Dr. Devgan came highly recommended. And was more than justified. He operated on both my parents for cataract surgery. His professionalism combined with his bedside manner were impeccable which certainly is important when you are trusting someone with your parent's vision and eye surgery. I cannot possibly thank him enough and I couldn't imagine trusting anyone more with dangerous and important eye surgeries for people I love.

Dr. Devgan is a great surgeon, excellent work and with nice personality. I am able to see close up 20/20. Since I live far from the Surgical Center, he operated me as the first patient so my friend can drive me home without heavy traffic – very considerate, indeed! It is also important to mention his office’s front desk run by 3 nice ladies (Lucy/Alice/Mary) – courteous and helpful! Jodi also terrific in explaining the procedure and detail. Highly recommended!

Dr. Devgan's manner is extremely caring, and he never rushes you in appointments, cheerfully answering questions and supplying detailed information. I am extremely pleased with Dr. Devgan and all of his office staff. Everyone is courteous and professional. Dr. Devgan is very friendly and interested in answering every question that I had about the cataract surgery. He actually gives you his cell phone and lets you know that he is available to address any concerns 24/7. The surgery center is pristine and their nurses and anesthesiologist were all wonderful. The procedure is very quick and I had absolutely no knowledge that anything had happened until I woke up with incredible new vision. When I went to see Dr. Devgan a week after my procedures, he checked my eyes and let me know that I had better than 20/20 vision in both eyes. It is a huge relief as these will be for the rest of my life! I had originally gone to a different surgeon who was recommended by my optometrist. Dr. Devgan is amazing and the very best! I had suffered with cataracts for a couple of years and I was fearful of having the surgery. After meeting Dr. Devgan, I was much more relaxed as he took time with me to completely explain the procedure. We also talked about my goals and life style so he determined which type of lenses would be best for me. The day of the surgery, Dr. Devgan came into my preparation area and sat down and talked with me which furthered my comfort. The surgery seemed like it was over in just minutes, no pain, nothing scary and I left the surgery center with no heavy patches over my eye(s), just a pair of dark glasses because my eyes were dilated. After wearing glasses for 54 years, I no longer need to wear glasses, my vision is 20/20!! Dr. Devgan is far beyond an excellent surgeon. I was referred to Dr Devgan by my friend who is an eye surgeon. He told me he sent his own mother to Dr Devgan and said I must go to him because he has seen him perform Cataract surgery and that he is the best there is. My optometrist had referred me to a different doctor and my friend said he knows the other doctor and Dr Devgan is definitely better. Come to find out later that my optometrist was receiving a referral fee by the other doctor. Dr Devgan is no less than a miracle worker. I had severe cataract and very small eyes and corneas that are very steep making my surgery a difficult one. A day after surgery and I have 20/20 vision without glasses! Which by the way I’ve never had in my whole life. I feel like I have a new lease on life! Dr Devgan is also the sweetest man! Completely available throughout the whole process. The staff at the surgery center is kind and respectful. I don’t know how my experience could have been better.

The entire experience went smoothly and Dr Devgan is ranked the top Doctor in California for cataracts! He takes the time to answer your questions and even gives you his email and cell number for any post op issues! He responds quickly and his equipment is state of the art! Dr Devgan is the top cataract and lens surgeon in the United States. He did outstanding laser surgery on both my eyes. No pain and he kept me informed prior to and after the surgery. My elderly mother was having difficulty reading and her driving vision was seriously impaired. Dr. Devgan performed cataract surgery on both of her eyes and her vision is perfect. Dr. Devgan is absolutely the BEST in 360 degrees. He is my 10-star doctor. Besides being an extremely skilled surgeon, I find he is also a very kind, caring and diligent doctor based on my recent (April and June 2022) cataract surgery experience with Dr. Devgan and his awesome team. I’m a high-risk patient with high myopia (-16D) and always feel nervous going for eye exam. At the measurement visit, Dr. Devgan showed me the machine calculations and explained it’s a little bit off for high myopia patients. He’ll use a software to recalculate again for accuracy. The software uses the actual patient’s data sent to the database by eye surgeons across the nations. Dr Devgan is the owner of the software. Dr. Devgan recommended a target vision and explained why. It’s different from the target I had in mind. I chose to go with my target at the visit since I’ve thought about the target I want for so long. Dr. Devgan said he’ll do my target and I can change mind anytime. Later on, I realized doctor’s recommendation is better and emailed Dr. Devgan to change the target. Looking back now, I’m glad I changed to the target that’s recommended by the doctor. My vision now exceeds my expectation! I feel Dr. Devgan make the tough decision process easier on patient’s end, while take extra efforts at his end. Although I live in Texas while Dr. Devgan is in California, I feel I have the doctor close to me as I can email him anytime. He responded to my emails quickly every time. He also gave me his cell phone number for me to text/call him for urgent matter. I didn’t have the need to use that. At the surgery day, Dr. Devgan greeted me and confirmed with me the target vision we want to achieve before going to the operating room. In the operating room, I recall the nurse read out loudly the lens manufacture, power for double checking within the operating team. I like the professional due diligence they do. Dr. Devgan gave me eye drops and guided me to see the center of the lights. I don’t recall anything after that. I like to commend Dr. Devgan’s patient coordinator Jodi. She scheduled the appointments to make it easier on my end, even considering the traffic. She called me several times to remind me various things, including stop using the yellow bottle eye drop two weeks after the surgery, although the written pre-operation and post-operation instruction is already very clear and informative. In a word, she is awesome! I was suffering from vision problems and wanted to have cataract surgery since 2015, but fear for complication. If you like me, a high-risk patient, I strongly suggest you to go see Dr. Devgan no matter where you live. It took me two trips to complete the journey. My husband and I both feel it’s absolutely worth and is one of the best decisions we have ever made. Thank you so much, Dr. Devgan and your awesome team!!

Dr. Devgan, is amazing. I am so glad we chose Dr. Devgan to perform my cataract surgeries. My cataracts were not severe, but after several years, they were getting to the point that the lens was cloudy enough that my vision could not be corrected back to 2020 with corrective lenses. My corneas have residual damage from from the 18 and 22 cut radial keratotomy (RK) surgeries performed on my eyes 37 years ago in 1885. The ophthalmologists I have seen over the last 10 years warned of difficulties in the cataract surgery for patients with extensive RK cuts. No need to enumerate them here, plenty of resources online describe these difficulties. We spent weeks seeking out researching and researching experts with experience performing cataract surgery for patients with extensive RK cuts. Our search led us to Dr. Uday Devgan. Our initial consultation Tuesday 6/14/2022 with Dr. Devgan was refreshing and encouraging. During the very few minutes we were waiting in the lobby, there was Dr. Devgan, talking with patients, informative, reassuring, so friendly and upbeat. After Dr. Devgan‘s cheerful and competent technicians conducted an extensive battery of tests, Dr. Devgan, spent more time with me and my wife than I have spent with any other physician. I felt like I had a one-on-one graduate discussion with a leading instructor at UCLA, where I believe Dr. Devgan, is still teaching. Dr. Devgan, showed us actual videos of how the surgery is performed on eyes of patients even more damaged than mine. Between our initial consultation and the surgery, I sent Dr. Devgan, lots of questions on numerous occasions, which he answered thoroughly, usually within less than an hour, sometimes with supporting research materials. The preoperative instructions were very clear, and I followed them exactly as prescribed. Dr. Devgan, performed the cataract surgery on my left eye Monday 7/18/2022. I think everyone is pretty much “creeped out“ by anything being done to their eyes. I was partially sedated, and my experience was like a pleasant and interesting dream with really nice people taking care of me. Nothing to be “creeped out“ about. I took fairly detailed notes during recovery. It was about a week before my vision started to improve. Improvements were gradual, and fairly well stabilized after a month, I was able to get corrective lenses. This was a tough transition period, not a good time to plan anything that requires lots of reading. And once again, during this recovery period, lots more questions for Dr. Devgan. I recall one of Dr. Devgan‘s responses, on a Saturday no less, took just 15 minutes. I think you get the idea. With Dr. Devgan, you will get: The best care available, Someone who is really on your team, Faster responses to your questions than you ever thought possible from medical practitioners, and A feeling more like a visit with friends than a trip to the doctor. Let me start by saying Dr. Devgan is one of the nicest doctors you'll run into. I went to him for elective lens replacement to correct my presbyopia and my distance vision getting to the point where glasses were becoming a need. During the consultation we decided that the Panoptix trifocals were a good option. Surgery was so easy. The prep team was extremely nice and Dr. Devgan's placement of the new lenses was perfect. The day after surgery I was seeing so good. I haven't been able to type on the laptop for years without reading glasses, but here I am typing this without the slightest need for glasses. I just completed intraocular lens exchange on my 2nd eye this week…the procedures on both eyes were quick and painless. Prior to surgery, I had pre-existing conditions that require skills and expertise to adjust my vision. I wore eyeglasses since elementary school and now I can wake up and not have to reach for my glasses anymore. Dr. Devgan has not only removed my cataracts, I also opted for my Astigmatism to be corrected, and could use care credit thru the office as well. Please note, I am in the 1% of severe astigmatism and Dr. Devgan corrected this with 20/20 vision! I had the complication of having had radial keratotomy when I was younger, so when I had the cataract surgery done on my right eye by another "top" surgeon for twice the cost ($6000it was a nightmare!! For years I searched for a ophthalmologist who understood the issues, challenges, and struggles a person with high myopia and high astigmatism faces – in my case -15.75 & cyl -3.75. When it came time to consider cataract surgery, I found by accident Uday’s "Cataract Coach for Doctors” on YouTube. I contacted him immediately and he wrote back the next day that he could help. During our first consult, Uday mapped out what my options were and the risks and results I could expect. I'm conversant with my eye issues and appreciated that Uday engaged in conversation that was both helpful and technical. I wanted all the information and he happily gave it to me, plus answered any and all questions I had. Uday used his extensive experience, not just computer recommendations, to hand pick the correct lenses for my situation and I believe his process will be covered in a new "Cataract Coach" video. I was still worried about the first surgery, but after a few more conversations with Uday, I moved forward. During my recovery I kept it touch via text which was reassuring. He often texted back in minutes. The end result? A month after surgery I easily see 20/25 and can see 20/20 with both eyes. The last time I read the 20/20 line, I was in 3rd grade. The bummer-I lost the high myopia microscopic vision that is the only advantage of being so near-sighted. However, it’s a small price to pay for the ability to choose any pair of non-prescription sunglasses I want, passing the DMV eye test and getting back in the air as a private pilot because I can now pass the FAA eye exam. After my vision in my left eye was heavily compromised by a cataract, I went to a local eye surgeon hoping to have cataract surgery. When he told me I had significant adhesions (synechiae) and a membrane in that eye that had stuck part of my lens to my iris and would complicate my surgery, it seemed to me as though he didn’t have much experience in dealing with a situation like that. So I decided to go to a complex cataract expert at a famous eye clinic, expecting to be reassured that he could handle it. But he shocked and frightened me by explaining that my adhesions were so extensive that there was a very good chance my surgery would fail. “Don’t worry,” he added, “if that happens you can have a more extensive surgery or surgeries to fix it.” This doctor talked at such great length about failure that my apprehension grew, and he also refused to give me any idea what my chances of success might be, or what those extra surgeries might involve. I felt lost. I did a lot of online research to discover if there was an alternative for me, and after a great deal of searching I located Dr. Devgan. Reading about him at his website, and reading so many enthusiastic reviews from people who had had other complicated situations whom he had helped, gave me heart and hope. I resolved to go to Los Angeles and see him. I was fortunate to obtain an appointment only about three weeks from my call. Everyone working at Dr. Devgan’s office was friendly efficient, and upbeat. At my consultation, Dr. Devgan spoke with quiet assurance, saying that the surgery was something he could do. He gave me a sense of peace and confidence. I realized there were still dangers and risks, but I felt that I had gone to the best person possible to deal with a delicate surgery. I had my surgery a month ago, and so far (knock wood!) my vision is transformed, sharp and clear in that eye. Dr. Devgan was also extremely responsive and accessible. It really is true that he does answer emails and calls in a very timely fashion. I’m not sure how he does it – does the man sleep? – but it is another facet of his superior patient care. Words really can’t suffice to thank him enough.

Dr. Uday Devgan is an excellent ophthalmologist. He has extensive knowledge of the eye, cataracts, lenses and types of surgery needed. I saw another ophthalmologist before but felt uncomfortable and consulted Dr. Devgan due to his reputation and I am so glad I did. His bedside manner is superior; he made me feel at home in his office and at the surgery center. After my visit, I had full confidence in him and his surgical skills and this is very important as your vision is at stake. I waited for two months to write this review as now I can give a complete account of my experience. I had laser cataract surgery on my right eye done on July 26th 2021 and the left eye on August 2nd 2021. I chose the panoptic lens for both eyes. Soon after surgery my vision was clear and sharp and I could see clearly without glasses both for far and near vision. At first, it was hard working for one week with one eye with 20/20 vision and the other eye still blurred and I used to have headaches relieved by Tylenol. Then I had the second surgery, and subsequently both eyes had 20/20 vision. I had halos and starbursts when I saw lights and I also had a crescent shaped peripheral shadow on the lateral side of both eyes. This was not a surprise as Dr. Devgan prepared me for this, he said it might take 3-6 months for my eyes to adjust and they might go away or my brain will have the capacity to ignore them. I am surprised and happy that my eyes have adjusted and I don’t see the halos that often and now they are insignificant. My vision is perfect now, night vision and driving is good, except that I cannot read in dim light and need a brighter light to read menus in a dark restaurant and that I can live with. The entire experience beginning with the office visits, surgery and post op visit was wonderful. Dr. Devgan treated me like family, and that was special. I recommend Dr. Devgan very highly. I contacted him originally because I was unhappy with my interactions with two other cataract surgeons with whom I had met. I learned from them that I am an outlier: I have long eyes, which should have made me shortsighted, but my corneas are so flat that I was in fact farsighted. This is an unusual combination. These surgeons told me frankly that they could not make any predictions about how my vision would turn out after surgery, which made me uneasy. As it turns out, Dr. Devgan has done a great deal of research on lens choice, including for eyes of unusual geometry such as mine. The results after surgery are just what I hoped for: I have perfect distance vision and first-rate visual acuity. Not many surgeons could have achieved this happy result, I believe. I was particularly pleased with Dr. Devgan's responses to my questions about choice of lenses. I have a fair grasp of geometric optics, which I studied in my training as an engineer, and I wanted to make an informed choice based on an understanding of the optics involved. Dr. Devgan provided me the detailed information I needed, just as I hoped. Over and above Dr. Devgan's facility with surgery and his outstanding ability in choosing lenses, I was pleased that he and his staff made the entire process as easy and comfortable as it could be. For example, his office provided a bottle of the medicated eye drops I needed after surgery, rather than simply giving me a prescription, saving me a trip to the pharmacy. I thought this was a nice touch. Finally, I should comment on the surgery center and surgery itself. After my recovery, the center called to ask what they could have done to make my experience easier and more pleasant. I responded that I could not think of anything, because I sincerely could not. There is a reason that Dr. Devgan has earned such high approval from his patients--he has earned it. If you choose Dr. Devgan for cataract surgery, you will be pleased with your choice.

I chose Dr Uday Devgan to perform my eye cataract surgery because of my husband’s wonderful experience with Dr Devgan four years ago. Since my hubby had used the prescription drug Flomax, we were advised by our local ophthalmologist that Flomax could cause eye complications for my hubby when having cataract surgery. So, our ophthalmologist had referred hubby to Dr Devgan because he had expertise with that situation. Dr Devgan’s surgery on both of my hubby’s eyes was very successful and without any complications. Now four years later when I was diagnosed with cataracts in both of my eyes, I too chose Dr Devgan even though I would need to travel 25 miles (50 miles round trip) farther to see Dr Devgan than if I were to see a local eye surgeon closer to my home in Santa Clarita, California. It's been 4 months since my cataract surgery with Dr. Devgan. I wanted to wait a while to be able to give a full perspective on my experience before writing this review. To begin, Dr. Devgan is at the absolute top of his field. He is an incredibly busy man, but will take the time to discuss your needs and provide thoughtful answers to your questions. His office staff was a little weak on communication, at least with me, and failed to provide the pre-appointment reading material. His office is equipped with the absolute state-of-the-art equipment for precise measurement of the eye parameters needed to provide the optimum replacement lenses. In my case, I had astigmatism in both eyes as well as rather serious impairment from cataracts. I was surprised to learn that the surgery center simply stocks lenses with every astigmatism prescription, so there's no wait to obtain customized lenses. I chose the Vivity lenses because I work with a computer a lot ant wanted to have clear enough vision to work without glasses. The result is that indeed, I can read my computer screen and more generally, normal size text, without classes, and there are no halos or other weird optical effects. Overall it has been a good experience, but now with the experience of hindsight, I think I would have preferred the simple single-focus interocular lenses. Why? I was accustomed to wearing glasses anyway, and after the surgery I got a new prescription for progressive lens glasses. Quite a mild prescription, that improves my vision at all distances compared to unaided vision, so it's easier to read. At the same time, my distance vision could have been more clear with the "standard" lens. I am interested in astronomy and feel like that interest would be better served with the standard lenses, and I could just wear glasses (as I do anyway) for reading and working at my computer. That's not to say I'm dissatisfied with the results though: I would say my vision is perfectly adequate, and as-advertised. Overall I am thrilled with the results. The very first thing I noticed after the surgery was how much richer and more saturated were the colors of everytthing around me. That's a joy that has continued every day since. I was also amazed how clear the vision from my right eye was, since it had always been the weaker eye (due to higher astigmatism). For reasons unknown, the left eye is not as clear, and also varies, sometimes being quite clear and other times blurry. Another effect, unanticipated, is how my vastly improved vision affected my overall mood, addressing a sort of depression I didn't fully realize I had. I actually felt a couple of inches taller too. In summary, I think Dr. Devgan is the best surgeon you could have, and whichever option you choose, your only regret will be not having the surgery sooner.

My vision was altered surgically by an eye surgeon who misdiagnosed my eye problem and proceeded to surgically implanted the WRONG INTRAOCULAR LENS. Not only was the wrong lens implanted but also the wrong power of the lens that my eye needed. After this initial surgery to remove my cataract, my vision became worse. He is world renowned. His skills are beyond compare. His patient education is the best. He knew what to do, and he fixed my problem. I was devastated and traumatized by my first cataract surgery. My subsequent two surgeries with Dr. Devgan were like a miracle to me. I would never go to any other doctor for cataract removal. HE IS THE BEST. His office and surgery center are state of the art. Beyond compare. I had no pain and no visual problems after he corrected what had been done wrongly. Only trust yourself and your family and friends to Dr. Devgan. HE IS THE BEST.

It’s taken me almost 5 months to write this review following my left eye surgery with Dr Devgan. The reason is that I wanted to be 100% convinced that I was completely satisfied and that my eye was functioning correctly with enough time to heal. I am a 30 year old who was very long-sighted in both eyes and was informed that laser surgery would not be the best option for me. I decided to go with intraocular lens surgery. I am a very special case for reviewing Dr Devgan and that’s because I’ve had the rare opportunity to experience 2 completely different eye surgeons. I can compare the work of 2 surgeons who take the top positions on Yelp. So if you’re picking between Dr Paul C Lee (CCRS) and Dr Devgan I suggest to go for Dr Devgan and DO NOT hesitate. He may be more expensive but he is the best and here’s why I believe that to be the truth.. I had my first eye surgery in 2018 with Dr Paul C Lee (CCRS). I wanted to do one eye at a time to make sure I was happy with the process of healing. The experience with this surgery left me pretty terrified to commit to doing surgery on my left eye later down the line. The cost for this surgery with Dr Lee was $4.5k. During the surgery with Dr Lee there was no anesthetist. I didn’t realize that an anesthetist would be so important to feeling calm and at ease - something that Dr Devgan factors into his surgery (read further on for why this is important). The day of the surgery Dr Lee and his assistants forgot to offer me any Valium until the very last moment when I had to ask for it myself having waited hours for my time to be operated on. During this time I had to drop different eye drops in my eye and sign some papers. Then I was led into a room that had a chair and a light above it but the Valium hadn’t even kicked in yet. I found the procedure to be excruciatingly uncomfortable and I whimpered throughout the 20-25min operation. I clenched my whole body with anxiety. I wouldn’t feel any pain thanks to the drops but I was completely terrified being fully awake and aware. Since then that eye has the ability to see, however, the eye is slightly overcorrected and I’m also left with a large floater which is VERY annoying and hasn't disappeared 2 years later. I am told there’s nothing much they can do about the floater and that these things can occur. It’s quite annoying and the floater moves around the eye like a large dirty / greasy patch in my eye whenever I look in different directions. The urge to get my left eye done increased but after being dissatisfied by my experience with Dr Lee I sought the advice of my eye doctor who suggested I meet DR DEVGAN 'the best eye surgeon in the world' according to my eye doctor. Dr Devgan charged $400 (approx) for a consultation, this seemed like a lot of money but I had done my research and he seemed VERY VERY qualified to work on my eye. I met with him and brought along my records from Dr Lee’s surgery. I was thrilled that Dr Devgan was confident that he could do a much better job and I was comforted by him telling me that I had found the right place. Thank god! I felt like I was in the right hands finally. I booked my operation for the next week and was given eye drops to take leading up to that day. I was so excited! On the day of the surgery with Dr Devgan and I was seen almost straight away when I entered the building. There was a lovely team working with Dr Devgan who made me feel so relaxed and happy! The anesthetist used Twilight anesthesia on me so I was SUPER SUPER calm and relaxed the whole way through. It was bliss!!! I couldn’t believe how quick the surgery took. It felt like less than 8mins and the recovery only took like a day!! I was even more happy when I met Dr Devgan the next day. He got much closer to hitting the right mark in getting my prescription almost on point. I can see very well and I'm so grateful that I found this guy! Don’t save money when your eyes are involved. You will get the quality of service with Dr Dvegan

Eye surgery is an extremely delicate procedure and you want it done right the first time. I was very fortunate to be referred to Dr Devgan by my optometrist. With dozens of qualified ophthalmologists in LA the decision who to go with is a tough choice. Most of them probably have the latest eye measuring machines and the latest optics. But Dr Devgan is the difference. He takes the time to explain everything fully so you know what to expect. He wants you to feel completely comfortable with your decision. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Devgan. This is a guy that other doctors go to when they need their eyes taken care of! He treats his patients with the utmost respect, brings a calmness to what can be a scary situation and has the best bedside manner of any doctor I have ever met. I had previous cataract surgery from another doctor that resulted in a common condition called a PCO or "secondary cataract." I was very nervous about it and my doctor did not make me feel very comfortable about it. I am so happy with my decision to have Dr. Devgan operate to remove my cataracts. I am a Kaiser member so Dr. Devgan was outside my insurance but I was very unhappy with the outcome when a Kaiser surgeon operated on my right eye. The surgeon "didn't believe" in toric lenses, despite my astigmatism. As a result, although in a certain sense I could see, after the operation my right eye never saw clearly, even with reading glasses. I was afraid that for the rest of my life I would have unclear vision, and although I could cope (which is what I assume most people do in that situation) I would never be comfortable that I could see. After being dissatisfied with the result of my right eye surgery, I went to a second surgeon at Kaiser for my left eye, who was going to insert a toric lens. However, I decided against going ahead with him partially because he told me what a great job the prior surgeon had done and partially because he advised me of reasons why my vision would be not be perfect after the operation. However, another (retired) surgeon at Kaiser referred me to Dr. Devgan. I didn't know what to think because Dr. Devgan never made any excuses as to why the outcome would not be good, but at the same time he was honest in telling me that with surgery in general there are no absolute guarantees. As a layperson, I had to give much thought to which surgeon I would select. Ultimately, after a detailed thought process (including details I am not including for purposes of this review), I decided on Dr. Devgan, and it was an excellent decision. Believe it or not I had 20-15 vision in my left eye on the day following the surgery. It really seems too good to be true but that's my personal experience. And, I found out in the process of figuring out the problems with my right eye, that my eyes are too large or deep for conventional measurement of the replacement lenses, so selection of the replacement lens has to be somewhat estimated. However, Dr. Devgan did not bring this up or use it as an excuse and the results are excellent despite this unusual variable in my eye surgery.

I highly recommend Dr. Uday Devgan! I flew in from Ohio to have Dr. Uday Devgan perform my cataract surgery. Because I was born with unusually small eyes and legally blind, my cataract surgery would be a more difficult procedure, with greater risk of complications. Despite this, I had a great outcome with my cataract surgery with no complications. With the lens implant, I can now see without glasses or contacts, which is like a miracle to me! I’m really lucky to have met Dr. Devgan and his team. Six months ago I had a retinal detachment in my left eye, and l’ve got a successful vitrectomy surgery in my country (Chile). However a strong cataract arose after the surgery leaving me almost without vision. My other eye, the right one, is amblyopic since I was a child so the vision is pretty bad. Essentially perfect — my experience with Dr. Devgan. Diagnosed with vision-dimming cataracts elsewhere, I went to him. He confirmed the diagnosis, previewed the surgery, explained lens choices and results expected. Days later he operated on one eye, and a week later the second. Total time at the surgery center each time was about two hours, and the care was great, especially the nursing, anesthesia, and Dr. Devgan's pre-op briefing. First, the summary: Dr. Devgan is terrific and I would absolutely select him again as my cataract surgeon. I am a Medicare-age academic who has always had poor eyesight. Over the past few years, it got significantly worse. I was apprehensive about any kind of ocular surgery but found that if I wanted to continue working and driving, cataract surgery was Step 1. After this decision, I learned there are many kinds of intraocular lenses and thus many choices. Adding to the complication, new lenses are being developed and I had no way of comparing one to the other. Dr. Devgan was highly recommended by an East Coast cataract specialist who is related to a friend of mine. I arranged an initial meeting and was completely convinced. If you need cataract surgery, I can’t imagine a better experience. His staff are terrific. He has all the diagnostic technology in his office, so you don’t have to make multiple trips to different locations to get the required information. Moreover, I had learned enough by then to know that he and his staff really understand this procedure—all the options as well as what is possible and what is not. After the first visit, Dr. Devgan was always available to answer questions. I had lots of them and as I learned more about cataracts and intraocular lenses I had more. When I sent him emails he always responded within a day and usually within a few hours. By the time of the two surgeries, I felt completely comfortable with my decisions. Both eyes have healed well. On a scale of 1 to 10, it is a definite 10 for Dr. Uday Devgan. It all started on the dreaded day when I failed my DMV vision test. Later, a visit to a local ophthalmologist checked and confirmed that I had cataracts in both eyes. What a sinking feeling, that I not only had cataracts but dense brunescent cataracts. I realized I could no longer hold on to my birth given original lenses and I did not want to go blind eventually, if they were left untreated. Having heard from friends how well and easy cataracts surgeries are, I went with a local doctor to remove the cataract in my left eye. What a big mistake! I was in pain. My operated left eye was red and my vision blurry for many weeks. Months have passed and I still have lingering ache in my left eye and other issues. I asked myself and my husband, "Now what? I have got one more eye to go. I cannot let the mediocre doctor operate on my right eye." I need to find the best doctor. I decided to research further. I Googled and found Dr. Uday Devgan. I read about him and his written articles on Dense Brunescent cataracts. Additionally, I found his videos on YouTube and his interviews online. I knew I had to meet Dr. Devgan and let him fix my right eye. I called to make appointment and his receptionist was polite and friendly. Appointment day arrived and we walked into his office. Front desk staff greeted us warmly. His office is immaculately clean and they take your temperature and make you wash your hands immediately, due to Covid19. After a technician checked my eyes with a room full of instruments that were out of Star Trek, we met Dr. Devgan. He was professional and friendly. He showed me images of my eyes and explained about my remaining dense cataract and how he would remove it with his specially designed instruments. He also helped me pick the right corrective lens. His knowledge, expertise and vast experience gave me comfort and confidence. On June 15, my scheduled surgery went extremely well. The surgical center was very clean. The attending anesthesiologist and nurse were very warm and friendly. Of course the talented, good-humored surgeon, Dr. Devgan was right there, by my side, telling me jokes to ease my mind. The operation on my right eye went by like a breeze. There was no pain, swelling or inflammation in my eye. Immediately, after a few hours I could see clearly, beautiful, vivid colors that I have missed and forgotten. The next day, a follow-up visit with Dr. Devgan confirmed I have crystal clear vision of 20/20. Hooray! My right eye vision is really wonderful. The bad thing is, I can see every wrinkle and flaws on my face now (probably need a different kind of dr. now, haha). I have been bragging to friends and family about Dr. Devgan. The very efficient examination by Dr. Devgan and his staff supported my optometrist’s recommendation. With some trepidation, I went ahead to have refractive lenses placed in my eyes to correct my vision while eliminating the cataracts. The results have been astounding, and it just brings tears to my eyes to be able to see so well without the glasses that I have worn almost throughout my entire life. Once I was ready, I was invited into the OR suite. Dr. Devgan has a very unique setup in his OR suite that allows the surgical bed to pivot between the lasers, allowing for a seamless transition for the patient between the laser for the flap creation and the laser for the ablation. As far as I know, his is the only practice to employ such a method and it is genius!!! After experiencing it myself I am convinced that this should be a standard setup at all LASIK offices. Dr. Devgan and his staff made me feel at ease throughout the procedure, which was over almost before it had begun! For me it felt like it only lasted 2 minutes from the moment I lay down on the bed to the moment I stood back up. There was no pain. After coming home and taking a nap, my vision was great! I walked to the grocery store that night and marveled at my new visual acuity. I kept waiting to feel dryness or pain, but only every experienced a mild foreign body sensation that disappeared after 24 hrs. At my follow up appointment the next day I was able to easily read the 20/15 line and even some of the 20/10 line. I felt like I had eagle eyes! Dr. Devgan nailed our target exactly because my new prescription was measured to be plano (0.00 both eyes). Goodbye contacts and glasses! I have been enjoying my stunning vision ever since. My previous Opthalmologist had told me I had "Narrow Angle Glaucoma" caused by the shape of my eyeball changing with my far-sightedness, and exacerbated by the thickening of my natural lenses with cataracts. It could constrict the flow of fluid inside the eye, leading to pressure build-up in the eye resulting in nerve damage. He recommended performing a cataract surgery that replaces the thickened natural lens with a much thinner plastic lens. I was given a couple of pages of options in multi-focus lenses and could choose to use the femto second laser for accurate cutting of the eyeball, all with very high prices. like $3200 per eye for lenses and $1700.00 per eye for the laser. I felt I needed some guidance. I went online I started looking for the best eye surgeons, and found Dr. Devgan had hundreds of great reviews online. Later my wife and I went to visit some close friends The topic of the eye surgery came up and my friend said he had had cataract surgery a couple of years earlier and really liked his surgeon and the whole staff in the office. The surgeon's name? Dr. Devgan. I went in for the second opinion appointment and was really pleased with the friendliness of the whole staff of the office, which is mentioned in most of the reviews online, and which is indicative of an efficient and happy environment. I had barely completed my paperwork before I was photographed and measured by a technician using six or eight machines and kindly explained what each measurement was for. I Met with Dr. Devgan in his office. He also is very open and friendly and full of positive energy. In our conversation, he asked me what I wanted as the outcome of the surgery. I said I wanted the clearest, sharpest vision possible and hoped to have at least some flexibility of focus. He then told me that there is a certain amount of refraction in all the current multifocal lenses that can cause halos around lights and issues with driving at night, a problem that another friend of mine has. In the end, I went with his suggestion of single focus lenses for clear distance vision and use of reading glasses for close up focus. That is what I had done at 42 when my close focus vision failed. At age 60 even street signs were out of focus and I wore glasses or contacts full time. I feel comfortable that Dr. Devgan helped me find the best solution for my eyes. For my first surgery. I went into the surgery Center in the morning, then was taken into the prep area. All of the nurses introduced themselves and explained everything they were doing, the IV, the oxygen sensor, etc. Dr. Devgan came in and said hello and explained all the elements of the surgery and that I might see some bright flashes, but that I wouldn't feel anything. Everyone asked me which eye was being operated on (the right) and they marked an X above my right eyebrow so there could be no mistake. When I came out of surgery, Dr. Devgan said everything had gone quite well and that the next day I would be able to drive myself to my post-op appointment, The next day the vision in my right eye was as if looking through layers of fine gauze and the contrast turned low. I put a contact lens in my left eye and I had no problem seeing. I was given clear, large print instructions for the three different eye drops including when and how to administer them. The second eye surgery was completed a week later, no pain, no real discomfort, the vision was a bit slower clearing up, but it is totally satisfactory now Dr. Devgan told me the new lenses are in place but that the muscle tissue has to shrink around them for some months before some minor visual "flashes" will go away. after a few days I already had very clear distance vision in both eyes. I feel that Dr. Uday Devgan is a truly great eye surgeon who loves his work and is supported by an excellent staff.

I can't say enough great things about Dr. Devgan! He removed cataracts from both eyes (2 weeks apart). I now have 20/20 sight in both eyes without glasses for the first time since I was 13, 60 years ago! Not only is he a great eye surgeon, he is a caring and compassionate individual. With that out of the way, here’s why: When I needed cataract surgery on both of my eyes, my new ophthalmologist recommended a surgeon I soon found had... committed assault on one of his own employees! Yikes. Naturally, I looked for another surgeon, preferably within my Blue Shield network. Luckily, Blue Shield users had rated Dr. Devgan highly so I went to him. And I’m glad I did. From start to finish, Devgan and his staff were friendly and professional. Dr. Devgan removed my cataract and replaced it with a man-made toric lens that compensated for the astigmatism in my cornea. I had the surgery the day before yesterday and my vision is shockingly good. I had very high expectations and the results far exceed my expectations. At my first visit, Dr. Devgan spent a lot of time explaining exactly what was going to happen and how the astigmatism was in my biological lens and in my cornea. I asked a lot of questions (I'm an engineer) and he cheerfully answered all of them. He spent plenty of time with me and I never felt rushed at all. He also gave me guidance on what focal length to choose for my new lens. I was able to get an appointment for the surgery very quickly (about 2 weeks after my consultation). He greeted me before the surgery and talked to me afterward to explain how well it went. Dr. Devgan truly enjoys his work, enjoys people, loves giving them the gift of instantly improved vision. My eyes are considered very high risk for cataracts surgery due to my extreme near-sightedness (-18 on both eyes). My niece, in Palo Alto, California, is an ophthalmologist who specializes in cataract & cornea surgeries, recommended Dr. Devgan to me and said he is one of the very best in Los Angeles. I visited Dr. Devgan and he put me at ease right a way. He clearly and calmly explained the complicated conditions of my eyes, and the limited options available to me. Then he suggested the most suitable solution for me. He referred me to see a retina specialist to get my retinas ready for his surgery. The retina specialist confirmed the readiness of my retina for surgery; then he told me that Dr. Devgan the best, he also entrusted his own mother’s cataract surgery to Dr. Devgan. As soon as Dr. Devgan received the retina clearance report, he scheduled the surgery on my right eye within a week. In the Surgical Center, the attending nurse also told me that I don’t have to worry about anything because Dr. Devgan is the best of over 50 surgeons in the entire center. My procedure was video taped and during my post-op visit the next day, Dr. Devgan sent the video file to my niece after their telephone conference about my surgery. Dr. Devgan performed a cataract IOL replacement surgery on my right eye 2 years ago, and he had my highest praise on his surgical skills and professionalism. My right eye still sees as clearly as it did two years ago with absolutely no issue at all. When my left eye is up I will definitely go back to Dr. Devgan for surgery. But this review is about something else. In the last two years, there were two occasions that I have concerns about my eye sight ( nothing related to the cataract procedure) and I emailed Dr. Devgan for advice. In both times Dr. Devgan answered my email personally within half an hour and provided referral to a retina specialist, who also contacted me personally the same day and have his secretary made an appointment with me the following day for check ups. At the last visit the retina specialist find two small holes in my retina and immediately repair it before any damage can occur. I am extremely pleased with Dr. Devgan's referral and couldn't imagine what will happen if I have to make an appointment myself and have to wait months to be seen. My advice is don't fool around when it comes to your eye sight and get a consultation with Dr. Devgan.

I first consulted with Dr. Devgan in 2010 when he carried out cataract surgery on both eyes (separately) with premium multi-focus lens implants into each eye. Dr. Devgan is very caring and quite charming, he really made me feel at ease and confident for the surgery and from my perspective (as the patient) the procedure was amazingly simple, very quick and pain free. The result has been wonderful and as Dr. Devgan promised, I have been able to see everything clearly ! To this day (October 2018) I haven’t experienced any problems with my eyesight and I have never had to wear eye-glasses. I whole heartedly recommend Dr. Devgan to anyone needing cataract surgery, I absolutely trust Dr. Devgan. Recently, I needed to see a specialist for a blocked tear duct that has been the cause of chronic infection on and off for three years. Dr. Devgan is an exceptional cataract physician, truly an artist at his trade, a unique individual who takes pride in all things that he does related to cataracts. I had cataracts for a number of years and knew at some point that I would need surgery. When the time came to have cataract surgery, I went to Dr. Devgan. At the office exam, there were comprehensive eye evaluation tests. All I had to do was sit in front of various machines to get the results. Thereafter, Dr. Devgan checked my eyes and took pictures of my cataracts which was fascinating to see, reviewed the results, explained the issues and answered all my questions. I lost my right eye in a skiing accident in 1964. I am a pilot and I am very protective of my one eye. I started having difficulty with night driving and I was having problems reading signs at normal distances. Really impressed by the work and the process. I had a racket ball in my right eye 30 years ago and then a very nasty cataract had develop since. I was always afraid to go to surgery, specialy because I'm a professional photographer. To a point on recommandation from doctors I met MD Uday Devgan. Dr. Devgan changed my life! At 45 years of age, night driving became very difficult for me, I assumed I needed a new prescription for my glasses. To my dismay it was cataracts. The thought of having cataract surgery at my age was scary. After consulting with Dr. Devgan he assured me that while slightly uncommon for a person of my age, this surgery was not rare and on top of removing the cataracts, he would correct my severe nearsightedness as well as my astigmatism. A long but important review. PLEASE READ: Words cannot begin to express our gratitude for Dr. Devgan's kindness and skills. My husband has been through a horrendous 5 months having an infection of the inner lining of his heart. It came on very suddenly and we were told he could die. Fortunately, he didn't! But after a month in ICU (followed by a total of another two months in ICU and post critical care) he had complication after complication. With his heart infection he also ended up with terrible vision issues-everything was horribly blurry. A visit to a retina specialist said that for some reason my husband developed terrible cataracts in both eyes. One eye was 20/400 (pretty much blind). Needing a cataract surgeon, Dr. Devgan came highly recommended by two very trusted sources (an optometrist and a retina specialist). A couple of surgeons were recommended by our optometrist who knows my husband very well after 25 years of care, said he thought that my husband would most appreciate Dr. Devgan's bedside manner. And was he right! Dr. Devgan is not just a cataract surgeon. He is a kind, caring, compassionate and brilliant man. Very special. Most doctors these days seem in a hurry. Not Dr. Devgan. He's calm, takes his time to explain exactly what is going on and what to expect from the surgery. At the surgery center Dr. Devgan came over and spent an extraordinary amount of time comforting us. He's just such a warn, authentic person. We went to the 2nd follow up appointment yesterday and Dr. Devgan was genuinely excited with the my husband's improvement. I have been aware from some time that I should have cataract surgery in both eyes, but continued to put it off for quite some time – it is a daunting decision to let someone operate on your eyes, and the market is flooded by medical professionals touting their expertise, affordability, speed of procedure, and patient satisfaction. So much to wade through, but I realized my cataracts were starting to impact my quality of life – primarily not being able to drive at night, or identify details of objects on the other side of the room. Accordingly, I started my research. Because of high ratings almost everywhere, Dr. Uday Devgan’s practice was one of the first I called. Although I investigated 4-5 other practices as options, my first strong impression of Dr. Devgan was one of a high level of professional competency (one that was born out through the entire process) and this led me to a quick decision to have him perform these two procedures. This is turning out to be one of the best medical decisions I have made. As of this writing, I have had the right eye done and am having the left eye done in a few days. Beyond the amazing success of the procedure – within 24 hours the vision of my right eye had exceeded my expectations and continues to improve – the overall experience deserves a very, very high rating and recommendation. And, it was all made so very easy – very light sedation, zero pain (not even any discomfort), done in a professional, efficient, modern outpatient facility (also owned by Dr. Devgan and his partners). Half-hour of talking to the nurses and getting ready (with the procedure done in my own cloths), into the operating room, 10 minutes of prep and discussion with Dr. Devgan and the anesthesiologist, 5 minutes of procedure – all done. I went to see Dr. Devgan for cataract surgery at about the same time my best friend was consulting another well known eye doctor for the same surgery. From my first consultation with Dr. Devgan and my subsequent surgeries on both eyes (I did my right eye first followed by my left a few months later), I can safely say that he is the best in the business, and I am extremely happy that I made the decision to go with him. Decades ago I had RK done on one eye. The other eye had both RK and Lasik. I live in the Phoenix area and my cataracts had gotten progressively bad to the point where I could no longer drive at night. I saw a well known eye center in Phoenix and was told that they could operate but could not use a lens that would improve my eyesight and eliminate my need for glasses. I researched on the web thinking that there had to be someone addressing the need for cataract surgery on RK and Lasik patients. I found Dr. Devgan via The Cataract Coach website. I decided to go ahead and travel to Beverly Hills and at least get a consult. The office has state of the art equipment and they took all sorts of measurements which Dr. Devgan used in his evaluation of my case. He assured me that he could improve my left eye significantly and improve my right eye but not as much as the left eye. He showed me why on some of the images of my right eye. Apparently the RK incisions had not been done as cleanly as the ones on my left eye. I decided to go ahead with the surgery thinking that any improvement was worth the travel and the cost of the toric lenses. My left eye was improved enough that it compensated for the weaker right eye. I had the left eye done on 1/4 and the right eye a week later on 1/11. I am typing this and can also read my phone without glasses. Dr. Devgan said my eyesight will settle down within a few weeks. I actually don't think I'll need glasses as I can see pretty well already. Dr. Devgan and all the people at LA Sight were very helpful and very professional. I would recommend getting cataract surgery with Dr. Devgan, you will not be sorry. You'll be in good hands!

Thanks to Doctor Devgan; I have excellent vision after cataract surgery. I now have 20/20 vision, especially since I started out with such bad vision. He was able to do everything in one easy surgery (ICL removal, cataract removal, new lens, fix myopia, and address astigmatism). Based on my personal experience he is the best in his profession. Previously, I had the same surgery done by Doctor Paul Lee at CCRS on my left eye and it turned out horrible. Be sure you do your research before selecting any doctor. I've never written a review for anything before but I really wanted to give a shout out to Dr. Devgan here. All the reviews you're reading here are spot on. I'd say if you're even thinking about Lasik surgery, go in for a consultation. I'm certain you will have the same wonderful experience that I have had. More specifically, I've worn glasses as long as I can remember. Having two very different eyes with severe (off the charts) astigmatism in my right eye, I've always been told that I wasn't even a good candidate for contact lenses, at best a hard contact lens. More recently with the option to try a soft contact lens, I tried contacts for the first time and was disappointed at how cumbersome they were. It just made me want to go back to glasses; and I did. After an enthusiastic referral from someone who had the same surgery from Dr. Devgan, I went in for a consultation. The entire process was clearly explained and in a manner that makes you feel so comfortable as a patient. As other reviewers have pointed out, you can tell Dr. Devgan absolutely loves his job; his enthusiasm is palpable and infectious. Most importantly, he has the world class skill and experience to back it up. The facility is top notch and the staff professional and efficient. The surgery was very fast (maybe 7 minutes tops?), completely painless and with not much to worry about. In fact, I was right back to work the next morning! Amazing. If you thought you'd have to be an eyeglass lifer like me, do yourself a favor and go get a consultation. My only regret is that I didn't look into it sooner.

No one is more patient, knowledgeable and understanding than Dr. Devgan. He did my cataract surgery recently and I must admit that beforehand, I required a lot of handholding because I had had a couple of bad experiences with another doctor. I was able to communicate my concerns and fears and receive immediate responses to every one of them. He was always calm, reassuring, and positive, with a great sense of humor to boot! I told him what I expected from the surgery and he gave me exactly what I wanted. I can still read without glasses and see far distances too, so I am very happy with the results. August 3, 2018 I had the distinct privilege and great fortune of having my left eye’s cataract operated by Dr. Devgan in July 2018. But before choosing him as my eye surgeon , I did an extensive research ( to be exact, of 5 years duration ) with the goal of finding the best possible expert, for the surgery on my very complex eye problem. Finally, I came to the conclusion that Dr. Devgan would be the “BEST CATARACT SURGEON” to perform this difficult operation on my left eye ( because of some other associated problems in my particular situation; which made it a very challenging case as whole.) By the way, where I live in the U.S., is almost thousand miles from the city of Los Angeles, but I was ready and determined to have the operation done anywhere in the United States or at any other place in the world for that matter, if I had to, as long as it was going to be done by the most outstanding expert in this field. I was referred to Dr. Devgan for lasik evaluation and surgery. I had been suffering with my contact lenses. The contacts would not stay in my eyes for the love of god so i had to keep changing them couple times a day. One day while driving on the freeway, my left contact fell out & I had to drive home with one eye open & one eye closed! My eyes were dry & I hated wearing eye glasses. The glasses would give me the worse tension headache & overall i was just not a happy camper. I started looking into my options. Went to a few ophthalmologist. Even went to UCLA & had to wait a few hours just to be seen for an evaluation. Then it took them over a week to call me & give me fees & go over possible surgery schedules!!! I was so shocked by their treatment. When i went to Dr. Devgan’s office i was pleasantly surprised by the VIP treatment his whole staff & himself gave me. He immediately put me as ease. He is so caring & companionate and has a great sense of humor.I immediately connected with him. His staff took some measurements of my cornea, then he did a exam. He explained to me how the procedure works, what to expect & all the pros & cons. He has the lasik machine in his office so that makes it so convenient. I did the pre-opt & the surgery just one week after. Right before the procedure, they took the measurements again. Gave me Valium & I was in heaven. Throughout the procedure, i was so relaxed & happy. That day when i went home, i rested, didn’t look at any monitors, didn’t text & didn’t watch TV. The very next day i woke up & i could see!!!! My dream had come true, to wake up & to be able to see was a priceless gift. I was so happy, i even drove myself to his office for my day-1 Post op & it was perfectly fine. My vision, the very next day was 20/15 which is better than 20/20! I couldn’t thank him enough. I went to see him again yesterday for my 1 month Post op check. And everything is perfect. He insisted to see me himself & took some measurements & looked at my eyes with his light & lenses. He is so amazing. Truly how a physician should be. His staff are always very polite, professional & friendly. Prices are very reasonable too. $3000/eye for the Lasik surgery. I love going to his office & i highly recommend this doctor to everyone. He also does cataract surgery too. In fact he did cataract surgery on my father in law which by the way was very complicated due to the anatomy of his eye. The results were pristine. Having gone through a horrible experience with cataract removal on my right eye, I waited until it seemed I was staring through a mattress before even considering cataract surgery on my left eye. Although a trusted retinal specialist re: my right eye, referred me to Dr. Devgan I still made my first appointment with with great trepidation. However, meeting Dr Devgan, I encountered a warm, confident and friendly person who surprised me when he understood my question regarding the focal length of lenses used for cataract replacement. WOW what a sense of relief, an ophthalmologist who knows lenses and understands focal distance, as a filmmaker does. I'm a filmmaker, and his shared knowledge enabled me to make a collaborative, informed decision. Which resulted in using the left eye for close up reading, computer etc. work, and keeping the right eye for distance vision. Just prior to surgery I was extremely nervous and Dr Devgan was patient and comforting, I could hear his voice as I drifted off into the netherworld. After surgery, again Wow, I could see clearly my brain switching quite naturally right for close up, left for distance. After being diagnosed with rare type of "posterior polar congenital cataracts" by a local ophthalmologist in 2014 and told I would be "high risk" for surgery, I started researching everything I could find on this type of cataract. I found a lot of information and everything I read said there was a high risk with this type of surgery, but when I found the articles written by Dr. Uday Devgan and Clinical Professor at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at the UCLA School of Medicine, I knew he would be the doctor that I would trust to perform my surgery. Dr. Devgan confirmed that I had the rare "posterior polar congenital cataracts" in both eyes as well as cataracts in front of the eyes. He let me know that the risk is close to one in three of having the capsular break and that usually ends up with very poor vision. Because I had read of his expertise in performing these types of surgeries, I trusted that he would be using the best technique and I would have the greatest results. I viewed a similar surgery video of this same type of cataract performed by Dr. Devgan prior to my surgery and later was provided a link to my own surgery video. Well, I did choose the GREATEST doctor. He performed removal of my cataracts and performed lens implant surgeries (one toric, one non-toric, diamond lens) a month apart and both surgeries were not only successful, at 70 years old, I NO LONGER NEED EYE GLASSES, with the exception of occasional need for +1.00 reading glasses. I made two trips from Indianapolis, Indiana to Beverly Hills, California and will always feel so lucky to find the greatest eye surgeon. It was obvious to me that he loves his work and people. Besides finding the greatest doctor, his staff is so nice and helpful. I saw Keith more than others and I think he is outstanding. Dr. Devgan, thank you for my awesome eyesight.

I went from wearing trifocals full time to 20/10 vision with no need to wear glasses...not for reading, computer, driving or watching tv. Thanks to Dr. Devgan who is not only at the top of his field but an incredibly warm, kind, lovely human being who will give you his email and cell phone number. And respond! What doctor does this? I had cataract surgery which was brief, painless and I was seeing well by the next day. I chose the pan optic lens which corrects near, mid and distance vision. The only trade off is some small halos around lights when driving at night but for me, a working writer who spends a massive amount of time reading and on the computer, the trade off was worth it. I’ve had friends go to Dr. Devgan who chose perfect distance vision in exchange for having to wear reading glasses. It’s up to you and Dr. Devgan will make sure it’s all explained to you and help you choose what’s right for you. For me, as I sit here typing this on my iPad, no glasses required, I couldn’t be happier. I wish every Dr. was like Dr. Devgan.

If there would have been a Galaxy, as benchmark, over the five stars I would have rated Doctor Devgan as such. I still could not believe the outcome of the operation. I am the one who had -15 for all almost all my life i.e. for 38 years. Though I got Lasik procedure done in India fifteen years ago still after few year my eyesight deteriorated back to -15 and to make it more worse 4 years ago I got cataract in both eyes. I was on the verge of losing my driving privileges and that is when I lost my all hopes that I ever be able to see the world like a normal human being. For my right eye, I opted to get operated at one of the renowned eye hospital in India but was not successful. With cataract and hope left to my one eye only I couldn’t take any chances. UNBELIEVABLE!!! Seriously, My vision was BAD. Cataracts in both eyes, astigmatism. Terrrible! A simple office visit for consultation, the staff is great, setting of an appointment a week later (you need three days of different eye drops) in at 7A out before 9A! The surgery itself is 10 minutes! Dr Devgan explains the whole process, he makes you feel so comfortable. My eyesight was somewhere about 20-200, now I’m seeing the world in HD! Well, this is one of those experiences that I will never forget. Dr. Devgan and his staff are the best I have ever experienced in the medical profession. Dr. Devgan is advanced so far beyond his competition that there is literally no reason to even start at any other medical facility for cataract surgery. As a former medical student of Dr. Uday Devgan at UCLA, I can say firsthand that he is THE BEST cataract eye surgeon, PERIOD. I went on to become an ophthalmologist, and I've had other ophthalmology friends that also say they would have Dr. Devgan operate on their family members without hesitation. So, when it came time for my favorite aunt to have her cataract surgery, I immediately referred her to Dr. Devgan. She had reached a point where she could no longer drive safely either day or night and could barely cook at home. She had waited so long for surgery because she had a "complicated eye" and was very anxious about having surgery. She was extremely nearsighted and had thin, retinas that would make her prone to developing retinal tears. Dr. Devgan was so warm and kind to her during their first preoperative meeting, explaining everything to her in a calm, clear manner. He also took the time to call and email me (and he is very busy!) immediately after her visit to fill me in on the exam findings and plan and reassure me that she would be well taken care of. Due to her retinal condition, he recommended a referral with a retina specialist close to her home as a precautionary measure prior to surgery. When she called, they told her there was no opening with the retina specialist for at least several weeks, and my aunt was very discouraged. But Dr. Devgan emailed the retina specialist and my aunt was able to see him that Saturday! He really goes above and beyond for his patients. The surgery itself was very successful, and as expected, my aunt was a challenging case due to her large eye and extreme myopia. The surgery itself took FIVE minutes, unbelievable! Dr. Devgan sent me the video so I could review it, and it was just perfection - he is a truly a master of his craft. My aunt was so pleased with the results, she booked her second eye a week later (also a success!). My aunt is lucky that she lives near Los Angeles, but I would recommend other family members fly into Los Angeles to have their cataract surgery with Dr. Devgan, he is the best!

I was referred to Dr. Devgan regarding a constantly sore eye caused by a cataract surgery that "went wrong". After listening carefully to me, both by phone (he called!) and in his clinic, his examination was then reassuringly thorough, and his explanation of what he saw was clear, as was his carefully weighed decision that further surgery would not be advisable at this time. The fact that he understood why the eye was hurting was information I had not clearly received before, and as everyone well knows, is always a great start in learning to live with such problems. In addition, he confirmed that the morning redness and inflammation, and perhaps some of the soreness, was doubtless a side-effect from the anti-glaucoma medication Latanoprost, which other opthamologists had suggested, but your confidence and clarity in this assessment, and the underlying chemical/biological reasoning, was more understandable and convincing (I'm a PhD Scientist). Importantly, he recommended that I try a very recently approved drop (Inveltys) and graciously provided a sample of emulsion drops to try to decrease the soreness and inflammation. The great news is that this treatment has worked very well! My eye does not hurt very much anymore and the inflammation/redness is much reduced. This problem has seriously and negatively affected the quality of my daily life, and I am extremely grateful to Dr. Devgan for his excellent and considered care and advice. Again, Dr. Devgan, I (and my wife Gail) thank you, and your excellent staff, so very much for your superb care and treatment. I am so very glad to have visited with you, and now know where to go in future if other difficult eye problems arise!

I was 37 years old and discovered that I had an early cataract. I was surprised and wanted to understand more about the issue. I visited several eye specialists/ophthalmologists in Vancouver, BC. I am Canadian and thus am eligible for free basic lens cataract surgeries. Well, you get what you pay for. Not one of the doctors in Vancouver took the time to explain the cataract, nor were they overly interested in dealing with it. I could barely see when driving and was a hazard on the road, yet the doctors were in no hurry to complete the procedure. Further the doctors in Vancouver were more impatient/annoyed as they didn’t feel it was necessary to answer any questions. I was referred to Dr. Devgan by a friend of mine who resides in Anaheim. I spoke to Dr. Devgan (I couldn’t believe you could speak to a doctor directly), then read several reviews. I decided to go with him and he went out of his way to meet me on a Sunday as he knew I was flying in from Canada. Uday went through the number of causes of cataract and explained how the corrective lenses work in a way that made sense. He repaired both eyes, and I am extremely happy. He was also the only doctor that noticed I was myopic and it was necessary I go to a retina specialist. Again, no Canadian eye doctor told me this, I would have had no idea. When I went to the retina specialist he already noticed thinning of my retina in different areas and was able to repair it. My parents got their eyes done in Vancouver, both had issues, with lenses being reversed, improper sight and had to go through surgery a few times. For me, I did not want to take a chance with my eyes. Thanks Dr. Devgan, I appreciate everything.

I found Dr. Devgan after weeks of deep research and learning everything I can regarding cataract, its types, procedures, lenses and everything else out there available on the internet. My case of posterior polar cataract is a fairly rear (few in a thousand) and there are very few professionals in the world who are experienced in treating this condition. See, many doctors would properly detect the case but if they operate - the industry statistics say you have more than 30% chance of serious complications. 1 out of 3. Not a great perspective... While learning about different methods of treatment, I kept coming across articles in scientific journals written by Dr. Devgan. I was impressed with the depth of his knowledge and easily recognizable signs of a true, trustworthy professional and enthusiast of his field. As he was remote for me selecting him was not an option. Or so I thought and called his office to ask for a reference to a specialist in NYC area. From the first moment of talking to his staff member it was clear to me that no matter what it takes I would be flying to LA. It would be my privilege to be treated by Dr. Devgan and to be one of his numerous patients among which are his own mom and dad. So I did, traveled there several times... and am very grateful I did. Honestly, I am not sure why Dr. Devgan needs reviews on the internet - perhaps just as a due to the modern way of doing research by amateurs. Every ophthalmologist knows him. Number of them choose him as a doctor for themselves. People fly to his office from all over the world. Being the Chief of Ophthalmology at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center he taught surgery to hundreds of residents for more than a decade and he unquestionably is the top professional in the field. He conducts trials for FDA and asked to test devices by major biotech companies, he invents tools himself and helps the industry pioneers to push new break-through technologies. The list goes on and on. One would never think this doctor is reachable for an ordinary patient at least not in the next 50 years. Yet everything you read about him is absolutely true. Very caring and attentive, would give you his personal email and phone and would answer your questions to the point of you running out of them. Readily going into the mathematical, mechanical and medical depth of any aspect of your interest. I was amazed by my experience with Dr. Devgan and his staff. Not only he gives you the opportunity to see the world again. He does it in the way when you wish you had more than two eyes. Extraordinary intelligent, deep thinker, enthusiastic, kind, approachable doctor with the capital letter D. As a preface, I am a fellow ophthalmologist (eye MD) in the Los Angeles area. I can confidently say that he has the best surgical hands in the business. There is no one I would trust more with my own eyes than Dr. Devgan. After finally getting some free time in my schedule, I recently had LASIK with Dr. Devgan. The experience was so smooth that it almost feels like a dream at this point. His office is streamlined, and they use the highest quality diagnostic machinery at the preoperative visit. This exam is very thorough. His superlative optometrist Dr. Tabanfar confirmed my refraction, and was very knowledgeable and professional. Dr. Devgan and I then had a good discussion about my vision correction options, and I was a great candidate for LASIK. Scheduling was simple, and I'm generally very impressed with the office. My LASIK experience was similarly excellent. I appreciate the measures they take to confirm every step of the process, and the care they take in maintaining an exact workflow. This is really important in LASIK, and Dr. Devgan leads the team to perfection. I was comfortable and relaxed the whole time. While it is common to have some vision fluctuation after LASIK, I personally have had extremely sharp vision since the first postoperative day. Dr. Devgan has a lot of five star reviews, but trust me when I say it means a lot to have another ophthalmologist come to you for surgery. He has done a lot of surgery for fellow ophthalmologists, and there's a reason. Dr. Devgan is the best!

LIFE CHANGING! ROCKSTAR OPTHAMOLOGIST AND SURGEON! I just had cataract surgery and vision correction by Dr Devgan and OMG! I haven’t seen like this since second grade! (And my vision was so bad!) I can’t believe it! And it was easy! Pain free! Unbelievable! My vision impacted every aspect of my life. And with all of the stories I heard from people, I thought I had to give up something when committing to this surgery, but I can see everything!!! The whole staff is amazing. Jodi was incredibly patient and supportive. The surgery center is amazing. First time I didn’t get sick from anesthesia as the anesthesiologist listened and adjusted her concoction! True confession - my friend and I not only checked out a ton of doctors but even paid for exams at many offices. Well no one compares. Dr Devgan is not only kind and personable, but he’s a genius and a perfectionist. He gets to know you and what would work best for you. He realized what my concerns were and what my lifestyle is and came up with a plan that has me WOWED! I honestly can’t imagine there’s anyone like him! This is a total game changer for me! Thank you Dr Devgan! You’ve changed my life!

What an incredible experience all the way around. I am so happy to be able to see without my stupid reading glasses anymore, and the whole process was made so easy and fun by Dr Devgan clean and pristine offices with nice staff and candy! I I had a friend who paid three times the amount and told me he wishes he went to Dr Devgan after talking to him post surgery because I got better results. Can’t say enough about this experience.
