My brother, mother and I went into this store one day while in Boston about a month ago because my glasses and my brother’s glasses had loose screws. We weren’t expecting the top-tier service and products which were waiting inside. The husband and wife duo who own the store were extremely friendly and willing to help us out with anything we needed, and they had the most impressive frames collection we’d ever seen. They clearly have strong bonds with the people who make the frames in their store, and they both knew everything possible about the products they offer. Definitely will be going back next time I need a new frame!

This is by far the best optical shop I have ever set foot in! Huge collection of independent brands, most if which I have never even heard of.. and the nicest most helpful staff! I will never shop ANYWHERE else for my glasses. I cannot even leave the house without getting compliments on my new glasses!

I cannot say enough good things about Soma Optical, Christos, and Alissa. I've been to Soma 3 times with my partner Hana and have purchased a total of 5 different glasses or sunglasses. Every pair is exceptional. They have a wide selection of frames from craft producers which are nothing short of stunning. I'm talking wearable art people. These are quality glasses you simply won't find in most eyeglass stores. In addition to their quality they also have a wide variety of different styles and I can confidently say they have something for everyone. It was fascinating to listen to the stories behind the design and creation of different frames and brands. In addition to the vast selection of glasses the customer service we've received from Christos and Alissa has always been above and beyond. Christos and Alissa are truly experts in their field and are excellent at connecting you with brands and frames that suite you. They are like encyclopedias of the eyewear industry and it's refreshing to learn more about the brands and people you're supporting. When I lost my favorite pair of glasses in an unfortunate jet ski accident they were able to source replacements for me almost immediately. I cannot express how sad I was to lose them and the joy of them being able to replace it. They will always go the extra mile for their customers. In the end, Soma Optical is a beautiful space filled with beautiful glasses and two amazing humans who keep it all running smoothly. We tell everyone we know to shop at Soma and will continue to support this amazing small business. If you are in the market for the best glasses in the game, look no further.

Soma Optical is the utopia of optical boutiques. I checked out the site prior to actually making it into the store. I have to say the pictures does no justice for the overall ambiance of the space! I enjoyed my personable experience with one of the owners Cristos, who was impressively knowledgeable about every brand carried in the store. Their selection is unmatched! I couldn’t be more in love with the two Terry Lasry shades I scored. I will definitely go back for my future optical needs. I raved about this place to my family and friends. Figured it was time I share my experience online. Shop Soma, you will not be disappointed.

I received top-notch service at Soma Optical. I would advice anyone in need of sunglass/eyeglass repair or purchase to check this place out!!! I brought a pair of Persol sunglasses into the store hoping to be repaired and they were on the spot! The gentleman who repaired them was a wizard. He checked out the sunglasses and felt he may be able to repair them in-store. He quickly went to work and voila he had them repaired within 10 minutes and that was not all. He fit them perfectly to my face. The care and attention was incredible. I was not charged and I did not buy them there. The next pair of sunglasses I purchase will be bought there. Do I need to say I highly recommend!

None better than Christos and Alissa of Soma! They will spend hours with you to find the perfect pair of glasses. I stumbled upon them when the store had recently opened and knew I would never be buying glasses anywhere else, ever again. This is tricky since I live in NY, but totally worth it. They have the best variety of brands that you’ll never find anywhere else in the country. I know the glasses I get from Soma are unique and eye catching, exactly what I want! And, I get lots of compliments on my frames. I am a lifelong patron of Soma and they are the Best of Boston without a doubt!

Where to begin… Christos and his lovely wife Alissa have a passion for their craft that isn’t as common in todays markets as you may think. The attention to the small details is unrivaled. Our written in the stars story begins at the height of the pandemic in 2020. I wasn’t able to travel at the time for obvious and not so obvious reasons. I was in the market for new glasses as I had out grown my pair at the time. During my research, I fell in love with the Matsuda brand and proceeded to dig through their catalog until I found a pair that was right for me. I searched for the vendors that would carry said pair in stock, and among all the shops I came across, one stood out in particular. That was Soma Optical. Aside from their beautiful store front in Boston’s South End catching my eye, there’s something else that invited my business here. That was the dynamic duo of Christos and Alissa. Christos began with educating me on all of the different options and styles available in the optical world. Many of which I had no clue about. I began explaining my goals for the look I wanted and mentioned a particular pair I saw. Christos proceeded to inform me that he had said pair in stock and would love to have me come and try them on. I then told him about my situation and my limitations with travel. Not only did he assure me of his quality of work, but he worked around the obstacles that I presented with grace. We did a virtual fitting, and next thing you know, I was ordering my very first pair from them. A few pairs later, here I have a life long relationship with one of the most talented and passionate individuals I’ve came across in recent years. I highly recommend stopping by and checking out the beauty of their store in person and watch them work magic. It’s a tailor shop for all your optical needs.

There are few gems in the city quite like Soma. Their passion for eyewear (its construction, its aesthetic, etc) is deeply felt. Having bought a few pairs their already, I have always been surprised with their selection and expertise and helping me to know what works best for me. Hands down the best eyewear store in Boston. There are no throw away brands here. The "high end" brands are not cliche overpriced, tacky and brands like Fendi or Gucci, or Cartier-that have no relationship to the design and production process. Soma's collection is carefully and discernibly curated. The quality of their glasses is the best outside of NYC and LA. The owners and their staff are incredibly helpful and the most knowledgeable about glasses I have ever met. This is not a business to them. They are believers. That one of the owner's used to handcraft and design his own line (in wood) shows. There's no hard sell, here, and no pushing. The products speak for themselves and the love of the collection and the store comes through in genuine individuated service.

Great boutique for both sunglasses and optical glasses. It has a wide range of frame collections. What’s more important is that they provide great customer service. Christos helped me to try a dozens different frames. Once my glasses is ready, he helped me to adjust it and make it fit perfectly. They can also exchange lenses at no cost if you are not satisfied.

Soma is without a doubt the coolest and most curated collection of designer and small batch eyewear I’ve ever come across. I’m tough on all my things and went in with basically the requirement of “i need your sturdiest pair you’ve got”. Not only do I get complimented on the style and overall aesthetics of the glasses all the time but I am here to tell you that they did not ignore my need for tough glasses. These things have been trampled on by sloppy boat dancers, lost in a sea of bodies at Brighton Music Hall punk shows, and they still have not forsaken me. (Oh and for reference if you’re like me, I picked up some chonky Native Sons. The store itself is gorgeous and the proprietors are kind, knowledgeable but most of all, passionate. You can tell they not only love what they do but they want to give you a Special and personalized experience. Are they the cheapest option for eyewear? Certainly not. But quality costs extra and in the case of Soma, it’s definitely worth it. I’ll never go to another eyewear provider. They hooked me for life. Get your butt to Soma and “see” what all the hype is about!

This place is amazing! Finally a store that carries unique glasses from small vendors. I particularly liked one pair of frames that was entirely made out of silver. The modern and stylish atmosphere of the store was welcoming too. The staff (a married couple) we're wonderful and a pleasure to deal with. The level of service they offer really is second to none. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for styles outside then standard luxotica brands you see everywhere.

Got so much help from Christo and Alissa, they make customer service their top priority. I spent a lot of time looking at frame, and they were super accommodating to understanding my needs. I got Matsuda frames here, and my girlfriend came too and found an amazing pair for herself as well. The frames they have are refreshingly unique, and have a younger feeling to them. Great selection and customer service. Some brands you will not find elsewhere. I had a problem getting used to my new lenses and they figured out exactly what my optometrist needed to adjust. Replaced the lenses at no cost and speedy turn around. You won’t get this type of personalized service at most places. Great addition to the neighborhood. I wound up buying 2 pairs.
