use a lot of high end technology that cuts out a lot of the uncomfortable parts of a checkup that you may be accustomed to at other offices. He was super knowledgeable and took time to explain the important parts of eye health, but also make the visit to the point - which is important if you are using a lunch break to sneak in an appointment during the work day. They also have a great selection of frames if you are looking for a new set of glasses! 10/10 would recommend Lumen Vision to anyone!

My 7 yr old adamantly refuses to have her eyes dilated so every yr it is a struggle to get her to an eye dr. They have only been able to check her vision. This is the first yr that her eye health has been checked along with her vision bcz this eye clinic and dr uses a special machine to take a picture of the eye which means no dilating. He is very thorough and explained everything that was going to happen with my daughter and even let her choose what he was going to do next. He explained to her what the different parts of the eye was from the pics of the eye scan and how they functioned and also on a model of the eye he had in he is office. He explained what each machine and Instrument does and when it was time for my eye appt he let her help with different parts of the exam and he even included my 3 yr old. He made the appointment fun and interesting and I was surprised when I saw we had been in his office for an hr it felt like 15 min. His office is clean, bright and modern the customer service is exceptional but the best part is my kids loved being there and my 7 yr old said she couldn’t wait to get her eyes checked again.
