From start to finish it was informative as well as friendly. After having not had an eye exam in awhile all the changes from how I remembered it were a little off-putting but he explained and assured each step of the examination. The lady who was assisting with drawing up costs with insurance as well as choice of glasses for my new prescription was also very kind.

I've had my eyes examined by Dr. Zuba for over a decade. He thoroughly answers questions and explains what can affect the health of your eyes such as blood pressure. I will point out that no more eye dilations but a photo which he will show you the image and it keeps track of previous years. And must mention no more eyes being blasted with air, now it's gentle puffs. Dr. Zuba and staff are always pleasant.

Best experience I've had in vision care in a long time. Dr Zuba was thorough and took his time explaining what he was doing and why. Staff was really nice and helpful. Wonderful experience. I wasn’t a patient, but called on a Friday morning asking for an emergency appointment. They were able to get me in within an hour, which is just incredible. Paperwork was quick and easy (it’s all on iPad, but they can help if you need assistance or aren’t comfortable with technology), Doctor saw me quickly and did an excellent job examining me and giving me a diagnosis and prescription. He answered my questions and explained his rationale for the medication he prescribed as well as potential next steps if things didn’t clear up. The emergency visit and the medication were both super affordable (we don’t have eye insurance), so I was grateful for what could easily have been an expensive appointment.

This was my first time visiting an Optometrist as my eyes have become strained and my close up vision has been going downhill. Dr. Zuba was awesome. Very thorough in the different tests and very informative on what they meant and my overall eye health. He spent almost an hour with me going through the tests and explaining them. The staff was great as well both when I arrived and then when working on finding a set of glasses. Overall I would highly recommend Palmetto Eye Care. One of the reasons I chose them was based on these reviews and I can attest that it's a great place to go!

The doctor was very thorough in his explanations and broke it down so my family and I could understand. He was very personable. They don’t have a huge selection of glasses which was a little irritating because we are new to SC and I don’t want to have to look for glasses elsewhere. It’s the customer service provided by both the doctor and receptionist that was exceptional enough that I will continue going each year.

Today was my first visit and it went extremely well! I’ve been to the eye doctor a few times in my life, usually a big chain store. But at those places I never learned anything about my eyes or vision in general, like I did with Dr. Zuba today. He was very thorough in his explanations and testing, the place was very clean, and his staff was very friendly. They also had a ton of frames to choose from, whether you want simple and cheap, or expensive designer frames. I will definitely trust him with my eye care from now on!

Dr. Zuba was fantastic not only did I get a great eye exam, I felt like I had been to school. Dr. Zuba shared his knowledge about eyes with me he didn't know I love to learn. Dr. Zuba took a computer image of my eyes and was showing me the optical nerves and artery. Then he said these white streaks are from recent stress around 6 to 8 months. He did not know 8 months ago I was told I would not live to see another day, due to Covid-19. I shared my testimony and shared about God had done to allow me live. Dr Zuba is the best!! This was by far the most thorough exam that I have ever received. Unlike most doctor visits, he took his time to fully explain in detail every part of my eye exam. I will most certainly refer him to my family and friends. I was very skeptical about having an eye exam during this pandemic but I personally watch the staff take extra precautions to make sure everything was completely sanitized. Doctor Zuba was thourough in explaining everything he was doing in a way that I understood. Dr. Zuba is simply the best eye doctor in Irmo. Other doctors just don’t compare to his level of expertise. My old eye doctor (America’s Best) gave me the wrong prescription which Dr. Zuba was able to correct and fix for me. Not once did I feel rushed. I originally scheduled an eye exam with a chain office and canceled the appointment- I'm so glad I did! Dr. Zuba and his staff are the best! Dr. Zuba literally explained everything he was doing while he was doing it and why he was doing it. For once I didn't have to wonder what was going on at a doctor's appointment. He is very genuine and gave me the impression that he really cares about his patients. He also did not rush through the eye exam. I have never worn contact lenses, but Dr. Zuba and his staff made me feel comfortable! Along with contacts, I also picked out new glasses for back up. Dr. Zuba explained that you usually save a lot more money by using your insurance benefits to pay for the glasses rather than the contact lenses. His staff calculated the math for me, so I could pick the option that was the cheapest. Hands down best optometry practice I have ever been to!

Update: The optometrist called me to explain the longer than usual wait times. I appreciate him reaching out to me. I've been a patient for over a year. I have never gotten emails, texts, calls or mailings from them with updates or reminders. Today, I called to schedule an appointment and the next available is 3.5 weeks away, which is too long for existing patients. It seems that they were not prepared for the growth and have not been able to accommodate additional patients sufficiently.

Place is small and if your not looking for it you may pass it a few times. In side they have state of the art equipment, that easy to use, my kids love it there, Dr.zuba gives you all the information you need about how to improve your vision. Was my 1st time there but will continue to go here.

I feel that some optometrists are over-reliant on computer systems to make measurements of the eye. Dr. Zuba still walks through the traditional tests.

I saw a different ophthalmologist but decided to fill my prescription here. Great selection of frames and using VSP eye insurance was easy. Why I’m giving 3 stars is the technician has not been very helpful with fitting the glasses I purchased. First they were too tight and now they are too loose. Ive been in a few times to try and get them fitted better but to no avail. I’ve worn glasses for >35 years and have never had a pair fit so poorly and a technician not been able to help.

I enjoyed my visit from the time I walked in. Everyone was helpful. I arrived a few minutes early because I was new and knew I would have to fill out paperwork. Soon as I finished they took me right back(I'm use to waiting). Dr. Zuba made sure I understood everything and actually took his time to explain everything. He told me he would take as much time as he needed for me. When we finished the young lady helped me pick out some glasses that were the perfect fit for my face. Most people just tell you to look around & aren't very helpful. I do plan on going back.
