I wear rigid, gas permeable progressive contacts. In the past, Optometrists have had difficulty fitting me and optimizing my prescription. Dr. McDaniel got it right the first time. She and her staff are knowledgeable, efficient and very friendly. I give them my highest recommendation.

Such a drastic difference compared to Asheville Eye. Everyone was so nice. I was seen promptly and my exam itself was a breeze. Dr.Laura McDaniel was pleasant, informative, and helped me figure out my insurance coverage. We had a great experience at Family Vision Asheville! My daughter (7) had a visit and she really actually loved it! She said that it was actually kind of fun! Dr. Laura McDaniels was wonderful, so friendly and personal and excellent with kids. The front staff was awesome as well and ordering glasses was easy and quick, she let my daughter have full control and feel like a little adult which she always appreciates! Highly recommend.

As a first time customer, this was definitely a 5 star experience. I was nervous but thanks to a knowledgeable and caring staff, the move into my first pair of progressive lenses was very smooth ... actually, I had fun! I was especially impressed that despite being short staffed and training a new employee, they took an all-hands-on-deck approach, maintaining a great attitude and making me feel like I was their only customer while I was there. (I assure you, I was not!) I will be back!

At first I was a little reluctant to go since Dr McDonald retired, but I'm so glad that I did. The front of house folks are always kind, easy going and helpful. They have some new technology since last I was there and give very thorough pre-exams. Dr McDaniel was friendly, efficient and clear with me. I didn't feel like I needed to guess or I was going to be in trouble for taking up too much time. She took a lot of time with me and even came out to tell the prescription expert some recommendations on the type of lenses that would work best with what was going on with my eyes. So often I've gone somewhere else because their office is 45 minutes from my house. No more. I'm a Family Vision patient for good now. I can't recommend them highly enough! Thank you to everyone involved with my appointment.

Linda was great in helping me select frames and completing paperwork. Others in the office were equally friendly and helpful. I loved the atmosphere.

Staff was extremely nice and helpful. My doctor explained anything and answered all questions I had. The lady at the front desk even helped me out and picked my pair of glasses. Would definitely recommend this place. I live over 45 mins away. I only made the appointment because I needed a new contact exam but I am keeping this as my eye doctor.

I've never needed corrective glasses until recently. I noticed my vision wasn't as sharp as it used to be and seemed to have a headache. I called up Family Vision and they were able to schedule me a visit that same week. This was my very first official eye exam. It was very welcoming and all the ladies there were very helpful. Intake was quick, the insurance process was easy, the front office women took their time with letting me choose from the extensive frame selection, explained everything clearly about the lens types they offered. Dr. McDaniel was very professional yet light hearted during my exam. I would h-eye-ly recommend Family Vision Asheville to anyone looking for great vision care.

Awesome service over the years. My eye exam was fast and accurate. Courteous staff. Self pay and Insurance patients are both welcome. Prices at and below most. Higher quality products than their competitors. My glasses always last longer than they are expected. I was called back exactly at my appointment time with no extra wait in the waiting room. 5 stars for sure.

I have been a patient of Dr. McDonald for over 30 years. My most recent appointment was with Dr. McDaniel. Both doctors are very thorough with their examinations and up to date with their equipment. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and have always been a great help to me when choosing the right frames. If you are looking for a new eye doctor don’t hesitate to call and make an appointment.

I recently got Vision Insurance through VSP and started calling to find a doctor. The first practice I called never answered their phone and the second one had a wait-list for a new patient appointment that was two months out! Third time must really be the charm because when I called Family Vision, they answered on the first ring, got me in the next day, and treated me like family from the first contact until the end of my appointment. I spent very little time in the waiting room, the doctor was very knowledgeable and thorough, and the ladies in the front were very patient with me as I tried on almost every pair of glasses trying to decide on my next pair of frames! And after all of that, I ended up choosing one of the first pairs that they suggested for me. My glasses should be here within the next 10 days or so and I'm excited to try them on! Thank you, Family Vision, for excellent customer service!

Dr. Haley is incredible! She found a piece of metal embedded in my eye on Oct. 26th and removed it. She numbed it good and I never felt a thing. She's incredibly informative about what she's doing and explains her diagnosis. The metal was almost microscopic but causing a lot of watering and swelling in my eyelid. Would highly recommend her to anyone.

Everyone was very helpful and friendly. Everyone was still safely wearing masks, which made things even better. They had a great selection of "offbeat" frames and weren't the least bit bothered that I took nearly 2hrs and 2 dozen pairs (or more!) to finally decide what I wanted. Excellent and thorough examination by Dr. McDonald. Would recommend this doctor to anyone with eyemed insurance looking for a quality exam. Pleasant but dumb staff who are not invested in ensuring your experience is satisfactory. Would strongly caution against ordering glasses. Request a copy of your prescription at the end of your exam (specifically request that your PD be printed. They already have those numbers saved but they will not print on the form) and order elsewhere.

Love Dr. McDonald, not so much the office staff. If things are running an hour behind schedule, it happens. But it’s a common curtesy to let your patients know that you’re running behind. I totally understand being busy, but tell me that so I can adjust my plans. I’m not sure of the lady’s name I spoke with but she wasn’t very kind about the issue.
