A superb health care experience from start to finish. This is a well-organized and well managed office. Everyone working at the Commonwealth location was informed and attentive. Something subtle that really made an impression on me: everyone I interacted with, from the bright, knowledgeable people at the front desk to the medical professionals in the exam rooms, seemed engaged in their work and happy to be on the job. The talented intern who conducted my eye exam and vision tests and checked my prescription (I think her name was Jackie) was absolutely exceptional. It was the best eye exam and vision test I have ever received. Dr. O’Donoghue examined me next and confirmed Jackie’s work. He is an experienced Optometrist and a wonderful doctor to deal with. Both Jackie and Dr. O’Donoghue are great listeners and teachers. (I can add that the affiliated optical office at the Commonwealth location is also terrific. They helped me out a few months ago when the old pair of glasses I was wearing broke. That’s when I made my first appointment with the Optometrist there.) I left thinking that this place is about the patient – not about the bottom line. That’s a good feeling.

Reception staff and the doctors are always very helpful and friendly. I called at 10 am for a potential eye emergency and was seen at 11am the same day. The doctors were very thorough in the exam and put me at ease throughout the visit.

This was my first eye exam so I wasn't sure what to expect. It was a very interesting experience to learn the process of checking your eyes. A large portion of my exam was done by Jacky who was so pleasant, informative, and she made the experience that much better. Dr. O’Donoghue came in towards the end to also examine my eyes and was just as enjoyable. He didn't rush and answered all my questions throughly. Would highly recommend NECO Center for Eye Care.

Dr. Pallante in the Vision Therapy Clinic is by far one of the best doctors I've ever had. She truly cares about her patients in a way thats hard to come by and goes above and beyond to help her clients reach their goals, not just "standards". Im so grateful to have finally found a doctor that has taken my head injury seriously and hasn't given up. The office staff is also super knowledgeable and helpful and kind. Highly recommend for anyone needing vision therapy.

Dr. Kellen Riccobono is friendly, patient and beautiful! But the front desk service needs to be improved. Recently, I written an email to the front dest as for a referral, they nicely responded! Again, their medical ability is good, I have another friend seen here. Thus, I think the clinic is nice.

It was my first time there, I understand that my appointment was going to be a bit longer then maybe at other places because it is the New England College of Optometry, a practicing student sees me and then the optometrist professor reviews that the process was done right and that no mistakes or errors are missed. The optometrist student that was attending me was wonderful that I didn’t feel the time fly by! I felt confortable, well treated, she even noticed that my previous prescription was too strong than what I actually needed! She was very thorough, listened to my concerns and over all, I am grateful to have been seen at NECO. The optometrist that oversees the students was very nice as well and I felt confident that they did a perfect job. Very professional and courteous, I will be back again for sure!

The woman who gave me the examination was exceptional. She was extremely thorough with looking within, throughout, behind, all around my eye. Her professionalism and knowledge of the eye was very impressive, and she explained to me the many aspects of what she was looking at on the screen in a clear, non-condescending manner. She enjoyed sharing with me what she was looking for and various indicators that informed her conclusions. I knew she was an extraordinary examiner, and when I met her mentor (the primary teaching doctor) I could see why. He had a similar manner of imparting information and being very forthright and personable at the same time. I cannot say enough about what a great experience I had - and cannot recommend this place highly enough.

I can't remember the name of the young woman who did my first eye exam unfortunately 🥺🥺I do know she was from london she was amazing said my eyes were well. Dr O'Donoghue came in did another eye check and said the same thing then explained to me why I possibly had a migraine both people were wonderful they have many glasses options they got style with them to choose from definetly worth it coming here for eye exams for sure

Dr. Ross and the whole team at NECO are fabulous. They are a teaching center so you spend a lot of your appointment with student doctors but they’re usually very competent and professional. I am legally blind so going to the eye doctor for me is like going to my PCP. NECO is great at respecting my wishes and working with MCB to obtain any glasses or technology I need.

My situation might be a little different than usual but it’s a good test of NECOs quality of customer service. Thanks to staff member Adamis of the NECO Optical Shop, NECO came through with flying colors! I need new glasses but I am happy with the style of my frames. Frankly, I just wanted the same pair with new lenses but to arrange things over the phone. Adamis did an amazing job connecting all the dots of my new insurance, new prescription, and desired frame all over the phone! While the frame is longer carried in stock, Adamis took the trouble to find the correct frames at the previous manufacturer. There’s a lot of choices in lenses and lens coatings. Adamis walked me through the options patiently pointing out the benefits (or maybe no real benefit) for me. Very happy. Of course, I’ll go in to have the new glasses fitted, but I saved a lot of time and trouble ordering over the phone and got the result I wanted thanks to Adamis and the staff at NECO. Note I do have an up-to-date prescription which made ordering by phone possible

We love Dr. Ross. She is so kind and gentle with children. She does not rush us. Her resident Dr. Martin was also wonderful. I especially like how the doctors speak directly to my daughter and allow her to answer/speak for herself as to her visual impairment.

Great eye care, very thorough and with concern for comfort and Covid safety. NECO is a teaching clinic so the exam is performed by a very qualified student then attended by the ophthalmologist. The students are always fantastic, I’ve been going here for 12 years and always look forward to my appointments.

Real review here: I'm a BU student and just got my eye check from SHS, they told me my eyes are tired from too much screen time and I need my glasses tightened, so I went straight to NECO. The guy in there was so nice, and he fixed my glasses for free! Oh I love this place!

All were very friendly and I understand that students need training however it’s hard for an 85 year old lady to be there for over 2 hours answering repetitive questions. We were there to see how her sight from sunlight to indoors could be helped yet 1 1/2 hours was spent on the reading mechanisms she could use to read. I did mention a few times that she doesn’t spend time reading , yet they kept going with the whole reading aspect. When the eye dr finally came in after an hour + I I finally said that is t what her issue is. So, in a few minutes we were shown sunglasses. So, all that took was 15 min. And still waiting for them to let us know how much the sunglasses will be. We were told they would call us with the price of sunglasses.

Check-in at NECO Center for Eye Care Commonwealth was quick and easy. Waiting to be seen by a provider was reasonable. Since it is a teaching site, I was first seen by an intern who is an optometry student. The intern named Jaxon did a great job checking my vision and the health of my eyes. After Jaxon finished his part, Mark W. O’Donoghue, OD the attending optometrist reviewed Jaxon's work and also checked the health of my eyes. I walked out of my appointment fully satisfied and understanding the health of my eyes, specially as a person who wears glasses. At the end of the visit Jaxon walked me over to the front desk to check out and we parted. I highly recommend this practice.

I was impressed with the professionalism and knowledge of Dr. Vera-Diaz and her assistant, and also with their no-pressure approach to various treatment options.

The optical dispensary folks were very patient and helpful in getting the right lenses for my frames. I needed lenses tinted a specific color and they were the only optical store that had the colors available and knew what I needed. I would definitely get my glasses there in the future. I also have had a great experience with vision therapy at the Specialty Clinic. They’re teaching state-of-the-art therapies for improving vision and healing ocular-vestibular impacts from TBI. Vision therapy at NECO has been a life-saver for me.

I have always had good experiences here with routine eye exams. In fact, it seems to improve each time I come in. This past visit, working with Tyler and Dr. Donoghue, was particularly easy. In and out in 40 minutes. Would recommend visiting on weekday mornings, if possible. It was much less crowded than my experiences in the afternoon. 👍👍

My recent appointment at the new NECO clinic was a smooth/transparent experience. I had an insurance change since my last visit and the staff took time ahead of the visit to make sure everything checked out and there were no billing surprises. I went to the previous NEEI office on an annual basis for eye exams over the last 5-6 years and it's reassuring to see some of the same faces at this new office.

In part this review is to up total stars because of that one user who failed to check on opening hours before visiting the facility! We started going to New England Eye because of my daughter's hidden vision issues. Who knew that one could have 20/20 vision but struggle with tracing and eye teaming. But I digress - Dr. Laudon was very helpful with her problems and my daughter's vision improved with his therapy. When she did need glasses a couple of years later, the service was again excellent. The place has a decent selection of frames and turnaround was quick.

I've been going to New England Eye for about eight years now and find their staff very professional and congenial and their selection of frames more than adequate. My eyes are incredibly light sensitive and their optometrists have always been incredibly patient with me and careful and sensitive in their exam techniques. The trainees who carry out the initial part of the exam have all been from the New England College of Optometry and have been very competent and professional.

Vitelio is an responsible optician. He is willing to explain and fix lens problems for customers. However, this eye care center disappointed me because my lens were cut incorrectly, which caused dizziness and extreme eye fatigue. They gave me a new pair of lenses, and Vitelio also adjusted the glass frame for me.

My visit to NECO was excellent. I was greeted promptly and waited only briefly before I was taken to the exam room. The intern was courteous, spoke clearly and thorough with the intake. She described each of the exams and kept me informed about what she was doing. Dr G conducted the detailed exams efficiently and without discomfort. She explained the results and recommendations clearly and listened to my questions. I will return here for future exams.
