Reviews of Spin Cycle Records Movies and Games

I originally left a negative review due to a price on a game being misquoted when I called before coming in and being different when I showed up later that same day, but they responded with a straightforward apology and offered to make it right. After going through other reviews and seeing that it wasn't a pattern, it seemed like a genuine mistake. Super friendly staff and a nice place with a cool vibe and fair trade in values. @SpinCycle No refund or anything needed, like I said in the original post it was only $10, and I'm happy to support local game stores! Thanks for offering to make it right though, it was the principle that mattered!
Cade Scott
Loved it! My first time visit and I was so happy they were there (after the closing of so many stores this last year's time). I bought some movies on disc. Great selection of those! Not too many games. Tons of records (don't forget to go down the stairs and see more records & R2D2). A very "Seattle, neighborhood store" feel. I highly recommend a visit!
Nitha Inthavong
I recently picked up a Stevie Wonder Fulfillingness First Finale record solely based on an employee recommendation and it’s my new favorite vinyl, I’ve been playing it non-stop. Thank goodness for the person with great taste, sorry I didn’t remember your name. You’ve made my week!
Maxxwell Denton
Spin Cycle is where I get all of my new and used Blu-ray's/DVD's. And there has never been an issue playing them. And though I can't play albums or video games, I can say their collection is extensive. With a super awesome staff, I feel comfortable promoting them. Though with everything reasonably price, you will end up walking out with more than you planned on getting.
Donald Stewart
Live this record store -- carefully curated with a great selection of well priced old and new vinyl. Sections of local artists as well in a number of popular music genres from jazz to rap to metal.
Smevin Bravis
Dangerous! Solid selection of music, movies, and video games with super reasonable prices. I went in while my wife was shopping at Crossroads and I had to stop myself before I did too much damage! Could've easily walked out with a couple stuffed bags. Very friendly staff, too. As if Capitol Hill wasn't already charming enough... will definitely pop in again next time we're in the city!
Paige Converse
You can find just about any band here you can think of, and it isn't all serious collector pricing. There are bins of pre-grunge Seattle bands that really ought to be preserves forever, and Spin Cycle gives anyone with a turntable and computer that opportunity.
Tanya Dean
Wonderful place for collectors of various types of media and style. Seriously, they got a little bit of everything!
Dominic Gill
The bad- kinda slow appraising movies to sell, refuse to let you use the bathroom while you wait, no parking, not quite rude but not friendly either. The good- they give you a super fair amount of cash, way more than I expected.
Kevin Jabroni
Been my favorite Seattle based record store since day one of it opening. I can’t think of a better place in town to buy tapes or movies and the video game and record selections are pretty good, too. The prices are undoubtedly the best in town and even trading in here gets you more than anywhere else. The biggest reason to go here would be the staff though because they only seem to hire people with great personalities that will usually cut you a deal if you’re working within a budget. I hope this place lasts forever.
Crvo
Fun selection of vintage video games and vinyl. Enthusiastic staff is worth it to query for advice or favorites. A good place to buy, and a fair place to sell. On my most recent visit, two different times I gasped audibly as I found records I've been looking for, but had no actual hope of finding in the wild. Both priced VERY well.
Rik Schutte
I find it hard not to pop in here when I'm passing. The selection is always great, and the organisation makes a quick look viable. I've bought more things off the wall in this record shop than any other. Staff are always friendly and welcoming.
Diego Dagum (Diegum)
Nice assortment of records. Staff is very friendly. I wish they offered parking, though.
Bob Jones
Quite possibly the greatest record ever to exist. All the employees are cool enough to know most of the music they sell, but not so cool that they won't tell you about it and help you find something that you'll like. Their video game selection is focussed on good titles and nearly devoid of shovel ware.
Great trade in values. If you like music, movies and games, then go here now.
Sean Goff
Hands down the absolute best used media store in the PNW. Fantastic staff with excellent recommendations. Premium selection of music, movies, and games at reasonable prices.
Brian Mills
Wouldn't expect it from a record store, but if you are video game shopping, or in town for Pink Gorilla, stop here FIRST! Their prices on used games/consoles are significantly better than most other shops around town! Don't skip it!
Jody Bardacke
My absolute favorite record store in the Northwest. I have been frequenting record stores since I was a kid and never have I found an owner or his staff so welcoming to both myself and everyone who walks in the door. The place is eclectic and full of wonders. Their tape selection is top notch, as are their dvds. I don’t play video games but if I did I’d get those there, too. Straight up the only record store I ever recommend to anyone.
Darryl Lewis
Great shop! Selection was dope. Got an Isley brothers and uncle Luke classic for a dollar each. I also got a limited pressed Mingus which I had to grab (my dad's uncle). If I didn't have a cappy on, I woulda got mad video games too. Service was great and the worker was very knowledgeable. I will definitely return when Im in town.
Andrew Schons
Super cool place with a ton of rad records and video games. The guy who runs the place is really nice and tries hard to make sure all your needs and questions are answered. Stop by if you're into cool stuff. They don't really sell any CDs, but their demographic is more of hardcore record collectors instead of casual CD listening. That said, they're very accessible and not at all snobby.
Margaret K
Exactly what you want from a local record store. Love when they’re playing music to the street
Mikiehl Kofoed
The selection is always great! I try to swing by this as often as I can 🙂 …
Kendra Ellis
I frequent this place about 3x a week. Super local record store. They also have video games. I don't play them so no idea on selection. The record selection is great for the store size. Organized, curated very well.
James Sovick
This place is amazing for records and cassette tapes. I get the majority of my tapes here and they have an amazing collection of retro to modern games. The staff is also really friendly and helpful. They also sell movies. You can even find anime on DVD here.
David Mosrie
Exactly what you would expect from an epic Capitol Hill record store. Some amazing finds
Samuel Gutierrez
Spin Cycle is one of my favorite record shops in Seattle. The selection is always filled with rare and hard to find LP’s, as well as all of the new releases you could want! The notes that the staff put on records is always helpful when I’m trying to decide between a couple of albums. Speaking of the staff, they are not only some of the most knowledgeable employees with a very broad and eclectic taste, but they are super friendly and helpful. On top of the great music selection, they also have an amazing selection of games and consoles from NES to PS4. Lastly and most importantly for me, they by far give the best value on trade-ins. Definitely my pick for best shop on the hill!
Alissa Pegram
This place is a rare find, not only is their selection amazing, but the staff is so so friendly. I met Jason (the owner) and he had so many amazing suggestions for music.
So kind hearted, he also gave my dog a treat!
This is the go to record store in Seattle
HLee Durgan
Spin Cycle is one of the best things that has ever happened to the Broadway strip and definitely the best thing since the current gentrification. The place has a wicked selection of materials on a wide range of media from multiple video game platforms from vintage to current, cassette tape, vinyl, DVD and they pedal in the vintage components to playing those media. They buy, sell, and trade on excellent terms and value anything of good condition and high quality. At the same time the store catches the vibe of Cap Hill in a way that somehow transmits the the history of the neighbourhood, although it has only been here for a few years now. It is one of the best record stores in the city.
Nicholas Kyriakides
A few years before he opened this shop, the owner tracked down an out-of-print movie I wanted,
after I mentioned I wanted it. He had kept that request in his head for a YEAR.
I find the owner and all of his staff to be friendly, and reasonable. Their prices are good on their
movies and games, and they are incredibly patient with their ''problem customers''.
I go here when I want to buy a movie as a gift, they do special orders if you pre-pay.
I would give this place 10 stars if I could.
Kirk Thomsen
Finding parking was a hassle. Finally parked, paid, then walked 3 blocks to the store. Decent selection of vinyl, not great quality though. I didn't find anything worth buying and I was never greeted or asked if I needed help. This isn't the norm according to the other reviews I've read. There are a lot of excellent places to shop for vinyl in Seattle, this just wasn't one of them for me.
John Carrico
Amazing local shop, stoked they have vintage games and movies. Check these guys out asap. Very solid prices too
Rayat R
Knowledgeable staff, super duper friendly and committed. Hyper diverse selection, from Meshuggah to Missy Elliott. Games and consoles too!
Jillian Fellers
I'm always amazed by the great finds in this store. It's like a scavenger hunt you didn't realize you were on until you walk away with all the prizes. The staff always takes the time to answer any questions I have and I always feel like I have their undivided attention. I am a fan of small business for this reason and they truly go above and beyond for their customers.
澁谷和俊
It’s the best place to buy second hand games with decent prices in Seattle.
I asked for some discount when purchasing several games at the same time and the guy happily accepted that.
I’ll definitely come back.
Bret Gardin
This place is amazing! The owner and staff are super knowledgeable and genuinely stoked to talk about all things media. Every time I'm in there I get awesome recommendations on albums, movies, and video games. And their stock is unbelievable - great selection of vinyl in tip-top shape (often with helpful blurbs written about them and notes about the artists), rare DVDs and Blu-ray, and vintage games - nes and snes cartridges, Xbox and playstation anything games, game boy, genesis! I refer anyone visiting Seattle to go to Spin Cycle, it really is the best record shoppe in the PNW.
David Rice
I love this place! They have so many options to choose from. From DVD's CD's cassette tapes blue ray that new 4k stuff records all kinds of movies tv series stand up comedy video games and consoles to go with them like super Nintendo and Sega genesis when I was dead broke man I couldn't picture THIS lol yeah but anyway great store I love shopping here definitely worth coming here YOU'LL find what you want here
Sarah Brady
I've been wanting to get into vinyl but didn't know where to start. The staff was incredibly helpful and helped me find a selection I'm really excited about. This place is the Seattle experience. Stop here for a great selection and super helpful staff!
Stabbey Abbey
Owner is amazing (I think he was the owner)
Super super kind, a giant ray of sunshine, and very very kind.
We did go during a bit of a remodel but still received amazing service and bought some cool vinyl!
Seth Lamb
Jason is the best! I have never had such a great time browsing through records. The service is unparalleled, the people friendly, the store Extremely well organized ... For a record store. I will Absolutely be back when I'm in town.
Hillary and Justin Gallego
Spin Cycle is the best. It's a beloved fixture of the capitol hill community. The people who work there are helpful and kind. The selection runs deep. Their soul and jazz sections are the best I've seen in the city. Visit this staple and get a feel for the real Seattle experience! Also - dog friendly!
Jo Mikesell
I love this place. There's always something interesting to pick up and they play great music on the street- great for Broadway ambiance. Also, I feel good for supporting a small local business in the age of Amazon.
Michael Matthews
Great vibe and nice taste in music which happens to spill out to the sidewalk and invited me in like an old friend. Vast collection of vinyl, dvds, games etc. Friendly service.
RetiredinSD
Checked in to B&B on Capitol Hill. Googled record stores near me and picked Spin Cycle at random and walked down the hill to find it. Browsed uninterruptedly for an hour and bought '70s Ambrosia and '80s Stranglers Dreamtime albums. Vinyl was in very good condition when I played them later at home in San Diego. Can't comment on any store personnel issues. I was pretty absorbed in looking at the stock. I am grateful places like this still exist and appreciate the people who care enough to make them happen.
Sabrina Bolieu
Spin Cycle is a centerpiece of arts and community in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood. It’s the best place in Seattle to buy, trade, and sell vinyl, casettes, DVD’s, and video games. I highly recommend this shop for audiophiles and music nerds! The sheer volume and diversity of selection is enough reason to check it out. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and customer service oriented. 10/10 would go back again!
Gabriela Park
Super central location - right off the Capitol Hill light rail station. Very knowledgeable staff! Great selection - I personally love that they stock older video games and consoles
Gabriella Bondurant
Love this place! Great selection, reasonable prices, and the staff are so welcoming and helpful! Helped me find some great albums! I would give this place 10 stars if I could!
Terry Blevins
Let me tell you , Jason the owner is the true embodiment of an entrepreneur. I live in the cornfields of Indiana and this kind gentleman goes out of his way to hold an album for me , a total stranger whom he has just met on the phone briefly, comes in on his day off to take care of me and ship out my beloved treasure if the past. Hope Seattle realizes what she has in the spin cycle...Chef Michael Peace
Bryan Edenfield
I once read a story about telephones here. I also bought three to five records I really enjoy, including a Silver Apples record. We don’t need to talk about that. I’m convinced that if I hunt here long enough I’ll find that record that doesn’t exist and then I’ll have proof, ha! See! It does exist! And then I’ll try to play it for my
Comrades and all they will hear is the universe expanding and then they’ll say, is this some kind of joke, and then I spin around and around like a possessed devil. I mean this all as a compliment. Find secret things no one will believe in but you.
Gary Campbell
Easily the best vinyl record store in Capitol Hill. A great place to find gems, rarities, and classic video games, too. Definitely check it out
Chris Rosenlof
This place is great! Always something new for me to take home from movies, games, and music. I make a point to stop by whenever I'm in the neighborhood and you should too!
Vi Tranchemontagne
Hands down my favorite record store in the city! They've got a great selection of new and used records, and the people who work there are delightful. I'd give it 6 stars if I could!
Mowgli
I love this space and their selection of items. I've bought video games and vinyl here. The staff is always pretty friendly.
Joseph Hehle
Great little shop. Both my 19 year old daughter and 17 year old son who is on the autism spectrum alway enjoy Jason and his staff. Can’t wait for our next visit.

joseph reed
Recommended great artists related to my tastes. Felt like I left with the best stack of records I could hope for. They even helped me ship to my home using the post office nearby for cheap.
James Bennett
Fantastic shop with a well curated used and new selection of records. Also selling used video games and movies. Good prices and knowledgeable, friendly staff make this THE go to record shop in the neighborhood.
James Dean
Wonderful neighborhood record store vibes with great selection. Always playing good music for Broadway!!
Wes M
I went here for records. A decent selection. Ended up digging through the 45s on the ground and found some nice things that were priced in a good range. Overall, I'd stop in again if I am in Seattle.
Black Power 45
I was upset about not getting an RSD item I waited for at a diffeent Seattle store and while looking online i saw Spin Cycle had one up at more than retail. I sent a message that vented and got a response from Danny. I was out of line.and he was rightly upset that I misinterpreted what was going on. Even though I was wrong we worked it out like adults and he was kind enough to sell me the record at it's original price. I just couldnt fathom they didnt sell instantly like they did.at Soniv Boom. Thank you.for working with me and I hope we can get past this and continue to forge a mutually beneficial relationship with you continuing to supply me with fairly priced records. Also, he had two other rsd titles in stock that i was shocked didnt sell. This will be my first stop next year.
Eugene Nichols
Awesome little shop with a clever name! Have known the owner and staff for years! Great selection of records, dvds, games, and even cassette tapes!
tonja Warner
This place is great! The owner used to manage a much loved record store that had been on Broadway years ago and thank goodness that he used his great love of movies and music to open this place...
Erin Taylor
I love this place! They consistently have a great selection despite the relatively small size of the store, and the staff are always super friendly + helpful if you have questions.
Adam Mason
Best record store in Seattle. Great services and prices. Has video games and records and hard to find dvds as well
Hugh Ramsey
Broadway is a dynamic, changing organism. Though often this change proves beneficial, there are many casualties of gentrification. Spin Cycle preserves a history that is sadly, slowly fading from sight. Spin Cycle is a slice of history, an ode to the record stores that once peppered this city. A tribute to those of us who made friends with grizzled old men with a love for vinyl, at the counter of a cramped pocket of towering, crooked stacks.
Spin Cycle not only guards the old record store style, but brings an incredible selection of movies and video games. It's basically a pawn shop without the sheisty bald guy. If you're looking for a purveyor of true music, someone to actually give you a decent price for your beloved collection, or just a home away from home, look no further.
Andre Couture
Still the place in capitol hill to find great record picks by the staff there. Don't forget to test some of the older records there with the turntable if space and hygiene allows.
Danny DeVoido
Average selection, but good organization. Decent collection of video games too. Wouldn't go out of my way to go there, but I'd step in if I was walking by.
