I could just stay here forever. I remember being a kid and driving past this store seeing all the clear colorful drums. 25 years later I got some.
Aaron Lehman
Great selection of instruments and effects, very knowledgeable and helpful staff, and a frequently updated website showing the current inventory. I’ve gone here a ton of times and I’ll keep coming back. I really appreciate this store and the staff, and for that reason it’s my primary/go-to spot for any music gear.
Peter Southwell
Ive been buying instruments here sense 2006. The place is really really awesome. Ive heard comments the guys that work here can be rude... Well they are.. but name one guitar worker that isn't?
A guy doesn't spend 10 years getting good at guitar to sell them behind a cash register.. So yeah.. They're a bit disgruntled... But same as any guitar store.
To they're defense though.. They get a LOT of odd characters... Street guys that mess with the instruments and don't buy them..> Guys that show up and treat the entire guitar store like open mic night.
I found if I treated the guys respectfully... Realizing hey this dude actually can play guitar so give him a little cred.. I get great service.
The instruments are unusual and awesome... This is a great place. Real musicians go to the store and real musicians work there.
Comments about gear.. Dude.. They sell used gear.. They're not there to collect your guitar. If they can make some money they're in... And that's how business works. Try selling to guitar center.. Then you'll understand being ripped off for the price.
Ryan Schump
Really welcoming and friendly staff. Went here to get a string replaced on my guitar. Much cheaper than other places in seattle. Definitely willing to come back for my music needs.
Ben
this store may be the best store i’ve ever been in. knowledgeable real people who love their craft. thanks for selling me a bass a year ago i have really appreciated this place as a local resource. cheers
Giselle Santamaria
This place is incredible. Here you can find all kind of instruments for playing music. There are a huge variety of options. Very cleaned and organized. The staff is wonderful. They gave us very good suggestions about what we were looking for. For someone who enjoys playing an instrument and is in search of a good one, I think this is the right place. Everyone was keeping social distancing and wearing a mask. This is important nowadays.
Phage Maleficar
Iconic place. Huge selection, lots of weird instruments, something for everyone. People who work there are pretty nice and friendly most of the time. They once fixed my pickups for free cus I was always shopping there. Great place.
Steve Barnes
One of my favorite music stores. Amazing selection. Reasonable prices. Friendly staff. They don't have many music stores like this left in the country. Higly recommend you support them!
ShaunBob skynard
Great collection of gear. Especially you into vintage guitars. And synths. Helpful and friendly crew. I like this old sma whole lot. They have new and used gear. But sell trade, that kind of thing
Jan Muylle
I just love this shop. I was looking for affordable rentals to perform in Seattle and I found what I was looking for and more. You notice right away that this is a store by and for musicians. Kudos!
Steven Maiden
Ben is on point. Fast, polite, very efficient. Don't buy drums anywhere else. I'll be back for guitar gear soon!
Michael Lawrence
Cool place with lots of good used gear. I bought a used Fender bass amp here and I love it. The employees could be more enthusiastic though. Seems like they just want to go home. Take pride in your job and being a part of the local music scene. Being apathetic about your job will drive your business straight to Guitar center.
Overall, good experience.
Alex Bailey
Pretty good pedal selection. Super friendly staff. Electric guitar selection was alright. The acoustic room was nice with some great value pick ups, but they have an oddly large amount of Washburns. Nothing against them, but I'd like to see more variety in brands.
Also, a surprisingly large amount of guitars were out of tune. It gets annoying having to tune every guitar you try out. One or two is okay, but I played maybe 20 guitars in total and probably about 12 were out of tune. Not the best image for upkeep of guitars.
Erik Moorhouse
The staff was super friendly and gave me the chance to try out the instruments that I was interested in. Prices are fair in there and they have a lot of stuff. Settled on this one and it sounds great. Stoked
Robert Pratt
Great service and really helpful staff. Love Trading Musica and highly recommended.
Alan Jacobson
Great service and neat atmosphere and a tiny bit of vinyl for sale
2468wdwa1
Cool music shop, staff was a bit inattentive, but perfectly nice and helpful when approached
Paul Werner
What a great place to find virtually any musical instrument or accessories you need. We came in to browse and left with a new guitar, balalaika and some other goodies.
A Seattle institution located near Green Lake and the University of Washington.
Great service and a wide selection make this the go to place for all you're musical needs!
Spiratus Treviso
Really great people who care about music and musicians. A music store that truly caters to the gigging musician with top notch instruments that are priced reasonably... No gouging going on here! These guys are just awesome. Thank you for the amazing Ludwig Hammered Bronze Snare Drum. It was priced fairly and the shipping was reasonable. The drum was expertly packaged to withstand the delivery process and it arrived in perfect shape, just as described. This was a really fantastic buying experience. It's a gem! 5 Stars!!!
Amy Denio
I have been coming to The Trading Musician for many years and always find delightful surprises here. Great staff and selection of instruments. Support a fantastic local business!
Abhikalp Unakal
The best place to come chill with your musical friends !! Definitely gonna go again !! Full of character and really friendly staff
John Liles
Oh... how quickly your paycheck could disappear here! Lots amazing goodies.
fake name
i sold a used synth here today and it only took like 10mins, the store was cozy but lighting is a little harsh if u are photosensitive, since they have shade covers on the large windows it is dimmed natural light + flourescent. anyways everyone was super chill and i'm looking forward to coming back. You might wanna prepare to circle block for parking, but if you cant find any, flip a u and look for curbs in the residential area down raevanna.
Craig Woodall
Awesome prices. Great selection. Thanks guys.
Majora320
Went in first to browse, then a second time to buy one of their guitars. The staff were super helpful throughout and very knowledgeable. I called in at one point to ask questions and they were happy to answer them. Their prices are reasonable as well. Overall, a great experience with a great local shop.
Gretchen M
Great, professional yet laid back store. Went to sell my guitar. They gave me a fair price. It looks like they have a very large selection of acoustic guitars.
Emmett Y
Bought a guitar from them a week or two ago and I'm still impressed. The employees really know their stuff and they're super chill. Not only is the store itself homey to any musician, but the employees make it so much better by their kind and welcoming personalities. They have a wide selection of instruments, equipment, and accessories. You can never go wrong with The Trading Musician.
Brennan Weiding
Staff members are incredibly helpful & full of info about all of the products they have. If they can't answer questions immediately, they are very quick at reasearching recommending people and other businesses who can. Trading Musician is & remains an absolute Seattle Staple!
Diego Figueroa
This store has it all. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly and their gear is really cool (prices are pretty reasonable too). I’m never buying gear from any other store again. This will always be my go to store as long as I live in Seattle.
David Daniels
Went in looking for a tuning machine for my old Takamine and they had a great deal on a set of barely used Grover's. For the first time in a dozen years, I can tune my guitar without using a pair of pliers!
Good sized store, good selection, helpful staff. Exactly the sort of place every musician needs.
Marshall Bender
Amazing place, great selection of instruments of all kinds. Their guitars especially are fantastic. Also, they will accept a lot of things for sale or trade! They will definitely be getting my business for as long as I live in Seattle.
Edit: I just recently went about purchasing a full guitar rig. I got a 4x12 cab at Trading Musician which was unfortunately too loud for my home and my roommates, but it was amazing and only $199!! I took it back and exchanged it for a smaller 1x12 and a combo amp for my room. Their exchange and return policy is one of the best in Sesttle. Amazing service and great workers. A gem in the Seattle music scene. I will be coming back here for my future needs, including cables and effects pedals. They have it all!!
Patrick Walker
Love this place. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, fair prices. Large assortment of instruments and gear. Bought a guitar - setup was perfect, sounds great.
Ross V
Always worth a drop-in visit to see what's hanging on the wall or lurking in the pedal case.
Eric Wardisko
Sold me a banged up guitar that I liked but the headstock fell off after about 6 months. I freaked out but they traded it out for a new guitar and put the cost of my case and strap towards the replacement so I actually came out with a much better guitar than what I purchased originally. Knowledgeable staff who are remarkably tolerant of children with drumsticks and there are always a couple of really weird synths to poke at. One of my fav places in Seattle to idle away time and spend money. And the bathroom has really tacky Jesus poetry.
Eli Someck
The staff here is remarkably helpful, honest, and patient and there's a wide variety of guitars and other instruments. They let me play different guitars for literally hours and answered all my questions. They have guitars from about $200 to thousands so there's something for everyone.
Ideal place to buy used instruments or gear - got a guitar case for only $50 and an amp for only $40.
Highly recommend!
Dharmageek
A fun place to look for bargains of used instruments in very good condition. Bargains do exist and it is nice to see them open again after being closed for awhile. Glad they are still with us! - Don't forget to check upstairs for percussion instruments - they have some unique new percussion elements as well. - Definitely worth the hassle to find a parking place on the street.
Robert Clyde
Love the place. Good deals with a wide range of equipment.
David Beckett
Really helpful and passionate folks. Made selling my amp easy and enjoyable, and they gave me a reasonable amount for it too.
Craig Curran
It's now the most reasonably-priced instrument (drums, amps, keys guitars, acoustics, pedals, etc) store in the PNW that sells a ton of 'affordable vintage' (70s stuff, 80s stuff occasional '60s), as where every other music store is now either Guitar Center (with all new stuff) OR shops selling '50s and '60s guitars worth in the tens of thousands of dollars.
It is truly unfortunate that there aren't more stores like this around anymore.
A
Went in today to sell my guitar. Nice people and great vibes. I was able to tell right away that these people truly love and care about music from how they handle instruments and talk to their customers.
Max Holmberg
This store is an absolute gem for any musicians in the Seattle area. While there are other great local music stores like American Music, no other store carries anywhere near the amount of unique and custom secondhand instruments they do. Trading musician also has woodwinds, brass, and violin family instruments in addition to keys/guitar/bass/drums/electronics.
Lando Diaz
From one musician to another, get here the first chance you get. They truly are about trading and will give you a fair deal on anything buying or selling. They'll be upfront, welcoming and unpretentious and answer questions if you have them. Their selection is the best of vintage and if you have a price range, they can find you something good. If you're looking for a real specific part, you might at least give them a call. Go in if you need a project, or just to browse. They have an entire floor for percussion, and a great acoustic instrument room. Hella synths and pedals too. Wear a mask and sanitize your hands on the way in and browse safely during quarantine. Never, ever leave disappointed. Never, ever go to the Wal-Mart of music stores down the street, where you can't get any of what I mention here.
Aydan Gooneratne
Bought a guitar + case for the summer. I got a reasonable return price and the buy back process was quick and easy. Nice staff too, definitely recommend this place!
Elton Hoody
They've been super kind to me in the past. They gave me an acoustic guitar for free when I was at one of my lowest points in my days and sold me an ovation celebrity electric acoustic for 60 bucks when my cash status was less than 100.
Dan Underkofler
Always a fun an interesting selection for whatever your instrument may be. Staff is super helpful and willing to assist! Fixed two old vintage pedals I had in 10 minutes for a super great price. These guys know what they're doing! Check em out, you won't be disappointed!
David Schanen (musicscene)
What a great store, providing IRL service, hands on music discovery! Instruments of all kinds, amps, speakers, pretty much everything you can think of an repair and tune up service as well. Go hang out, compare mics, keyboards, guitars, beat on a variety of drum kits, try before you buy! Have fun! :)
Scott Lake
This place is outstanding for the variety of usable vintage music gear they have and for the helpful staff. I was visiting town and thought I would check them out. While they did not have the bridge part for the vintage Harmony guitar I am refurbishing, they worked really hard trying to see if they had something that would be useful. If I’m in Seattle again, I will absolutely make room in my luggage for some treasure I will find here! Seattle is lucky to have a store like this.
Eric Herod
I love this place. I always come across vintage equipment in this store that I have never seen before. There is almost always something new on the shelf every time I visit. The staff has always been pleasant and helpful and they play cool music on their stereo. My only complaint (and this is really small) is that they don't have a good selection of really thin guitar picks with grips on them. I can get them elsewhere but would like any excuse to visit this store.
Conor Watters
Best place in Seattle to shop for vintage used gear. I fully intend to support by purchasing a piece. I encourage you to do the same. We need this place to have patronage to keep it!
David Guzman
They got it all, good price and friendly people...the drummer upstairs named Remy is super good and kind...kind of freaks me out but other than that its sweet
Robert Lane
Knowledgeable and musician friendly!
I bought my bass from these guys and they were really great about answering my questions and letting me try out several before I made my choice. Lots of great equipment and their prices wont leave a dent in your wallet. New and used stuff, even project pieces. You'll find something you're looking for here.
Chris Lagueux
This place has an incredible selection! Employees go out of their way to answer questions and help you out. They give their honest opinions about gear and value, which is so important. Never felt like I was being upsold, actually was downsold to a cheaper product, which the employee even made me a deal on and it was perfect for my needs! Support your local music store, check this place out!
Amanda Heminger
Love the atmosphere in this place. As soon as you walk in, you can feel instantly that you're surrounded by people that really love music. All music stores are great, but there is something magical about a place with a common love at it's core instead of corporate greed, you know?
Aria Blair
These people are patient and wonderful. Lovely rotating selection, and lots of parts and fun things. They are also very forgiving!! I managed to break a string on a guitar because I didn't know how a floyd rose works, and they were nothing but kind.
greg schultz
Musicians supporting musicians they really care and do their best to help
Deep Kapur
Wide variety of instruments available and helpful staff make this a fun place to visit! Main thing to bear in mind is most things can't be sold officially within 30 days of them being received / available for sale, so you may end up buying something and need to wait a few weeks to take it home. Well worth a trip for any (aspiring) musicians in the area.
Robert Hill
I love this shop. Trading Musician has all the soul and feeling that music shops used to before all the small shops started closing. Used parts, vintage amps and guitars. Their acoustic room is cool, too. Also, don't miss the drum section, upstairs. Parking can be right in the city. Please be respectful of the neighborhood.
Edit: shop, not ship. Oops.
B. Quinzel Montemagno-Rozhon
Place is pretty legit AF, I love going here. Owner can be a tad bit off putting to deal with at times and prices are a bit high/Geetar Center esque. But it won't stop me from going here first.
Patricia Cavanaugh
The staff here are very knowledgeable while also speaking in approachable terms for beginners. We went in looking for a starting snare drum for our daughter and they set us up with the perfect used drum, they didn't try to upsell us at all, totally worked within our set limits. They had lots of great stuff at a variety of price points.
Winthrop B (Win)
LOVE this place! Good prices, good selection, guitar and strings downstairs huge drum room upstairs. They also gave me the name and number of the best person to fix my tablas in the NW. Love this place and you will too
Ian Sides
Always a great experience. I've bought several instruments, effects, cables, strings, etc. over the years and have had nothing but super friendly and helpful staff and more than fair prices. I've also had them repair amps over the years and they do great work that's way cheaper than am music!
Lei Edstrom
Super helpful staff who are friendly and knowledgeable. My son and I have been here several times and purchased various equipment. Every time he visits, they are always eager to help him find what he's looking for. Great variety and options for every budget. A Seattle favorite.
Tige DeCoster
One of the things I most admire about this music shop is that you aren't assaulted by the employees the moment you walk in; they allow the customer to fumble about on their own. Their selection of basses (my particular preference) are decent, with a narrow, but unusual selection of left-handed instruments. They often have good basses at reasonable prices, and the occasional ancient Fender (priced accordingly). For those that like to beat on things like chimpanzees, they have an entire floor of drums and percussion. Parking can be bothersome, but the place is worth a go.
Antonio Knoy
I love to trade up here. Nice knowledgeable crew.
David French
Favorite music store ever. Constantly changing stock due to trade-ins and buys make this place interesting with every visit. The staff are super knowledgeable, the items they find are true gems, but they'll also find you an instrument, a part, or whatever you need within your price range.
Shann Parra
11🌟across the board..
My dad's old guitar that he gave my daughter & she passed down to my son, has been brought back to life & given back to him as a graduation gift, by The Great Keegan💖 A Wonderful human being💎 …
Anika Christian
This place is so awesome and local. You come in and you are talking to real people not people just forced to smile and help you. This place defines local. I come here every year for my brother's christmas gifts and the staff is always helpful. Its main focus is definately guitar and drums but it does sell other instruments as well. Altogether you are meeting knowledgeable honest people. When they didn't have a mute for a trumpet they didn't hesitate at all to tell me of the other local music stores that would. That is true customer service. I love this place.
B M
This place has pretty good deals on used music equipment. Got some violin and guitar strings there recently and one of the guit strings broke during installation. They replaced it no questions asked. Everybody here appears to be decent, customers and staff alike.
Stone Age
good staff, good stuff, good budget. Mostly used gear. A perfect music store. Possibly my favorite place in Seattle.
Raphael Puletz
Super cool, chill place with tons of antique/used and new gear. Guitars, band equipment, basses, amps, and keyboards. It's like a one stop shop with so many other options like records and accessories for anything music!
Super knowledgeable staff and really great vibe.
I AM Yisrael
This place is a Treasure Troll for average musician and professional musician they were able to Supply my every need for my Gibson Les Paul sunburst I also purchased a classic Ovation acoustic I find enjoyable.
Lo Hp
Best place in Seattle for unusual music gear! Inventory is always changing so every visit is worth the trip.
Chris McAllister
Always helpful but never hovering. Great insight on many different types of audio equipment. Helped me get a synth and guitar pedal that I use on just about every track now!
Stephen Hunt
Definitely chill atmosphere, staff jam hard, lots of odds and ends definitely some noteworthy equipment in this store. Used to window shopping, so it is a killer establishment when you answer to no man or quota, do and let do.
Marie Harang
Brought down some old instruments, one a bit obscure, that needed a new home. They were quick to answer my phone call and all of my questions, and when I came to the store processed my instruments in a timely fashion. I felt I was paid fairly for what I traded in, and I am happy to know some old instruments will find a new home. Happily recommended for second-hand instrument trading.
Matt Dees
Lots of great vintage gear at a reasonable price. Sales associate was polite and didn't try to up sell.
Lots of great ukuleles, accordians and outer instruments that you won't find at guitar center.
Luke Delgado
Best selection of vintage/abstract instruments and effects pedals. Bought most of my equipment here. Not only is the staff kind, but very knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to any questions you may have. Excellent guitar technician. Bought a 1960s Decca guitar that needed electronics rewired, pots cleaned, and tremelo bar repaired, and the repairs costed $140 altogether! New stuff in store every week. I don't shop at any other music store besides this place.
Ursa major
Wonderful selection of all sorts of instruments, very friendly and helpful staff offer a wealth of knowledge and information for all of your musical endeavors.
I'm particularly impressed by the selection of percussion and string instruments they have, this is a good place to find uncommon and unique instruments.
Jack Noe
Great place to find used equipment. I've been here a few times and love the vibe. The staff are very knowledgable and friendly. Highly recommend this place if you have an interest in guitars.
Sean Fear
Prices are fair, staff is helpful you just need to ask. You could get more money and pay less on Craigslist but for the ease paying a bit more or getting a bit less can be worth it. My favorite place for used gear in Seattle.
Christopher Moore
Best used musical instruments store in Seattle. Friendly staff, good selection.
Ryan Townsend
These guys are fantastic. I always feel like they are just people who love instruments. Half the time when I go in there, I just have some obscure question that I couldnt find an answer to online, and they give me a bunch of tips.
Also used instruments always feel better. Show this place some love.
Eric Brooks
This is a neat local place where you can find your first guitar or a hidden gym. The selection of instruments is always changing, but always quality, and varies widely in price. The staff isn't always the most attentive, but the they are super helpful once engaged. The only draw back is that the small space can feel cramped with even a few other people in the store.
Shawn Hatfield
First time buyer, I'm on the East Coast. Purchased a pedal online that got here way quicker than expected, great packing, and better than described pedal. Thanks Trading Musician!
Kyra Kracher
I came in and got everything I was looking for. everyone there was extremely knowledgeable, kind, and helpful. I’m SO IMPRESSED. Bought a keyboard and I am so happy with everything they had to offer. If you are a musician this is a MUST go place.
Bill C
These folks have been great to me since the early 90's, but today was over the top. Short version: I just wanted some new strings put on my acoustic (I hate doing this myself = well worth $15). While they were getting started, I headed into the best room in the world where all the beautiful acoustic guitars live. I picked up a mahogany six string that had much lower action than my finger killing beast, yet was not buzzy at all. I asked if mine could be adjusted, and Dustin (who is ambidextrous) was summoned. He played the one I admired, took a quick look at mine and said, "No problem." Forty five minutes, and only forty-five dollars later, I had my guitar back with brand new strings and an amazing new play-ability! My guitar feels and sounds amazing. This will absolutely change the way I play and write.
If you've got callouses like elephant feet but still find your fingers hurting sooner than you like, come talk to these nice people.
Thanks very much,
Bill
Adam Schaefer
Stopped by while visiting Seattle to check out some LMS. Their used gear inventory is pretty good with prices ranging from OK market values to below market values. I had to call my friends and grab some used pedals from them because of the low prices. Overall good vibe, only downside is checkout is paper, no computer POS.
Robbie Lackey (DJ Avaunt)
First of all, I called Guitar Center of redmond asking if they could have a TC Helicon Voicelive 3 Extreme ($800 new) shipped to their store in 2 days. Online I was going to pay $59 for 2nd day overnight shipping.
I was coming in from out of town and needed the pedal for a gig on that Saturday. They could not complete this despite being able to do it online. I simply asked if the pedal could be tested before it was sent to the Remond location, so I would not be stuck with a faulty pedal. They said that is not possible.
I found a used version for $300 less at Trading Muscian in northeast Seattle. I called, and the clerk not only tested the pedal but held it for 3 days for me at no charge.
I was going to also purchase a small rehearsal PA, a new mic, cables and all that. At guitar center it would have been about 1500 bucks.
After seeing their location in person (trading musicians) they put together a nice, affordable p.a., helped me load all the gear into my car and I saved about $500.
Customer Service A+
Knowledge A+
Dealing with a guy in a hurry A++
I would recommend this place to any musician who does not mind used gear, and appreciates a musician's mindset.
When I have more time I will be returning to this place as often as I can. They even threw in several cables, pics, and more.
Outstanding job guys. Well done.
I will be exhausted tomorrow from spending all night rehearsing with the gear you set me up with last minute. You guys are stellar!
Jaakko Kuoppamaki
Friendly staff, great selection, you can always test stuff out and they even fixed my guitar for free! Best music shop in town
Juicy Jones
Is this the best place to get both your staple fear and funky hard to find guitars and goodies? Yes. We've bought acoustics, electrics, drum gear, pedals, the whole nine yards here. The door deals and sidewalk sales are some of the only things in Seattle that's still get me excited to leave the house.
Renae Allen
Steve in the drum department helped us build a drum set for our grandsons they are handicap and grampa is a drummer from back when the drummer was the best part of the 70s,80,,,& k90s. Ty so much Jeff and Renae Allen
Theodore Bridgman
One of my top music stores ever. Parts, repairs, weird stuff, and cheap stuff.
Good prices. Carry plenty of guitar gear and often unload entry-level pedals etc very cheaply (fun for those of us that like to experiment on a budget). Will reasonably haggle and trade.
Also have a good repair shop (fixed an amp that needed the board resoldered for $30 one time). Will sell pedal and guitar parts.
So far I've bought a microphone, a few pedals, a guitar, and an accordion from them, and each time it's been awesome.
Zero corporate-plastic fakery.
Legit the best.
Jake Light
I've been playing the drums my whole life and was visiting the lower 48 this last week. I have been in search of a 60s era Slingerland rack tom and they just so happened to have a few to choose from. This place is a gem and I dont feel that its appreciated enough. Thank you for all your help!
Andrew Knutzen
Went there to grab two guitar picks. Didn't have cash (they have a $5 cc minimum) so the guy have them to me for free. Thanks! Also all the staff were really friendly and helpful and encouraged me to play around on the instruments. I am very impressed with the Trading Musician.
Sanchit Batra
Loved the drumset collection, some good deals to be had if you're in the market. Lots of space to move around, unlike some music stores I've been to.
Sunny Dove
Well versed staff on all your musical needs...reasonable pricing for quality used gear...
Dustin Hoye
While it's true that these guys have gotten a little crankier over the years, I still go there. You have to understand that they provide a valuable service by offering a large selection of quality used gear that you can actually touch, play, demo, compare, etc. They're also in business to make a profit, so they can buy groceries, pay their rents, etc. They constantly have to deal with jerks (like me) who low/high ball them on deal offers and compare their prices to ebay, Google, Guitar Center, etc. They are picky about what they buy and they probably won't love your used gear as much as you do. They've turned down some of my junk and I've sold it elsewhere - no worries Mon!. I've also bought several pieces of gear there, and I find them to be fairly priced. If you just want to "nickel and dime" someone then go to eBay and leave these poor guys alone!.
Mark Piper
Been there a few times now to trade or buy and they have always been friendly and helpful. Tons of fun new and used gear.
Yannis Fyssas
I bought 3 instruments on my way back to Vancouver from Seattle. Staff was super helpful and personable. One of these items was a cuatro guitar that I was totally in love with and looked brand new without a scratch. Perhaps I should have been a bit more careful when I bought it.
After taking it home I found at the base it was smashed into several pieces with majors cracks but was obviously repaired so I figured no big deal.
Upon closer inspection I also noticed a large crack on the face of the guitar between the bridge and the bottom side. (See photo)
This crack actually goes through the guitar face and if a small amount of pressure is applied the guitar, it goes out of tune (think of it like a mini whammy bar).
I don't really want this guitar anymore and I think it's a bit dishonest to sell an item without mentioning this. Had this been Craigslist I would have been more careful, but this was a retail store so my guard was down.
I hope they take it back and refund me. That would be the right thing to do.
Here's hoping... !
[EDIT Nov 3 2017]
I waited too long to call back for a refund ( 3 days is the refund window) but after several phone calls and chatting with Ryan and Mr. V on email, they agreed to a full refund less return shipping since I was in Vancouver and driving back wouldn't make sense. I packed my Cuatro and shipped it off last week, today they refunded the money to my VISA, I don't have any reason to not give this store my highest recommendation for doing the right thing.
I'll be back !
Nathan Sinclair
Everyone who works here is super nice, and helpful. This store also has a wide variety of instruments. I'd definetly recommend going here if you're looking to sell an instrument, or buy one!
Joe Gabaldon
One of the cornerstones for music in Seattle. Great prices, lots of interesting instruments, quick rotation and friendly staff members. Multiple options for payment including paypal and they also stand behind their sales with patience and professionalism.
molly jensen-roe
The trading musician is a wonderful place for that special someone in your life who loves to play guitar...all kinds of guitars electric , acoustic, or bass...they have drums , amps , fiddles just to name a few..so stop bye today and see what they have online at the trading musician
Nick Villa
Pretty laid back drum department. Was able to get myself a good pre-owned snare to replace my old one. Thanks guys!
Sam Bowerman
Hands down the best shop in Seattle for all things music. I’ve never had a bad experience and always feel welcome in the store.
Matt Bloch
Sweet selection of instruments and nice staff. Love supporting local music shops.
John P. McCarter
If your going here to get parts for your guitar better have it with you other wise they'll talk you into buying the wrong part I am just saying? I learned my lesson the expensive way
Justin Howard
This is my favorite most well rounded music store and best place for misc parts. Most of the staff are very friendly and super helpful. Decent prices on most gear.
Anthony Fantozzi
As far as I know, this is the only independent musical instrument store in Seattle. Huge selection for such a small space. Fantastic used and vintage collection!
Oliferous McMayoFist
Everyone there is super helpful. You'll never get the feeling like they're trying to rip you off for anything, buying or selling. My go to music shop for anything I need, from picks and strings to pedals and guitars!
Jim Hudson
I went in to shop for a cymbal stand for my granddaughter. The prices were very good on the used stands so I ended up getting some for myself along with hers. Good friendly service and will shop again.
Patsy Foosnes
Not buying anything currently I felt as tho he was just saying that to me
Matthew Stott
Great selection of used items. Very helpful staff. Laid back vibe. Come here if you’re just starting out or a seasoned vet.
Jordan Bayles
Killer music store. Went in to get my guitar repaired--repair staff here is very good. Excellent instrument selection at reasonable prices, definitely recommend stopping in
w
Really great staff and great guitars , I got a really awesome acoustic for only 100 bucks that would normally be 400 and it was very lightly used
Chris Balducci
Folks here are great! Solid place to track down some used (and new) gear.
Ab C
Don't expect to sell your gear here cause these guys were not even cordial about looking at gear. Maybe I caught like ten employees on the wrong day, but not impressed. However they do have a lot of different stuff. So maybe you can find what you're looking for.. .if no where else
Frenchie
Staff rocked, I don't have enough money for all that I want from here. I'll be back...
BJ Neblett
Great place for used equipment. Ver friendly atmosphere and help. Highly recommended!
Christo Roberts
Such a great store. Staff was super knowledgeable and helpful. Fantastic experience!
Katherine Dutton-DeWitt
They were very helpful and were pretty fair in pricing.
Gabe Herbert
The kind of place you want to stop by every few days to see what new gear has shown up. There's a strong community vibe here, and the staff tend to be awesome people. Check here first.
Preston Hardwick
Great Customer Service! Weiiiiiird Gear! Retro Casios, weird guitar pedals, lots of rack gear! What's not to love? When I visit Seattle I'll be back!!!
Aaron Hatch
All the folx here are super awesome, friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. There is always a great selection of equipment no matter what you need and the pricing is great!
Djivan Abkarian
Nice crew and nice gear !
Allen Woods
Taking a star off because most of the time you will not find a deal here. If you are looking to score Eurorack stuff this isn't the place for you. If you are looking for UAD-2, RME, N-I, or anything of that caliber, they don't carry that here. But if you're into retro stuff and like to collect esoteric racks, keyboards, or stomp pedals to explore your own sound, this is your hallowed ground.
Paris Fletcher
Best ever friendly solved my problem fast and cheap. Wish I could remember the guys name who fixed my tuning peg!😁😁 …
Nathan Franke
I went here for a tuner (whatever Snark doohickey they happened to have). They had one, but they were selling them for $20, almost double what other places sell them for.
They have a decent selection of books for banjo and mandolin (these are inexpensive/msrp), in addition to a massive list of guitar books.
Acoustic instruments: lots of guitars, even more ukes and as many mandos, and a handful of banjo family members. As a banjo guy, it's this last that matters. I saw a banjitar, a messed up banjo-uke (friction style tuning pegs that couldn't hold GCEA), several 5-string banjos, most with resonators, and several tenor/plectrum and short scale banjos. The banjos, ukes, and mandolins were priced fairly (except for the banjo-uke--that should have been given away).
Free stickers.
James Dean
One of Seattle's best shops hands down. Good quality new or used, great variety, no pressure staff. If you need "it", they probably have you covered..
Thomas Hong
Just happened to be looking around the internet and the Mastertone Dulcimer I have been looking for appears! Placed the order and it arrives securely packed and ready to play. Scott was direct and helpful buying sight unseen. Cheers!!!
Josh Lind
Staple resource for musicians in Seattle. Find a pedal you didn't know you needed or didn't think you could afford otherwise. The guitar room is sealed so you can test without awkwardness. Upstairs is all drums.
Killasloth710
Awesome store to jam out. Great people & atmosphere. I like to stop by when I get the chance every now and again as they always have something interesting
Justin Lim
Locally owned, friendly service, great knowledge of their work and the local music scene. Lots of unusual used stuff, too!
David Preston
I needed a small, quick fix for my guitar and they took care of on the spot for a great price!
g bc
Remy should really change his last name to "More-It," because Trading Musician def needs more of it, as in Remy. I went in with my drummer (we play def leopard covers, but only their 1977-81 discography) and I was really very impressed at Remy's professionalism and knowledgism. He got us the right sticks with the right touch and the right accomadatings for Gary (th e drumer) rock on rem. hope bididat takes of!
Keith Beesley
Good place to shop for inexpensive musical instruments. Inspect carefully before you buy; some may not be in as good condition as claimed.
Kitten Meowz
Very good selections on drums and keyboards. The staff are very knowledgeable about what they are doing. The staff even taught me how to tune my drums the right way.
Megan Brandon
Items online not available at the price listed online - wildly overpriced as compared to the online listing. Very dudely and not very welcoming.

Tibirius Hu
It's like music stores before Ebay and Craigslsit. If you sell them something, they will give you 50% of what they can sell it for. If you're buying something, you can barter 15-20% down. Or you can try a pawn shop...
geremy condra
