My daughter just saw Dr Tien last Monday and has been seeing him since she was 5yrs. She's now 13yrs and he makes her feel very comfortable. Also as a parent I am very satisfied with the service my daughter receives. The Staff are very friendly and helpful. Her eyes sight has greatly improved and she doing great.

Dr Chan and Dr Tien are the absolute best. My kids love them and they are extremely knowledgeable and helped my daughter with a very rare eye disorder. We can not thank them and their wonderful staff enough.

I took my 10 yo son here bc his school nurse recommended a full exam due to possible astigmatism. We met with Dr. Michael Langue who was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions thoroughly. He even took the time to answer questions regarding my eyesight (I wear both glasses & contacts). I definitely recommend this doctor. Other than that, the things I found tricky about this location was 1) finding parking and 2) locating the actual office. We ended up parking in the ER parking lot and walked over which took time. The receptionist on ground floor gave some instructions on locating the office but it was on the opposite end of where we got off on elevator. I would suggest arriving 30 min in advance to accommodate all the logistics especially if it's your first visit.

Dr. Chan is a dedicated physician that works well with the pediatric population. My daughter had corrective eye surgery that was a success! We were quite anxious before the surgery and she supported us through every step of the way. We've been going to her office for several years and feel very comfortable with her and the staff. I have been bringing my son to see Dr. Chan since he was about 6 months old. She is very educated in her field. What amazes me is how good she is the little ones. Like I mentioned she has been seeing my son SINCE her was very Small. Being educated in a career can easily be learnt, but being able to be patient and caring to get through a visit. Ty Dr Chan. You are a wonderful and amazing Dr.

My son has been going here for 5 almost 6years and I've never had a bad experience. Dr. Tien and his staff is amazing. I cant even make sense of these poor reviews. Maybe look at yourself and ask Did I ask the right questions? Was I vocal enough about my needs or issue? Rather than trashing people. 10/10 in my book. I highly recommend this practice. Unfortunately you cannot please everyone. Someone will always complain about nothing important depending on their day or life. I hope people are wise enough to read pass the negative comments Since they come highly recommended by your pediatricians for a reason.

Doctor and staff were very friendly. My son took his monster truck "Bigfoot" to have his headlights checked too (he was very anxious and nervous about this visit. He is just turned 4) and the nurse/assistant was very acquiescing and put eye drops on the monster truck and did an eye check with him and it helped made my son feel better. Thank you for doing that. Overall very good experience. Would be nice to have some books on eyes for the younger children to read while they wait for 20 minutes with the drops. Maybe even offer a printed off coloring paper on eyes or something just to pass the time for them. Thank you again for your assistance with my sons eye visit.

I took my 7 years old boy there for an eye exam, it was our first visit, Dr Chan was super friendly, patience and the staffs there are very nice as well we were late couldn’t find a parking spot, because is right next to the hospital, I called to the office told them we are running a little bit late, they were super nice and didn’t give us hard time at all Yes ! Kid friendly, professional pediatric opthamology Office. We were seen in an appropriate amount of wait time. They do need to follow up before appointments to see if patients received the appropriate paperwork. We had to fill out a good amount of paperwork that should have been received before the appointment. Had we known we were going to get the paperwork and didn’t get it, we would’ve called and notified the office. Other than that, I think they deserve the five stars I gave them.

Doctor Tien is the best eye doctor my daughter has ever had, I have 5 children and 4 of them wear glasses so we've been to a couple of eye care doctors around providence and I got to say that Dr. Tien is by far the best even when he did her surgery he's just a 10/10. Best Eye doctor in Providence

As everyone’s experience can be different I’m surprised at the negative reviews. I’ve had great experiences at this office. My son was born with congenital glaucoma , at his one week pediatric visit the pediatrician noticed something was off we were sent to see Dr.Chan that same day. She was able to examine my son and refer us to a glaucoma specialist on Boston. Our son sees Dr.Chan here and our specialist regularly.Dr.Chan is great with our son , and communicates with his specialist as needed. My older daughter is also seen by Dr.Chan she’s 6 now and been going since 3 or4 yrs old. The staff knows us now and have always been good to us. Dr.Chan’s assistant Tanya is pretty great with my kids too Also - they are kind of “on call” for emergencies- there was one time my sons eye was very swollen and because of his glaucoma I didn’t know if it was just pink eye or could be a sign of something worse - I called their emergency line and Dr.Tien met us at the office midday on a Sunday afternoon to examine my son and make sure he didn’t need special attention due to the glaucoma I’ve had nothing but good experiences here

Love Dr. Tien! Amazing pediatric ophthalmologist. He is sincere and has a warm and calm approach towards my almost 2 year old - and my son loves him. Normally my son will have melt downs at doctor’s offices, but not here. Our family feels safe under his care. He diagnosed my son’s esotropia and recommended glasses, and my son has been thriving ever since! Thank you Dr. Tien!

I find the negative reviews about this office surprising as my family have had a great experience. My son has strabismus and needed surgery. I was changing insurance at the end of the month leaving just a few weeks to get him in for pre-op, surgery and post-op, and the staff really went above and beyond to get my son in before my insurance changed (I had already met the deductible for that year, so this saved me $1,000) Dr. Tien is very knowledgeable and experienced and did a great job on our son's surgery. The wait to see the Dr for appointments can be a bit long, but I believe Dr. Tien is worth is.

Edited to add update from surgery and follow up visit - I really wish I could leave a second review. I honestly can not believe this facility/office/doctors/surgeons got such low reviews!! Actually I’m going to add another review with my husband’s account as he completely agreed with me. My 6 year old daughter had her surgery at Hasbro Childrens Hospital (we were unable to go to the other location in Rhode Island because of insurance - we live in Massachusetts). First of all Hasbro and staff are all amazing!!! My daughter was extremely scared even though the office staff (I still forgot to get the woman’s name) did everything possible to make her less uncomfortable. Hasbro was amazing!! My daughter got to drive a ride on car to the surgery (that was her favorite part). Dr. Tien came into the waiting area and talked to us prior to the surgery, he checked her eyes again and again stated that he now felt one eye would be sufficient rather than both. Mind you we have seen 3 or 4 other pediatric ophthalmologists before actually finding out what was going on and that my daughter actually needed surgery. The anesthesiologist came and talked to us both also (everyone talks to my daughter and listens to her, which is rare with a lot of doctors and hospitals) he explained everything to us. I got to go with her to the surgery until she was put to sleep. They keep you updated throughout the whole process extremely well, it only took about half an hour and she was in recovery and they let me go in immediately before she woke up so she never even knew I wasn’t with her. A week later we had our follow up at the office, we were running about 5 minutes late but then we still had to park and get up to the office so really we were like 15 minutes late. The office staff was extremely understanding (I did call to let know running little behind). While in the waiting room the woman that I really like that booked the surgery and saw my daughter before the surgeon came out and was so nice. She asked my daughter how everything was and she reassured her about all of her concerns. She listened to everything my daughter had to say, she was great. When we got called I found out dr. Tien was not in on this particular day but dr. Chen would be seeing us. She was also amazing I’ve excited my words so will continue. needed to share this because I do go by a lot of the reviews I read. Thankfully we were referred to dr tien by our old pediatric ophthalmologist in East Providence who had originally told me my daughter should be out of glasses by the time she got into kindergarten, she was 2 at the time. After a couple years wearing glasses consistently and still not seeing any improvement I looked into vision therapy (my daughter has strambisus (spelled wrong) one of her eyes turns in. I decided to meet with a vision therapist even though it is not covered by insurance and I paid $250 for a full evaluation. It was with that dr that they finally realized my daughter had a larger problem that could be fixed with surgery. She referred me to dr tien in providence so I made the appointment. The office staff was great to deal with when making the original appointment. I took my daughter, we hardly had any wait and I wish I knew the woman’s name (but I know she is from Fall River, has been at the practice for 3 years and she is around 36) she brought us in for the exam which was extremely thorough. My daughter was very nervous but the woman was so understanding and patient. My daughter didn’t want the drops in her eyes, but she waited and convinced her. We met with dr tien, he explained everything to both of us extremely well and again was very patient with my now 6 year old daughter. Today we went for our pre-op (she does need surgery, but he’s hoping only one eye) and again no if any wait. The same woman called us in, and everything was consistent. My daughter has surgery next Thursday I will update mt review again but I had a very good experience here. My daughter can be very difficult and she even likes them!! That’s a rave review!!!

I had to leave an additional review since my daughter has now had surgery on the muscles of her eye for strabismus and we also had one follow up visit. You can read my previous review also for more honest comments. Dr tien performed my daughters surgery and so far everything seems great. Her eye is no longer turning in and she does not need glasses. She had worn glasses for over two years as that is what I was told was needed by two other pediatric ophthalmologists. The glasses were doing nothing and were not needed. At the follow up visit this week the staff was amazing and we saw dr. Chen (I hope I spelled correctly. She was extremely thorough but because my daughter was still not opening that eye (because of having double vision) she decided temporary patching of the good eye would be needed. My daughter (6) tried so hard not to cry but she ended up hysterical, worried about what the eye looked like and that kids at school would be scared, grossed out, or make fun of her. The (I believe she’s a nurse or assistant) woman who sees my daughter before the doctor came in and I explained what was going on. She talked to my daughter for a while reassuring her, and calming her down. She gave her a poster that she could fill up with the patches after she wears them and explained once full they display in the office and she gets a reward. My daughter finally smiled. I can’t believe I didn’t write her name down I will find out but this employee is so nice, you can tell she’s a mom and she is just amazing. If I could give 10 stars I would. Highly recommend this office, the staff, and the doctors!!!
