After 10+ years of avoiding the eye doctor I finally scheduled an appointment to go get my eyes checked. From the initial phone call of setting the appointment to the moment I walked in the door the staff made to feel so comfortable. The practice is very professional, the office space is extremely clean and you can tell they use updated equipment to make sure you’re getting the best exam. Dr. Kora Smith is extremely knowledgeable and patient. She answered all of my questions, took the time to explain things I was unfamiliar with and made me laugh. The experience was a 10/10 and I have been telling all of my friends since to go check them out. Looking forward to my next visit!

At my most recent eye exam, it was decided that the time had come to have my cataracts removed & I was referred to Dr. Smith at the Emerson office. Y'all. My anxiety was through the roof. I mean, eyeball surgery sounds like a bad time. Dr. Smith and staff made sure that it was the opposite. Okay, well, it wasn't a good time. But it was a great experience. Thank you, Dr. Smith, Grace & Dr. Long and the rest. My quality of life has greatly improved.

I visited Cataract & Laser Institute in Indianapolis, In a few weeks ago and had the Best Experience Ever. Dr. Harris was the best. She explained everything in a manner that was easy to understand. Ms. Elynia followed up with a call as she promised. Ms. Alyassa was very thorough during my initial exam. These three ladies went above and beyond to ensure I understood my diagnosis and answered all my questions. I will continue to visit C&LI as long as these three ladies remain at this location. Thank you ladies for your sincere attention to my eye health needs.

I want to thank Dr. Kora Edwards Smith and the entire staff for the professional and caring treatment I have received. From the receptionist, technicians, to the insurance and billing, everyone is remarkably efficient, knowledgeable, and personable. I suffer from severe dry eyes, and Dr. Smith is giving me hope for the first time in several years. When I asked to try a newly approved nose spray for dry eye, she immediately ordered samples and eventually connected me with a pharmacy which sends me the medication for little to no charge, unlike if I used a regular pharmacy which charges hundreds of dollars for one bottle! There is little wait time, and you get the sense that customer service is truly a valued component of this office. I drive almost an hour and a half to get there, and it is well worth the extra miles. I cannot recommend them highly enough!

Grace did my eye exam. I have been with this practice for over 30 years, when Dr. A was over at St.Francis ...long ago... This is the most caring and compassionate exam I have ever had. Better 'hang on' to that your lady...she is an excellent people person.

Dr Edwards was fantastic I could not have been treated more professionally she was outgoing and was very through with explaining the procedure. My experience with the staff was great I was treated exceptional by everyone I came in contact with. Dr long done my surgery and was just as exceptional as the rest of the staff he was through and very pleasant to deal with. The hospital staff I dealt with made me very comfortable from beginning to end. For me this eye surgery is life changing, for the first time in over twenty tears I again have 20/20 vision and no longer need glasses. Thank you everyone!

I have just moved back to the Garfield Park area, after 35 years in Western New York State. I picked this practice by the "fickle finger of fate" method and couldn't be more thrilled with my exam and treatment. Everyone was so courteous and knowledgeable. Exam was very thorough and complete. Dr. Edwards did an excellent job, as did Sarah, with the technical part of the exam. They were both exceptionally nice and put you at ease with the entire process. The young man who greets you at reception, was very friendly and makes you feel welcome. Carmen, the Intake Specialist, was charming and delightful. Tami, at the billing desk was pleasant and very helpful, in making the payment process easy, and I don't even have insurance. Because I was a self pay patient, she allowed a nice and welcome discount, on the bill. I sincerely and wholeheartedly recommend this practice to anyone, for your eye health care needs!!!!!

Went in for a new patient exam and had a great experience! The front staff went above and beyond to figure out my “untraditional” vision insurance. The back staff were professional yet made me feel at ease and comfortable. Dr. Edwards was very thorough, kind and explained everything to me. Highly recommend her and her staff!

As a result, I have seen many different Doctors over the years. I was very impressed with Dr. Edwards as well as the facilities they have. They were very thorough and knowledgeable. They ran several tests on me including a couple that were new to my previous experiences. I highly recommend them. I was very confident in the results of my visit.

I took my daughters for a regular eye exam and it was a fabulous experience! Their last exam at another doctor office was less than pleasant, but my girls walked out of this office feeling well cared for. The optometrist took time to make sure she thoroughly examined them. The two ladies in the optical area were delightful and incredibly helpful. They even consoled my daughter that didn’t need glasses when the others did. They made her feel extra special and upon our visit to pick up the glasses, they lifted her spirits and she walked out with a huge smile. I’d recommend them to anyone !

I love going here. The staff is very pleasant. This has been mine and my daughter's eye doctor for over 10 years. I have to say there are two fabulous women in the optical section. Ana and Ashley. These women have went above and beyond to help me and my daughter. Ana has compassion above and beyond what any one would expect. I was a patient at the Cataract & Laser Institute on October 14, 2020, where I was seen by Dr. Kimmell, who was assisted by Sarah T. I had been having eye problems for a fairly long time, and these problems were finally addressed by Dr. Kimmell. He told me exactly what the problems were and how he planned to fix them. Although it was a crowded day, everything went smoothly, without a long wait. Before I left, I had both my procedure and follow up appointments scheduled. I would definitely recommend the Cataract & Laser Institute, as everyone that I interacted with was very knowledgeable and friendly. It was a good experience.

Slowly, s l o w l y............insidiously, the world became the dark woods ..... my powers ever-diminishing, the soft, safe, brightly hued environment morphed into a harsh dangerous tenebrous place where shapes were but rushing ghosts. Would I find a magic sword, the fountain of youth, or be transported through a worm hole to another time and place where I would have super powers and able to not only survive, but flourish. Children's Adventure Sci-Fi plot??? NO, a description of my world as cataracts developed over many years. With the diminishing amount of light coming through my eyes, my grief 's Denial took over on multiple levels trying the wildest imaginations of ways I could self-heal my cataracts. Gradually coming to acceptance of the debilitating condition I started researching cataract surgery. Having found a resource that was head and shoulders above everyone else, I took the step. My very first encounter at the Cataract and Laser Institute, Indianapolis was as Lightning with Silent Thunder. Fears and trepidation about my compromised abilities to function in every day activities were passionately and compassionately demolished. Without exception, each individual made me feel like I was the one and only patient they had. The combination of personal and professional dedication relaxed me. With quick and efficient application of multiple skills my existence was elevated to where I was among a Band Of Angels. Co-ordination of the Institute with St Francis Surgery center were Next Level. My surgery days felt like Spa Days. I was now attended to by Choirs of Angels. Frequent communication, checks, double-checks, and triple-checks by the virtuoso teams of the Laser Institute and Hospital brought the highest level of conscientiousness to the already highest level of skill. Dr Smith who did my pre-op and post-op care defies description by mere words as she deftly flowed from cracker-jack high tech maven, to doting counselor, to caring practitioner with a “human helper” vocation that creates light in the soul as well as the body, to an every day human being who would walk with anyone to make their life better. One example of how I was put at ease is the immediate conversation the staff had with me about the book I was reading and other books I like. They told me that the history given them by my regular eye doctor included my love of books. Props to all! Another example of how I was treated that brought confidence was that the staff genuinely interacted so sensitively and caring. I could feel and know they cared about each and every human being. Every move they made was purposely directed with attention to my comfort and to the scientific measurements that would give them the information for and optimal intervention. I had NO doubt that the lens chosen for my eye would be the ABSOLUTE BEST FIT because of the scrutiny given to those measurements! A third reason I felt so at home there was being called by my first name after the staff and I had become in sync with each other – and created a bond of beneficence. The BOTTOM LINE in all of this was getting to see again without glasses or contact lenses using laser surgery's latest technology – MINIMUM INTERVENTION WITH MAXIMUM RESULTS. The time I spent with Dr Long, while brief, was profound in the intensely focused caring which he actuated. Dr Long's individual astounding surgical expertise along with the Institute and it's affiliates made that happen perfectly. What more can I say? PERFECTLY PERFECT PROCEDURES by PERFECTLY PERFECT PEOPLE. ...and that is my simple truth, said with the greatest gratitude............. Henry Jude Karwowski
