As a drummer, this place is like paradise lol. Large selection of drum sets, snare drums, drumsticks & other drum accessories. They also have dedicated guitar, keyboard, wind & audio/video sections. The prices are also very fair. Great place to go for used gear too. 5 stars...

So I recently hit up this store for some things. I dealt with a guy named Thomas. He was easy to deal with and got me what I needed, but more importantly, he was a wealth of knowledge, about the gear that they carry. He’s not even a bass player, and STILL knew more than me about the gear I have. This is not an attribute you find in most people, so I was extra impressed by him. Being a road dog, I’ve been to guitar centers from coast to coast. I wish all of em had a Thomas. 10/10 would recommend to my friends and family. Thanks Thomas!!!

I hope everybody else there is even slightly as good as he is because then there will be nowhere else other than here to go to get my gear.

I bought a used limited edition Les Paul and wanted it checked out by a professional to make sure I got what was advertised and there wasn’t any surprises waiting for me the first time she was played. I worked with John the tech and he was really professional and knowledgeable. I typically have reservations with taking a guitar to places as I’m semi new still and a lot of times people just talk over your head or down to you when you have questions or problems. I’m also hearing disabled so a conversation is about three times the work for me than it is for others. I understand the irony of a person that is hearing disabled learning to play the guitar. John was really patient with me and we were able to make sure it’s ok and set up a plan to have her brought in for a full tune up later and helped answer my questions. While most of the conversation went over my head still he was cool about it and explained the situation clearly to me.

purchased a used Roland micro cube rx from them via their website. they said would not get for almost a week. got it in three days. and there was an ad misprint. the ad ad refused this amp, but the photo was of another amp. prior to them boxing it up and shipping they called to confirm which one was the one I wanted. once confirmed they boxed it up and sent it. ordered on the 16th for in the 19th. plus amp was less than half all others priced.staff there was very cuteous and lighthearted. would buy from again.

Our Salesman Shane was absolutely wonderful. He was so freaking busy, it was him and another guy and he was running around like a maniac, we kept telling him it was OK we weren't in a rush. He was absolutely great. He found a blemish on my husband's case when he was packing up his guitar that we hadn't noticed and made a point to let us know about it and find us another one. Took my Jackson electric in for a tune up. Both GC repair techs that I spoke with were very knowledgeable and helpful. I didn't feel talked down to as a newbie. Daryl and John made value distinctions that educated me and made sense. They also demonstrated an authentic interest in saving me money. There's obviously a cost of repairs but I don't feel as though I am paying for parts or service that aren't needed. The service was done very quickly and I received a courtesy call to let me know my guitar was ready for pickup. This store has an incredible selection and each department appears to have knowledgeable staff to help any customer with their needs. Very impressed. Highly recommended.

Toda place is so cool! They have so many guitars, drums, pianos, and accessories. The atmosphere is chill. You can test run the instruments. I logged the backroom of acoustics. The staff is very friendly and they even have lessons! Awesome spot!

Great store. Blue hair dude was a little strange... Or maybe just mad at scripting I don't know or sales whatever. Was buying an acoustic and he was just emphasizing amps and how much acoustics sound s***** on AMP so I might need to another guitar kept telling him I already have standard electric guitars but he just kept responding with yeah but those acoustics... It's not going to affect my five-star ranking of the store in general it was just strange that's all I don't know if he had a quota he was directly told right before he got to me to do that or what I don't know just seemed odd and probably I would lean towards forced like he was following orders but I don't know just like I said odd

Always happy to shop @ VBGC - recently picked up GC special limited edition Fender Mustang Blackout bass (Ebony fretboard!). Very nice guitar, got it right outta the box (my preference). Pretty good shape from the factory, only needed minimal set-up, so good on Fender. Having wonderful time annoying neighbors w/ Siouxsie&TB repertoire. Its a really fun bass to play + sounds awesome LOUD. I really appreciate everything VBGC offers, selection, professional staff & central location. Also good to see familiar faces (VBGC staff) being covid-careful. Thanks again!

This is a 1 star review disguised as a 5 star review in hopes of the staff working on communication with all potential customers. We just took our son in to pick out a new guitar for his birthday on his Birthday! Yayy! When you see a whole family come in please start by greeting us,we were all smiling and ready to buy a whole new kit for our son, asked questions but no Interest in finding out what the birthday kid wanted. We talk up the guitar shops and our son looks forward to getting opinions of people that play guitar or work in that industry. Both kids were like what just happened… We will look to purchase more local in the future or order online because none of the guitar shops on the blvd seem worried about making money or customers. Alpha is similar but not as personable.

The staff here was ridiculously helpful and not overly pushy made themselves available and were certainly able to answer any questions that my daughter or I had. They were also very knowledgeable about the instruments which I find incredibly rare these days in an age of internet sales and having to rely on user reviews and the number of stars posted on locations. Super great experience. I went in because my bass drum sounded awful and panda helped me get squared away. Super cool guy to talk to and very knowledgeable. Very glad he was able to lend much expertise. Now my drum sounds amazing and I understand much more about the instrument thanks to panda. For sure will come back anytime I need help in the future.

Pretty cool place. Nice selection. My son and I just walked around. We had no idea what to do or look out for in buying my son's first set of drums. No one helped, asked or even talked to us. After 20 minutes, we eventually left.

Got a guitar fixed here and they were very prompt and friendly. The front counter personnel were knowledgeable and helpful throughout the process. As a keyboard player, their selection is really good and you can try out a myriad of different ones before you think about buying. Will definitely be back here again!

Just like usual, the way it's always been, for the past 20 years ! Usually really good and helpful staff, (which if you've spent any amount of time in a music store as a musician, you know that can be rare. There's a very thin line between being helpful and being arrogant. It's a problem when you ask for something to a sales person who may not be as well versed as others in certain areas, and instead of saying they don't know/not familiar they'd rather treat you as if you don't know what your talking about) and always the best prices you'll find, if you find cheaper, they'll match it !!

This is my favorite store of all time. I could spend hours in these stores. Their selection is incredible and the staff is usually very friendly. I am a guitarist as well as a DJ so they carry just about anything I could need, the only issue is they carry everything I want but can't afford. I love the fact that just about everything in the store is hands on and you actually allowed to play with just about everything in store. During this specific visit I was actually looking for some new DJ speakers. The sales rep was very helpful and even though I wasn't planning on making a purchase he let me test out several speaker and sub combinations to find the setup that best suited my needs. I had a blast and the sales rep didn't mind that I didn't make the purchase, he just simply said when your ready just come back and see me man and I will hook you up. Now I purchase a fair amount of equipment from guitar center but liked the fact that even though I wasn't purchasing they were not rude or pushy and didn't act like I was wasting their time. I will be making a speaker purchase in the future and it will be from here.

I bought a new LTD EC-1000 here. After I took it home I realized the switch was bad and the bridge pickup was not working correctly. I took it back to return it but John the guitar technician here wouldn't let me because as he said, every guitar is unique, and if you find one that sounds good to you, he wants you to be happy with it. They replaced the switch free of charge and I'm as happy as can be. Outstanding customer service! And a big shout out to John for doing me a favor.

The place is clean with prices clearly marked. You're allowed to browse and try out the merchandise. The thing I like the most is that the staff aren't pushy. There's no pressure there. And considering how great some guitarists are, I dare say, there is no intimidation. The staff are knowledgeable and very kind and understanding . They don't come across as the types to roll their eyes when asking "simple" questions. I've bought products over the years from them and have never had a bad experience.

Guitar center sells most types of musical equipment. The selection seems more geared to novice players with a few high quality instruments sprinkled in. The exception is guitars. I suppose this is the new way to do a brick and mortar music store but it not what it once was. The employees were friendly though and helpful.

Drum sets and guitars, as far as I can tell, anything you would need to make any sound you're looking for. Prices from 'on a budget' to 'i need the best you have'. Never a bad time here.

Great place, I love this store has everything from guitars, pianos drums everything they have absolutely everything you need for your musical desires with so many different options and a very helpful staff. Very quiet and inconspicuous. The layout is not as good as some other GCs I've been too, and they didn't have enough staff to help the handful of customers that were in there on a monday afternoon. Good if you just want to browse without interruption, but slow if there is something you actually want to buy. I just came for some strings and the checkout took 15 minutes.

Great experience. Just picked up an American professional limited edition strat from this store and it was a very smooth experience, all things considered. At the time I visited, the store was limiting the amount of customers inside, so I had to wait around 10 minutes. Once I was inside, everyone was very nice and helpful. Panda helped me pick out my dream Strat and was one of the most attentive and easy-going GC employees I’ve ever encountered. I just moved to this area but I’ve noticed that everyone working in this store in particular is very helpful and seem genuinely happy to help their customers. Will be back.

Guitar Center has always been my go-to music store. The selection is outstanding. The reason I rated four stars is due to a few store reps. They seem to expect that every musician is a professional. If you don't know something, a rep shouldn't talk to you like your dumb. They don't seem to be interested in anything you mention to them. I hate to say this, but it seems to only be about sales. If you're going to work customer service, do it because you like it, not just to make money. Keep in mind, this is only a "Few". Other than that, it's a great place. :) Their guitar techs did an awesome job with my guitars, by the way!

Definitely a great selection of guitars and drums. They even had the byzance cymbals in the cymbal room and let me test them out. The used gear they have was really well taken care of as well, they had a 5 piece DDrum set for a really nice price. Definitely going to visit these guys again!

Huge selection of anything a musician or avid listener of music could want. Their prices are very reasonable, and I believe they do have a price match guarantee as well. Every time I've been there the staff has been very welcoming and able to help with questions I have. However, I don't know if they are busy with things or other customers but occasionally when I come in and need to find something it can take some time to get help. That being said, the store is clearly labeled and separated into obvious sections so it is usually easy to know where to look for what you may need!

Nice selection of instruments but for other things like parts strings and attachment it seriously lacks. Prices are a lot higher than expected on used merchandise. The staff are always behind the counter and there really isn't a whole lot of floor interaction. But volume keeps it going they do have a lot in a small space.

I went to this place for my SG repair. These guys do their best to help me save financially, with best quality. Employees are chill. For each visit, I got to learn something new about my instruments (personally). No hesitation needed to grab your favorite guitar and jam out with another fellow musician. Absolutely love love our piano instructor. Shannon is one of the best instructors at Guitar Center. Our son isn't the easiest person to teach a new skill too, especially when he doesn't want to participate in his lesson for the day. However, Shannon is excellent with him. I traded in old pedals that I wasn't using and got a fair deal for all of them. The staff was also very knowledgeable in helping me find parts for various guitar hot rodding projects. They have a lack luster pickup selection though, and that's my only small criticism.

Bought an acoustic guitar here and as I was returning it due to finding a better deal online, the employees were able to do a price match with a bundle. I got the guitar, case, stand, picks, tuner, and polish w/ cloth. Very friendly staff, and they answer any question you have to the best of their knowledge even the most absolute beginner questions. Wish drums can hack away like everybody else in the store but you can sell beat up equipment. Overall, smart and decent staff who are well versed in what is good equipment versus bad. Plus, knowledgeable of great applications of almost everything in store and can take you from novice to intermediate in a few short trips

It's a big box store that sells guitars, basses, keyboards, and drums. Lots of low end and mid-range gear. No vintage gear. Nothing unusual. I was vacationing in Virginia Beach, and came upon an opportunity to purchase a used bass guitar. The guy selling it didn't have an amplifier for me to test it. I certainly wasn't going to buy a used bass without being able to hear it, so the guy recommended that I go to Guitar Center and ask them to let me test it there. At first I thought to myself; oh, they're not going to help me buy a bass from someone else, but the dude said that he bought the bass there two years before and it's a really good store and he always had great service from them; so I called and got the guitar tech Ron on the phone . I explained to him what was going on and he said yeah bring the bass over and if I'm not here anyone in the store will be happy to help you. So I brought the bass over and Ron and Mark both checked it out for me. Ron showed me how the dials worked and Mark assured me that the price the guy was asking for it was fair. They didn't charge me anything . It is so refreshing in this day and age to meet a couple of true professionals who are doing what they love and loving what they do! Both Ron and Mark went out of their way to assist me, even though I wasn't buying the bass from them; for that I am very grateful. They just seem very happy to do it and I wound up buying a gig bag for the bass just to show my appreciation. This place is fantastic. I am a UK visitor and I have visited 3 GCs, one in SF, one in Denver, and the one in VB. The service has been uniformly excellent across shops and purchases have ranged from the tiny (Ebow) to significant (PRS guitar at VB). The manager at VB was very welcoming and helpful with purchase. When I came to pick it up, the other staff gathered round to admire my (faded blue burst) PRS and even took photos as I'd ordered it in, especially. I got a fabulous discount on extra stuff, over Black Friday weekend, even though my voucher was strictly applicable. The manager also helped me out with a travel difficulty, helping me to get on my way again, and even drove me locally in order to sort it out. Honestly, I wish we had stores like this in the UK. Every one I have visited has a huge stock and the staff have been universally friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Couldn't ask for more.

Pretty good store overall. I like how they've expanded their used inventory over the years and give fair prices on trade ins. They have a lot of staff who have been there for several years and they're very helpful. Their biggest local competitor is Alpha Music, but I typically go to Guitar Center for the atmosphere and customer service. It's rare to be greeted at Alpha, they have hardly any used items, and you can't try an item without staff over your shoulder and the whole store hearing you play. I recently purchased a used amp from another Guitar Center and had it shipped to the VB store. They were friendly when I picked the amp up and even helped put it in my car.

Purchased a digital 88 key piano here after internet research indicated they had models I had searched. Went to other shop, called a few, but got the best info from Guitar Center. They had the best in stock inventory. Their keyboard display setup is the best. Set up & powered up to play with benches, clear, clean signage listing features and price, and 4 people could be shopping at the same time. Kbds are stacked 2-3 high and face in 4 directions. You circle around and compare as you play. Another room had controller kbds and work stations. Lots of other stuff I didn't look at. After playng the piano and comparing touch and sound, I settled on one that was more expensive than the one I had shopped online, but totally met my needs. Clerk was knowledgeable, helpful, checked me out quickly, and took the heavy box on a cart to my car. He figured how to put this over 5' long box into my Honda Civic hybrid where the back seat does not fold down. Easily slid out on a cart when I got to work. Would go back for any kbd related items. Surprised a guitar shop had such a good kbd shop. Curb side free small parking lot, (maybe there's more on the side), shop signage is memorable and easily seen from VA Beach Blvd. If you miss it, you're really not paying attention.
