Had a great experience from the beginning with the office team. When scheduling, I shared that I would be having a surgery soon and was hoping to have my eyes checked before then, as it would be a lengthy recovery, and the associate, Kat was able to accommodate me, with such kindness, too, over the phone. Day of, my wait wasn’t long, and everyone I interacted with was courteous. Dr. Jarrell did a quick and thorough exam and I got my new prescription, which will help with the eye strain I was feeling. Now, I’m just waiting for my glasses to come in. Thank you.

I haven't received my glasses yet so this review will be focusing primarily on staff and location. May update once I do get them. Dr. Jarrell gave me a pretty quick exam which was nice, but had me wondering how thorough it really was. This isn't my first eye exam by far so I'm hoping that this was a good thing that speaks to his experience. I asked questions and he was knowledgeable which is always valued. The woman that helped me pick out my glasses was kind of wonderful. Very personable and was also quite knowledgeable. Made the whole process sail along effortlessly. The location was great. Very good choices in glasses and in price. I especially loved the fact that it was close to where I live. It was clean and COVID regulations were followed. Now here comes the negative section. The receptionist was rude to a point that was hard to wave off. I arrived at the location a few minutes late and was worried that would be a problem but, when I walked in they were a bit busy. I stood there kind of awkwardly and waited to be greeted kindly or at all. ( One receptionist was busy helping others, one was not) I'm not sure if she was busy however, I've done this kind of work before, if you're busy you say I'll be with you in a moment and offer a smile or even those simple words. When she did acknowledge me and tell me to come up I brushed off the interaction or rather lack of interaction, (I get it, not everyone is having the best day of their life) we talked for a little bit and she let me know my insurance couldn't be found which I thought was funny because I filled that out online. Unfortunately, I couldn't find my wallet before I left and was already late but thought hey, I already filled this out. I should be okay, right? Wrong. Turns out she spelled my name wrong and it wasn't my fault in the long run. You'd think she would have checked that basic information first. Throughout that entire conversation she was very clearly frustrated and kept on repeating that we'd probably have to reschedule. I don't know, I honestly believe she was more concerned about the fact that she was about to get off of work than on actually helping. Put a bad taste in my mouth. If I do come back to this location it definitely won't be because of her.

It was my first visit as a new patient (4th ST location). Receptionist was extremely nice. She asked me to wait in the hall to be brought in to do some pre-exam stuff before Dr J saw me. Waited less than 5 minutes and that staff member was super sweet and friendly as well. When i did get to see Dr. J, he was really fast and efficient and answered my questions about getting contacts for the first time. I thought I'd have to schedule a separate appointment for that but was pleasantly suprised to have it all taken care of at once. Even more excited that i was able to get a trial pair of contacts in 3 days (went in on a Saturday and able to pick them up the following Monday). Receptionist answered all my questions about pricing, when I'm able to get the contacts, etc. Overall great experience and hope to keep going back to them.

It took several tries calling the Orbit Alameda location before I was able to connect. Once I did, though, the receptionist found an opening at the North Valley location in less than a week (a much shorter wait time than several other locations including Eye Assoc and Costco)! Staff was friendly and appointment was quick. The eye doc seemed highly competent and knowledgeable, but completed the briefest eye exam I've ever had (seemed to rush through it a bit). I just hope the doc did a through enough exam to make sure I got the best prescription for each eye. Assuming the prescriptions end up being spot on, it was a good experience.

The employees at Orbit were professional and very helpful. I went there because it was the only place in Albuquerque that offered the progressive lenses my insurance covers, with no additional charges. A great place to go if you are a senior with a Medicare Advantage insurance plan. I will be returning when it's time for a new pair.

Honestly this is the best Optical exam experience we have had.My husband had a poor experience at a well respected competitor.Orbit listened to husbands glasses problem and found the actual underlying cause which their competitor never took the time to assess despite a return visit requiring a second pair of glasses.We did not feel like we were being run through a mill.Will recommend to family.

It's fine here it's not the area for me personally. The doctor was pretty nice but I felt like everyone was uncomfortable around me or that I was different or lesser than. Like they would talk to and conversate with everyone else but it was really like cold and awkward when it came to me. Im not implying anything this is just my expirence, clearly I'm still rating it 4 stars because in general I had a fine expirence and they got the job done.

from December 2021 I have had an eye irritation and have been seeing Dr. Jarrell for a few weeks now. He prescribed some eyedrops and has been following up with me, more than one time. He is very conscientious and has told me some other OTC eyedrops to discontinue forever. I will see him again for annual checkup in another few weeks. Dr. Jarrell provides excellent eyecare. 5 Stars from February 2020 I had another exam in February 2020 with Dr. Robert Jarrell at Orbit. He was not only fun but also extremely proficient at his job. He did his work quickly and was very professional. My eyes are very light sensitive and he saw that and made my exam easy for me and comfortable without my ever having to verbalize it. Excellent Eye Care! 5 Stars from 2018: I have had many eye exams in my Life but my experience at Orbit was a stand-out. The offices are nice, the staff is friendly and professional, and my eye exam was spectacular. My doctor was very professional, put me completely at ease, and was an expert in her field. My exam was very thorough and yet was done in optimal time. I was very pleased with my entire visit. Definitely recommend! 5 Stars

I visited this location myself and then took one of my daughters. The visits were easy, and straight forward. Dr. Robert Jarrell III was very informative, and let us know what was going on each step of the way. My glasses were a bit tough to find my prior prescription (the Trifocal lenses were very small compared to my distance lenses), but they were persistent and finally got it. I love that you can type all the eye and medical information into their website instead of having to write out pages of info (I have a long medical history.) Thank you for the friendly staff & Drs at Orbit!

I love this place they are always so good with their patients. (2nd street location). I will say however that I went to alameda location and the service was horrible!! I ordered my contacts at end of visit. They said they call when they can in. No call.... So I called and they said the order was never placed. To make things worse That exact Scenario thing happened twice. That was in Jan. I still don’t have my contacts. I’ll never go back there again

This appointment was actually my daughter's appointment. During a routine eye exam, Dr. O'Neal discovered an issue. She was EXTREMELY diligent in having an eye surgeon consult with us. Unfortunately, it was a Saturday, but she did not give up and found a surgeon who was willing to consult with us the same day (after hours). We are so grateful to Orbit Eyecare and their staff for assisting us with a very difficult situation. They went above and beyond!!

I went to the elder Dr. Jarrell for years until his retirement and now frequent the younger Dr. Jarrell for my eye exams. I have always been very pleased with my optometric care with this practice, the doctors are very knowledgeable and their staff are similarly professional. Terri, their optician on staff. is very capable and will go the extra mile to explain or accommodate patients. They do not try to over-sell, that is, tell you that you need a new eye prescription that is unnecessary. My father was an optometrist who ran a statewide study group and was on the state board of examiners for optometric licensing so I am pretty particular about my eyes and my optometric care. I can highly recommend Dr. Jarrell and Orbit Eyecare & Optical.
