First off, I am a native ATLien who flew to Houston to see and be seen by Dr. Salem, so if that doesn’t communicate how highly I think of Dr. Salem and the team at Diagnostic Eye Center, not really sure what will. My experience from start to finish was a friendly team, surprisingly easy process, painless procedure, and my personal recovery meant that I was up and around that evening. They thought of *everything*, from triple-checking eye tests to surprise-and-delight packages with snacks for recovery. You only have one set of eyes. Trust them to Dr. Salem and the team at Diagnostic Eye Center. Being seen at Diagnostic Eye Center was worth its weight in gold (and a flight from Atlanta) for me.

All great! Glad I chose them for my eye care. Dr Bell is really great. The assistants are excellent. Front desk and back office are all nice and organized. They also worked super fast on having the medication “prior authorization” worked up with the insurance. They communicate all the process, giving updates over the phone. Superb!

I had LASIK surgery on one eye in 2012. It was quick, comfortable and amazing the difference the correction created and to this day my vision is as good as when I stepped off of the table the day of the surgery. I go annually for check ups and must say the office is Professional with minimal wait time, and the staff (front office and medical staff) are kind, compassionate and very friendly. You feel at ease during examinations because of this. Diagnosis is given respectfully and in concise, understandable communication so that you can confidently participate in the steps needed to heal.

Just had my annual check-up and bought a pair of glasses. Dr. Bell was rock-solid in effectively communicating her process, setting my expectations and providing a vision (pun intended) for longer term solutions that I might consider. Lindie was very patient with me with the selection of which eyeglasses fit me and helped to explain all that went into her opinion of the alternatives. I am a pretty picky person, and she never once tried to rush me. Both were excellent.

Great Saved I cannot recommend Dr. Andrew Salem enough. He has impeccable attention to detail and his bedside manner is bar none. As a surgeon myself, my eyesight is everything. I have worn contacts for the past 21 years and always worried about a corneal abrasion or resultant contact infection. I finally decided to go ahead with LASIK in November 2022 and it has been easily one of the best decisions I have made. I had this done on a Friday and was able to see 20/15 vision that evening. I operated the following Monday. I have had 0 dryness. I also had an astigmatism that is now gone and makes night time driving so much easier. 100 out of 100 times would do this again. No one better in the country than Dr. Andrew Salem!

He has a super great bedside manner and truly wants the best outcomes for his patients! I am extremely pleased with my vision results! Dr. Salem customized the lens selection especially for my best vision outcome. I am so grateful I came to Dr. Salem for my cararact surgery! He has gone above and beyond regarding all aspects of my care! I met Dr. Salem due to a referral from a friend. I had come in for a second opinion for a cataract surgery after a disappointing visit with a big name group in Houston TX wherein the ophthalmologist did not even discuss with me which options would be best for me individually and why. This first ophthalmologist just checked a box in a folder for multifocal lenses and sent me to his clerical assistant who handles that aspect. I saw Dr. Salem at Diagnostic Eye Center and was especially impressed with the depth of his education toward the pros and cons of different procedures for my particular eyesight. He didn’t try to sell me on the most expensive option, but Dr. Salem’s foremost goal was for me to receive the best outcome for my eyesight.

Hey guys I just recently had my lasik done here at Diagnostic Eye Center, and I'm really glad that I made the decision to do so. I've been wearing my glasses for the last 25 years now and I believe it is time to let it go. I was always afraid to pull the trigger on this procedure due to my lack of confidence in my eyes. Turned out my eyes was well within range with a prescription of -5 and an astigmatism. It also depends on other factors too but i cant remember. The consultation is free so don't worry if you are not sure to qualify for the procedure. Its better to find out than never. The staff are very knowledgeable and will take you step by step for what to expect during procedure. They will make sure you are an absolute good candidate before even considering you for the procedure to ensure it is safe. Safety is their number one priority! Dr.Parra was very nice and informative. I have full confidence in him in performing his duties. You will get some medication to take before the procedure to help you relax and stay calm. It makes you feel kinda drunk but it feels good...I like it. They will numb your eyes during the lasik process, you will not feel any pain but just a bit of pressure on the eyes. I promise it's not bad at all. You will see a bunch of cool lights and just focus on the green light and you be fine. The doctor will instructed you every step where to focus on so don't worry. Your eyes will be clamp open so you will not blink. Remember to just breathe lol. The whole procedure probably only took 15min tops and rest was just prepping. So if you are considering on getting it done don't hesitate to give Diagnostic Eye Center a call. They are very professional and It may change your life for ever. I was referred by my Optometrist to the Diagnostic Eye Center on Edloe St. to Dr. Andrew Salem for a eye consultation. The experience was not at all what I expected. The check in was quick and the wait was even shorter than expected. Liz did an excellent job in explaining all the eye testing and guiding me for each eye exam. Ryan did an awesome job in getting me ready to see Dr. Salem, talking through the various options that I have for surgery. Once Dr. Salem entered, he was the doctor everyone would love to have. The entire staff at this office was amazing. I was born with a congenital birth defect that caused severe myopia and high retinal detachment chances. To my surprise at my recent annual eye exam, I had begun to form cataracts. My local eye doctor in Beaumont referred me to Dr. Salem and his AMAZING team. I am 51 years old and have worn contacts since I was 5. During my first consultation with the Dr.Salem and his assistant, Steven, in Houston, I was so impressed with their level of care. The entire team genuinely cared about me and my husband who was with me at the appointment. Because of this amazing service, there was no doubt in my mind that I was where I needed to be. Steven kept me informed of everything, every step of the way, do we made the decision to "go for it: and have the procedure done. For anyone with high myopia, you will understand when I say that I went from a -13+ in one eye and a -11.75 in the other eye to absolutely positively nothing! No contacts, no glasses! I am 1 week post op in one eye and 2 days post op on the other and my vision is almost 20/20 and still getting better every day! I elected to do the Pan Optics lens and I regret nothing! If you are even remotely considering having this procedure done... THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO!!! Hands down! 100% LOVE LOVE Dr. Salem, Steven, and the staff!!

My father had such an amazing experience here. After being very hesitant to do any surgery I came in skeptical about how good this laser cataract surgery is, but even before the eye exam they sent me videos about the process and results of cataract eye surgery and had consultation with Dr. Salem himself. I’ve been a patient of Dr. Sanders since moving to Houston in 1997. When Dr. Weldon joined the practice, he became my optometrist, while Dr. Sanders remained my ophthalmologist. I see Dr. Weldon annually for diabetic refractory exams, along with other eye health needs. In 1996, Dr. Sanders performed cataract surgery on both eyes. Every encounter with both of these physicians, other medical staff and administrative personnel, along with the optical department, has always been a positive experience. I have a phobia with having anything done to my eyes. They have always addressed this with professionalism and understanding. In my opinion, this practice is the best in the delivery of eye care health in Houston. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

I have come to Dr. Lozano for two years now for routine eye exams. She and the front desk are so kind and very professional. This past Friday I received Lasik with Dr. Salem. Prior to the procedure there are many measures the team takes to determine if you qualify. They explain everything to you and make you feel safe. The procedure was quick and Dr. Salem talks you through the entire procedure. The staff is wonderful and is constantly checking in on you. This review for Diagnostic Eye Center ("DEC") is a little overdue, as I got my laser eye surgery done about 5 years ago, but I had such a positive experience that I thought it would be good to write one. First off, DEC is a great place to go to if you are looking for an eye doctor. Everyone is very friendly, the doctors take their time with you, and the overall experience is pleasant. Regarding my eye surgery: I did a ton of research and ended up deciding to do PRK at DEC. This was based on reviews and my previous experience with them. One thing that I really appreciated was how thorough their screening process was. It was clear they were not just trying to drive sales – they were doing what was best for the patient. I remember the day of the surgery they did one final screening check to make sure everything was good to go for me. It was very reassuring and appreciated. They also asked me what music I wanted to listen to during the surgery, which was nice of them. The follow up check ups went well and the recovery was quick. I had such a great experience I recommended DEC to a friend who got LASIK done at the same place and had a similar experience. I highly recommend it to everyone considering laser eye surgery or looking for an eye doctor.

He and and the Surgical Coordinator Steven Young explained everything to my wife and I, we had NO surprises with either the procedure or the cost. TLC is a great thing to give and to receive. Here, I was a recipient of just that. My wife had gone through the cataract removal and the implanting of née lenses in her eyes tge prior week. She began the process with very poor vision and now smiles as she tells you about her 30:20 vision, which is a first for her. So I knew I was walking into good hands for help. Dr Sanders and his team’s evaluation and consultation of my eyes for cataract removal left me feeling very pleased and assured I was in good hands.the examination had me move to several different stations during the examine checking pressure, eye health, vision and measurements. Ultimately, I had a great chat with Dr Sanders about my eye conditions. Unlike my wife who had perfect eyes for all that was to be done for her, my eyes presented a bit more of a challenge. I have severe astigmatism in both eyes with measurements showing significant difference between the two eyes. In addition, I have Keratoconus in both eyes, a condition that involves a thinning and hardening of the cornea while creating a very irregular eye surface shape - like small peaks below the pupil. Fortunately my case had stabilized but it nonetheless present the very unusual case for Dr Sanders. Well...the plan is in place and I will proceed with surgery in 48 hours. I’m excited about the prospect of ‘new eyes’ - likely better than I’ve had my entire life. I’ll update this review after both surgeries - without my Coke bottle glasses on. UPDATE - Post Surgery Results I’m very happy to report the best vision of my life. I’m now not dependent on corrective lenses - able to read and do all the things that make up a say. Outstanding results from an amazing team at the DEC. Many thanks to everyone for everything. UPDATE TO THE UPDATE I just completed my one year examination after cataract surgery and I’m pleased to say everything was great. The exam determined eyes were in good health and vision was 20:20. This is amazing. Most my life I had cornea issues and less than wonderful eyesight. Now with new lenses in my eyes and everything healed well, my eyesight is the best it’s been since I was 14. (Now 71). Dr Sanders and everyone in his team are amazing and I am very thankful I sought their help. If you need help with your vision, there nobody better to go to.

The Doctor was friendly, professional and did everything they should. The woman in the glasses department was unfriendly and when I was getting my glasses adjusted and I said they seem uneven on my face she said they look fine in a very rude way. When my mask wasn’t on they slipped right down my face. Luckily there are YouTube videos for adjusting glasses with a blow dryer. I went home and did it myself.

One of the smartest people I know used Diagnostic Eye Center for her cataract work and said I should , too. However I was afraid of eye surgery (no do-overs, right?]. I cannot say enough great things about Dr. Salem and his entire team at Diagnostic Eye Center. At just a little over 50 years old, not many of my friends have had cataract surgery yet. When I told friends I was having the surgery and I was going with a multi-focal lens replacement, several expressed concern over things they have ‘heard’. I am here to tell you this experience and my results are nothing less than outstanding! Dr. Salem found the right lenses for me and coupled that with using the laser assisted systems at each of the facilities he uses (more about why I used both facilities in a bit … but it’s all good). Eye #1 was the more complicated case and that procedure was done at the University of Houston Surgical Center. My experience at that center was also outstanding. The staff is nice and the facility is top-shelf great! Houston had a major winter storm the week I was to have my 2nd eye corrected, so some shuffling was necessary to get back on the schedule. No problem…Dr. Salem also works with Kirby Glenn Surgical Center and they are equally fantastic! The staff was professional and very nice. I would recommend either facility to anyone, along with Dr. Salem as the surgeon. Steven, Dr. Salem’s surgical coordinator, exemplifies caring. You have to know there is a special dynamic in the office that drives people like Steven to spend so much time explaining, assisting, following up, and genuinely ensuring Dr. Salem’s patients are doing well before and after surgery. That kind of care doesn’t happen by accident, I believe. Dr. Salem’s entire staff has the same level of professionalism and thoughtfulness and it is a testament to the great culture in the Center. My results: I see near, intermediate and far without glasses now!!!! I am so excited to report I now have 20/20 vision!! I know that everyone's case is different and not everyone can get to 20/20 but I do know this; Dr. Salem will do everything possible and he has the skill to get his patients there if it can be done. I’ve been coming here for 20+ years. I had my cataract surgery done by Dr. Sanders about 4 years ago and have no complaints. The staff has always been pleasant, but when checking out they don’t seem very accurate on what part of the bill I should pay vs what insurance will pay. I seem to end up with a credit most times, which they will either apply to my next visit or cut me a check, my choice. The last couple years I’ve been set up to see Dr. Lozano, and I like her, but it seems harder to get an appt with Dr. Sanders...maybe he wants a lighter schedule? Not sure, but as a longtime patient I’d like to see him once in a while.

I'm honestly so impressed. My bar for medical care is high - even more so for my son, who was seen at this office. The office staff was prompt, polite, patient and accommodating. There were no long waits and my son and I had a staff member with us during nearly all of our 3 hour appointment. Equally extraordinary was the physician. Dr Welton was knowledgeable, warm and professional. But what really blew me away was when I asked if my teen son, who has a chronic eye condition, would be able to drive. I could tell immediately that he wanted to be honest, accurate but also compassionate. It would be hard for a teenage boy to hear casually that he may never drive. Dr. Welton was anything but causal. He explained the nuance of my sons vision, and ultimately said it would be a judgement call - my sons and mine - to be made as my son gets older, and that as his physician, would be there to support and faciliate whatever decisions we make. I was referred to Diagnostic Eye Center by a friend Steven Young, and it was as great experience as he said it would be. The clinic is in a great location with easily accessible free parking. The staff was friendly and greeted me as soon as I entered. Once I completed the initial patient paperwork, I didn't have more than a few minutes wait before they began my initial diagnostic procedures. The tech handling this was friendly and thorough and did a great job of putting me at ease. Once she finished I met with Dr. Lozano and I could tell she had reviewed my information with the tech as she immediately asked me questions following up on information I had given the tech. She gave me a thorough analysis of the issues I have been having with my sight, and offered recommendations to resolve these issues. I told the receptionist that the appointment reminder said my mother, not me and I had gone through a lot, getting her up, getting her dressed and fed and making it there for the 9:15 am appointment. She checked the records and it showed that my mother’s appointment was scheduled for Oct and my appointment was then. I wanted to cry. The receptionist was so kind. She said, Well let’s do this: Since you already have her here, let’s switch appointments. We’ll see her on today and if it’s ok with you, you can come on her appointment date in October. I was thrilled! So we did just as she suggested. Now why is this such a big thing when it was simply a common sense move? Because… most people DO NOT USE common sense or extend the courtesy of understanding. At most doctor’s offices the response is: Well, we’re sorry but we can’t change the scheduling or you’ll just have to bring her back or reschedule your appointment, etc. Not so at Diagnostic! They made the shift to accommodate the need and all fell right in line. Again, thank you so much Dr. Sanders for training your team to continue in a Spirit of Excellence. I decided to do LASIK in October of 2017. Dr. Sanders and his staff did an amazing job. Within a day I was able to see better than 20/20 with no pain or irritation. After about a week I was completely healed. I was told after about a month the X-ray vision will kick in.... but I'm still waiting. Dr. Welton was very knowledgeable and made the recovery process and checkups a breeze. The staff at Diagnostic Eye was always friendly and I was able to be seen with minimal wait time. Diagnostic Eye Center actually saves my eyes twice. I started to wear glasses since I was a child with really high prescriptions, about -6 in one eye and -9 in another. In this May I got PRK perfomed by Dr. Salem, because I was training in combating sports and PRK was recommended as a safer choice. Right now I have a sharp sightness even better than 20/20. I no longer need eye contacts in gym, or have a hard time driving without a good pair of sunglasses. Another one is about an accident during my training. It was about 2 months after my PRK when I got an eye poke peeling off the surface of corneal. It was pretty bad then that my eye kept burning, swollen and watering, could only see fog. I went to see the doctor the next day, and Dr. Bell put some numb eyedrop and a bandage eye contact on the injuried eye. Then I felt much better and 3 days later it fully healed and all my eyesightness just came back as normal. I really appreciate the help of doctors in Diagnostic Eye Center and cannot thank enough. I highly recommend this place to anyone who is interested in getting rid of glasses, especially when you are engaged in contacting sports like boxing and grappling.

I am not even going to wait any more than a day to write a review. My overall experience was beyond anything I expected. For years I had been hesitant about getting the procedure done, but I was tired of my glasses fogging and drying contacts and I am glad I finally did. Every single staff member was great and I was able to relax and trust in them. With the Doc Sanders using top of the line equipment, the procedure was over in less than 10 minutes and I barely even felt a thing. Today I was seeing 20/15 and I don't even feel as if there was anything done to me. one of the best parts about Diagnostic Eye is that they are not like other lasik places and don't pump out patients like how the Hershey factory pumps out kisses. They give each patient the time of day. I will definitely be recommending all my friends and family here.

First visit. I'm sure subsequent visits won't be like this as this was obtaining baseline info. I had completed all history on line. Everyone in reception really nice. The process was a bit jerky moving from one room to next, computer glitch caused a couple of visits to one machine before it would work. Told to wait in hall but left standing there for 5 minutes so moved myself to a chair. Person helping me nice and knowledgeable but would put me in a room and leave and come back sometimes twice, perhaps as some tool was not present in that room. No fault there. The field of vision room is small and I caught the top of my foot under the leg of the machine getting up to leave the room. Overall experience good. Dr. Lozano seems to know her stuff and very personable, showed me my test results on iPad suggested my Glaucoma 20-year condition may no longer need drops so we are stopping for a month and I will return for pressure check on 4 Dec. My husband also had an appointment and felt good about the visit. Thanks to all.

Dr. Sanders took me from a -9.5/-10 glasses prescription to vision that is now better than 20/15. He is very patient, gives frequent opportunities to ask questions, and he tells you exactly what to expect, so none of the process is overwhelming. The procedure was completely painless: the most discomfort is when they take the tape off your eyelids, which is like having a band-aid removed. I was watching TV the same night without glasses. I came down to Houston from Seattle to visit family for the holidays. I had been researching LASIK for the past 3 years and had decided it was time. On a whim I called up Diagnostic Eye Center to see if they could get me in, and was surprised when they got me in right away, despite a busy end-of-the-year schedule. The consultation was amazing - they were so patient, and answered all my questions. Being able to meet with Dr. Sanders during the initial consultation also eased my anxiety. One of the things that impressed me was that they took measurements several times, and even had another ophthamologist in the office verify them. Living up to the adage of "measure twice, cut once"...but in this case it was like 3 or 4 times. When dealing with my eyesight, I was so happy that they were making so sure that it was correct! Dr. Sanders performed my procedure the very next day, and talked me through every part of it, easing any anxiety by explaining what was next. The procedure itself was very quick, and painless, and recovery was quick... About 4 hours later NE irritation was gone. I just finished my follow up and I will now be returning to Seattle with 20-15 vision! The facilities are very comfortable, and the staff are so friendly. I can't recommend Dr. Sanders and his team at Diagnostic Eye Center enough. If you've been thinking about it or if you've decided it's time to do it but dont know where to go give them a call - you won't regret it!

I had my LASIK done with Dr. Sanders. Everyone at the clinic is incredibly nice and knowledgeable. I scheduled my first consultation on a Thursday. During this consultation my eyes were examined, prescription checked, and questions answered. I was also given a tour of the facility and laser that they use. After the consultation I was told that I was a perfect candidate for the procedure. I decided to sleep on the decision to have the procedure because I was very nervous and wanted to try out other doctors. After reading other reviews and looking at prices (from reviews) online, I decided Monday morning that I wanted to go ahead with Dr. Sanders. I called Monday morning, had my second consultation that day, and the surgery that night! Everyone was incredibly nice and calming. They checked and rechecked all of my numbers before the surgery just to make sure everything was perfect (which calmed me down alot). Dr. Sanders told me everything that was happening and comforted me throughout the entire procedure (which was about 7 minutes long altogether). I'm one day out and I can see 20/15 and will only improve from here. I have no red spots on my eyes, no discomfort, no halos, no fog, just great vision! It's incredible! I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Sanders and his staff. My only regret is that I didn't do it earlier!

Dr. Sanders and his team provided me with a wonderful experience for a procedure that I was slightly nervous over. Prior to the treatment, I was reconfirmed as a candidate and both Dr. Sanders and Dr. Lozano discussed what to expect. I arrived to a relaxation room and was asked what music I enjoyed. In the surgical room, they actually played my choice of music during the procedure to calm any residual nerves. Dr. Sanders explained every movement he and his team would make, what the laser would do, what I would feel, and reconfirmed all information prior to any operation. I couldn't ask for a higher level of care! The procedure was very quick (10 mins start to finish) and I was seeing 20/20 immediately. After my post procedure evaluation, I was moved over to the relaxation room again. There, Ryan thoroughly explained all the medicated drops required and their frequency. He took the time to answer all of my questions and was very patient. He also provided me with the protective goggles to wear for the first 5 hours and nightly for a week. The next 4-5 hours were a bit uncomfortable and blurry as I rested while wearing the provided dark goggles. After that period, Iight wasn't as bothersome and my watery eyes subsided a bit. The real magic happened the next morning. I woke up a bit dry eyed but after a few medicated drops, I was back to seeing clearly! The first 5 days require a few drops to ensure healing and to reduce dry eye. It really hit me that I didn't need glasses at the end of week 1. I was watching TV and used to fumble for my glasses to read the TV guide in the middle of the night. I was pleasantly surprised to 1.) not find my glasses on the night stand (old habit) and 2.) that I was able to read through the channels with clarity. Disclaimer: there are "halos" around bright lights initially but I have noticed as the month progressed that the "halo" is much less noticeable. Also, you are not allowed to rub your eyes (this was very very hard for me) nor blink hard (squeeze your eye lid tight) for up to a month for a risk of displacing the flap created from the procedure. Everything was explained to me by the doctors. My experience with Dr. Sanders and his team was exceptional. I trust my eyes to Diagnostic Eye Center. Thank you Dr. Sanders, Dr. Lozano, Ryan, and Monica for my great experience!

I have been wearing contacts for 8 years and always intended to have Lasik surgery, yet never felt enough confidence in the doctors to undergo the surgery. I first visited Dr. Salem in January for an eye infection and the truly cared about getting me better. I was leaving for Europe in 2 days and he immediately rushed me in to start treatment. He prescribed the medicine and checked on me again before I departed. While in Europe, he kept in touch through his cell phone just to ensure my eye was healing properly. This great experience provided me the confidence to explore Lasik with Dr. Salem and his team. They coached me through the entire process and the surgery went perfect. The evening after the surgery, Dr. Salem was available for me to call him with any questions or concerns I had. He ensured me that everything I was experiencing was completely normal. It might seem unbelievable that a doctor's office could have 50+ reviews and all of them are over 5 stars, but that's just the kind of operation Dr. Sanders has established. NOTE: Let me assure you that I offer this recommendation without ANY kind of compensation from DEC. I'm just a happy customer. I had done quite a bit of research on Lasik providers in Houston over the last three years preparing myself and even went in for a few initial consultations. Everywhere I felt like I was getting a rose-colored sales pitch, except for at DEC. The good and the bad were all explained to me, including success rates and all known possible side effects. Peter was assigned to my case and I could go to him with all of my questions related to anything from the surgery to payment options. What made the experience even better is that Dr. Sanders and his staff are incredibly personable and took the time to test and retest my eyes to make sure that my vision was stable, and that Lasik truly was the best option for me. I only had my surgery last Friday, but can already tell you that I had the same outstanding results that others have mentioned here (20/15). Yes, the surgery isn't 100% comfortable, and the first 24 hours of recovery can be a bit miserable, but I felt fully prepared to deal with that with the coaching and information provided to me. The eye drop regime and prescribed medication has made recovery tolerable. Every day my eyes feel better and better, and already a lot more comfortable than wearing contacts. Without reservation, I would recommend DEC for Lasik, and I've got to assume that they are really good at all of the other eyecare stuff, too.

It has now been 2 weeks since I had Lasik done from Diagnostic Eye Center. What else can I add which the other reviews have not covered? I agree that the overall experience from start to finish was outstanding. Each and every member of the staff was very polite, accommodating and professional. Kudo's to Elizabeth who did a fantastic job with prepping the consultation with the eye tests etc and also to Peter who was very friendly to deal with. This was very appreciated on the day of surgery as you do want to feel your in good hands. Price-wise I got a fabulous deal based on a referral but even at full price its probably worth every penny. The one thing I noticed after surgery is a certain halo effect around bright lights at night especially car headlights. I am told this is due to dry eyes and will get better with time. To summarize I would highly recommend this Houston Lasik office!!!

Between a friend's referal and the good reviews about Diagnostic Eye Center, I had high expectations of the place and it didn't disappoint! Starting with the tests, they took 2 hrs and were very thorough. Dr. Lozano handled that portion and was very friendly and having gone through the procedure herself was very informative. Dr. Salem performed the procedure and made sure to walk me through every step of it. He is very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. For years I thought about having LASIK performed, but as a medical provider, I never wanted to take off time to go through the process. Month after month and year after year, I continued to buy contacts, purchase new lenses and frames, but this year when my yearly eye appointment was approaching, I decided to visit Diagnostic Eye Center after hearing high recommendations. I could not have been happier! My standards are set high for consultations and medical appointments, and I was extremely impressed. Everyone starting from the parking lot (I was greeted by a warm hello from an employee!) to the ophthalmologist was full of positive energy, compassion, patience, and knowledge. I was scheduled for a LASIK consultation, and soon after I signed in, my appointment moved fluidly from eye prescription/corneal measurements, to meeting with Dr. Lozano and Dr. Sanders. I felt extremely comfortable and confident in their knowledge and experience. So, after 17 years of correcting my vision, I was scheduled for LASIK the following week! Surgery day came around, I checked in around 2:00 in the afternoon, the surgery was completed, and I was walking out of the door by 3:30 (with 20/20 vision!) Dr. Sanders made the environment extremely comfortable and talked me through every step. I had no pain with the operation, only expected irritation once the eye drops wore off, and by 6 PM that evening; I was back to normal, except with 20/15 vision! It has been 6 weeks since my LASIK surgery, I have 20/15 vision, and my only complaint is that I wish I had visited Diagnostic Eye Center sooner for LASIK. In the upcoming years, if ever I have a separate ophthalmologic issue, I will be visiting Dr. Sanders and Dr. Salem! Highly recommend!

I would highly recommend Diagnostic Eye Center to anyone and everyone. I've visited the clinic for a routine eye exam and LASIK surgery. All of my experiences have been 10/10. The staff is friendly. The doctors are intelligent and they know what they're talking about. The front desk staff is quick and orderly. If you're considering LASIK surgery, I would highly recommend this place. They're trustworthy, and I was thoroughly impressed by the overall process. Each appointment (consultation, follow-ups, etc) moved swiftly and the doctors ensure all your questions are answered. On the day of the procedure, the LASIK machinery was top notch, and the doctor took extra care to ensure I was relaxed. It's a bit unnerving to have a laser cut into your eyeballs but the doctor talks you through everything. The actual procedure lasts only 30 seconds. Overall - the quality of service is excellent. I got LASIK yesterday with Dr. Sanders after my consultation Monday. You can expect about 1&1/2 hour consultation. For my consultation, surgery and follow up (today), I was attended to right away and didn't have to wait. The doctor and staff are very nice, patient and willing to answer any questions. As for my procedure, I was in and out in an hour. The pressure on my eyes while the laser was cutting the flaps was probably the worst part, if there is a worst part. Immediately after I took the 4-hour nap. I had some stinging in my eyes but went away by later that afternoon. Today I can see extremely well (some haze and glare, not bothersome, which is expected to go away within the day to a week) at better than 20/15. No pain or stinging at all. It's amazing to be able to see naturally and I would recommend this place to everyone interested in LASIK. The price is high for each eye but you can expect to pay for a quality procedure, and to me, going to the best-rated surgeon is worth the price.

I cannot recommend these guys enough!!! I've been working with two of the most awesome doctors on the planet. I have an advanced case of Keratoconus and needed a transplant. I was really uncomfortable with the doctor that was scheduled to do it and decided to seek a second opinion... I saw the reviews for Diagnostic Eye Center and knew they HAD to be doing something right for all these people to love them. Boy am I glad a switched! Dr Salem was more than happy to preform my surgery. I was like 20/400 in my left eye before the surgery and had been like this for almost 6 years, Dr. Salem changed my life in a matter of weeks. Him and his team are amazing. He will be the surgeon on my right- I REFUSE to go to anyone else. I was also told I couldn't be fit with contacts anymore due to the steepness of my cornea, but Dr Welton was able to fit me with comfort and ease. My new contact for my right eye took just a few days to get in and will update my post about that when I get to wear it. I was 20/100-20/300 in my right eye and he said I'd be around 20/30 after the contact came in. It has been YEARS since I could see like this. I was able to meet and speak briefly with Dr. Lozano and Dr Sanders who were both very friendly. The staff here really cares about their patients- the reception team and technicians are always friendly. I never leave here without a smile. Save money by cutting out the middle doctors and come here first! You will NOT regret it. (: UPDATE 03/13/17 I saw Dr Welton today. My contact first beautifully and I'm seeing 20/30 in both my eyes. These guys have really made the whole process a dream. Never in a million years did I think I'd be able to see again.. Coming to diagnostic eye center will be the absolute best investment for your vision regardless if you just need glasses, or if you have cataracts, keratoconus, or any other eye disease. They will go out of their way to help YOU see again.

I had LASIK done by Dr. Sanders a month ago (7/20). After a month, I could not be happier with this decision. If you're thinking about having this done, I would highly recommend that you go to Diagnostic Eye Center to have a consultation. Everyone there is extremely nice, and they made me feel comfortable from the very beginning. My contact prescription was -6.5 in both eyes before the surgery. The surgery was literally pain free, and I was out of there in about 45 minutes. I had it done in the afternoon, and then I went home and took about a 4 hour nap. That night I was able to watch TV, and see pretty good with a little blurriness. The next day I had very little blurriness, and was able to read 20/20 at the checkup. At my one-week checkup, I read 20/15. Right now I have slight dryness in the morning, but other than that, my eyes feel amazing. I love my new eyes, and I would highly recommend getting LASIK done at Diagnostic Eye Center.

I recently graduated from medical school and I will be starting my residency this July. I wanted to get LASIK done before beginning work and avoid having to deal with glasses and contacts while on night shifts and on call. I'd been thinking about getting lasik for years but always had doubts over bad reviews I've read and people who've I've known had the procedure done. Being that this is my eyes were talking about, I made sure I found a place where I felt very comfortable before getting anything done. So I went for my first evaluation with Dr. Lozano and got great feedback from it but still wasn't too sure about it. They don't rush you about your decision to get the procedure done so that kept me in a calm state. After a few years I finally went back and got another evaluation and was told I'd be the perfect candidate for lasik. Between Dr. Lozanos opinion and them calling in Dr. Sanders who'd be doing the surgery, I was even more at peace that I'd be in good hands. On the day of the surgery you get one extra checkup, before the procedure is done. Minutes before your in a quiet room to relax, your loved ones can watch from a see thru window. Through the whole procedure Dr. Sanders explains step by step what's going to happen and keeps you in a relaxed state. Oh and they put whichever music you want to listen to during the procedure. I am now done with my after procedure care, did my last checkup and beyond happy with my results. Dr. Lozano had me read lines for 20/20, 20/15, then just for fun put 20/10 and to my surprise I could read those as well. So as a happy customer I highly recommend Diagnostic Eye center. The whole staff and the doctors are amazing, I thank them for the great service and giving me my vision back.

I had my surgery done last Friday after 8 years of contemplating whether I should do it or not & all I can wonder is WHY did I wait so long!! I shopped around for about a month before booking my lasik appt and I decided to go with Dr. Sanders because his staff made me feel so comfortable, they took the time to explain everything to me and answered all the questions I had. The actual procedure was painless and took what seemed like only 3 minutes or so. When I got home- I'll be honest, I did have some discomfort- I think it was mostly anxiety because I couldn't open my eyes, no matter how hard I tried, just couldn't. Took another Valium (they prescribe you 3, I took 1 before the procedure) and that put me back to sleep, when I woke up a couple hours later- opened my eyes and COULD SEE!!! It was amazing. I am a 52 years old, female. I had my Monovision Lasik surgery on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Diagnostics Eye Center in the care of Dr. Sanders. All I can say is that I feel amazing! The feeling is awesome! I am so happy! Right after the procedure I was able to see 20/20 and hooray…No more progressive glasses, no more reading glasses. Prior to seeing Dr. Sanders, I had visited two other Lasik Surgery Centers but first impression with Dr. Sanders on Wednesday, February 27, 2012 was so right, from the moment he walks into the examining room, I know right away that I am at the right place and in good hands, he was very kind, gentle, and professional, he walked me through the treatment and procedure process step-by-step. Best Eye Center ever !!! So I had been contemplating LASIK for some time and drove almost 2 hours from home to check out a few centers and see what they say . First one said I was a great candidate for Lasik within 30 minutes of being there . Then I go to DIAGNOSTIC EYE CENTER. I was seen by Dr.Lozano and she did some test and showed me where my cornea was too thin and her conclusion was PRK would be better for me as LASIK could be more risky. She said "If you were my sister, I would tell you heck no dont do LASIK" THESE PROFESSIONALS CARE!!! My surgery was performed by Dr.Sanders and although PRKs recovery is alot more lengthy and difficult thank Lasik , he has blessed hands . I didn't feel nearly as bad as I read I would. If you want a quick in and out you go, then go somewhere else . But if you want a professional group of people that care and take pride in their work who will be with you every step of the way (including weekends if needed) then this is the place for you . Just got back from my 10 day follow up and everything checked out perfect !!!

Background: 24 years old, very high myopia (-9.5 range) Consultation: I didn't believe Lasik could fix my terrible myopia, but I still I booked a consultation because it's FREE. The weekend before my consultation, I was pleasantly surprised by a package full of information about Lasik, alternative procedures, and Dr. Sanders' qualifications. The informational package answered all of my questions about the procedure except for the big question that's addressed at the consultation: Can my terrible myopia be fixed? The actual consultation consisted of the usual tests that you undergo when you go to the optometrist except for that awful machine that shoots air to your eyes (thank goodness), and some other fancy tests to check the topography of your eyeballs, the thickness of your corneas, etc.. After reviewing all of the information from the tests, Dr. Sanders let me know that I was a candidate for Lasik so I booked the surgery for the following week. Procedure: You take valium half an hour before the procedure so that you don't freak out about lasers on your eyeballs (yay). Some more tests are done on your eyes right before the procedure to make sure you're still good to go and then they put a lot of numbing drops on your eyeballs so that you don't feel the lasers doing their thing. One cool thing is that there is a viewing area in the laser room so that the kind soul that volunteers to give you a ride to and from the surgery is allowed to watch the whole procedure. Right before the procedure, they offer you a soft blanket (it's chilly in there) and something to hold (I think it was a teddy bear, but I didn't need it because the valium actually worked haha). Dr. Sanders talks you through the procedure so that there are no surprises. The thing that holds your eyelids open tickles, and you feel some pressure from the machine that makes the corneal flap, but there is NO PAIN during the procedure. The procedure only takes a couple of minutes and then you are done! After Procedure: Everything was hazy, but I could see WAY better as soon as I stood up from the operating table. I could actually make out the faces of the people around me and walk around without needing a lot of guidance. You are given prescription eye drops that help your corneas heal and some goggles to wear so that you don't rub your eyes and dislodge your corneal flaps. My eyes started burning and tearing on the way home, so I took another valium and went straight to bed. Four hours later, I woke up with almost perfect vision and zero discomfort. The next day, I went for a follow-up visit and learned that I now have 20/20 vision. It has been six days now and my vision has been getting less and less hazy every day, but I can see! It's like magic, and I'm sure my friends are probably tired of me telling them about all the things that I can see now. My quality of life has improved a LOT. Thank you Dr. Sanders and Peter! Y'all are awesome.

Long overdue of a review but here goes. I will try to keep it short, but explain why their service was great. Read this if you are considering Diagnostic Eye Center. I was on vacation in March 2015 for a week and decided I needed to see which kind of eye doctor I would go to. I honestly thought finding a good genuine 'medical' type of place was unrealistic. I used Google Reviews to find this place and I live 30 minutes east of Diagnostic, so its almost absurd to even consider them, but it was well worth it. I just needed a basic exam since my last one was around 2006, since I hated the last experience at some other place. Simply put, best case scenario is I get Lasik, worse case is I don't, but I get my general exam. I had nothing to lose. I feel guilty for not remembering anyone names but they are all class A individuals. The lady(s) at the desk greeted me when I came in, answering the simplest of questions I had about my insurance. The guy that called me in checked a lot of different things and showed interest in what he does. The doctor helped me after, and even took the time to double check if the results matched her own findings. Explained to me that I was a good candidate for Lasik based on my eyes health but my vision difference would be minor compared to someone who can barely even see. They explained all of the different financing and payment options they have if I do make the choice. Oh yeah, plus that dude that assisted me with my glasses really knows his stuff. Didn't get Lasik but I know I will in the future. I am actually happy that they took the time to explain the pros and cons of my personal situation. Diagnostic Eye Center really showed great service and care. If you are due for even your annual checkup, you owe it to yourself to visit this place.

Dr. Sanders performed a very small eye surgery for me to remove a growth on my eyelid that concerned my dermatologist. After reaching my self-decided 10 year mark, I decided it was time to invest in LASIK eye surgery and knew without a doubt I wanted to use DEC. Dr. Sanders (everyone for that matter) was incredibly thorough and made me feel completely confident in the honest results he expected for me. He explained that I was not likely to have any improvement on my night vision blurriness because it was a matter unrelated to the LASIK procedure. The procedure was fast, efficient, and as low anxiety-inducing as such a procedure can be... I am pretty sure the little stuffed dog they provided made all the difference! Recovery was exactly as they explained it would be and I felt very well prepared for the 24 hours following the procedure. I had a few friends comment that the goggles given to me after my procedure made them jealous they had received LASIK elsewhere. It is about 2 months later and I can see just past 20/15, a correction well beyond my expectations. One of the best medical decisions I've ever made!

I had been thinking about LASIK for at least 15 years but have always been very skeptical about the successful rate, the technology and the risks so I never did it. 2 weeks ago, I met my cousin and he told me he did it at the Diagnostic Eye Center and he could see well and how easy the procedure was. He highly recommended me to do it. After some research, I found the technology has been improving so much in the last 15 years. There a pre-screening exam to make sure you are a good candidate for Lasik so to reduce the risks. With my wife pushing, I went ahead and pay Doctor Sanders at the Diagnostic Eye Center a visit. He and his staff are super nice. I have to be honest that Doctor Sanders is one of the friendliest doctors I have ever seen. He is very good too. He takes the time to answer my questions and gave me his honest evaluation of my situation and if I am a good candidate for Lasik or not. As he does the surgery for me, he did a running commentary so I know what is going on and what to expect in each step along the way. I appreciated that very much. Also before executing the Lasik, I meant turning the laser beam on to actually burn my tissues, there was a check between Peter (his staff member) and Doctor Sanders to make sure the data loaded in the Lasik machine is for me specifically and for my right or left eye. That cross-check between the 2 of them made me feel better since that process reduces mistakes. We are only human!!! And human makes mistakes!!! Having the process in place to double check each other is great. As a patient, I very much appreciate that process. That gives me piece of mind knowing that the Diagnostic Eye Center has measures to reduce human errors. Peter, who assisted me most of the visits have been very kind and very friendly as well. Every visit, the wait was not long at all. Over all, I am very pleased with the experience I have with the Diagnostic Eye Center. My vision is 20/15. This is first day with the new vision (Did it yesterday late afternoon). It is still a little blurry but Doctor Sanders said it would be clear by the end of the day. There are down sides too. I used to be able to see things about a foot away from my eyes. That is no longer the case. I need reading glasses. Doctor Sanders also gave me a complementary pair. That was kind of him. But not being able to see the key board or my cell phone...unless you either put them far away or put on reading glasses is rather annoying. I am not sure I will get used to with this or not but first day, it does bother me a lot. However, today, at noon time, I went outside for food. I kid you not, the world is so beautiful!!! So colorful!!! The skies, the trees, the people…I just simply very glad that I listened to my wife and did it. I highly recommend Doctor Sanders (and Peter) at the Diagnostic Eye Center. As a physician myself I am very particular on who I see for my medical care. Dr. Sanders and Dr. Salem came highly recommended by multiple friends of mine who had LASIK procedures done by them. They were so highly recommended I came from New Orleans (where I currently live) to Houston to have the procedure done by Dr. Sanders. Dr. Sanders performed my advance Surface Ablation (ASA)/PRK procedure and he far exceeded my expectations. What impressed me the most was his honesty. I found out after initial examination that my cornea was too thin to qualify for LASIK. Dr. Sanders and Dr. Salem took the time to explain me the risks of having it with a thin cornea and why ASA/PRK would be a better and safer procedure for me. I really respected the fact they took the time to explain me why. Immediately after my PRK procedure I was already seeing 20/20 with no fluctuations in vision. I also had little / no pain after the procedure (that was the thing I was most worried about). The main reason why is the machine they use for the procedure: the Allegretto wavelight. Only three practices in Houston have this technology and they are one of them. It decreases a lot of the side effects that commonly occur with the procedure. Dr. Sanders and Dr. Salem gave me their cell phone numbers and followed up with me each day after the procedure to see how I was doing. You can't ask for better care from a physician than that. I would highly recommend anyone interested in LASIK or PRK to see Dr. Sanders or Dr. Salem. They will take great care of you and you will really enjoy your Results after the procedure.

Dr. Welton has repeatedly written perfect contact lenses prescriptions to give me the best possible vision for my eyes. After my son was born I saw Dr. Welton and mentioned some changes in my eyes. After dilating my eyes he suspected a detached retina and scheduled an appointment with a specialist immediately. It was in fact a detached retina that required surgery. My most recent visit was due to some discomfort in my left eye. I suspected dry eyes and over the counter drops weren’t working. Dr. Welton was able to see me right away with some rearranging of schedules. Dr. Welton found an ulcer on my cornea. I am continually thankful and grateful. I have always had a great experience here and feel as though my eyes are in the best hands!

PLEASE don't skip your routine eye exams! Dr. Aric Welton and his staff at Diagnostic Eye Center helped SAVE MY LIFE by helping to diagnose a brain tumor. I had suffered a year and a half with severe headaches, seeing many doctors and prescribed numerous pain meds, being diagnosed with migraines caused by stress until it was determined I had Chiari I Malformation. I chose to hold off on craniotomy and turned to acupuncture for some relief. In May 2014 I went to see Dr. Welton for a routine eye exam following LASIK I had done a few years prior (done by Dr. Sanders, and as others have said here - he is also AWESOME). During the exam Dr. Welton noticed my left optic nerve was swollen. In his usual kind and caring manner he thoroughly explained the seriousness of the matter and planned to contact my neurologist to share a full report. He wasted no time in communicating with my neurologist, even looking up the contact info himself as the neurologist was out-of-state. Then I found myself headed for a stat CT, sent to the ER for confirmatory MRI, and then admitted to the ICU until I was ready for the 10 hour surgery two days later. Today I am 2 years tumor free living a new, amazing life with no headaches! The Chiari is also gone as the tumor was contributing to this condition. I am so thankful for Dr. Welton and his team for giving my life back. I have never written a Google Review, but I felt highly obliged to be an advocate for Dr. Aric Welton, Dr. Sanders, and Diagnostic Eye Center for their quality of care and the kindness in which they convey it.

I had my lasik done w Dr Sanders last Friday and then came back to follow up the next day which is Satuday. I had consultation with thre other place (one of it is Lasik Plus: DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME TO GO THERE) before i decided who to go with dr SAnder. His careness and gentle will make you feel so much confortable. Other staffs are so nice and friendly, esp Marcus. They use the latest machine but give you very resonable price. You even get a goody bag with antibiotic, steroid,artificial tears,goggle to wear at night and some other stuffs too.... The procedure itself maybe about 15 mins performs in a room ahve big window glass so your family/friend can watch what going on with your eyes on the monitor on the wall. My friend recorded it and it very cool for me to see afterward how they opened up the flap on my eye and use the laser burn.... it will be uncomfortable when they tape your eye lid during procedure but it gone by very fast. When you can see so clear , everything worth the trafe off.. GO WITH DR SANDER, YOU CAN'T GO WRONG WITH HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My prescription pre-LASIK was in the -4.25/-4.75 range between my two eyes. Dr. McMillen performed my consultation and was a big help in my decision to have the procedure done. The actual LASIK procedure was painless! Dr. Sanders did a great job making sure I was comfortable and calm. I was in and out of the office within an hour, and could immediately see. Within the "4-hr window" following surgery, I experienced mild burning and discomfort, but no pain. After those 4 hrs., I could see perfectly and I now have 20/15 vision! Dr. Welton performed all of my post-op. exams, and, having seen all three of the Doctors at Diagnostic Eye Center, I can confidently say that they are all very knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, and competent! I love Diagnostic Eye Center!! They really care about your time, and get you in and out of there. When I first went into my consultation, Peter was very helpful with me, checking my eyes and whatnot. Then I met with Dr. McMillen and she told me the great news: I was a great candidate for LASIK!!! Got my LASIK yesterday, when I got in, Peter brought me to the second floor to their LASIK waiting room. Then mark brought me into a room to check my vision again real quick. I think this was to make sure everything was accurate. Then they brought me into this dim lighted room with calm music. Mark put some drops in my eyes, and let me chill out. Then he came back in and put more drops in and took me to the LASIK room. They put more drops in my eyes, asked if I felt the last drops, told them no, and Dr. Sanders said I was good to go. They put this thing on my eye to prevent me from blinking and he kept telling me to stare at the green light and to keep my eyes open and then bam he was done with the first eye and then same thing on the left eye. Immediately after they checked my vision and they said it was looking really good. I went back to the quiet room where mark put more drops in and told me to keep my eyes closed for 10 min and then they gave me goggles. When I got home, there was some stinging in my left eye, so I added a comfort drop in it. Took another Valium and went to sleep. Woke up a little over 4 hours, ate, and went back to sleep until morning. Went to my check up and Dr. McMillen said I had 20/20 vision and everything was looking normal! I was able to go on with my day and I continued to put retain in my eyes every hour. No discomfort whatsoever!!! This was seriously the best thing I've ever done for myself! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🎉🎉😎😍 If you're thinking about getting LASIK, tell them Kristine Hsi referred you! You will not regret it!

I've always wanted Lasik, since 1989. I just learned of mono vision last year with my contacts. where i have a lens for distant and one for close up to read. I have two neices who has the procedure, different doctors, both under 30. I loved the after effect the one Dr. Sanders preformed. She could see. I went to Dr. Sanders on 4th of April 2013. Had my procedure done on 4/12/2013, around 4:45pm. I could see 20/20 right after the surgery. Dr, Sanders is super, talks to you while he is preforming the surgery. Marcus is so nice. I called him everyday that week. Today is number 3, and I ve had the mono Lasik surgery. NO more reading glasses., i had about 6 pairs. Thank you Dr. Sanders and staff. Anyone wants lasik over 45, get the mono Lasik.

I had my LASIK on 11/20/2015. For years I've contemplated on getting LASIK on both of my eyes. I'm nearsightedness and cannot see things far away. I've wore glasses since elementary school. I was always hesitant on getting LASIK because I was afraid I could go blind if anything happened. However, with the advancement of LASIK technology in recent years, I was more assured. Dr. Marc Sanders and his team made sure I was the right candidate for it. The procedure itself was quick and less than 10 minutes. There was no pain during the procedure. My eyes did sting afterward for 4 hours and eventually goes away. The next morning I went back for a Post-Op and already have 20/20 vision. This is one the best decision and investment I've done. It's worth it.

I got LASIK and I’m super happy!! My optometrist Recommended Opthamologist Dr. Andrew Salem cuz patient outcome has been great for lasik and PRC and ICL with Dr. Salem. I’m very glad I chose Diagnostic Eye Center & River Oaks Lasik. Dr. Stephanie Lozano did a thorough work up and diagnostic tests. Christina was sweet and helped with diagnostic assessments too. Marcus took care of my pre-op procedures and meds. Pre-op made me calm, relaxed and comfortable. Good to wear cotton clothing to keep you warm in the chilly surgery suite. Dr. Salem talked through the entire procedure to keep me calm and explain every step of the way!! I loved it!! I got to choose my Pandora station during procedure too. I’m 5 days post procedure and super happy. I could see right away with only 6 hours of discomfort, alleviated with drops and Advil. By day 2, I was seeing clearly. My life is changed! Thank you, Dr. Salem for your care ! After a few days of resting and limited outdoor exposure, I enjoyed the BEACH wearing regular sunglasses, and also sat pool side
