A few months ago we received a family heirloom that needed some repair. We took this piece to E.M Shorts Guitars, and a gentleman named David James worked to repair it. This violin comes with stories, but wasn’t usable, until today. With anticipation, we picked up the fully repaired treasure.
We didn’t know much about its past, but left with knowledge of its makers and heritage.
what we know:
Date 1890-1902
Markneukirchen.
Roth and Leader
(Ernst Heinrich Roth)
(Max Leader)
German.
It’s value it sentimental.
Here is to hearing her play well again. 🙂
We are beyond satisfied, we are blown away, with the care and attention to detail of this repair.

There is not a better guitar shopping experience in Wichita, than there is at E.M. Shorts. The man who helped me was respectful, and gave honest feedback on what he was hearing from each guitar that I tried. I really enjoyed it!

Purchased guitar from them over the phone from Dallas. Experience was great. They set it up and had it to me in two business days. Great deal on a great guitar.

Great little stores like this are really hard to find these days and all the instruments are top notch. I bought my first guitar here more than 10 years ago and have made many purchases sense. Their prices are competitive and the atmosphere is good enough for me to wait until i can go to Wichita (a three hour drive for me) to get stuff there instead of buying online. Theres a reason they've been in business as long as they have.

Daniel was *very* knowledgeable and helpful in finding me the right guitar. He encouraged me to (and helped me) try a wide range of guitars, amps, and pedals. I am very satisfied with my shopping experience there, and intend on buying from them whenever I can. Also, the prices were also quite agreeable. I saved over $200 on the strat pro I ended up buying. 5/5 would recommend just going in there just to hang out!

Thanks to Marc and Brian for making my guitar experience world class! I visited the store last week to look at the PRS guitars. I'm a beginner so Marc demoed the guitar for me, answering all my questions and never making me feel rushed or pressuring me into a sale. I came back yesterday and Brian was extremely helpful with the sale and doing the set up quickly since I live an hour away. I had my 7 month old daughter along with me and Brian had us follow him to the work room so it was quieter there, very thoughtful. He gave me a great history and talked about all the great features of the guitar I was purchasing, a great thing to do. Thanks again guys!

I love giving business to these guys any time I can. If I need a product and EM Shorts sells it I'll buy from them before I shop online or at a "big box" store. I've purchased 2 amps, 3 guitars and many pedals and cables from these folks. I plan on continuing. I saw a few negative reviews above and I have no idea what they're talking about... If you're considering making a purchase you can't beat the costumer service from EM Shorts. The only complaint I'd have is how long it takes the luthier to get some of the work done (but that's only because he does a great job and has a ton of business - it's a sign of how good his work is).

Great staff and the selection of great gear blew me away.

Purchased a brand new Paul Reed Smith DGT from the shop over the phone, 100s of miles away with 0 issues. Great pricing, great staff.

Visited here to look for a guitar for a kids birthday present. The staff here were all great and pointed me to a great guitar that fit his needs. Was very pleased with their overall service and prices. Will definitely do business with them again in the future.

Helpful and friendly staff make repairs and purchases a fun experience. The products they carry are different from the big brick and morter stores so if you can't find what you are looking for anywhere else you'll find it here at a great price. They aren't super busy either so you don't have volume wars with other musicians. 5 stars!

Nice small non-chain guitar store with very personal service. They carry PRS which is my favorite brand. They have a great luthier in house to help with any repairs or set-ups you might need.

E. M. Shorts has amazing customer service. The store has looked for several things for me and found them at a very reasonable price. Every time I have been into the store, they have been nothing but helpful, even if I didn't buy anything, and allowed me to try any instrument I asked to, while still considering sanitizing and masks.

I've traveled all over the U.S. and this is one of the best guitar stores that I've ever visited. Believe me, I've been haunting music stores since the 70's :) The gear is excellent quality and the prices are worth the travel. GC is a wast of time. Buy something from a store that cares. If you want a good instrument to LAST and enjoy for many years to come, go here.

Bought my Larivee here & continue to come back for service. Great people & the only place in the area I'll ever take a guitar in for service work. Don't waste your time with the big box store down Kellogg- go where you matter & will be taken care of.

Beautiful resonator guitar with a very fair price. Quick and easy....

I have purchased two guitars there in the last ten years and I always make a point to stop by when I am in Wichita. I purchased a Larrivee Solid Koa Parlor and a Gibson Les Paul Jr. from the store and both were in perfect condition.
They have a great selection of acoustics and a good representation of Fender, Gibson, and PRS electrics from the entire range of those brands. There is a good but not huge representation of ukes and basses. They seem to have a lot of Banjos if you are trying to channel your inner Steve Martin.
Not hard to find good $500 guitars there and if you want to spend $5,000+ you can do that too.
When we bought the Gibson Les Paul Jr. we found the price was nearly $50 below Guitar Center, plus it was re-strung and setup for us!

Brian is a rock star luthier and a hell of a fine fellow. Dad brought his acoustic guitar in to see if it could be made more playable. Brian adjusted it on the spot and even restrung it! All for the cost of a cheap new set of strings. WOW!
Jim Stanford
Ask for Lance Threet. He might play a lick for you on an Epiphone. Paul Reed Smith. Taylor. Fender. Gibson. Dozens more. Best guitar shop in Wichita. By musicians for musicians. Skip guitar center and get the local flavor. Where local musicians shop.
James Casimir
Good people. Had a very specific request (250k logarithmic potentiometer) and they happened to have one in the back. Hooked me up with everything I needed and were very friendly.
Colby Sellers
Friendly and Knowledgeable staff. Great huge selection of gear at the lowest prices I've seen! I don't know how they can sell everything as cheap as they do! Really awesome shop!
