Every staff member was incredibly polite and so understanding for children, as a mom of multiples, I definitely get nervous going out with more than one kid and they made it so easy for me! And Dr. Jill was amazing with my two kiddos! She made every task and interaction a fun activity for my daughter, and was so patient with my son, who’s on the spectrum! I love the Johnson, family and appreciate how much they take good care of my kids! I’m writing this review to thank them SO much for saving my sons eyesight with Vision therapy. These are the hero’s that don’t get enough credit for changing the lives of our youth. Dr.Johnson changed our life for better. Sent a message via their website in the early morning (well before business hours) about a new patient appointment, and received a call back within 30 minutes of opening. The admin was professional and prompt. Our visit was very enjoyable and Dr.Ryan was attentive and funny with our 6yr old😍…scheduled more appointments for our children later that day after receiving info from the office about our insurance coverage 🎉🎉…VERY HELPFUL!!

For me reviews are important when giving a new place a try I go based off reviews. I absolutely loved the ophthalmologist Dr. Kronberg she was gentle, kind, and patient with my 5 year old. However, I gave this visit a 3 star because when it came time to choosing the frames. They didn’t have many options and the lady we were dealing with seemed frustrated because we asked to try like mostly all of them (well about 5-8 pairs, again not to many options to choose from). So, we finally found a pair we were most comfortable with for our 5 year old. The lady ringed us up and during the process she didn’t explain any charges to us. She gave me a price and I thought the visit was included as well which I was comfortable with paying. So when it was time to swipe I did so of course (while dealing with my child) without a thought because I wanted the very best for my child. I had believed I was in the best hands according to the reviews I trusted. When she handed me the receipts I walked off and when I got home I sat and looked them over about 20 minutes later. I seen all these additional charges (hidden fees) so I called over to them for further breakdown. I was so disappointed to find out she added all these extra things to my child’s pair of glasses without explaining. I asked to cancel those extra costs and was told “the lab gets to work on them right away so that wasn’t possible” I wasn’t able to cancel. Here I am stuck with a $700 bill for one pair of glasses!! Are you kidding me $700 for one pair! So I aware you to please pay very close attention so this doesn’t happen to you! Ask what your being charged for because if you leave it up to them they will add everything without explaining to you. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL ON THEIR PART. I would make a visit again in the future BUT only for the ophthalmologist I will NEVER buy glasses from them again.

We needed a change from your typical chain eye care. I'm so glad we found Artisan. Dr. Johnson was so nice, knowledgeable, and informative. I've never expected the level of care for an eye exam that we received here. We made a plan for my daughter and he explained things to me about her vision whereas other eye places we've been...simply gave us a prescription and to pick glasses. Thank you so much. Dr Kronberg and Dr Johnson are the best! When my daughter first started going, she had severe anxiety in all doctor office settings. Both Dr Johnson and Kronberg were so accommodating and patient with her. I now have 3 kids that see them and they love going. They take their time with each patient and get to know them individually. Took my 8yr old for an eye appt with Dr. Ryan Johnson. The receptionist was very friendly. I had my 2yr old with me and he was all over the place! When I took my son back for his exam, I could barely keep a hold of my youngest boy. Took him outside to walk around during the exam and Dr. Johnson came out to find me and walked with us while he gave me some results. Above and beyond in my opinion! Also, my oldest son loved him! Would definitely recommend

I have taken all of my kids here. From ages 2-12 and they’ve all had wonderful experiences. My little ones love being able to “play games” while at the with Dr. Kronberg and that she was so nice. My my older boys liked the fact that Dr. Johnson included them in the conversation about their eyes and their vision health. Both doctors are great at communicating with you during the exam and we left each time happy and knowledgeable. The front desk staff is great as well! I would recommend this office to anyone looking for a pediatric optometrist!

Both doctors at Artisan are fantastic with kids. We have been impressed on so many levels on different occasions. The office is very clean. Things are orderly and not cluttered. The staff (all of them) are absolutely amazing. Very friendly and inviting. My 10 year old loves going to see the doctors and even made comments about how great they are. They are VERY knowledgeable. My son went elsewhere before I got custody and they missed a major problem that the doctors at Artisan spotted. They even gave him the wrong prescription at the other place. Most friendly, knowledgeable and clean Eyecare in town!

I was somewhat skeptical when someone first recommended that I take my adult brother with cognitive disabilities to see a pediatric eye care specialist. But my brother had always had difficulties accurately explaining to the doctors what he could and could not see, often ending up with prescription lenses that we suspected were not quite right. Long story short, Dr. Kronberg and all the staff are excellent with my brother's needs. They take the time and care to get accurate info, and send him home feeling positive about the experience.

Came here for a second opinion after going to the only other vision therapy office in the treasure valley. We were initially told that there was no glasses prescription available that would help my daughter's vision and that she would require 9 months of vision therapy that we would have to pay out of pocket because they did not bill insurance (nor did our insurance cover it because it's considered experimental treatment). After visiting Artisan Pediatric, they were able to find a glasses prescription that gave my daughter near 20/20 vision and alleviated the need for vision therapy. THANK YOU Dr. Johnson for putting my daughter's care ahead of profit.

Dr. Johnson was amazing, friendly, kept my son intrigued, and engaged. He was thorough and easy to understand. Highly recommend. The checkout receptionist was also a delight. I was not impressed with the rest of the staff, but I would guess it was just a bad day. I shall give them the benefit of the doubt as the rest of and most important part of the visit was worth it. Plus, it was quite warm in there on a hot day, so be prepared!

Oh my! This was one of the best Dr. experiences I think our family has ever had. My son is nervous by nature and the Dr. Kronberg was so interesting and respectful to my kiddo (not the creepy overly sweet that docs can be with kids) and was inclusive with little brother waiting with me. She knew her stuff of course but also talked with the children on their topics of interest and could add to the conversation! i.e. dinosaurs, space, Mario video-games! I took my youngest son to the pediatric ophthalmologist, whose only solution was patching. It was a huge fight to get my son to wear a patch and there was no improvement. Someone suggested Artisan. So I decided to go, I was a bit concerned that they were not ophthalmologists , as I had been told that optometrists could not solve his issues. I decided a second opinion never hurt and our current course was not helping. Dr Johnson was very good at explaining why patching did not help, and recommended vision therapy. He and Dr Kronberg also discovered my son had the wrong prescription. We got that fixed, and after some time, he started vision therapy. My son was 8 and started therapy as a non reader. He had the concept of reading and letter sounds, he just struggled so much and didn’t think he could. His eyes were getting in his way. After six months of vision therapy, he is a strong, confident emerging reader. The progress is impressive! I expected improvement in his vision, but not confidence, that was a pleasant side benefit! An eye doctor discovered oldest son had an eye turn and recommended vision therapy. So I took him to see Dr Johnson. He verified all that the other doctor had said, but said in his case vision therapy probably wouldn’t help much. The first time I took one of my kids to Dr. Johnson, he said he would be straightforward about whether or not vision therapy worked. I felt I could trust his expertise. The fact that he didn’t recommend vision therapy for this son, and explained why it would not help, just made me feel I could trust him more with vision issues. I’m only sad that I don’t get to see Dianne, the receptionist at vision therapy, every week. I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a vision solution.

We love the doctors here! We have been coming for years and they have helped our kids so much. Vision therapy was a game changer for my daughters that are quite bright but struggling with school. After the therapy, they are ahead of their grades and happy, confident young women! Jill is so great with little children during the eye exams, she had my 5 year old giggling and playing the “games.” He didn’t even think he was at an “exam.” Dr. Johnson is friendly, happy, and caring and gets along great with the kids and parents. We came here because my child was given an autism diagnosis, and it was highly recommended to have them checked for visual and hearing issues (I was told by a doctor most autism people have audio/visual problems). I have always taken my kids to get their eyes checked yearly, and I was surprised to find out that my child had been misdiagnosed for YEARS by our previous eye doctor! My child had severe double-vision and it was causing a LOT of difficulties for them! Fortunately, the amazing people at Artisan Eye Care we're able to correctly diagnose and treat my child. We were able to get prism lenses for immediate assistance, and then we had therapy for long-term correction. It's been a little over a year now since our first visit, and my child is fully cured of the double-vision! I can't describe how much this has helped my child in school, in day-to-day activities, and in personal confidence! Artisan Eye Care HAS BEEN SUCH A BLESSING for our family!!! I bring everyone in our family here now!

Dr. Kronberg is one of the best pediatric doctors we’ve encountered. She keeps things fun and stress-free for the kids even while going through an entirely new experience. The eye exam is thorough and interactive and somehow Dr. Kronberg is able to keep them patient and engaged through the whole thing. Going to the eye doctor is not something my kids dread at all. I have been struggling with St. Luke's optometrist to listen to me about my child's eye issues. First visit she listened to ALL of my concerns and addressed them. Saw Dr Ryan Johnson as an adult. I had previously been to 2 other optometrists that said i just had bad "eye strain." Dr Johnson took a lot of time with me and even brought in one of his associates for another opinion. He came up with a plan to fix my vision-by far the best optometrist in town and the best I have ever been treated by an optometrist. highly recommend.

Absolutely Amazing! My 4 yr old daughter who has significant speech delays was seen by Dr. Jill Kronberg. Dr. Kronberg’s knowledge of Pediatric Eyecare was very apparent. But what was happily unexpected was her knowledge on how to deal with small children with delays. Dr. Kronberg never missed a beat with my daughter. She never needed to look to me to figure out what my daughters response to an question was. She never made my daughter feel bad or anxious about not being able to understand her. For example, when my daughter was asked to say what shape she saw and Dr. Kronberg saw my daughter couldn’t respond in a way she could understand, she immediately handed her a paper with different shapes on it and said let’s match the shape you see. That may sound like such a simple and normal thing for someone who solely works with children to do. But I can tell you it is not. We leave most doctor appointments with my daughter feeling sad and me completely stressed from trying to “translate “ my daughter’s speech for them, and hoping we got it right. My kids see both Dr. Jill Kronberg and Dr. Ryan Johnson. They know how to deal with the wiggling, and animal noises my kids make. They handle shy kids and rambunctious kids. These Doctors are empathetic of all the vision issues my kids. I asked Dr. Kronberb about a binocular test and she tested and found what was wrong and got us into vision therapy to correct the problem. I have only good things to say about the Doctors and staff at the this clinic.

The Dr was very knowledgeable and made the whole experience fun for my 9 year old son. We have seen many different optometrists for his vision because he has amblyopia and his visionit is so poor and has been steadily becoming worse over the years. This is the FIRST doctor that has come up with a good plan to correct his vision and stopped the patching that has been consistent for the past 5 years without any result. We are thrilled to have a doctor that knows how to help, better than any other we have ever been to. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

The doctors are great, help at the front desk, not so much. They were not very helpful in billing my insurance, didn’t ask for insurance info or tell me my info with them was out of date, until I asked them when I was ready to leave. Then demanded payment before I left their office as they hadn’t called ahead to verify the insurance. Still waiting for them to let me know whether the amount I paid will be reimbursed or whether I’m on my own to figure it out with the insurance company. Thanks for your reply, but oh my gosh! Will it really benefit you to continue this argument publicly? Your staff flat-out argued with me, then texted me the next day asking for a review! They called me back to tell me they just couldn't figure it out, sorry, I'd have to call the insurance company myself. I was able to verify with one quick call that an annual eye exam is covered, and you are in-network, so it should have been a $20 copay per kid, which is what I told you in the office. Wonder when I'll get a refund for the other $160 charged to my credit card. Sigh.
