An amazing instrument store and music school, a true staple of Capitol Hill! Our children have been taking music lessons here for years and the instructors' dedication, flexibility, and pure quality is truly outstanding!

Terrific experience purchasing a very specific acoustic guitar which I've been seeking for quite some time. Lindy was super helpful by reaching out and sharing important information about a slight blemish on the body of the instrument (which doesn't affect playability) and then making sure everything was securely packaged to be shipped. My guitar arrived in the exact condition I had hoped (also thanks to some awesome work by Music on the Hill's luthier). Overall great purchase experience and I'm looking forward to visiting the shop the next time in the DC area.

Without a doubt the people were friendly, and were patient with me as I poured over which guitar I wanted (it was to be a gift to me from friends who encouraged me to select which guitar I wanted. So long as the price was reasonable). Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond my control I never got the instrument.

Been in a few times. Aaron and hannah are both so helpful and patient with me as I asked a bajillion questions and worked really hard to find a guitar that worked for me and that I was excited about

What a lovely place to not only purchase an instrument but learn how to use it! We started with my granddaughter learning the violin and moved on to mommy taking guitar lessons. Very homey atmosphere and great with kids of all ages! When I finally have the time I want to learn how to play drums!

Music on the Hill - The Hill’s own neighborhood music shop. Pretty cool.
I’m a new client at Music on the Hill and I’m a very satisfied customer. My wife and I look forward to coming back, taking lessons, and recommending this neighborhood music shop to our musically-inclined or curious friends.
Their prices are often just as good (and sometimes better) than their competition. The customer service/expertise is spot-on. And, you feel good knowing your money is going back to a small, local business. Frankly, it’s an investment in our community and that’s almost reason enough these days.
Give them a shot. They don’t have everything, but they’ve got a lot and it was more than enough for us.

Aaron hooked me up with a great set-up for my telecaster. Helped fix some intonation issues. So very grateful for his expertise, efficiency, and kindness. Highly recommend coming here! They will treat you right!!!

I had an enjoyable experience buying a guitar here. Their shop setup is really aesthetically pleasing and their selections were all from very quality makers. The staff were very helpful in finding something that fit me by giving me a lot of options to work with. I also enjoyed them showing off the instruments with their musical skills.

My whole family loves Music on the Hill! Lindy is a terrific resource on all things music related. We’ve had great experiences with lessons (clarinet and guitar) and when we wanted to upgrade to a wooden clarinet, Lindy & Luke found us a quality used instrument. If there’s something we need and they don’t have it, they’ve always been able to get it in short order. Music on the Hill is everything a local music store should be.

I live in PA, but we were visiting DC while my daughter's school was having a 30-day music challenge of students practicing their instrument every day. Not wanting to lug a cello in our small car to and from DC, I called Music on the Hill and explained my unusual request. Luke was kind enough to set aside a cello for my daughter so she could practice for 10 minutes and get credit for playing that day. Not only that, but one of the employees helped her tune the cello. Thanks for your dedication to young musicians!

Can't speak to their lessons or guitar supplies, which seem to be their mainstay. I was looking for piano music and selection was very limited so I didn't find anything I wanted. Woodwind and other marching band supplies are pretty non-existent. I play clarinet and they only had the softest reeds, a few books for learners, a cleaning kit and that was it. I know its a small space, but I would love to have a music supply store locally for all instruments.

Virtually the only musical instrument store in DC, which is in itself shocking. It's geared towards more popular tastes in musical instruments - such as instruments common in Rock music. It's a bit small, but that's the nature of stores in a city with property values like DC. The staff I interacted with was very friendly and helpful. They let me play their guitars, too - Although I've never been to a store where this is not the case. They also have paid lessons and free sessions.

Big fans-whole Family (2 kids, 2 parents) has taken a variety of lessons here-guitar, piano, drums, bass guitar, ukulele, and voice lessons. Teachers are great and patient with fidgety toddlers up to the seasoned dad rocker. We have also had good luck finding sheet music and special ordering instruments not in stock. Christmas caroling and Camp have been great too. I can't imagine the Hill without Music on the Hill!

Since this place added a guitar tech and luthier, I have taken in three guitars and received perfect setups and provided great service in general. So glad to have these folks in Capitol Hill instead of having to give a conglomerate like Guitar Center my business!

Both my son and daughter have taken classes here. Lindy has been able to work with us in a way that has always made me feel that she has had our child’s best interest at heart, with thoughtful suggestions that we haven’t received elsewhere. I have also seen Lindy suggest to parents that they remove a child from a class for the child’s own benefit, all of which suggests to me a massive amount of integrity. Enrique was a super violin instructor as well. I would recommend it to any parent.

Had an amazing purchasing experience here and came away with a gorgeous acoustic. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, quickly found me the right size and a great fit. Very good COVID precautions. Will be back for my next major purchase.

My daughter and I have been taking music lessons at Music on the Hill for several months. I am pleased not only with the quality of their teachers, but also their customer service at the store itself. It is a wonderful neighborhood gem.

Was looking to buy a backup bass guitar and the store owner was really helpful in recommending the perfect model for what I was looking for. The store itself is an attractive store with a good selection of instruments, sheet music, and accessories, and nice spaces for music lessons.

They have a great selection of guitars and ukuleles, as well as replacement strings. It's so nice to have a local music shop that loves ukulele as much as I do!
