Staff very friendly and professional. They’re wearing masks made me feel safe and comfortable. I found perfect glasses off the clearance rack and was offered assistance with getting my bill paid. There wasn’t any long wait time and my glasses are in early. All around great experience. Oh and the doctor explained some very important things in detail that I needed to know.

My experience at Dr Tavel was very professional and the staff was helpful also friendly. My examination offered alot of information on what was going on with my sight and an explanation of what prescription would be best for my eyes. Dr. Tavel also still implemented covid precautions for staff & customers offering face mask for safety .

Everyone was really wonderful. The front office staff, the ladies who did my eye exams, and Dr Shoemaker (sp?). The reason I really thoroughly enjoyed though was Keiwonnah (sp?). She was so kind and so patient and so funny! She also made sure the charges for the eyewear were properly charged. The computer system did not appear to be properly assigning the right charges based on my insurance. It save me money up front instead of having to wait on a refund. It makes all the difference when your staff not only knows what to do to solve a problem, but takes the initiative to handle it even when the customer doesn’t know there is a problem. I hope she’s there everytime o have to go back. Her personality is contagious.

This was my first time going to Dr. Tavel at this location. All of the staff was friendly and very professional. The eye Dr. talked about everything he was doing step by step, and answered all of my questions. I could tell that he cared about his patients. I learned a lot during the examination about my exam. He even showed me the picture that was taken of my eyes, and pointed out some concerns. I've never experienced that. I'm use to them doing the exam with a little information and sending me on my way. We were running a little late and they made a way to see my whole Family of 4!!! Michelle took care of everything, and she was very patient with my kids as they couldn't decide on the glasses they wanted right away. I would definitely recommend my Family and Friends to go there for their exam and or glasses. They have a variety of nice glasses. The only problem is which glasses to pick. I think that's what took my Girls so long. They had like 4 or 5 pair they kept trying on. If they could, they probably would've gotten all of them!!! They make sure they tell you that the glasses you touch, or even try on that you are not going to get, to put them in the try to be cleaned and disinfected. They were wiping down everything as people were moving from one spot to another. When you walk in, you could see and smell the cleanliness of their office. Everyone had on their masks. I would suggest anyone that go there, to talk to my girl Michelle, she's very helpful, professional, friendly, and down to earth!!! Thanks everyone at Dr. Tavel for all that you do. You are all appreciated!!!

I have been to different Dr. Tavel locations but I have never been so satisfied and happy with my visit in general. This location on east 10th with Dr. Shoemaker it’s been one of the best. I took my two kids, one had his eye exam for the first time and Dr. Shoemaker was very patient with my son, she explained herself very well and was even funny and friendly. Danielle was also very patient with the entire family ( choosing the right frame is not always an easy task with kids 😉). Overall is great experience and I will for sure be camping back.

Excellent! My son recommended Dr. Tavel to me as I had a disappointing experience with my last optometrist. From the first phone call to greeting me at the front door I felt cared about and like I mattered. I recieved text messag reminders of my appointment and there is an online option for patient information for those who want that. The Doctor was caring, kind, and professional -- taking time out to go over some specific things. While the exam doesn't take very long I certainly didn't feel rushed or like they were trying to get me out the door. While choosing my glasses the optician was such a great help. I would definitely recommend.

The staff was very friendly. My husband and I had an issue with the dynamic of the office. Anyone who has sensory issues should know not to go there. There are many, many people talking all at once, they’re playing music, the door chimes twice every time it’s opened. It is a very busy office. There is no real designated areas except for the exams, it’s just a big open space. The exam is broken up into several stages, and even though the eye doctor himself was very precise and thorough, the woman we saw before didn’t really explain things. So I was looking at a light and then all of a sudden it puffed into my eye. I wasn’t expecting that and she didn’t say that’s what was about to happen. It happened again with a red and green light exam. I had never seen the machine before and she gave short to no instructions and we just had to figure it out. Maybe she’s so used to it she didn’t think she needed to explain things but as someone who hadn’t had an appointment in a while, the fact I was rushed through the steps with little instructions or preparation made the process uncomfortable. She was very nice though. We have kids with autism so it is very noticeable to us when an office is not sensory friendly and I wanted to share that with this review so other families knew. Although it should be noted that we didn’t ask for accommodations, this is just based on us moving through the regular exam process. We were pretty overstimulated so we didn’t feel like shopping for glasses after our exams. I think people who don’t mind the noises nor have sensory input issues would have no issue with this office, and again everyone was very friendly.

Took my 10 year old daughter to the Dr. Tavel on 10th and Mitthoepher here in Indy. The staff was very polite ,friendly, and knowledgeable. Our wait time to see the Dr was minimal maybe 5 mins. Iused our insurance to purchase the initial set of glasses. We were informed and showed other glasses on clearance as well. I decided to purchase 2 additional pair out of pocket off the clearance rack,which I was able to put a down payment on and make the rest of the payments monthly. Overall ABSOLUTELY Wonderful Experience and Amazing Staff and Customer service.

The exam people were not super friendly but the female eye doctor I met with at the end was very friendly. This was the first time I had been there. Also, the exam was really quick, but when it came to waiting to pick and order my glasses, it took way longer than it should of. They said they had some issues with the computers and whatnot but it was a really long time. It only took them 5 mins though to get the order put in for my glasses. Total I spent a hour and half there when my appointment was at 3:30pm. I sat waiting for them to put my order in to the computer for a hour alone. Overall, I do definitely recommend going there. They are really nice and I had a good experience there. Thanks DR TAVEL!!

Appointments are booked out about a week ahead. I like that because there is really only a short wait to get all signed in with the front desk..( no long line) They work well with medicaid and medicare . We really liked Lisa because she took great care to make sure we understood the cost and process. We will be going back on her day to pick up are glasses after they are made to insure best fit. The techs and doctors were super friendly and light hearted ... very efficient and took the time to document my Horners syndrome to be sure i get the right eyewear!

Experience was great! The optometrist was so helpful in determining what would really work for me since I cannot adjust to bifocals. Even worked through his lunch time. My boyfriend and I went there to get new glasses for the first time. We had different appointment times because of covid-19. We both picked up our glasses around the same time of the week. When picking up my glasses the receptionist gave me a complimentary spray cleaner with a cloth. The next day when my boyfriend picked his up, he asked for his cleaner and cloth, the same exact receptionist told him it cost $2. Why did she do that? Shouldn't all patients be treated the same way? We won't be going back!

My first pair of glasses was excellent provided me with the distance and intermediate vision I needed. However, I work in IT and that particular pair of glasses did not work so well with closer viewing points because of the small window for that kind of distance which I could attain eventually but with difficulty. I re-scheduled another visit and the Doctor re-evaluated my eye sight but most importantly he listened to what I needed and was trying to achieve with my eye sight. He then tweaked my prescription a little because my vision diagnosis stayed the same after a second test. I received the new pair of tweaked prescription eyeglasses today and I am very, very happy with glasses and I thank them all there for there work and time.

I have recently begun taking my family to this location. I have other family that did not get great service, but I knew they would take our insurance and so I gave it a try. Initially I thought the service was poor. Front desk staff were on their phones on facebook and making personal calls. I said I wasn't going back but I had another child who needed glasses. On my second visit I noticed one person who was taking charge of the front desk and telling people to get off their phones and help the customers. Her name was Evilyn. She helped me in a number of ways. After my daughter lost her glasses, Evilyn helped us get her RX and direct us how to replace them. She worked with me personally to order my glasses despite my not having an appointment. I assumed she was the manager because she was efficient and continued to direct the front desk staff. I've probably been to the office 5 times in the past four months and each time I've been in she is helping the front desk staff solve problems for other customers. Ironically she is not the manager. As a manager myself, I respect an employee going the extra mile. I would love to have an employee with such dedication. Promote her and I think you would have much better reviews. 3 stars for office, 5 stars for Evilyn.

Sleeping with them on, is not neccessarily a good thing for them. But she's always willing to straighten them out. Bless her!!! Everything went like clockwork til my glasses needed adjustment. I went in on a Sunday afternoon, grey haired woman sorting glasses just looked at the frames & said"here's the problem-they're crooked"-excuse me, after at least 3 broken noses & plastic surgery, of COURSE my NOSE is a little crooked-that's why the sidepieces had been originally adjusted somewhat crooked! She didn't pay the least attention-she gave the frames a wrench & claimed they were fixed, tho the lazy overweight @#$! didn't even bother to see what they looked like ON MY FACE! That's 1 woman who sure doesn't need to be working with the public! Its back to WalMart the next time I need new glasses!!!!!!! I hope someone in the Tavel family reads this!
