My 8 year old son was so well taken care of during his very thorough eye exam and the process of getting set up with his very first pair of glasses. The entire staff was so patient and accommodating listening to all of our concerns. I highly recommend this practice; a high class, professional atmosphere from start to finish. I had such a great experience throughout the whole process of having my eyes evaluated. I developed double vision after a traumatic head injury and was told by another ophthalmologist to just wait for swelling to reduce. I knew there was more I could do so I scheduled with Dr. Kompkoff and they were able to get me in right away. They thoroughly examined my eyes and gave me exercises specifically to improve my eye coordination. I have noticed improvements in just a weeks time. I am so grateful for Katmai Eye and Vision Center and will definitely be referring friends and family.

My daughter just started vision therapy here, but my initial impression is positive. It's kept clean, masking is optional, everyone was straight forward with information and treated respectfully. Pricing is a little more expensive as they do not offer any kind of discount with self paying clients who do not have insurance and the vision therapy tools given to be used at home, in my opinion are too expensive for what it is. However for the location and my daughter not missing school, my family will make the investment and see it as an investment instead of a negative.

Everyone at Katmai has been amazing. I’ve had eye issues since my childhood that were never caught by other optometrists. As an older adult discovering I had a reading speed deficit that was severely impacting my studies- the Katmai team was able to provide a reading speed test and thorough eye exam evaluating it so I’d know what my treatment options and resources were going forward. Their eye therapy has worked so well, and their therapists are friendly, professional, and extremely helpful. If you have any concerns about your eyes, this is absolutely one of the best places in Anchorage to go for a thorough evaluation so nothing is missed, and for treatment of existing eye conditions. They are wonderful.

I was referred to Katmai Eye and Vision Center by a colleague. She said they really gave time to give her a thorough exam. I went yesterday and it's true. My total time spent in the office was an hour and half. I suffer with dry eyes and they gave me samples to try and told me, "don't worry if this doesn't work we have another level we can go up!" I am going back for a follow-up in 30 days. Yes, they a little expensive and they don't bill insurance; however, it's totally worth the expense. If you are looking for a through and highly professional eye and vision center, then Katmai is your place. I highly recommend!

This is a wonderful place to go for your eye needs. When other eye places would not give me the time of day or really listen to my eye concerns, this place did. All the staff are great and always willing to help and answer any questions you have. My eye doctor is Doctor Laura Kompkoff and while she has been working with me ... Having never had my vision evaluated by an optometrist, my physician made the suggestion during my annual examination that it may be a good idea regardless of whether I was experiencing any issues related to my vision. I contacted Katmai Eye & Vision Center and had an appointment scheduled within the week. TJ was a welcoming first-contact with Katmai and provided a relaxed and thorough initial vision screening that is far more detailed and innovative than reading the typical eye chart; my only experience. Dr. Kompkoff then provided a full examination with additional education and information on my vision tied to my current physical condition as well as my medical history. She incorporated my daily activities and employment into my examination and was pleasant to discuss the health of my current vision as well as moving forward. If you have an hour of time and have not ever, or recently, had your vision examined, I would suggest Katmai as a welcoming and worthwhile clinic to visit.
