I have worn glasses most of my life. My prescription is kind of unusual in order to allow me to see in 3D. Dr Thai is an amazing Doctor. She has an excellent way of communicating with her patients (she has also taken care of my son who is difficult to get an answer from) she is truly committed to your best health. Her staff is also friendly and do their best to make sure your busy runs smooth. If you’re looking for a new eye doctor, I would highly recommend Dr. Thai

Dr. Thai!! There’s a reason she has 5 STARS!! She’s thorough, patient (yes sees children) knowledgeable and experienced. Her attention to detail is apparent during visits, staff is on point and on time. She is as meticulous with her office as she is with her patients. Bathrooms are private, LARGE, super clean and is that a Diaper Genie!? She thinks of everything. Highly recommend.

Although I initially felt disappointed and somewhat stranded upon learning that I would not be able to see Dr. Guggino anymore because he had finally retired (which I would have known if I had kept up to date with my annual exams), it had to happen sometime, and obviously I hope he is having the time of his life. I had almost decided to pick out an optometrist at random from my Medicare provider list because I thought all I really needed was for my eyeglass prescription to be changed. But when I called and found out about Dr. Guggino, I was offered an appointment with Dr. Donovan, an MD like Dr. Guggino, at a very convenient time, in a few days, which was today, so I took it, and I have received the most thorough eye exam of my life. (I have to say this once and get it out of my system: It was "eye-opening!") Okay. I filled out all of the forms in advance, like 99% of us do now, and although it was challenging to do on my phone (I don't have a computer) so the forms were displayed in a weird way, wrapping around, disappearing off the screen, jumping back up to the top and I couldn't be sure anything I typed was registering, it really is more convenient, probably more accurate, and it is the way things are done nowadays, so even though you can't see it, you have to assume it's working and take your time and do it, rather than the old-school clipboard in the waiting room with the TV etc. and trying to finish on time. This issue of the forms is truly the only non-positive observation I can come up with in making my critique. Okay, yes, there was also a wait, but there always is, everywhere except where you complain that they are rushing you, plus I'm not doing anything particularly time-sensitive or earth-shattering. On top of that, I had mixed up my appointment time so I was ridiculously early. The office is very comfortable, cooler and cleaner than my house. The neighborhood is safe--if you don't feel safe meditating on a garden behind glass in Golfview/Palma Ceia, I don't know what to tell you. I don't take the bus, but it is on the bus line. So I waited a bit and then they called me. I received the traditional vision exam i had sought out, performed by a very professional but friendly optometry tech (?job title?) who reviewed my whole medical history with me, asked questions, did not rush things, explained what she was doing and why, and it was your basic textbook perfect refraction exam. But then the surprises started! Suffice it to say that Dr. Donovan, as far as I can tell a warm and personable man, clearly wicked smart but down to earth, found that I have: early cataracts, a hole (!) in my retina, maybe old (!), which would need close followup and might benefit from surgery at some point (and told me what to do if I should experienced signs of a retinal tear). I also have early glaucoma, but wait--there's more: imaging showed thinning of the optic nerve. (Imaging, by the way, was performed on site because they have the equipment. One-stop shop.) Nobody has ever discovered any of these before, but I don't think anybody has ever looked. I think it's also important to note that Dr. Donovan delivered all this new and unsettliing information with the proper degree of gravity to ensure that I would take it seriously and be vigilant about my followup (and I will!), but without scaring me. That is not something everybody can do or even credit the importance of doing. We are going to discuss my eyeglass prescription when I go back for followup, but that has become rather lower priority in the scheme of things. They did their job by getting me in the door, at least. If you need thorough, professional eye care by a team of health care specialists who are not just going through the HMOtions, I believe you will be impressed by the Florida Eye Specialists & Cataract Institute. I know they treat people of all ages, but I suspect they have a lot of older patients, based on the waiting room demographic today. Regardless of your specs (pun intended), I believe they will make you feel as welcome as they did me. Thank you.

The doctor is very nice . He’s quick and thorough . His staff is great also . I did have an issue at the front desk in regards to my referrals . Made a trip and no one called me ahead of time to let me know that the referral was not received . However , when it was cleared up it was well worth it . My 7 year old suddenly developed strabismus - he said she was extremely near sighted . After glasses her eyes are great and have corrected themselves . I totally recommend this place ..

This is a wonderful office! I got scratched on my eye the night before and they were able to squeeze me in to an emergency appointment for the morning. I spoke with Hailey who was so kind and accommodating. When I arrived there, Eric ( I believe who is one of the nurses) was so caring and making me laugh. I think he could tell I was panicking a little about my eye and I needed some reassurance. I really appreciated the quality of care and ensuring I was okay while there. I went to the wrong location at my first appt and even though they couldn’t see me the same day I got an appt 2 days later. The front desk lady was very nice at the Brandon office and took my insurance and everything to speed my next visit. At the south tampa office the front desk guy has a big heart. He is definitely a great asset to the clinic. Dr.López on the other hand was very nice and knowledgeable. My daughter is only 3 months old and I must day I love the attention and all the tool they use for little kids. I definitely enjoy the visit and will definitely continue to go back. Thanks

He did a beautiful job on my husband’s upper and lower eyelids and I am very pleased with the results of the closure/reconstruction (canthoplasty) he performed on me following the removal of a basal-cell carcinoma on my lower lid. Today was our final follow up with Dr. Applebaum. As expected from previous visits, all went well and his friendly demeanour and professionalism continues to impress us. The technician Zoran, made me feel comfortable, at home and took his time to explain all he did. Dr Samy, on the other hand, looked and gave the impression that he was soooo rushed, that the 4 - 5 minutes I had with him made me feel pressured and uncomfortable, and I did not dare ask more than 2 questions. If you experience dry eyes, you should know that Tampa Bay now has an expert who trained at the famous Wilmer Eye Clinic, Johns Hopkins Hospital. I met Dr Priya Matthews at Hopkins when I sought treatment for severe auto immune eye dryness by the world expert Dr Esen Akpek. I am forever grateful to Dr Akpek for saving my vision and for providing world class training to Dr Matthews. Now I can receive my specialized eye treatments in Tampa Bay. Dr Matthews is kind & knowledgeable and I look forward to getting such excellent care. By the way, the Office staff are very helpful and nice.
