This past August I wore contacts in a hot tub and then slept in them. Almost overnight I lost all vision in my left eye from the aggressive bacterial infection I contracted. (This is not a black blindness, it's a white-out, blind either way.) To anyone, including this career documentary photographer w/NatGeo credits, this is horrifying. It's a Sunday and I'm calling around to the closed vision businesses until Dr. Tom answered the after-hours phone. He and his wife were at a wedding on the rims and they *cut the reception short to meet me at their office. I was examined and prescribed drops and then returned Monday morning to follow up. The situation was serious and Dr. Tom had already set up an appointment with a cornea specialist in Billings that morning, where I went next. In the end I came away with full clarity but with an astigmatism (the curvature of my eyeball now has a dent in it.) We order astigmatism-specific contacts and they were good, but the photographer in me asked if we could try a different prescription and Dr. Tom said let's do it, let's make sure we're as dialed-in as is possible. The new one was a bit better. This story is to tell you Dr. Tom and the staff at Billings Vision Center are uniquely personable as well as professional in this day and age, and what a wonderful surprise. The staff is beyond friendly, they know your name and what else can be said here? The guy cut away from a wedding on a Sunday afternoon to save my eye. Don't hesitate! -John Warner Billings

I am so grateful for the wonderful professional, educational experience I had today at Billings Vision Center. I relocated from NYC in August 2020. I am a youthful 66 and have to make sure I can always see clearly everything. I enjoyed there state of the art technology which granted me no need for eye dilation. The doctor explained in detail about every tests and answered all my questions. I have found an excellent place to get all my eye care needs. See you to pick up my glasses soon. Absolutely wonderful. I'd had a REALLY bad experience at a different provider, in that case it was the people running it who made it miserable (Doc was great) and in one case they were so rude I ended up in tears sitting in my car. I'd been going to them for 20 yrs, so I actually stopped getting my eyes checked. I was so thankful I'd taken my kids to Dr. Felstet before, knowing they were respectful and kind so I gave in and decided to do it myself. So glad I did. The doctor is very thorough and the staff make it even better. I am having a problem with my insurance on that I need to get fixed and they are going above and beyond holding my glasses for me until then. Great experience top to bottom. I highly recommend them. I had my first exam with Billings Vision Center. I would highly recommend Billings Vision Center to anyone needing vision services. The support staff were very friendly and professional. The clinic itself is very nice and spacious. Dr Tom was an especially great surprise. He's very personable and good at explaining things in a way that's easy to understand. Dr Tom is a very genuine guy. *In addition, one thing in particular I really liked was that I could easily access and completely fill out my patient history form under the "Our Eye Doctor and Staff" tab on their website. I didn't even have to print them out and bring them along with me. All I had to do was simply submit the form online. What a great time saver! Thanks Billings Vision Center :D

I highly recommend if you are seeking a change in your vision care provider, first time needing eye care or new to the area, Billings Vision Center should be your first choice!! This was our first visit to Billings Vision Center and I couldn’t be more impressed by the level of professionalism, knowledge and kindness of the entire staff!! When scheduling our appointments with Candace she was so friendly and accommodating. We walked in and we were met by all staff with warm greetings or smiles making us feel like we had been going there for years. We checked in with Candace who explained everything very clearly and got us right back to the doctor. Doctor Tom is very easy to talk with and highly educated in his field, which I respect very much in a medical professional. He answered all our questions with clear direct answers and all the information he provided was easy to understand. He was actually very fun to work with making us laugh and feel at ease. After our exam we went to pick out frames which is something I absolutely dread because I have not a clue how to pick something that fits my face and matches my everyday attire. Immediately Shannon was by our side helping my teenage son and then myself make decisions and adding her expertise opinion on what to consider and what to stay away from. Shannon and my oldest son had his frames picked out quickly and she was able to give him feedback in a way that didn’t offend him, and anyone with a teenager knows this is nothing short of a miracle!! When it came to my frames I was very nervous and hesitant because I have to have specialized tint due to a traumatic brain injury I suffered years ago, I get migraines from certain light exposure and Shannon had extensive experience with this condition and immediately knew what color and type of tint I required and Ron was right there to confirm they had it covered!! I have never felt more confident in anyone’s knowledge and ability as I did with Shannon. She set aside all my fears and anxieties and made the experience actually very fun. Admirably Ron was there to keep up the laughter which of course is absolutely necessary to make any experience enjoyable!! Overall this savvy girl’s opinion of Billings Vision Center could not be any higher and that is a difficult mark to reach considering I will dismiss any doctor or specialist immediately if they lack professionalism, courtesy/respect, proficiency of knowledge and follow through. These guys checked all the boxes and they did it with a smile!!

All of the staff at Billings Vision Center will go above and beyond to make sure you have a fantastic experience. I tend to be very indecisive when picking frames and the staff gives great honest feedback about what looks good and what doesn't. Dr. Felstet gives a very thorough exam and I've always been happy with my prescription. When he recommends a more expensive product, he has me try the cheaper alternative as well so I can see the difference myself. Highly recommend!

I really enjoyed the process from start to finish. When I walked in the front desk lady (I’m blanking on her name at the moment) was great. I hadn’t done an eye exam before so she made it very easy on me. The doctor (Tom) was very pleasant as well and answered any and all questions along with making sure I was comfortable with the contact lenses. The man who fitted me at the counter for my glasses (Ron) was very fun and funny and also answered any lingering questions I had along with making the payment process and breakdown of it very simple. Overall if you’re undecided on a eye care place or are thinking about a new one I highly recommend this one. I will be using them for as long as I have eye issues. Had a great experience here. Doc was running on time, and let me see the pics of the inside of my eyes!! Lady performing eye test were great, Ron provided useful tips about which glasses would work best for me and provided an actual opinion on what looked the best which I appreciated. For @45 years, my home was Texas; however, during my 2014 Holiday visit, I decided to stay here (MT/WY). The moment I stepped into this office, I felt warmly calm. It was the combination of Country music playing & the lovely welcome from the staff. I’ve seen different optical doctors since age 12 and Dr Felstet is by far my favorite. After my exam, he walked me over to Ron, who knew what frames would be best for me as soon as I sat down. Not kidding...out of the choices, his initial selection was my final pick. The last couple of years, my SLE became the reason my sight had deteriorated so quickly; therefore, I now need bifocals which isn’t a pleasant realization. However, the entire team’s mannerisms & words gave me the feeling that I was back home, with my sweet family helping me through the entire appointment. Actually, I am quite giddy waiting for my new glasses and yes, seeing everyone again is the main reason why!

As a small business owner I always try to support other small businesses. I've been using Billings Vision Center for years and always receive great care. I have vision testing for glasses and contacts as well as monitoring for some eye differences that could indicate glaucoma. I've also purchased my last two pairs of glasses at Billings Vision Center. They have good quality glasses for a variety of budgets. With no vision insurance I always pay cash (which comes with a discount) and during my recent visit I also found out that they continue to accept Medicaid. This payment option is necessary for so many Montanans! Thank you Billings Vision Center, I can't wait to pick up my new glasses!
