Dr. Itty is great! He is very knowledgeable and direct. He's also quite personable and friendly. The office staff is cold at first but warm up after a few visits. The office is quite busy, but the collective of specialists works quickly and it's worth the wait. I have regained some of my vision and continue to see improvements. Highly recommend 👌

Dr. Itty was amazing! Excellent as a matter fact. Only issue was initial nurse was very rude wouldn't allow me in the room while giving my dad initial consultation and eye drops. My father used a walker and she just said your done and his walker was several feet away from him, she had zero bed side manner. Reason I was there was to help him when he moved from chair to chair, but I wasn't allowed in the room.

Dr Barakat is very professional and definitely knows his stuff. So far he and his staff has been able to save both my eyes. I have been seeing the Dr for almost 3 years now, I have diabetic problems. They're not 100%, but at least I'm not blind. The doctor also found out I had glaucoma and referred me to an excellent Doctor who did surgery on my eye and he also was very professional. And don't forget to ask him to sing to you he has a beautiful voice. Thank You Very Much Dr!

I had my first appointment with Dr. Barakat. This was a referral through the VA from the Thunderbird Eye Clinic. I found the the staff to be very professional and totally respectful toward me. When I met Dr. Barakat I found very professional and respectful plus a good sense of humor which relaxed me quite a bit. The tests and equipment was top of the line in my opinion all staff that worked with we’re very apologetic due to my photophobia to in Dr. Barakat. After Dr. Barakat explain and showed the photos of what needed to be done. I feel very lucky have Dr. Barakat as my surgeon and have the utmost trust in his staff and him. I got a friend to take me to the appointment and was treated at the facility by Doctor Itty. He was kind and patient and explained each step of the way to me. Other than the process of confirming my appt and the check in process which is redundant, the general environment has vastly improved. The people that do the initial eye exam, dilation etc are much more pleasant than they used to be, the woman with the long blonde hair who calls you to get the injections is very nice. The majority of the women used to have an impatient attitude and did not want to deal with older people, that is not the case now. Having the pictures taken has always been pleasant and easy. It felt less stressful and calmer this last appt and the wait times are much less, it’s great. Back to the confirming of the appt, an email is sent to complete a check in, then a text is sent to say yes or no to confirm, then they call, then when you get to the office they make you use your phone to capture a bar code and complete more of the same paperwork. This could be streamlined, the front area girls are still all there, just doing less, the patients, who some can barely move or see, are doing more of the work. Is this necessary? Janet Gillespie. And of course Dr. K is, as always, the best.

Dr. Mehta is outstanding. I've seen him for many years and trust him completely with my eye care. His practice... not so much. Yesterday I waited 2hrs to see him. They do NOT respect your time and they do NOT care that you have to waste half your day to see him. This happens pretty regularly and appears it will not change. They simply overbook patients and it takes forever. I put up with it because I have history with the Dr and really like him. But the wait times are completely ridiculous! UPDATE: I reached out to the email in the response to my review. They have not responded or made any effort to contact me.

The check in was fair. The preparation was good and the reading or images of the eyes were fair. But the waiting time was terrible. The checking out was fair because the young lady was unfair. I had to asked if I could have the plastic shield for my eyes. She responded ( that is reason why they are the container. Overall, my experience was terrible.

Dr Quinlan is just great. He has a gentle personality and is very careful and caring. I followed him to Phoenix when he discontinued services in Sedona because I like him and trust h so much, but it is getting difficult to schedule appointments at a time that enables me to arrange for both a driver for me and in-home care for my significantly disabled husband. After all these years with such excellent care by Dr Quinlan and his staff, I hate to think of changing physicians but may have to do so.

Most of the staff was pleasant. The person at the desk as you walk out of the appointment that took my chart was very rude. She abruptly told me several times that she was not a surgery scheduler. Not once did she tell me what I needed to do to get scheduled for surgery Due to her rudeness and unwillingness to help me… I walked out of the clinic without filling out surgery paperwork. I thought her behavior was extremely unprofessional. My thoughts were that she certainly didn’t like her job… why would a facility keep someone so rude to the patients that visit their clinic. Certainly didn’t make a positive impression on me.

We really like Dr. Jamal. We give three stars because the experience is horrible. It was bad before and now they’ve added a check in system that requires a tablet or a phone for you to check in. Maybe not the best plan for a place that treats people with low vision. Additionally, the wait is generally horrifying. They are obviously double, triple, or quadruple booking patients at this location. We have been as lucky to be out in an hour, but more frequently we are there for 2 to 3 hours. While many of the staff in the back office, with the doctors, are friendly, the front office staff seems to be very put out that any of us have bothered to show up. The woman who checks us out and sets the next appointment is beyond icy, and seems to be moving closer and closer to hostile. She is so icy that apparently, that if she smiled, her face would crack and fall off. Dr. Jamal deserves a better and friendlier staff in the lobby to represent him.

It's no fun having eyes operated on, but it gives me a small idea of what Saburo Sakai went through, decades ago. Doctors Goldenberg and Mehta are knowledgeable and competent, as well as worrying about their patients. At least they worried about me. They and their staff are very good - efficient, patient, competent. As a rule, I try to arrive early, expecting to wait, but they worked me in anyway, just as if I had followed the rules.

If you have any concerns about your retinas, or your vision in general, then this is the place to make an appointment with ASAP. They have the most modern equipment, and trained professionals for doing a thorough exam of your eyes, and the doctors to correct any eye problem that they diagnose. If it's out of their realm of expertise, then they will recommend a specialist that treats your particular problem. On a personal note, I went to them to have a retinal exam, and Dr. Barakat found out that I had the early signs of Glaucoma (abnormal eye pressure), and referred me to a Glaucoma specialists, who headed off a potentially blind causing problem. I can't thank them enough for their attention to detail.

Dr Goldenberg what is wonderful in helping to repair my retina that had become torn and starting to detach right after I had a bout with Covid. They were able to get me in and get it treated in a timely manner so there would not be more damage done. I am very thankful for his services.

Very modern, clean facility. Easy access from I17. Staff very friendly and helpful. The extra care given to prevent a painful reaction to the iodine was outstanding. I experienced no discomfort whatsoever after the appointment. Not a 5 star rating because: (1) excess wait time. Entire appointment was 2 hours. Fifteen minutes on registration paperwork and approximately 30 minutes with medical staff. The rest of the time, 1.25 hours, was spent in a waiting area. I feel this was excessive. (2) When I was done, I was not given any aftercare information or instructions ( the treated eye now has a large bloodshot area in the lower, etc corner. Injection site ? No one to contact for this kind of issue ). COVID control was very good. Felt safe. Recommend this medical facility: yes

Although this appears to be an efficient operation because the personnel moves you from test to test and after an hour and a half you get to the doctor. The doctor sits at the computer with his back to you. He asks one question, gets up shines a light in your eye and goes back to the computer. Woman appears from behind you and moves you out of the room to another chair. Less than 3 minutes ‘with the doctor’ and no conversation. Another test. Woman comes to ‘answer my questions’ but she does not. I leave totally confused what just happened?! Get home and a woman calls to tell me the name of what is wrong with my eye and tell me I need another appointment in January. No details why I need another appointment. I have never felt so confused after a ‘doctor’ appointment; if you can call a doctor on a computer with his back to you an no conversation a doctor appointment. AND someone else calls to comment on the eye issue. 30 April 2022 After a few months of looking at the back of the eye specialist in 2021, I changed to a different doctor at Retinal Consultants of Arizona. This eye specialist communicates. I don’t always like his honest truthful comments, but I like that he gives me information concerning this eye issue. I am a person who has always stepped up to solve my issues and continue to move forward in life. This eye issue is confusing and frustrating to me because there does not seem to be an obvious trigger and without that fact the eye issue continues unsolved. I trust this doctor I am working with because I recognize he is giving all the facts known at this time. Thank you.

Doctor Palajwala was very professional in manner and appearance. It took a while to get me worked into the line up but I was sort of an urgent case due to a head injury that resulted in numerous new "floaters" of a dense nature appearing in my left eye. The Dr assured me that there was probably no retinal damage after a 10 min exam but the suggested a repeat exam in 8 weeks. Only disagreeable note is the lack of sanitary wiping of surfaces that I was asked to place my face into.

I started seeing Dr. Jamal quite some time ago, was diagnosed with “macular pucker,” and had surgery performed. I have continued to see Dr. Jamal for follow-up visits but have become dissatisfied. I am dilated every time I have a visit, but, over the last several visits, Dr. Jamal has not done a physical exam of the eye except when I asked about a specific issue that another doctor suggested I might be dealing with. He has looked at the scan done at the beginning of the visit (before dilation would make much difference, I presume), made notes, and adjusted my medication. This generally takes between an hour-and-a-half and two hours. In my last several visits, the doctor has done nothing more than adjust my medication. I go in one month and pressures are too high. Medication is adjusted upward. I go in the next month and things have improved. Medication is adjusted downward. I go in the next month and pressures are too high... You get the picture. It seems a bit like guesswork. I know that some things take time, but this seems to be an indefinite cycle. I understand that the doctor cannot prioritize me over others and that I may have to wait to see him. I know that dilation is necessary in case the doctor may have to do a physical exam. I also know that the doctor could bring me in, look at the scan, and let me go if he does not need to look into the eye. This would generally shave 45 minutes to an hour off of the appointment time, and it would be reasonable, based on the fact that, apparently, no physical exam has been particularly necessary for months. Because of my insurance, I pay $75 each time I have an appointment with Dr. Jamal. This is not “pocket change,” and I would think it would be enough to have me treated like a patient with one good eye and worries about losing his vision instead of like someone next up in a large retail chain’s customer service line. In other words, I would like to be treated with personal attention, like a valued patient. Dr. Jamal strikes me as a good doctor, but there are certainly areas in which the practice could improve.

Excellent doctors! Wife had a retina detachment on Super Bowl Sunday of all days. We called every eye doctor in the valley, a bunch called us back but no one would help her. They didn't care. Retinal Consultants of Arizona not only called us back, again ... on Super Bowl Sunday but actually opened their office so she could receive care. By morning she was in surgery and they fixed her all up. Kudos to your team! No one else cared if she lost her eye sight.
