I was a patient of Dr Varma since 2005 and I followed him from Doheny Eye Institute to the USC Eye Institute and presently to the Southern California Eye Institute. In 2005, I was diagnosed by a Ophthalmologist that I have glaucoma and he needed to do surgery on my eye. So before I agreed to the surgery, I decided to get a second opinion with Dr Varma who was then attached to the Doheny Eye Institute. Dr Varma examined my eyes thoroughly and told me that I don't have glaucoma. Dr Varma has been my glaucoma specialist since 2005 till today 2022, and till today I don't have glaucoma. I have full faith and confidence in Dr Varma's professionalism and expertise in taking care of my eyes.

This is a wonderful place to see a professional Wye specialist. If you have Glacoma. These Dr's are professional, the staff is friendly and are willing to accommodate your schedule if necessary. The hospital staff us efficient and friendly as well.

Truly the best medical care I’ve ever received!!! Everyone at the office is exceptionally kind and patient and I actually looked forward to all my visits. Dr. Ora took so much time with me to make sure I got my correct prescription—she listened and reassured and made me feel so taken care of in a way I literally never have experienced and I’ve been wearing contacts since the 4th grade. Also a shout out to Isabelle at the front desk who is so friendly and Vanessa who always remembered and asked about stuff that was happening with me! I almost am sad I don’t get to go back for 6 more months haha. Thank you for everything, Dr. Ora and team!

Very professional and friendly. Appointments are seen within 5-10 minutes of appointed time. Daniel is outstanding associate, personally assists patients while coordinating associates and acting as chief assistant to Dr. Varma. Medical assistants or opthamology techs have a productive and comfortable relationship with the doctor. Don't see the kind of elitism that I expected from one with his stature. He also serves as new Hollywood Presbyterian COO! No one else was willing to take risk to operate on Mom's eyes AGAIN or change her meds from those that were causing pain. Different demographics respond to eye drugs completely differently. So we are learning that medicine requires not just surgical knowledge, manual dexterity, and mental stamina, BUT ALSO boldness or extreme confidence. Amazing to also find in the doc, humility and a great sense of humor (despite the immense pressure). HE MAKES THIS ALL LOOK SO EASY. We have been to USC Keck and New Doheny and Jules Stein UCLA, Doc Varma has the best bed side manner and kindness. He alleviates fear of the knife. He treats everyone with dignity and respect. This is priceless for the healing process.

I'm incredibly impressed with the professionalism, intelligence and the care Dr. Ora Esfahani was able to provide. I scratched my cornea which is a very traumatic and painful occurrence, and she provided me with immediate medical care and treatments. She carefully walked me through why my eye is feeling the way that it was, possible treatments and truly listened to me with every step a long the way. Dr. Ora's comfort and honesty she provided is something I have never witnessed with another doctor. She offers the least invasive options first, provides excellent recommendations with specialists, and you can truly tell that she cares for her patients. So glad to have met Dr. Ora and couldn't recommend her enough.

The eye doctor was very nice and extremely thorough during her exam. I have definitely found my forever eye doctor. If you're wondering about the 4 star instead of a 5 star, well that's because it's extremely hard to call the office to speak to someone. I had a few questions with no luck.

Dr. Ora was both caring and through in her examination of my eyes. The staff was competent in their explanations of each individual procedure and also extremely hygienic while handling tools, eye pieces, and applying eyedrops to my eyes. I felt I was given complete understandable instructions when tested and at all points in the examination given ample opportunity to ask any questions. The friendly manner of the office from the first step in to the last step out is calming and welcomed.

Dr. Alena Reznik is an amazing ophthalmologist, surgeon and kind, compassionate person. I’m an ophthalmologist myself and I trust my parents’ vision and eye health in her hands!!!! In fact, a few of my ophtho friends (who work for a set insurance and our parents don’t have the same insurance) go see Dr. Reznik! The office is very efficient and thorough re: authorizations and scheduling. It’s super modern. We feel my parents are well taken care of with Dr. Reznik and SCEI.

Dr Varma and his team have been taking good care of me. I suffer from glaucoma and am applying a number of drops in both eyes. My pressure seems to be ok now. Only time will tell. Dr Varma’s team members are helpful and friendly. I enjoy interacting with them. I hope Dr Varma will help keep my eyesight in good shape. The optometrist was very nice and professional .

On 5/12/20 I was referred to Southern California Eye Institute’s Dr. Alena Reznik for treatment/management of my serious glaucoma (by my cataract surgeon, after the installation of two stents in each eye during the cataract surgery failed to reduce the pressure/glaucoma). The SCEI staff are very cooperative and efficient in scheduling and managing appointments. Dr. Alena Reznik, as the team leader, is a compassionate listener and readily discusses my diagnostic status and the treatment options. I am particularly impressed with her willingness to request input from other physicians for their opinions/suggestions of treatment options. (In my 45+ years in the medical arena as an Occupational Therapist, I have had the privilege of working with a number of physicians and have noted that the truly great physicians are those who are willing to ask colleagues/consultants for opinions to assure that the best possible treatment options are used). Based on my experiences, I rate Dr. Alena Reznik and the SCEI staff as the tops, 10 out of 10, and give this program the highest of recommendations. (s) Jim C.
