This isn't a facility but it is a referral service. This is a great place to start narrowing down your options. You still need to inspect homes and read reviews, but it is nice to have an option to help you narrow down your options. Facilities pay for referrals and they may not have been visited by A Place For Mom, so be sure to keep digging to find the right fit.

I am so thankful for A Place for Mom. I didn't know how to even start my search. As soon as I connected with Dawn, she provided a calm, reassuring voice that I needed. She immediately helped me identify what facilities would fit our needs. Then she handled all of the appointments to setup tours and followed up to see what feedback I gave. She was wonderful. My mother is now in an absolutely fantastic independent living facility and loves it. Before taking the tour, she would not even discuss going to a facility. I thank A Place for Mom for giving us both back a normal life and a much better relationship.

I was given the name of Barkley Place in Fort Myers, FL by A Place For Mom to check out. I contacted them and they had a vacancy that was available soon. The Manager sent the information and pictures. Since I wasn't ready to move that quickly, Anita Lacy, kept me posted of vacancies and moved in on January 6, 2022. Prior to my move I did check it out and was pleased that a 3rd floor apartment was available. We completed the paperwork and set a move-in date. Upon arrival, realized that there were so many people involved that made my move so effortlessly and have continued to make my stay as comfortable as possible. This is not a new building, however it is well maintained. Maintenance is well qualified to handle everything. The whole staff is most gracious and knows your name. They make an effort to know your name and will address you by your name. WOW! How many places will the whole staff do that? I hope to continue living here until they carry me, feet first out the door. Thank you A Place For Mom for suggesting Merrill Gardens at Barkley Place.

I can not stress enough how much A Place for Mom helped me. My sister and I found ourselves in a panic trying to find a facility for our father who suddenly was no longer able to safely stay in his home. A representative from A Place for Mom literally called me that same night and spent at least 45 minutes helping me. He also continued to check in with me over the next several days after helping me find facilities that would work. I really felt the care and compassion he extended. I would absolutely recommend A Place for Mom, hands down.

A Place for Mom was a lifesaver for our family! I needed to find an independent living community for my father quickly. A Place for Mom was able to give me several local communities within my father's affordability. Within days we were able to visit and even sign a contract. Dad was moved in about 3 weeks later. My representative was very helpful and pretty responsive. I would highly recommend their services. Note that they do not deal with every senior community. For example, they do not have a connection to ACTS communities.

Our representative Jennifer was so caring and attentive and that made a huge difference. Jennifer followed up repeatedly and showed real empathy for our situation. Several of the facilities that we wanted to consider had not given a Place for Mom updated cost figures and this was frustrating, but not within Jennifer’s control. I have to say that everything she could possibly do for us, she did willingly and quickly. Very satisfied with this experience.

A place for mom was the most awesome group of people we could have ever hoped for. My husband and I had planned our 40 year anniversary out of the country for 8 days when two days before leaving, my dad became ill. He has lived with us for 10 years and is usually pretty self sufficient but, was weak from being ill. We were afraid we’d have to cancel our trip last minute. I was completely overwhelmed when my Mother needed to go into Assisted Living after recovering from a fall. Thank goodness someone had previously told me about “A Place For Mom”! I called without a clue as to how to evaluate a facility, compare facilities, what to look for, how to determine the best fit for my Mom, and what to expect, even how to tell my Mom she wasn’t going home. I can’t tell you what a relief it was to have someone “hold my hand” through this whole process. They provide on-going support through information on countless topics- aging parents, dementia, healthcare POAs, check sheets and scheduling for touring facilities, comparisons of cost of Assisted Living vs in-home care, insights into paying for the costs (without delving into your personal information), and best of all, there is no fee, no contract -nothing - for this incredible service! My contact has been with me/us for over 5 years. She has assisted us in placing Mother in 2 different communities, most recently moving Mother to another state to be here with us. What a relief it was just to call and get referrals to top communities in the area instead of doing all that leg-work myself!! Incidentally, Mother loves her “apartment” , cuts up with her new friends, and enjoys good food and a safe, vibrant community! Oh yes-there’s also activities, live music on the porch, and of course-happy hour! A WIN-WIN for everyone! Thanks again to “A Place For Mom”!

The staff and administrator at Blueberry Hill Personal Care Home are the absolute best! They are always friendly and helpful both to Mother and to me. They take time to do fun things with the residents in addition to their usual responsibilities. Today, I received word that the administrator did a jigsaw puzzle with Mother and they laughed and had a good time. She is so much happier there than she was at home! I thank God for these good people and the excellent service and care they are providing!

The representative I partnered with to find a place for my mother was responsive and followed up with me several times. The recommended facilities, based on my criteria, were very good. However, some MAJOR details were missing. MOST IMPORTANTLY, the processes followed by these facilities to accept residents into their facility. After submitting a NONREFUNDABLE down payment, assuming since my mother had been assessed and assigned a level of care by their nursing staff as to her overall health and well being,that she would be accepted as a resident into the facility THAT WAS NOT ACCURATE. She had to have a physical by her primary care physician and ONLY after the nursing staff reviewed and approved her assessment would she be allowed to become a resident. I knew she would have to have a physical, but what I didn't know was, the outcome of that physical would determine her admittance, NOT the facilities nursing staff assessment. I informed my A Place For Mom contact that he should inform all clients of the processes involved in securing a facility. If I had known, her final admittance was AFTER her primary care assessment, I would NOT have put down a NONREFUNDABLE deposit until they reviewed her physician's health status. In the end, my mother was approved as a resident, but the A Place For Mom representatives NEED to MORE FULLY explain the process. Thank you.

I had a wonderful experience with A Place For Mom when I had a 2 week dead line to find a "place" for my 100 year old mother. I was very stressed about this, as I wanted to find a place not too far from me. I was contacted right away, and was connected with a sweet lady, Elsy. She was so helpful finding a place only 1.05 miles away. She set up a tour appointment and kept in contact with me. Everything has worked out as well as can be expected with the arrangements. It was quite overwhelming at first! I was getting emails from SOOO many businesses affiliated with A Place For Mom! I couldn't keep them all straight. The easiest thing to do is print out the list of all of the businesses and call them each individually to get more info on their assisted living facilities. We ended up moving my parents into Garnett Place, which everyone loves! Great staff, great clean facilities, and they take the elderly waiver! BINGO! It's the best! A Place for Mom's "Lisa" was a perfect resource for finding a place for my Sister. She acted instantly, providing me several places to peruse online, with contacts and addresses with phone numbers to call.She always returned my calls and provided a wealth of information. We decided to go with " The Landing of Brighton" almost instantly, but were able to talk to representatives of several other options. I would caution prospective searchers to ask a lot of questions about services and care, but particularly about how the home wants to handle the finances. Not all are particularly ethical. Listen closely to what they say and act accordingly. As for " A Place For Mom", they are top notch! The BEST!!!

The first was six years ago when my mom and dad had to move to Orange County from San Luis Obispo for health reasons Through APFM we found memory care at Atria del Sol in Mission Viejo where my mother lived happily until just recently when it was clear she was not taking advantage of the many programs there. I needed assisted living for both my folks right away as my father was going to be coming quickly out of a nursing home and they would not be able to go back home safely. I contacted A Place for Mom on line. I got an immediate response from Grace Hanks. Shortly thereafter, we were talking on the phone and Grace was educating me and asking my needs for my folks. The next day I received many lists and recommendations of communities. I was able to visit four locally very soon. It was good because I could walk into a community knowing a lot of info beforehand and not spend a lot of time hearing about things I already knew. Grace kept checking up on me even though I was to busy and overwhelmed to respond to her. It is a great service that A Place for Mom provide because when the time comes, you find yourself behind the eight ball, not knowing anything except hear-say from well meaning friends. The person I spoke with was very pleasant and compassionate. However, I was misinformed of what Assisted Living Facilities are. It would be very helpful to let the Public know that Assisted Living Facilities only provide the following: 3 meals per day, daily social activity, once weekly: laundry service , assistance with showering & light housekeeping services. Medications are dispensed by Medical Techs. There's no continuous personalized & discreet assistance with dressing or toileting as these facilities require the residents to be fully independent. Needing regular assistance for tasks is considered to be Skilled Nursing Facility duties.

Helped me sort out the actual needs for my mom's condition, versus what I "thought" would be perfect for her. I was looking at places that were very busy, workout facilities, pool, classes, etc which is great, but my mother was pretty much confined to her apartment, as she had vision and mobility issues. A Place for Mom suggested I look at smaller facilities, which may or may not have these extras, but would be a better fit for her. They were right, and one place they suggested was perfect.

I had a great experience working with A Place for Mom, specifically with the very helpful suggestions from my APFM guide, JoAnn O'Brien-Curdie. When my father-in-law passed quickly at the beginning of March 2021, we had to move quickly to find an affordable, comfortable assisted-living for my mother-in-law, as she could not live alone. JoAnn recommended numerous AL communities with varying amenities, and she assisted in scheduling appointments for me to visit facilities. I don’t think I could have handled the rapid physical & mental decline of my dad without assistance of “A Place For Mom”. My advisor, Brenda, was a big part of keeping me together through the process of moving my dad, twice, and lifting me up through his multiple hospitalizations. My dad and I lived in different states and I had no way to tour or assess any facilities from 600 miles away and frankly didn’t even know where to start. Brenda asked what we needed in an Assisted Living Facility and took that pressure off of me. Six months after my dad moved into his AL apartment and several trips by me to check on him, I decided to bring him near to me. I reached out to Brenda and she immediately knew who I was and found several places close to my home. He is in a beautiful, well-sized corner apt at an Assisted Living Facility five minutes away. In the end, my dad decided to stay in his current home because of the convenience of my family being so close. Besides Brenda being there for us with quick response times, she sent me many articles and advice to cope with all the things I was dealing with at that time. I have since given her contact info to my mom who is dealing with my elderly, recently widowed Aunt and my husband and his siblings, as my in-laws need assistance in some form. I have no doubt that “A Place For Mom” will be a significant help in finding the right path/place for my extended family members.

Having a conversation with Paul from A Place For Mom about my father's options while he was facing hospital discharge and hospice was the first time I think I actually spoke with a human being capable of understanding our family's situation and offering real practical options. The healthcare system is so broken by regulation, bureaucracy, and politicization; the entire course of my father's decline and death was one absurd dilemma after another, but we were able to find a viable care option with Paul's help and everything went smoothly after that.

She listened attentively and gathered the information needed about my mom's situation. She was always thoughtful but realistic with the information she provided. My parents, both in their mid 80s decided that they wanted to move all the way across country to be near their grand kids. They didn't know the area well and they need a really specific option that met the needs of my mom who has dementia and my dad who is quite active. After filling out a short form, APFM called me immediately. They asked me a few questions about my parents health and their budget. Within a few seconds, they transferred me to a local agent, Grace. She took all of the pressure off of me by sending me a list of a few communities that met my parents needs from the hundreds available. I was able to reach out and contact these communities and set up a few tours of the properties before my parents arrived. When they did arrive, rather than having to drive all over town and look at properties that wouldn't meet their needs, I was able to focus our time on helping them choose the perfect future home so they could schedule their move and get down to spending more time with their grandchildren. Overall, the process was smooth and simple and as APFM quotes, the service is completely free.

Short version: THEY DO NOT CHARGE YOU! So call them, they KNOW how the game is played, and they guide you all along the way. We would never have found my folks' new perfect place without A Place for Mom. Long version: We needed to find a great place for my parents to call home where they would have care available but not feel like they were in "the waiting room for death" (I'll abbreviate it "WRFD" - which typified our previous experiences with assisted living.) An "A Place for Mom" commercial came on TV and we decided to at least call - we thought maybe they charged for the service but we should at least check it out. SO GLAD WE DID! THEY DO NOT CHARGE YOU (they are paid by the facility when your loved ones move in.) Our rep was SO helpful - she had recent experience as the sales agent for one of these types of facilities so she knew how the game was played! She made several suggestions of places to see based on our budget - and these arrived by email! There was even an app for my phone to make it effortless. She set up our showings for us, and even scheduled lunch at one of the facilities for us. We viewed 5 facilities, two of which were unbelievably beautiful and state-of-the-art, and included great activities and amenities that made us want to move in with them! Two were the "usual suspects" (a company that advertises heavily) - these were just ok - and one was a "WRFD" in our opinion (but it was also a lower cost option, to be fair - and the food was great.) Then, once we knew which ones we were focusing on, she told us HOW to get the deal we wanted - how to time everything, and also what exactly was involved paperwork, doctor and insurance-wise, and how to do it with the least hassle. Her advice on how to handle the many details was PRICELESS. In the end, my folks have a new home that is FAR beyond our expectations for what assisted living could be, and we'd NEVER have known about it without A Place for Mom. Call them!!! You won't be disappointed.

At first I thought APFM just wanted money, that I would get bombarded with calls and emails. I didn't know what the function of APFM was. But as things progressed I found I had control over how many emails and calls I received. Keri asked specific questions to make my search easier: how many emails/ calls do you want, the mile radius from the area I was looking in. She would visit with me on the phone, encourage me in my search and she celebrated with me when I found The One. Anyone looking into assisted living should look into APFM, they are there to take the stress out of your search.

A very nice helpful staff to provide information when looking for assisted living for your loved but keep in mind the place you choose gets a cut of the proceeds that is taken out of the money the facility receives and those facilities don’t always like to pay so they shy away from the program. I used the services but chose my own without using the referral.
