Great experience. First, parking was easy -- I found nearby street parking and avoided the pricey back parking lot. Once I arrived, his office staff was cheery, kind and professional. Unlike other medical offices, they took me at my appointment time with undue waiting. The music in the office was unique -- jazz -- which I enjoyed very much. The assistants were very capable, efficient and friendly. The office was clean and uncluttered, but seem to have all the newest high tech equipment. Dr. Lazar was excellent. He examined my eye and thoroughly explained my problem (partial retinal detachment ,which turned out to be not serious), and stayed a few extra minutes to make sure I did not have any further questions. One of the most efficient and friendly experiences I have ever had at a doctor's office.

Dr Lazar was wonderful. I'd never been to a retinal specialist, and was referred by my optometrist after they noticed a hole in my retina. Dr. Lazar was personable and informative, made me feel comfortable and confident. While I am not currently in need of further treatment, I'll definitely be back in his office if/when I am in need.

I was referred to Dr Lazar's office by Dr Golbahar, my optometrist at Village Eyes in Westwood. She recommended that I receive a second opinion from Dr Lazar regarding the floater in my left eye because she said that she could only see 90% of my retina with her instruments and equipment, whereas he would be able to see 100% with his. She felt that my experience with Dr Lazar and his office would be much better than if she referred me to a retina specialist at the UCLA Jules Stein Eye Institute in Westwood, which some patients have felt is more of a production line or a factory because there are just so many patients, some who have to wait for hours to get seen even with appointments. She was absolutely right :) ! I am really grateful that she recommended me to Dr Lazar and his staff :D ! His scheduler Mindy and his assistant Karsten are really welcoming and friendly :) ! Karsten was really thorough and recorded my medical history and conducted my necessary eye tests and eye scans smoothly. He really helped to ease any trepidation and apprehension I initially had when I first walked in :) ! Their super updated technology interestingly reminded me of disco lights. I have never seen any technology quite like theirs in an ophthalmology office :D ! Dr Lazar went over the cross-sectional images that Karsten had taken of both of my eyes. He confirmed that the floater in my left eye is due to a vitreous detachment in my left eye, and assured me that this is common in people like me who are so nearsighted. Much to my relief, he confirmed that I don't have a retinal detachment in my left eye, which would certainly be more serious. However, he said to call his office right away if I notice a tremendous increase in the number of floaters, or anything unusual. I was really impressed with his clear explanation by using analogies that made complete sense and his warm and friendly bedside manner :) ! I was also really impressed by Mindy and Karsten as well, who were very upbeat, optimistic and friendly :) ! Upon my request the day after for an itemized receipt of my patient payment for my office visit, their office promptly generated and emailed this to me right away :D ! I would highly recommend their boutique-style office to all of my friends and colleagues :D !! The entire visit feels extremely personalized and you really feel well taken care of :) !! I have to admit that the parking situation is not the most ideal. The actual parking lot adjacent to the medical building itself is really convenient, and is hardly full. So for sure, you always have the option to park right in the lot right next to the building. However, it can get pretty expensive if your parking duration exceeds a certain amount of time. I parked down the street on Federal Avenue since street parking is free during certain hours (just make sure you really read the signs before you do street parking). But because my appointment was around mid-morning, there were already so many cars parked on the street. Depending on when your appointment is, and how many cars are already parked on the street, you might have to park really far down for free parking. Dr Lazar and his staff were pretty good about seeing me in such a timely manner. So I got in and out pretty quickly and it was still a high-quality visit :D !!

Since 2019 Dr. Lazar has monitored by retinas and on each visit provided very professional care. I can not speak highly enough about Dr. Lazar's knowledge, professionalism and ability to make a patient feel comfortable. In his very relaxed manner, he asked questions, listened and then responded with information explained in lay persons' terms. Further clarity came when he showed me photos of my eyes and again made sure I had no additional concerns. 5 stars are not enough! I had my first Visit with Dr. Lazar today. After just one visit it made sense why they have all 5-star reviews. I would definitely recommend Dr. Lazars practice to friends and family. From the moment I walked in, I immediately noticed the immaculate office & was warmly greeted by Carson. He was personable, professional and thorough. The diagnostic equipment in the office was state of the art and I was not rushed at any point during my examination or visit. Dr. Lazar was lovely. He was extremely knowledgeable regarding retina/eye health, as well as, how particular pharmaceuticals may affect my eye health. I felt confident in his observations, summary and in his plan for me moving forward. He was also patient and thorough and had a wonderful bedside manner. Both Carson and Dr. Lazar might be some of the few people during the pandemic that I knew were smiling behind their masks, their eyes truly smiled which was sweet irony for an “eye doctor.”

Dr. Lazar, and his staff, were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. I was referred to Dr. Lazar by my ophthalmologist because I've been experiencing flashing zigzag lights that lasted a short time but were worrying me. I was given a thorough examination including vision testing and pictures were taken. Dr. Lazar explained that I described a visual migraine, despite the lack of a headache. It resolves after about 20 minutes and there are no residual effects. He was reassuring and told me not to worry about it unless it starts happening more often and last longer than 30 minutes. He also told me to call anytime if I had questions or concerns. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Lazar Retina to anyone.

This is my second visit to make sure my eyes have not changed. Once again, I was impressed with how efficiently his office administrator, Gonrado, took new photos of my eyes for Dr. Lazar’s examination. Dr. Lazar recapped our first exam, and on his large screen, showed the new photo for each eye compared with the photo taken at my last visit, explaining what he is following and why, concluding there was no change. I am so glad I found Dr. Lazar by chance on Yelp! He is super thorough, explains all those complicated eye details in a way I can understand. Plus he specializes in the retina where my eyes are starting to need help!

He explained everything in layman's terms, and for once, I understood it all. My husband, the skeptical lawyer, was with me, and after 40 years, I can honestly say, not many people impress him...except Dr. Lazar did that day...because he diagnosed my problem, that no one had been able to in over a year, with just talking to me. This was an examination in conjunction with continuing recovery from surgical replacement of an intraocular lens (IOL) by another ophthalmologist. Dr. Lazar performed a meticulous examination, and offered a highly detailed explanation of the condition of the retina, comprehensively explained the results of his findings. Golden highly professional team, knowledgeable and patient doctor, super nice receptionist, and skilled optometrist. Unlike some practices where staff always keep an eye on the clock, here you can make sure they keep an eye peeled to any sight issue you might have, and are all eyes and ears as you express your doubts and fears (and they sure kept a blind eye to my dumb questions.) Thank you Doctor Lazar for providing a bird's eye view of my treatment. Those guys rock, you can go there with your eyes closed!
