I have been going to SW Eyecare for many years. Upon my last yearly exam, I was told that I needed cataract surgery as my cataracts were getting thicker. I immediately decided to get the surgery done. I was finally able to get an appointment over the phone with Dr Sanchez to talk about the process of the surgery. He was amazing on how he explained everything about the surgery to me. I had a lot of trust and confidence that he would do an outstanding job. My first cataract surgery was on Oct 4, 2022. I was really scared but after Dr Sanchez, surgeon and Dr Dixon ,anesthesiologist, assured me everything was going to be fine, I felt convinced they they both would do an excellent job. On Oct 5, the next day, I was already starting to see better than before. I was so amazed at the wonderful job these doctors did. Three weeks later, I had my other eye done and it was so amazing again. I cannot say enough good things about Southwest Eyecare Doctors and staff. All of them are very courteous, knowledgeable and so helpful. Take it from me, who was so scared and had high anxiety about the procedure, after it was all done, it was nothing and I worried for nothing. Many thanks to all of the Southwest Eye team.!! Southwest Eyecare really comes across as caring and that includes the receptionist to the doctor and everyone in between. This facility is run like a fine oiled machine. I have been a patient of Dr. Sanchez at Southwest Eye for approximately 15 years and have always received excellent care. This past holiday weekend, I woke up during the night with severe pain in my left eye. After trying cold and warm compresses and eye drops, the pain had not improved. I called the office and spoke to the emergency answering service and requested a return call from the on call doctor. Dr. Downes returned my call within a short time and after asking a few questions told me he could meet me at the office within an hour. He was able to address the pain within minutes and I felt instantaneous relief. He told me the office would contact me Tuesday morning when they opened. I received a call at 8:05 am asking me when I could come in to see Dr. Sanchez. I cannot speak highly enough of the professionalism of this practice.

Dr. Downes performed cataract surgery on both of my eyes. I was impressed with the pre-surgery exams, his caring demeanor in the surgical center, and the post surgery exams. I have been an Eye Associates patient for the past 4 years. When I saw them in March 2022, they told me my cataracts in both eyes were bad and I should get them removed; however, the first cataracts consultation was not until June. I kept calling every day to see if there were any cancellations, and I finally moved the appointment to late May at 7:30 AM. The surgery would not have taken place until at least the fall for the first eye, and then who knows when for the 2nd eye. I saw the billboard for Southwest Eye Care and decided to try them. I got an appointment within 10 days, and the cataracts in both eyes were done 2 weeks apart by late July. I am so grateful to have not had a lot of time in between the surgeries of the 2 eyes because the vision in each eye is vastly different. Right now I do not have to use glasses on the computer because of the excellent outcome of the surgeries. Dr. Downes is highly intelligent, skilled and very caring. He called me later after each surgery to check on how I was doing. I am so NOT used to that! Thanks you so much!

I have spent the last couple of years dealing with dry eyes which has caused a lot of discomfort and pain. Just the simple act of opening my eyes in the morning was a challenge because they were so dry they would stick to my lids cut my eyes and it was very painful. At the time I was going to another eye facility here in Albuquerque and I had seen doctor after doctor there with no improvement. Just when I was starting to feel like there wasn’t any hope for my situation or that I would have to go out of state to find another specialist is when I found Southwest Eyecare. I heard and read a lot of good things about them so decided to make an appointment with Dr. Downes, and I am glad I did. He is a wonderful doctor. He really has helped improve the quality of my life by helping me with my dry eyes. Following his treatments and advice I have noticed a great deal of improvement with my eyes and I am very grateful for that. I feel very lucky to have found this place. Overall I have had a really good experience here and I hope that anyone reading this review will find comfort in knowing that there are good doctors out there and there is hope and treatments that may help improve your situation as it did for me.

I just completed my cataract surgery this week with Dr. David Truong and his expert staff. The results were more than I could have ever expected. The best way I can explain the optical change in my vision is now I see the world in high definition. The colors are brighter and pure, the images are crisp and clear. My experience with Dr. Truong for cataract surgery in both eyes was the best medical eye exam, education about cataract disease and treatments, actual surgery and follow-up that I could wish for. He took time with me, answered my questions and provided me with excellent vision! I have recommended him to a friend! I've been to other ophthalmologist offices. This is the best. Dr. Teahan did my Lasik surgery years ago and monitored often afterwards. Never had an issue. Getting ready to do more work with pterygium and cataracts in both eyes with Dr. Downes. I wouldn't go anywhere else. Totally professional here.

While visiting ABQ for three months I awoke one night with severe pain in one eye. I was able to get in later that day where I saw Dr. Kenneth Downes. He diagnosed a problem with the cornea and proposed a plan for treatment. I felt confident in his treatment. He took the time to discuss the issues with my eyes and the treatment did improve the situation. Everyone in the office was pleasant and helpful. I ended up being seen several times over the following weeks and I never had a bad experience.

I walked in at 4pm asking to see a doc because I knew I had an eye issue that needed attention. The receptionist was very polite and inquired if a doc could see me. Doc downes and his assistants did see me even without much of a wait. After quite a thorough examination my eye issue was diagnosed as extreme dry eye. I have a prescription and a plan for follow up. This is not only a very professional group but everyone in the office is welcoming and obviously there for the patients.

The first thing I did this morning was NOT fumble for my glasses. That's after 50 years of wearing coke bottles. Dr. Teahan is THE MAN! He and his staff are professional and caring. One cataract down, one to go. I've seldom felt I was in better hands. When someone's pointing laser beams and sticking probes and scalpels into your eye, don't you want the best there is? Of course you do. I only have one complaint: SW Eyecare really needs some auto magazines in their lobby! Did I mention I can see again! Its an unbelievable gift most take for granted. I just had my latest eye procedure done. This was a laser procedure (capsulotomy) on my eye to remove build up on my lens capsule after previous cataract surgery. This procedure was a complete success. It was painless and took less the 5 minutes to perform. I have to add that I’ve been a patient at Southwest Eyecare for over 10 years and I had several other intricate eye procedures done with complete success - cataracts, torn retina, and treatment for floaters. Dr. Beaudette and Dr. Saxe did the procedures and they are by far the top physicians in their fields. I must also mention I am a Private Pilot and the FAA accepted the procedures I had done and I continue to pass my FAA eye exams. I do wear glasses for reading, but I have the eyes of an eagle to fly and do my day-to-day activities. Their entire staff are professional and the friendliest you will find. I can’t recommend Southwest Eyecare more to anyone for all their eye care needs.

I only have good things to say about my experience with Dr..Downes and Southwest Eyecare! Dr. Downes is an amazing surgeon. My primary care doctor recommended Southwest Eyecare after a botched cataract surgery I had on my right eye (incorrect prescription lens) by a doctor in a different clinic in Albuquerque. I arrived in Dr. Downes office with extreme nearsightedness in my right eye and in great distress!!! Dr. Downes took a lot of time explaining the proceedure to remove the incorrect lens and replace it with the correct magnification lens. He successfully removed and replaced the lens in my right eye. Right away my vision was greatly improved!!. A few months later he did cataract surgery in my left eye. Both surgeries were successful and my vision is awesome without glasses!!! I am totally thrilled with the outcome!! Dr Downes is an amazing, caring, knowledgeable eye surgeon!! I highly recommend him!! Thank you Dr Downes
