I read a one star review that said not to go to Birdland Music unless you wanted treated badly. Well, I just visited Birdland Music for the first time and and was treated like an old friend. Barry, the owner, greeted me when I first walked in and offered to help me find something and after I told him I was just browsing he pretty much left me to it. He would occasionally ask if I was doing okay but let me browse. After I had pulled a couple albums out, he would ask pertinent questions about my selection and then offer recommendations. He was very helpful and I will definitely stop by again the next time I’m in town. I bought four new albums.

I love Birdland music. I’ve been going to Birdland since the early 80’s. They had vinyl’s ,8 tracks and tapes. The owners have always been so kind to me. I bought my first Misfits album there. 1st Metallica album. I bought the 2 Live Crew album the week it came out and a big group of us listened to it together like we were all committing felonies haha Thank you Birdland for helping to make my childhood amazing!

I had such an awesome experience. They had helped me figure out an issue I was experiencing with two records and a turntable. Issue was resolved by purchasing a better turntable. I purchased one from them and had no regret! Thanks Birdland Music. You guys are my go-to record store. :)

My wife and I went in there tonight so she could get started on her vinyl collection. Both employees were super helpful and awesomely fun to talk to. My wife has been going there for a couple years off and on to get hard to find CD albums, so when she got herself a new record player she wanted to go there first to get some vinyls. No matter what she said, whether it was an artist or a track off a particular album, they knew exactly which album it was and where to find it! In the end we ended up with a lot of great albums, even some first presses for a really great price! Will definitely continue going there for future album needs.

Best record store ever. Barry knows his merchandise and he gets to know you and what you like. His recommendations are spot on! Been in business forever and hope it is always there. He will order anything you want. If you live in the Norfolk area he can deliver it to Naro Video on Colley Avenue for you to pick up there. If I could give it 100 stars I would. Always the best experience shopping there. Worth the drive to Virginia Beach. Oh, and the prices ... Can't be beat!!

They have an amazing selection of vinyls here as well as CDs. They have anything from old school to new day stuff. Everything is fair priced. If you are looking for a turntable for your records then you will be able to get them here as well. The owner is very willing to help you figure out how the store is laid out and if your looking for something in particular he may know if it's in his stock and where at. Nice calm relaxing atmosphere as well.

Whenever I visit Virginia Beach I have to go to Birdland Music. They have a large selection of CD's, and if they don't have what you're looking for they will special order it for you! Very friendly and helpful staff.
