Dr. Boss did an extraordinary job in surgically repairing a severe retinal tear in my right eye. Surgery is never fun but with it my vision was saved and restored and for this I am very grateful. The staff in the office are professional, helpful and kind too.

I was sent to Dr. Boss in an emergency situation with a nearly detached retina. He and his staff stayed until 6:30 pm to repair it! He is kind, compassionate, patient, and eased my fears! I’ve never felt rushed and he’s a good listener! He also has surgically removed floaters from my eyes. It is evident patient care is his first priority!

Dr. Boss and his team are my hero’s! I suddenly had double vision in my left eye. I was able to get an appointment ASAP. He found a macular whole, causing the double vision. Dr Boss did surgery, I did everything he asked of me. The outcome, no more double vision in my left eye, about a month after surgery and no floaters. Dr Boss and team answered all of my questions before and after surgery. While recovering I called his office and Dr Boss returned my call himself same day! I’m very greatful to himand his team for restoring my vision!

Dr Boss did an intraocular exchange in my right eye. I was very concerned about this surgery as my right eye is my best eye. I was told six months ago that I would have to go to Ann Arbor for this surgery. When my eye Dr told me about Dr Boss and I met him I was so excited about not having to go to Ann Arbor. Dr Boss just made me confident everything would be ok. And thankfully it was a very good experience and I highly recommend Dr Boss!

Dr Boss is simply amazing. Our 6 year old son suffered a detached retina as the result of an injury that had occurred weeks prior. There are few pediatric retina specialists in the state, but Dr Boss is one of them, and he was able to see our son the next day and operate a couple days later. We have had a dozen appointments with Dr Boss over the last year and the experiences have all been amazing. He takes the time to talk to our son and interact with him in a very calming and reassuring manner. He was honest with us about prognosis and has celebrated the tremendous result with us . We can't thank him enough for the care he has provided and vision that he has restored!

Dr. Joseph Boss gave me the gift of eyesight. I am a 28 year old male and I was fixing my car when a piece of metal went into my eye (even though I was wearing safety glasses). The metal piece was removed in an emergency surgery done by my eye doctor in Ludington. Dr. Boss made time in his busy schedule to see me a few days after the accident. He used all the highly specialized machines in his office to look at the injured eye. Dr. Boss was able to see that my retina was intact. This, of course, was great to hear and crucial to restoring eyesight in my right eye. Dr. Boss said the sooner he could get into my eye and repair it, the better. AGAIN, he made time for me RIGHT AWAY and scheduled me for surgery the NEXT DAY! I have been with Dr. Boss for four months now. Dr. Boss has always been honest with me. He told me what he KNEW he could do to repair my eye and he told me that he was unsure of something until he actually got into surgery and saw the actual condition of my eye. Dr. Boss cleaned out the fluid/blood in my eye, laser repaired two spots in my retina, repaired the iris (a couple stitches) and replaced my lens. He was unsure, until the surgery, if he could replace my lens. The good news is that he WAS ABLE TO replace my lens during surgery. After surgery, Dr. Boss explained very thoroughly what he did and that the surgery went very well. Of course I was glad to hear that! Dr. Boss explained that the chances of sight for my right eye were good because the retina was intact and he was able to sew a new lens in. This is a miracle! Dr. Boss is obviously a very skilled doctor and has rebuilt my right eye. He has been there for me every second. He has explained things to me clearly. He was always positive as he told me the situation with my eye and gave me hope for eyesight again. Dr. Boss kept me going through the healing process. Like I mentioned, I have been with Dr. Boss 4 months, as my eye has needed time to heal gradually. I NOW DO have partial sight out of that eye. With my good eye working with the injured eye, I can see fairly well. I am driving, and back to work and functioning “normally”. I still have 3 stitches left in my cornea and when those are removed and a contact is placed over the eye, I hopefully will see even better. Dr. Boss is a skilled doctor and also a great guy. He has a friendly, outgoing personality and I feel like he is a friend. I DO KNOW that he has done everything he possibly can for me. Eyesight is priceless, so I can never “repay him”. He rebuilt my eye. He can work miracles. Obviously, I would recommend him to anyone with serious eye problems. Dr. Joseph Boss is absolutely THE BEST!!!

I was referred to Dr. Boss a year ago after my eye doctor discovered I had a detached retina. This appt., with my eye doctor, came approximately 6 weeks after a different eye dr. had seemingly missed what was happening in my eye. I was immediately referred to Dr. Boss in Grand Rapids. Because of the length of time that I had been dealing with issues with the eye, scar tissue had already formed and a good outcome was not guaranteed. I had surgery a few days later. Fast forward to an appointment yesterday. My sight, with glasses now, is better than a high percentage of people who have had the damage I had. Dr. Boss is just as all others have written. Very kind, considerate and never talks down to you. He is the best!!! I am thankful to God for sending me to Dr. Boss and for the results I achieved through Dr. Boss!!!
