I had my PRK procedure done on 12/6/19. I was originally recommended to Dr. January, as he is really the best, but he was unavailable the day of my surgery, so Dr. Merkley did it instead. I was really nervous and scared to do PRK, because I've had Lasik done before, but everything went better than expected. And it is super quick! A few seconds per eye. Amazingly, there was no real pain. My recovery/healing after the procedure went well too. I would say on a scale of 1-10, my pain/discomfort level was only about a 5-6. I'm glad I finally stopped putting this off and got it done. My experience at Joffe MediCenter was really good. Shai, Dr. Do, Dr. Su, and the nurse staff were all super friendly, and attentive to me during each visit. I highly recommend coming here for your Lasik or PRK needs. Decided that i wanted 20/20 vision in 2020. 24hours after my procedure I can see a little better than 20/20. After 20 years of wearing contacts, since i was 8 years old, I'm excited to not have to wear them anymore. To go from not being able to see my hand in front of my face 1 foot away to not being able to see just as if I had my glasses on is awesome.

Staff was amazing. Very reassuring on the day of treatment. 24 hours after treatment my vision is 20/15! Price was lower than other places that I’ve researched. They were willing to work with me for my no interest payment plan. It is through Care Credit. I was nervous going into the procedure but they definitely do everything to make you as comfortable as they can. Would definitely recommend.

I had a great experience both in my original exam and for my surgery. The staff is very friendly, informative and really set you at ease. The space itself is clean and comfortable and you do not feel like it's a cattle call. The procedure to not take very long, 1 hour from entering the building to procedure end. I've had great results, driving at night the day after my appointment and been working at my computer every day almost since. Their pricing is more competitive than most and they offer financing options as well. They just made the entire thing very easy!

The whole staff is very friendly and makes you feel comfortable. My procedure was very easy and quick. The consultations are quick as well but very thorough. They answered all my questions and were very informative. Dr. January made me feel calm during the whole procedure. There was discomfort after surgery but only lasted for about an hour. Everything felt fine after my 5hr nap. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.

The staff was very knowledgable and answered every and any question I had. I had my procedure done and took less than 10 minutes. I felt fine after taking a 5 hr nap. Dr. Sue is fantastic and even called me later that day to check on me. So friendly and makes you feel very comfortable. They stay on top of making sure you have followup visits with them. A day after the surgery I almost had 20/15 vision (which is better than 20/20). Look forward to my visit a month from now!

I had my evaluation appointment with the Jorge staff. They were very thorough with there exam. Every member of the staff was well trained and very professional. Made you feel like you had known them your whole life. After the exam I was told I really wasn't a good candidate for the procedure. I had the choice to say yes or no but they highly recommended not to do it. I have worn contacts for 40 years and with that news was very disappointed.. I very much appreciated their professional opinion and honesty. Would highly recommend these fine people to anyone.

Very professional people. I highly recommended this place. Everything went smooth from start to finish. They took the time to explain everything to me and answer every question and concerns I have. My eye surgeon was Dr. January. The procedure was approx 10 minutes. The staff is very helpful. The next day I’m seeing 20/20. Dr Do and Dr. Su was awesome! They are very approachable. ROXY, ASHLEY, and SHAY (I hope I’m spelling his name right) were personable. I was very nervous prior to the procedure and was trying not to freak out but Ashley helped me tremendously by rubbing my shoulder during the hardest part, which is the flap creation. I just got LASIK done for both of my eyes today. Since nobody could be able to go with me, I had to go by myself and took the ride home. However, the staffs were super friendly and professional. They kept me being calm by rubbing my arms, talking to me to help me to focus on the light during the surgery. It has been 12 hours and I’m feeling great after a long nap. Can’t wait to go check up tomorrow to see what my current vision is, but HEY, I KNOW I’M NOT BLIND ANYMORE 😊😊

I just had my eyes done yesterday and the difference is amazing! Not fumbling around for where I put my glasses when I woke up was a treat, and so far recovery has been quick and side effect free. From the beginning it was a great experience. I submitted my free consultation online on Monday 6/12/17 around 9:00 am before 10:00 someone had already contacted me and I was able to get in by 11 to have my consultation. From the minute I walked in I felt comfortable. The girls at the front couldn't be nicer they were so welcoming. All the staff Is so professional and friendly. The lady that performed the consultation is so knowledgeable so sweet. Before the surgery they go over again all questions you may have and the lady that answered all my questions prior to the surgery was incredible sweet. The Dr makes you feel so confident and comfortable. The surgery it's actually kinda scary I was freaking out but again the confidence the Dr gives you makes you go thru the whole surgery at peace. I'm so happy I found this place googling best lasik places in Houston. The reviews were actually true. Again I can't explain how happy and excited I feel about this place and about no wearing glasses anymore. I had my surgery around 11 am and I was able to drive myself to my consultation at 4 and I was able to SEE. I hope my vision gets clearer and clearer but for now I'm ecstatic about the results so far and the whole experience with Joffe.

I really appreciated that they walk you through every detail, from what they're looking at to make sure you're a good candidate to what to expect during and post-surgery. I had gone to an initial consultation at another place locally and they didn't go in-depth at all about any of this. I felt like I was in very capable hands and during the surgery, everyone did a great job of keeping me calm. My vision was pretty blurry the day of and the day after but has steadily improved (it's been about two weeks since the procedure). I have slight fuzziness when I look at lights and a bit of dry eye in the morning, but that's it! Everyone heals differently but if you stare at a computer screen for 8+ hours a day, you may want to block off a few days for recovery. I had 3 days off but even then, my first day back was hard on my eyes.

They were able to work around my schedule so I didn't have to take off work to come to appointments. They made the experience easy and provide financing options. The day of my surgery I did have to wait almost 2.5 hours past my scheduled surgery time to actually get in an have the surgery done, but it was a success. The staff here is very kind. I have been waiting to write my review until a few days after my surgery and my follow-up appointment, and here I am 3 days later. I qualified for the promotion, so my Lasik actually ended up costing a TOTAL of $795 per eye. Needless to say that's incredibly cheap and the deal is real, so I want everyone to know that. Even without the deal, they're WAY cheaper than everyone else in Houston. I can say that it went very well, and everyone was very nice. It's true that they're very pushy to get you to write a review, which I don't like, but I also realize that it's how they keep their costs down and drive traffic vs advertisement costs etc that the other companies spend money on, which drive up their costs. I got my Lasik done at 10AM on a Friday morning, and after taking a nap when I got home, woke up with restored vision. I'm 34 and haven't worn glasses or contacts since I was 16, so my eyes aren't used to seeing clearly at all and haven't tried to focus on anything in the distance in a long time, therefore my brain has to catch up now before some of my blurriness will go away, but Joffe has assured me that in a few weeks I'll have excellent vision. That being said, I already see far better than I ever have, and was able to read the 20/15 line during my test. So 3 days later, I have 20/15 vision that's only going to get better and better over time. Will update review in 30 days. Thanks Joffe!

I can see 20/10 and it’s only my second day after the surgery.... I. Am. Ecstatic!!!! It’s the best money I have ever spent! I’m so so happy. I have never been able to see this well. The first day was a bit uncomfortable at first but I just slept alllll day in a pitch black cold room. When I woke up I could already see amazing and it’s only improved since then. They have a great staff. The doctor is great and they clearly (pun intended) have done an amazing job on my eyes.

I recommend Joffe MediCenter the nurses are very kind and treat you very good. They did Lasik on April 19 and for the same day in the afternoon I was already seeing very well. Unfortunately, my left eye still had astigmatism and so I didn’t have 20/20 in both eyes right away. The team at Joffe helped me throughout the entire process to make sure my left eye matched my right eye and to take care of the severe astigmatism in my left eye with an enhancement surgery within 6 months after my initial surgery. Amazing! Every single person I have dealt with there has been fantastic! So helpful, calm, friendly and knowledgeable! I had a severe astigmatism in my right eye and I'm already seeing a HUGE difference and it hasn't even been 24 hours! I was super nervous before my procedure and Dr. January took the time to sit with me, answer my questions, and joke around for a few minutes. At no point did I ever feel uncomfortable. This place is the best. I was really nervous about getting lasik but I had nothing to worry about. The staff at Joffe is amazing and they walk you through every step of the procedure. Everyone who stepped out of the operating room before me had a big smile on their faces so that was reassuring. It didn't hurt at all. When I woke up on the first day my vision was still blurry so I was worried that I'd still have to wear glasses but the next day when I woke up everything was much better and better the next day even. I can't believe I waited so long for this. I had no discomfort at all.

I’ve had reservations about this procedure for years. I’ve been in glasses since I was 5. Finally came for a consultation and was very impressed had the procedure and after I woke up from the suggested sleep time it was instant gratification I was so emotional to see the TV or the guide on the TV or lines on the street driving at night for the first time in a long time I would definitely recommend or anyone the procedure was so simple and quick the staff and the physician talk you through it and it was not bad at all. This place is amazing! Staff and doctors are all so nice and patient. Roxy did my initial consultation and she was friendly, personable, and laughed at all my nervous jokes like she meant it. The questions were thorough and I found that reassuring. Dr. Law did my initial eye exam and she took her time to answer my questions, and never did I feel rushed or like I was just another patient on her list. I scheduled my appointment for the week after, and was given consent forms to review for the day of, and told to wear my glasses for the two days prior to procedure. The morning of procedure, Dr. Law did another eye exam, and then I was led into a room to watch a video and prepare. Dr. Merkley came in to explain what I was going to expect and answered any remaining questions. During the procedure Ingrid was the best person - she helped Dr. Merkley walk me through what was happening, counting down how long certain parts would be. It was much more helpful than I can explain. The next AM I had my follow up and Dr. Shai was funny, relaxed, and just as enthusiastic about my improved eyesight as I was. First visit I went in for my initial consultation and everyone was super helpful and comforting making sure I was at the best of the best in this category. They did seem a little pushy into getting the procedure done asap during my initial consultation but I didn’t give in too much as this type of procedure often times needs some thought if not twice. Went home thought about it a couple days and scheduled my procedure date. Here I am 3 days after my procedure and I have to say...great choice into doing lasik and even better having it done at Joffe. Just have to make sure to continuously use the eye drops per doctors discretion and you’ll have perfect eyes. Definitely no more headache with contact lenses or glasses. Got my consultation done back in October of 2017. Called and was still within the time period to do my surgery. Its 03/09/18 and i got my surgery done yesterday. Im already seeing 20/20 and besides the minor pains i had yesterday after the surgery (which are completely normal) i feel perfectly fine in just 24hrs. When I arrived for my lasik evaluation the front staff was very courteous and I did not wait long at all. Once in the back I was greeted by Ashley. It was a smooth process and the people there are very nice. They even gave me the prescription I needed when I failed to have it with me on the day of surgery. All the employees were very nice and helpful with all my questions. Consultation was very thorough. They ran measures in my eyes in many different ways. In better ways than normal eye doctors who prescribe contacts and glasses do. I was in and out of the surgery room in about an hour. The actual surgery took like 15-20min. I received no pain during surgery but the suction cup pressure on my left eye made my brain perceive it as pain as someone pushing my eyes in or something (when it was first done in my right eye I didn't feel much; I was told it was the way the brain anticipated the suction cup that made it feel that way). The only pain I received (which is the worst part) is the burning pain in my eyes for 3 hours like 30min after the surgery, which is a very normal side effect. Pretty happy with my results. I went here because on Yelp they had the top 3-5 ratings for Lasik. I researched quite a few Lasik centers and the best value (good price and good quality) seemed to be at Joffe without insurance.

I have had a longer than normal relationship with the staff at Joffe and they are amazing! I got my first procedure done last year in February 2016 but unfortunately my eyes did not heal as they should and I still needed a small correction. I was moving out of the country only 3 months after my first procedure and they couldn't do my enhancement so quickly afterwards. While I was in Denmark, Dr. Su was so helpful and communicative to let me know exactly what I needed to get from my eye doctors in order to keep them on track with how my eyes were doing. It would have been very easy for any company to write me off and not be as helpful but they were AMAZING! I just got my enhancement (which is free within 18 months of your procedure). It was quick and simple and most importantly they took all the necessary precautions to make sure my eyes were ready for the enhancement so I felt comfortable going back under. As for the actual procedure it is so quick and simple and I remember the nurse holding my hand the first time around because I was so nervous. They are vey professional, with very competitive prices. I feel like they are my family (I literally hugged Dr. Su when I saw her after all our emailing back and forth). They will do anything they can to make sure you feel comfortable and welcome!

I couldn’t see far before and Symptoms after procedures are completely normal and you just have to be patient and do your eye drops on time which is easy. I was at a -5 with an astigmatism in both eyes and have worn glasses/ contacts basically all of my life! I was nervous I wouldn't be a candidate for Lasik but the staff were thorough in their exams and deemed that I was in fact a good candidate for Lasik. Woohoo. Moving on to the procedure. During the procedure, I did feel some pressure and obviously felt the eye opener things being put into my eyes, but aside from that, the laser and procedure itself was painless. Your vision goes away (I know that sounds scary but I rather have that than be able to see what's going on). It was literally less than 15 minutes too. On the ride home, I did feel even more pressure and slight burning in my eyes, but someone just sliced my eyeballs open, so I couldn't imagine it being all the way painless. All in all, I'm happy I had the procedure done at Joffe with Dr. January. I even price compared between a few places and Joffe was slightly more expensive (could have gotten it cheaper with my insurance discount somewhere else) but I don't regret my decision. Dr. January had a lot of energy and managed to make me laugh even though I was a little nervous. The staff was attentive while I was there and everyone was really professional. I just left my follow-up appointment (it's been roughly 48 hours since my procedure) and although I am still seeing a liiiiiiiittle blurry, I am seeing 20/15! (I also drove to Joffe by myself, which is something I could NOT have done without proper eye wear before). I'm super happy with my results so far; I can't wait to be properly healed! If you're considering Joffe, at least go in and check it out. So sappy, but they've legit changed my life, and they can change yours too!

This is the most amazing place! The staff is so warm and friendly and makes you feel so comfortable in a situation that for most is very scary. I must say that I was the patient that saw "Final Destination" and was horrified at the thought of a laser anywhere near my eye. I must have asked 10 times for more drops to be sure my eye was numb lol. Did they get impatient with me? ABSOLUTELY NOT! We somehow ended up laughing in the middle of the procedure. I cannot recommend Joffe enough. You can get LASIK anywhere these days but you can never match the quality of their staff and care. Highly recommended- went from a -9 prescription to having 20/15 vision when I woke up the next morning! I first want to put out there that I had a -9 prescription with my contacts and glasses before having lasik done at Joffe. My vision was so bad to the extent that I was worried that I wouldn't be a good candidate to have lasik at all. I was practically blind y'all. I'm a research-before-I-do-anything guy, and after quite a bit of research I chose to go with Joffe Medicenter Lasik. Upon arrival at the office for the free consultation to make sure I was a good lasik candidate, everything looked clean, new, and well decorated/designed throughout the facility. Also every employee was extremely charismatic, friendly, and knowledgeable about the whole lasik process. I was taken through to do a little mini-tour of the office during my consultation by Sabrina and I was pleased to see that my first impression of the waiting area was telling of the rest of the office as it was all very clean, new, and had a comfortable feel to it all. Sabrina was awesome. After the initial consultation (which was thorough, but still free) I was told I was, in fact, a good candidate for lasik despite my terribly strong prescription! At my request, I was scheduled to have the procedure done the day before Thanksgiving- two days after my consultation, with my follow-up appointment on Thanksgiving Day. Needless to say Joffe is very flexible to work with you and your schedule. The day of the procedure was very smooth. I was brought back for one more look at my eyes/prescription, given the numbing drops and relaxation medication, got my massage in one of their massage chairs in the back, and I was good to go! I met Dr. January just before the procedure, and he went over my specific file while going over the exact game plan for my specific procedure- he is very charismatic and friendly as well. Then during the procedure I felt no pain, only pressure, and Dr. January and the techs talk you through the whole process which lasted about 10 minutes. After getting up I could IMMEDIATELY see without glasses or contacts! This was an amazing feeling to me because of how bad my vision has been my whole life leading up to this. I took a pic with Dr. January, thanked him and everyone in the office, and walked out with my shades on and eye drops in hand. Immediately after the procedure was complete I was able to see, but with some significant cloudiness (which is understandable given the fact that your eyes just went through surgery). My eyes were definitely sensitive to light so those shades they give you will be your best friend immediately after, and they were fairly dry with the feeling you have if you slept in your contacts overnight. Once the numbing drops begin to wear off, you will feel some discomfort and some burning in your eyes. This is uncomfortable, but definitely bearable. To help with this, you will definitely want some Tylenol PM or something similar to take immediately after the procedure to help with the discomfort and to help you sleep the 4-5 hours that you need to sleep for your eyes to recover. After sleeping the recommended number of hours, I woke up with no discomfort and could see even better! Still a little cloudy and dry, but everything was great other than that. I drove to my follow-up appointment the following morning to find confirm that everything is healing smoothly and to find out that I now have 20/15 vision!! This is better than 20/20! Definitely better results than I expected going in and completely an amazing experience for me coming from a -9 prescription. I just want to thank Sabrina, Ashley, Dr. Su, Dr. January, and everyone else in that office for making this such a smooth and amazing experience for me! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

I went to Joffe for PRK on my right eye. The staff is very professional and took the time to answer my questions before scheduling the surgery. I was in and out really fast. The issue I had was that the very first night the bandage contact in my eye came out and it felt like my eye got hit by the full force of the dust storm. It was after hours and my wife called the after hours number for the clinic. One of the doctors took the time to direct me to a facility and met me at the facility and then replaced the bandage. To me that is going above and beyond. My eye has recovered really well and my vision is improving. For over 20 years I have been behind those eyeglasses, and whenever I took a shower, went swimming, or even just came indoor in winter, the whole world was just all blur. This is a well-organized and efficient practice that delivers. The counseling appointment and evaluation for lasik was very thorough. They were very transparent about the process and expectations. On the day of surgery Dr. Merkley was responsible for performing my surgery. He worked with another colleague that kept me calm and literally talked me through the entire process. I found that to be extremely helpful. On my first post-op visit my vision was 20/15 so clearly I got what I was looking for! As it pertains to the initial recovery it was definitely a challenge for me. The first two hours I had non-ceasing burning and stinging in my eyes. This was actually worst than the procedure. It’s an expected outcome but I just want to mention it as a warning. My only major gripe is that I had broken capillaries/blood-shot eyes after the procedure. This can take up to two weeks to resolve and aesthetically it’s very unattractive. If this will be a concern to you I recommend blocking out sometime for this healing as well. The contract does mention “redness” but I think that’s not explicit enough as I interpreted it as generalized irritation of the conjunctiva. This was not my case. The redness was bright red blood specs in my eye. I expressed my concerns and a drug Lumify was recommended. ************************************* Update: Lumify was ineffective at clearing my redness but I’m hoping it clears with time.

Alrighty, let’s see... haha ohhh? What do you know? I can now thanks to Joffe!!! 🤗 But, seriously here’s what I’ve got to say. Before visiting the Joffe office I was terrified about the idea of getting this procedure done. I mean how could I not be? I would freak myself out with videos that I found online, the idea that the procedure would be painful and scary since I was awake for it all, and then of course there was also the consideration that something could go wrong and that I’d possibly lose my eyesight. Upon arriving at Joffe I was greeted by Mr. pleasant Shai he was very kind from start to finish which helped me feel extremely comfortable and allowed me to forget that I was there to potentially schedule a scary procedure. After, having one of the tests completed we were then greeted by Dr.Su who is an immaculate specimen of a woman! She was very profesional and sweet! She further helped me feel extremely comfortable about the idea of really going through with the procedure. At the end of my free consultation I was provided with the great news that I was a good candidate for lasik and that I could have the procedure completed as soon as that same week. They made sure that all questions were answered prior to the procedure and they all were wonderful. Upon the procedure date I surprisingly felt no fear because I felt confident that I could trust a team like the one at Joffe. I took the Xanax and then woopty doo I went! About 30-45 mins after taking the medication I felt relaxed and when I was called into the room it only took 5-10 mins for both eyes and I was done. It ONLY took 5-10 mins to improve my life. If you’re considering lasik GO TO JOFFE! I’m so happy with my results and it’s all thanks to this amazing team! Thank you all!!!

10/29 update: day3 after Lasik and I CAN SEE SO CLEAR & WITHOUT A SINGLE ISSUE.. the procedure took less than 10 minutes. Ashley was soothing and Dr. January was so positive. The MD before getting in the OR (Dr Sue or Doe?) Was realistic in answering all my questions and that was what I needed before the procedure. I hope everything continues to go well! I am more than happy with the decision that I made! For now I am giving them 3 stars for their kind staff, however, I felt RUSHED through the consultation. I asked about my dry eyes and the MD was not available to answer because there were only 2 doctors.They said yes I was qualified for the surgery and didnt guarantee how long I'd be without glassess which is understandable. Idk.. I'm nervous, but also looking forward to good results.

I really enjoyed my experience at the Joffe Medicenter. They were very knowledgeable about answering my questions and concerns about the risks and procedure in a friendly manner. I went with the custom, all-laser lasik, and only experienced very little discomfort during the procedure. Since then, my recovery has been swift. Before my surgery, I did a lot of shopping and comparisons for lasik, and I concluded that Joffe seemed to provide the most value. They were at least 20% cheaper than some of the other reputable places, yet still were using the latest technology and had strong consumer reviews. My experience so far further reinforced my belief that I made the right choice to go with Joffe. I would do the whole process over again if I had to, and would recommend to others to at least consult with Joffe for their lasik.

Very smooth sailing, the only thing that was uncomfortable was the suction machine but that only lasts about 20 seconds. Had all laser lasik on both eyes. It was a bit freaky while the procedure was being done but it was fast and painless. Had prep assistance from Ashley G. and Dr. Su, who were great. I took the Valium pill which helped me relax. Dr. Merkley did the procedure and was great too, very efficient. I just had a bit of burning and eye watering the first day, but after that they felt fine. Just been putting in drops to moisturize. It's the day after and I already feel like I have my glasses on, just a bit hazy yet. I'm confident it should clear up soon. I highly recommend the staff at this center! Went for free consultation last week. Staff was friendly, thorough and very knowledgeable. Dr. Su suggested, because of my vision, I get the procedure in only one eye, which I had heard before from my previous Dr. I also agreed. This assured me that they were not out for money but are considerate of the patients best interest. I had Lasik done yesterday morning. I was very nervous but was calmed after meeting with Dr Merkley. Procedure took maybe 5 minutes. Didn't feel a thing just a little pressure when they were putting the eye holders on. They kept me informed on everything they were doing. Next thing I knew, it was over. Went home and went to sleep. Woke up with vision a little blurry but not bad. Could immediately see a difference. This morning there is no blurry eyes just a bit dry. Once I put the drops in all was good. Make sure you use drops as directed. I am so glad I made the discussion to have it done. I highly recommend it and Joffe.

Getting Lasik surgery is the best decision I ever made. I don’t have any regrets and would gladly do it again if my eyes ever go bad. My experience at Joffe was great and exciting. I originally thought the place was a scam due to its affordable price but everything was legit. The staffs are very welcoming and nice. They take you through every step and answer any questions you may have. I highly recommend checking them out and you can use my name “TONY CHAN” as a referral so that I get $50 and you’ll get $50 off the surgery. The consultation is free and will help ease you in the process. They didn’t make any false promises like getting 100% 20/20 vision but instead gave me realistic expectations. This was a life changing experience for me. I love waking up every morning seeing the world without the need of glasses. Here are some of my advices after you do the Lasik surgery. Make sure you follow everything the staffs tell you to do. Meaning to take the eye drops at the right time, wear the eye shield when sleeping, don’t rub your eyes, etc. If you watch TV or work in front of computer, take a break every hour so your eyes can rest. Make sure you use preservative free eye drops. This was the hardest part for me but try to remain very patient. It’s going to take time for the eyes to heal and so stay focus on taking care of your eyes and everything will turn out great. Hope this helps and good luck. –TONY CHAN

Hi I’m 29 and i decided to opt for lasik surgery, let me tell you. It was the quickest procedure I’ve been through. It wasn’t scary, but my left eye is a lot worst than my right so that one hurt slightly. The drive home I couldn’t really open my eyes, I took some drops and KTFO. When I woke I could open my eyes better, utilize the drops, and I was playing games again. I started driving the next day. Now I’m at my follow up. Write a review and get a Tshirt :)

The facilities are clean and comfortable. The nurses explain post care very well. Joffe is a well-oiled machine. They know what they are doing, the surgery was quick and painless for me. Do follow the instructions by going straight to sleep post-surgery and putting drops in regularly. The day after my surgury I was seeing 20/20! My eyes were extremely bad (-6.75 in both eyes) so it’s pretty awesome to be able to see without glasses or contacts in as little as 12 hours! I can’t say enough about Dr. Merkley and Joffe Medicenter! I would recommend this place to anyone looking to have elective Lasik surgery.

After a lot of deliberation, I finally decided, about a month ago, to get LASIK. I'm about to go on a month-long backpacking trip, and the prospect of having to bring contact solution in my 45L pack was daunting. Plus, my job is about to require a lot of long hours, and neither my eyes nor my nose enjoy contacts and glasses for 30+ hours (respectively). But because LASIK is an elective procedure, and my vision at baseline isn't so bad, I was still a little nervous when I walked into Joffe Medicenter yesterday for my procedure. However, the staff was warm, courteous, professional, and knowledgeable. Most had even had their own personal experiences with LASIK, and were happy with the results, which was probably the most reassuring part. The actual procedure only took a few minutes (and was preceded by some Valium, which was a big plus). There was some transient discomfort, but a staff member walked me through each step of the procedure while it was happening, so nothing came as a surprise, which I really appreciated. I was able to see immediately after the procedure, and received very clear instructions on exactly how to administer my eyedrops after going home. My vision became clearer over the next several hours, and then markedly improved when I woke up the day after. Today (on post-op day 1) my vision is 20/15! I'm so excited to wake up every day with clear vision! Thanks Dr. Merkley and everyone at Joffe Medicenter! (Also, you gotta love the massage chairs situated all around the office. I definitely fell asleep right before my procedure!)

A-MA-ZING! Had a wonderful LASIK experience at Joffe yesterday! I had done weeks of research and after my initial consultation a few weeks, I decided to have Joffe do my procedure. Dr. Merkley and the entire staff are amazing and very professional! I was literally in and out of the procedure room in about 12 minutes - it really is that quick - and hardly felt a thing! I had some minor discomfort for about the first 2 hours after the procedure but it quickly went away. I had a pretty advanced prescription (-6.25% in both eyes) and a slight astigmatism in both eyes so I was a bit skeptical only one procedure would be enough - but indeed it was! I woke up this morning seeing incredibly and feeling nearly 100%! It's like super hi-def - 4K vision! Dr. Merkley got the adjustments just right - not too little, no too much. Amazing doctors (Dr. Merkley and Dr. Su), and amazing staffs!!! I got my LASIK survey done on 12/9/2016. I had been wearing glasses for 14 years, and getting LASIK done is definitely one of the major decisions in my life. I did my research online when it came to picking a clinic, and I found Joffe LASIK center. I was amazed by the amount of positive reviews on both Google and Yelp. And Joffe was also ranked number 1 on Angie's list. So I decided to go in for an initial consultation on 12/6. After seeing the good facility and nice and knowledgeable staff and doctors, I decided to have my surgery scheduled asap because I was just so sick of walking around seeing everything blurry (I really disliked wearing glasses or contacts and had been avoid wearing them for a long time now even tho I should). It was definitely nerve racking for me as I have a relative low tolerance for pain. The whole procedure was very short, Dr. Merkley performed the surgery for me. I was nervous during the procedure, but due to the numbing eye drops, I did not feel any actual pain. After the procedure was done, I was able to open my eyes and see things right away!!! I walked out of the facility wearing just regular protective sunglasses but I was already seeing the difference in my vision. However, I do need to warn you that, like the doctors mentioned, there is definitely discomfort after the numbing drops wear off...I was tearing so much and couldn't have my eyes open on the way back home and had to take pain killers to help with the pain. I slept right away despite the discomfort in my eyes for around 2 hours. After I woke up, the pain was mostly gone and I was seeing crystal clear (with very small halos around lights and stuff, but nothing major that bothered me). Today is the second day post op and I went in for my first check up. The only thing that is bothering me today is I feel like there is a sand grain constantly rubbing on my upper left corner in my right eye. But other than that everything is perfect. Dr. Su had my eyes checked and told me I have 20/20 in both eyes, and seeing with both eyes together I have 20/15! I am extremely happy with the results I got from Joffe, for years now I can finally see things! I would highly recommend Joffe to anyone who considers doing LASIK!!!

Update. It has been 2 weeks. I'm still adjusting to the fact that I don't need my glasses anymore. It's true sometimes my vision is good (mostly day) and sometimes bad (mostly night). If you are a side sleeper it will be harder for you. Best is back sleeper. Today, at this hour is my official 24 hrs after my full custom laser lasik surgery. My feeling is incredibly. Can only describe with two words, Total Happiness! ** tip: drink a sleeping pill right before you go into surgery. By the time the 15 minutes over you should be ready to sleep. The actual surgery is about 2 minutes. 5 minutes after the surgery your eyes will feel the uncomfort. So that sleeping pill kick in just in time. It's best to sleep for the next 12 hours.... I started by searching around looking at several places but i found that Joffe have their price extremely simple. I came in for a exam. They are certainly very thorough with really advance technology and GUARANTEE NO AiR PUFF so you can go thru them exam at ease. The staff and doctors are very nice and joyful. They are willing to address any concerns and questions with details. I feel very comfortable, and I appreciate that very much.

I had my lasik on 5/22/2015. It's been 10 months & my eyes are still 20/15 (which is better than 20/20)! I had relatively high description of nearsightedness (6.5 dioptres each eye), been wearing glasses for 15 years, NEVER wore contacts before (because I was too scared to put something in my eyes), and my eyes were EXTREMELY sensitive towards everything (including eyedrops). COST - After researching for different places including their reviews & prices, Joffe is the one offers the lowest price with the highest review ratings! Their regular procedure is $1,395 per eye. I chose the All-Laser Lasik procedure at $1,695 per eye. Even though I was qualified for both procedures & they told me it wouldn't be any different in quality between the 2 procedures, my optometrist recommended to ALWAYS choose All-Laser Lasik for a minimum possibility of complication. I only have 2 eyes, so I wouldn't mind paying some extra for a higher successful rate. They also have a great referral program too. If you give them my name - THAO NGUYEN, you will have some discount on your procedure. GOOD - (1) Very friendly & supportive staff - everyone was so energetic! (2) They don't make you wait too long for any appointment. (3) They don't make you commit in anything until the very last minute before you go into the procedure! From the very first step when you come for an eye exam, you schedule your surgery appointment, you come in for the surgery, you discuss again with the staff & ask them all the questions - no payment all the way till this point so you can literally make up your mind at the very last minute before the surgery! (4) The cost of medication for post-procedure was extremely affordable!! My friends spent around $500 for their medication & I spent less than $100 in total. The results still turned out wonderfully! They explained their prescription had the same function as the expensive ones but from the more affordable brands because other locations will receive higher incentive when they make you buy the more expensive medication. PROCEDURE - Their staff had been super friendly, understandable, and very supportive in answering your quétions & making sure you feel as comfortable as possible. The procedure took about 10-15 minutes. They let you lay down, put a light blanket on & gave you something to hold on so you could release your stress. Honestly, just like everyone said, I only felt the pressure but no pain whatsoever! Oh and I still saw things during the procedure too. Not the whole procedure but only here & there. It was a very interesting experience. You should be able to start seeing things clearly right after the procedure. :) 6-8 hours after the procedure was the most uncomfortable part of this whole lasik thing (yes, even more than the procedure itself!). Probably also because I never wore contacts before so my eyes were never been under such a pressure like that. Just make sure to take some Advid PM or something else that can put you asleep so you can sleep through the discomfort. The moment when I opened my eyes in the following morning was AMAZING! First time ever in 15 years I can see the wall clock that clear right after I opened my eyes!!! It was totally worth all of the efforts. Just please make sure to put all of the drops on time as instructed.I know this might sound too simple & obvious but believe me, you don't want to skip or be late for any part of it. I went strictly with the assigned schedule for the antibiotic & other drops. My eyes did not experience any dryness at all! Within 3-6 months from the procedure, some glares & hallows are normal. Red bruises on the white part of your eyes are normal (should go away after 1 month). Difficulty in focusing on small texts can happen. Temporary dry eyes are very common for majority of people getting lasik (not me though - teehee :D) However, all of the symptoms will get better through time. TRUST ME, THIS "INVESTMENT" IS TOTALLY WORTH IT! GOOD LUCK!!! :) THAO NGUYEN

Had my Lasik eye surgery today. Was an extremely great experience. So to most people who are nervous about this I’ll tell you how it all went. You start off by showing up 15 min ahead of time to complete some paperwork, then the take you to do one last eye exam to make sure everything is perfect. Then you get to sit in a message chair and watch a video on how the procedure will go. The entire time you are there, they are extremely intentitve to your needs. There was a gentleman named Shay who was great and really calmed my wife done. (We both had it done ) He was very possitive and upbeat and made us laugh.( love his accent) he needs a raise for sure!! After you take your volume if you want it you are completely relaxed. The doctor comes in (Dr Merkley for us) explains what’s going on, very reassuring, great guy. Then you lay one the table and they tell you step by step what to do. You stair at a green light and you do not have to worry about blinking because you eyes are taped open, and then there is a little pressure for about 15 seconds, a suction cup like machine holds your eye in place so you can’t move it. And then bam 10 seconds later your done and can immediately see. Crazy how everything looks HD now. Thank you guys for everything.

Had lasik eye surgery here yesterday with Dr. Merkel and I have to say I am very pleased. The idea of someone cutting into my eye bald was a bit nerve wrecking, but everyone did an amazing job helping me relax. It helped tremendously to have Dr. Merkel and Ashley talking me through it the entire time. Ashley was like the coach on the side line keeping me updated every step of the way. Today I am doing my post op follow up with Dr. Su who is as sweet as pie. I love her energy. As for my vision..... I have a lot of dryness, but I keep my eye drops near by and put them in as told. I tried putting my glasses on today and they were too strong to see out of. Last night I really got to see a difference when I looked at my television to sync with my Hulu app and I didn't have to squint or move up to see the pin number to link the two to stream Hulu. Overall if you are tired of wearing corrective lens I recommend you come visit the Joffe MediCenter. They quoted me a little over half the place I did a consultation a year ago with did. That's a big deal when insurance doesn't cover this procedure. I look forward to referring more business.

My surgery was on January 17th, 2014. Today is April 1st, 2014, more than 2.5 months later and I am loving it. No issues so far. I had dry eyes for the first 4-6 weeks, but my eyes are producing tears almost normally now. I used to put eye drops in my eyes about every 30 minutes in the first month after the operation, but now I am only putting drops every 2-3 hours just to be safe than sorry. Overall, I'd give Joffe a 5 star.

I originally had Lasik and a PRK enhancement 7 years ago at a different place. My right eye vision deteriorated over time so I needed another enhancement. Since this is probably my last chance in that eye I visited several places and felt most comfortable with Joffe. The PRK recovery is much slower and I was a little worried that my vision was still blurry after a few days but the staff did an excellent job educating me and assuring me that I was healing normally. First day the PRK was moderately painful but nothing that couldn’t be handled. I would recommend Joffe to anyone looking for Lasik or PRK.

You need to keep track of your payments because they will tell you that you didn't pay and don't tell you about the additional fees they add to your monthly bills. (You don't get a monthly bill s, balance updates, or payment receipts so you don't know what specifically they are charging you for until there's a problem)❌❌❌❌❌ Conclusion: I would recommend LASIK or PRK in a hearbeat. I couldn't be happier! But I wouldn't recommend this company

The best place in Houston to do Lasik. I went to couple of different places for consultation and the moment you enter the office you can feel why this place is amazing. Great staff and amazing first day consultation. They will do all the exams even check the prescription to make sure everything is alright. Dr Su is the best and she would make you feel safe about the procedure. She is very nice and knowledgeable. Every eye is unique so they make sure they cover everything while doing the tests. Some people have really sensitive eyes and the procedure might hurt/irritate which happened to me. I think drops they put in to numb your eyes might not be as effective for some people. But the procedure was over in 10 minutes. Dr. Merkley was amazing during the surgery. Make sure you go to bed as soon as possible and sleep as much as you can. It will be hard to open your eyes and you will loose a lot of tears. Dont worry you will feel a lot after the nap. Make sure you use the medication drops. Also get a lot of lubrication drops recommended by them for as long as you can. It will help a lot. I will definitely recommend this to anyone.
