Staff is great! Dr. Pennino was wonderful. She took the time to examine my eyes thoroughly and extended herself to make sure the eyewear and prescription was the right one for me. While I work on a computer all day, she made sure distance was correct and compared the old frames distance to the new prescription. I will be back! =)

Really like this competent and friendly, local, independent practice. Dr. Sung is very thorough and she and everyone in the office is friendly and nice to deal with. I am very cautious and felt comfortable with their COVID protocols. Definitely recommend them. I had a very good experience with my visit to the Del Rey Optometry. From the staff that opens the door, signs me in, the technicians that do the pre-exam testing, the doctor and the help with deciding the new frames, all were very friendly and explained and answered all my questions I had. Very patient (which made the visit more comfortable) and with my lack of understanding of the eye and the problems that might arise. They show concern and made me understand the future problems I might have and for me to keep up with my future exams before things get worse with no return of my eye sight if I do not take seriously the need to have my check ups. Overall, friendly and patient which means a lot for me.

I recently went and the lab they work with lost one pair of glasses and broken my main pair of glasses. The two assistants and the front desk person were also friendly and courteous. They’ve had an assistant in the past that was overly pushy like a sales guy, but I didn’t see him there. When I mentioned that I had to leave soon to make another appointment, they respected that and I did not have to sit around and wait (I’ve had to do that there in the past.) I can not tell stress how great and helpful this optometry is. I can in to town and the airline lost my overnight bag with my contacts and glasses. After calling a dozen locations this place was the only one with contacts in stock. They saw me right away and gave me replacements. They are very helpful and nice staff. Great service.

They have helped me choose frames many times and have given me sound advice. Del Rey takes my VSP insurance and offers discounts whenever possible. I am able to drop in to have my frames tightened or adjusted whenever necessary. They are followng ALL COVID protocols and I feel safe when I am there. I've used them for at least six years and even though I could use Kaiser optometry, I do not. I am more than satisfied with Del Rey. They are knowledgeable and professional.

Every possibility explained, all in full detail, no one pushed for the more expensive options and in the end I left feeling like I have been fully taken care of. First time at this optometry practice and I was very pleased. The optometrist took time to help me decide on a strategy for the type of eyeglasses I need. Even though it was closing time, the optician helped me choose a pair of glasses without rushing me. Although the shop is small, they have a good selection of eyewear available. The other staff members are so friendly. Very good vibes in this practice. They all wear masks and have hand sanitizer available, and are only letting people into the office if they have appointments. So it feels very safe.

With COVID-19 many of us are concerned about contracting the virus and are delaying doctor visits for many months.. Let me state that the entire staff is concerned about our safety and theirs as well. They take all steps and precautions to ensure every one's good health. They only allow entry to their shop to people with appointment. Then check your temperature and ask questions to screen your current condition. I had my annual check up and before I could enter the testing areas they disinfect all chairs, machines surfaces and disinfect upon my departure. Quality and knowledgable staff that totally cares about your health! A very happy customer.

Update. 4/17/21 The team at Del Rey Optometry have done an excellent job implementing COVID-19 safety protocols, from the time you enter the store until you leave. Everything and everyone is physically distanced and sanitized. To echo what others have said, Dr. Lin is one of the most knowledgeable and professional optometrist in the industry. Del Rey Optometry has easy to schedule appointments with a variety of appointment times including after work (6pm) and Saturday appointments. This year my appointment was quick but thorough, in and in less than a hour. With, little to no waiting time. No need for new frames or lenses this year, so I can't comment on their current frame selection but last year they had an excellent selection of frames and were speedy with glasses turn around. Excellent customer service, very little waiting time. I highly recommend Del Rey Optometry. Plus, you can book appointments online!

The doctors and staff are friendly. During COVID, they are having everyone call when they arrive so they can be asked screening questions. Their doors are locked and they will only let you in if you pass the screening questions and temperature check. This made me feel so much safer as most places let you in and than screen you!

I have been a patient of Dr. Sung's for several years now and could not recommend her more highly. I have a very complicated prescription, and she takes the time to tweak it to make sure we are correcting my vision as well as we can. With the pandemic, the practice has stepped up to the challenge of maintaining their quality of service with added precautions. You must: wear a mask at all times; call the office from the parking lot when you arrive; have your temp taken and confirm you have no COVID symptoms before entry. All machines and surfaces are disinfected and there are plexiglass barriers between you and staff. Yes, you do have to sit in the chair in an exam room with the doctor, but they leave the door open for circulation and the doctor is masked. She primarily makes adjustments to the machine ("1? or 2?") via the computer, several feet away. I felt very safe and still recommend without doubt.

There are two locations for Del Rey Optometry. Although the Marina del Rey location is closer for us, we prefer to go to the Playa del Rey location because of Dr. Ivy Lin. She is very personable, shows her caring and concern for the entire family, and professional. Since I am diabetic, she has to do my yearly diabetes exam and puts together a write-up for my physician. Additionally, the optician, Lori Mata, does a wonderful job adjusting our glasses and helping us keep our costs down. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
