Great experience with a violin rental for my son and bow purchase for myself. Very helpful information supplied during the process. I tested several bows in the shop's private practice room and also borrowed to try out at home. I ended up buying the bow I borrowed and am very happy with it.

I am very pleased with all the service I have received from Sten and his wife. I was able to try out as many cellos as I wanted in the store with no pressure. I ended up buying a nice cello from them five years ago. I have also had a bow re-haired. They know their instruments, can make adjustments AND are very honest. I actually considered buying a high quality hard cello case from Olsen's and Sten convinced me that not only was it not necessary, but that there were some disadvantaged. I found this amazing! He also referred me to someone else for a bow repair that turned out very well.

While visiting Seattle, the bridge on my niece's violin broke along with a string . Visited Olsen Violins based on reviews and location and am so happy we did! He was so friendly and informative. And quick! The violin was repaired and tuned within minutes! I highly recommend Olsen Violins if you are looking for a violin or need repairs and want excellent customer service.

Owner olsen and his wife operate business here for years. They are very nice. They are our resource for violins and bows. They let you try out string instruments for a couple of weeks. Selections are good.

I have come to Olsen Violins for years and have found that Sten and Nita consistently provide excellent service, instruments and followup. I also try to steer my cello students to his shop, which is beautiful and has private space in which to try out instruments and bows. And not only is Sten a knowledgeable and experienced craftsmen but he is trustworthy. If you rent from him, he will give you a great deal when it comes time to buy an instrument.

This shop is super classy and customer friendly. The selection of cellos is very good. We purchased a Jay Haide Special Model S Ruggieri cello after trying out the store's entire inventory of cellos. We also test drove that JH Ruggieri against the selections out of other shops. It was no contest. Olsen did an amazing job on that JH Ruggieri's setup. That cello ended up sounding like a cello costing at least 4 times its selling price.

Amazing experience! Those people are extremely sweet. They let you try everything you want, and do everything they can to make you feel comfortable and welcomed. Very good selection, great variety of violins and bows. I loved spending time there trying out everything I could. They do answer any question anytime and are very helpful. Great luthier in Seattle. I really loved spending a few hours there trying out all the violins and bows they had... Variety and quality of instruments; fairly competent staff who don't hesitate to do everything for you, explanations, comments, opinions... but also discretion and a warm atmosphere. Not to be missed for a passionate violinist!
