After my long time doctor retired, I chose this practice because it is very near my home. The website and comments impressed me. They didn't do it justice! I have glaucoma that was advancing, and every single person in this office is so friendly and professional. My doc erred on the side of caution by referring me to a specialist. I feel very cared for and about--not just a not patient to get through quickly. This includes the eyewear department. They didn't even blink about me bringing in 4 pair of glasses for size adjustments. The doctors are amazing and thorough (Dr. Geneva is my assigned doc.) They are happy to work around your schedule, and don't make you feel like you are putting them out because something came up and a switch is needed. The doctors have an assistant in the exam room taking computer notes so that the doc can focus on the exam and you, not the "paperwork". They even take your copay right in the the exam room. Besides that, the office is gorgeous, and has a calming effect. 1000% happy with my new eye doc and so is my husband. Sally :)

I see Dr. Kenyon and have been a patient of his for the last 4 years. One of the best ophthalmologist I’ve seen in this area. Listens, willing to give samples to ensure contacts are the right fit and pricing is pretty average. They stopped accepting my insurance 2 years ago but have given me discounts and rebates to keep my cost down and very similar, if not better, than before. Office staff is very friendly too.

Because I have such a sensitive and skinny nose, it's difficult for me to wear glasses comfortably. You can count on excellent care at West Michigan. While they are very efficient and professional, Dr. Weirenga (sp??) took tons of time to talk to me about my upcoming cataract procedure. I highly recommend him and this office. The only downside is that their frames and glasses are very expensive, but of course you're under no obligation to purchase there.

I've been going here the past 8 years, seeing Dr. Jon Wieringa, and remained even when my new employer's eye insurance didn't participate because the quality of care was so superb and their prices are very reasonable. Highly recommend to anyone. They were able to help me through the preparations to get LASIK letting me know about options, what I could expect as part of the procedure, recommend/refer me to a LASIK specialist, and manage all my follow up care. Throughout the years they've been very helpful for both contacts and eye glasses and a number of minor ocular issues.

Dr. Laura Kenyon has helped me understand a diagnosis, think through treatment options, and is ALWAYS so wonderful. I like her so much that I pay out-of-pocket to see her now that my insurance has changed. I met her husband (also Dr. Kenyon) and he seems helpful and kind as well. Highly recommend this place for your eyecare needs. EDIT: two years later and I still love this place! All of the front desk staff, techs and providers are fabulous. I saw Dr. Wierenga for some eye surgery follow ups and he was AMAZING - super helpful, efficient and kind (he kept saying “you call if you have any questions at all”). Before leaving for an out of town trip, one of my contacts ripped and a piece was suspected to be still in my eye. After trying to get it out myself, I called my eye doctor and he could not see me due to office being closed. They recommended Grand Rapids Opthamolgy, which they told me they would not see me because I wasn't a patient. My doctors office then recommended I try West Michigan Eye Care. The receptionist was very nice and agreed to to talk to the doctor about my case. They agreed to see me and gave me an appointment later that morning. Everyone from the receptionist,the tech, to the doctor were so nice. Going above and beyond to help me. I cannot say enough about how much I appreciated them fitting me into their Friday schedule. And even better, the doctor was able to locate the missing contact piece. I would definitely recommend their office. Thank you again.

I have been paying out of pocket (this office is out of my insurance network) and drive an hour to receive their exceptional services for several years. I do not have one complaint about anything with this office. The office staff is always friendly and always replies promptly no matter what the issue is I'm having. I am a low vision patient and have dealt with my vision challenges since birth. While I've adapted to my disability well, there are areas where I have challenges. I've also found it difficult to find an optometrist who also had a strong background in low vision. About ten years ago after working with our local Association for the Blind, I learned about Laura Kenyon and West Michigan Eyecare and began working with her. I am so thankful that I did. Laura is outstanding, as is every member of the West Michigan Eyecare staff. Laura is very thorough, solution oriented, and has an excellent bedside manner. I have been so impressed that my wife, my mother, my daughter, and my grandmother, all go to West Michigan Eyecare now because of my recommendation! I am also so excited to find out that they have made an even greater commitment to Low Vision. Chris Hedlich, a Low Vision Occupational Specialist and who I knew from the Association for the Blind has joined their staff. I recently met with both Laura and Chris to see if there were any new technologies or practices that could help me with hobbies and other life activities that I'm now finding to be very difficult. Chris was outstanding! She brought her unique background along with Laura's expertise as a clinician, to provide highly personalized solutions to my challenges. I am truly grateful for their assistance and am very excited to finally have a strong Low Vision practice that I believe can rival those in Chicago and other places right here in Grand Rapids. Excellent, Excellent service from the test to fitting the glasses, everyone is kind, professional and honest. These lenses are holding up better than others I have worn with special coatings. Much harder surface and easier to clean. Wonderful place to get glasses. A note two years down the road... The reason I decided to spend three times as much for these glasses than I had been at Costco was the replacement warrantee. Two sets of replacement lenses over two years. I loved the original lenses as I said before. The replacement lenses were softer - easiest to scratch - than any I have ever owned. Yes, I used them and cleaned them the same way. No complaints about the people or the very nice store.

This company really worked hard to help me get the glasses I needed. While you wait to see a doctor they have tea and water for you to enjoy. The staff is very friendly and goes above and beyond for their customers. Originally, I had a problem when my glasses did not turn out the way I need them to due to some miscommunication with a sales person. After talking with the staff they helped fix the problem very quickly. The doctors and staff are very personable and competent so they will take the time to answer all your questions. I would not want to buy my glasses from anywhere else. Some advice: be sure to ask to see all their eye wear that is available because some of it is located in another room.

Staff and doctors are really great. Helpful, knowledgeable. They have a great selection of frames and options. I have no complaints about service or quality. I did have a little sticker shock at the cost of my glasses. Frames were reasonable ($202 for titanium). Progressive poly-carb lenses were $185/each. And that's BEFORE the $150 "anti-reflective coating". I added magnetic clip-ons for $125 (reasonable to me since they're custom cut to fit the frame). All-in, glasses were $847, not including exam, etc. I know glasses aren't cheap. But $260 PER LENS is really hard to swallow.

I was referred to West Michigan Eye Care about 25 years ago by a friend. Since then I have referred several dozen people, and everyone has been happy with their care. In fact, a friend contacted me just yesterday for the name of the office. Now my parents are patients as well, and they drive from Lansing, MI. Getting an appointment is easy, the office runs on time, the doctors spend quality time with you, and if you have children, their questions are answered respectfully, personably, and with humor (as applicable!). I would NEVER go anywhere else for my glasses; prices are competitive, they include manufacturer warranties and work with your insurance company. I couldn't be happier.

Dr Jeff Kenyon is the best eye doctor I've ever been to. My whole family goes to him for their eyecare. He does vision therapy in addition to regular eyecare, and does a wonderful job at it; he fixed my son's visual processing problem. The office staff are friendly and the office environment is nice as well. My only "complaint" is that they are a little expensive.

If you need a pediatric optometrist, you will never find a better doctor than Dr. Jeff Kenyon. He was able to help my son's amblyopia when he was a preschooler and a few years later spotted a barely-there potential optic nerve issue that most docs would have missed. My son is now a teen and does not need any vision correction because of the early intervention and monitoring. In addition, knowledgeable techs and opticians, personable office staff and many superb doctors make West Michigan Eyecare Associates the best optometric practice in Grand Rapids.
