Super impressed with the quality of services and product at Dusty Strings. I recommended DS to a friend who had set out to purchase his first "quality" steel string. Jed and Steve did not disappoint.
Knowledgeable and friendly guys that gave my friend a wonderful, curated experience. Despite his original thinking that he wouldn't, he ended up buying his first guitar then and there.
His brother from out of town was also there with us and as a long time player himself, was really impressed with the knowledge of the staff and the quality of the instruments available.
I hadn't planned to buy I'll probably be back in 6 months to buy from them as well!

First time in and this place exceeded my expectations! Not that they were low to begin with by any means, but it just doesn’t look like much from the outside. Then you go down some unsuspecting stairs and through a door on the left that emits a surprising and pleasant sound from an instrument hung above the doorway, representing a literal “Dusty Strings” vibe. Through the doorway comes a top notch showroom and a wonderfully pleasant, knowledgeable, and helpful staff. I also saw some rooms toward the back for lessons which looked well setup. I’ll admit, I only went here initially because it was walking distance from my place and I just moved here. Came in for a guitar stand, and probably found my new favorite music shop.

Dusty Strings is a welcoming and wonderful store! Every time I come here, I am inspired to make music and play the harp. 5/5, without a doubt.

Had some really fun time here today at dusty strings. A huge range of musical instruments and the guitars are out of this world! Carrying ranges from the Taylors to the Collins. The ukuleles are also amazing. A colleague got a Romero collection, solid spruce top for les than $400. Awesome purchase!
Mike Wood
Wow! What a great store for uses, guitars and many other cool instruments. Lots of books too. Friendly staff and dogs allowed!
Pete Bartleson
Amazing guitar shop with the nicest (and best) techs around! I'll absolutely be going here for any/all future acoustic guitar needs.

I remember loving Dusty Strings while in high school. A decade later, and I’m happy to see its still as awesome as I remember it being! I am a beginner mandolinist and came in search of a new pick. Adam was super helpful and picked out a handful for me to try on their mandolin collection (which is fairly extensive). I was just gonna buy one without trying it, but I’m glad I didn’t. The pick makes such a difference in tone. This is definitely the best music store in Seattle!

First visit to this wonderful establishment, I received an amazingly informative tour of the Dusty Strings harps section. I was there to shop for a guitar and knew nothing about harps, save how beautiful they sound. Many thanks for sharing your expertise. I’m looking forward to my next visit.

I don't give a lot of reviews, but they definitely deserve 5 stars here! Dusty Strings is wonderful. I've had one of their harps for years and it continues to be amazing. Everytime I call with any questions, they answer the phone quickly and get me talking to the right person. My questions are always answered. I've also ordered tools from them which work very well and have very detailed directions showing what to do. Dusty Strings is nice, knowledgeable and helpful.

This is an outstanding store. Purchased high dollar guitar based on description and reputation. Transaction was enjoyable and met expectations from start to finish. Jed the gentleman who helped me was more than patient, bright, knowledgeable about the instrument and luthier and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Hope I can do business again soon.

Great customer service. The wide array of new and consignment musical instruments - all of high quantity - is impressive.
Care for health & safety of staff and customers a priority.

Great local music shop. They have an amazing assortment of acoustic instruments from a plethora of manufacturers in every price range and style. The staff has always been very friendly and helpful and will also leave you be to explore the shop on your own. Glad to have a place like this in Seattle.

Excellent music store. Well worth checking out.

Love me some Dusty Strings! Great service, friendly expert staff, beautiful instruments, lots of classes and resources for musicians. I can entrust my most valuable instruments to the repair shop, and I get a wonderful conversation or two about music before I leave!
Connor Soejoto
I had an emergency and needed a string repaired, they were so kind, helpful, and QUICK. Thanks to everybody at the store, can't wait to come back and try out some of the stock!
Glad I finally found some expert musicians and technicians to help me with my many ukuleles!

This place is always a joy. I've purchased 2 instruments from here now, one before covid and one after. Each time the staff is super knowledgeable, patient, and friendly - low pressure and they really make sure you get an instrument that you'll be happy with. The atmosphere is really warm lovely, and I appreciate how much they take covid precautions seriously.

I love Dusty Strings! Everyone here is so helpful, knowledgeable and super nice. I’ve visited from time to time to buy new guitar strings and try out some guitars. On my most recent visit, I brought in an old bow-back mandolin my grandpa left me and and they talked me through the repairs it would need and even looked it up to give me more information about when it was made, how much it was worth, etc.

I was looking for good used Tele and after searching the world over, I found what I was looking for at Dusty Strings. Made contact with them, negotiated a price and had it sent out! After receiving it, it was undamaged by the shipping company, perfect condition used guitar, just as they said, matched the pictures they took for me and I couldn't be happier.
They set it up, put new strings on it, cleaned it and gave me a hat too!
Very pleased with the integrity of the people and very pleased with what I received.
Definitely would recommend them!!!
Thanks again to the gang at Dusty Strings Music Store

I went in with an aging harp and left with a whole lot of knowledge and appreciation for the staff of Dusty Strings. They took the time to explain all about my instrument, addressed my concerns, and even taught me to replace a missing string! Their care and knowledge was on full display. They treated me well and I fully recommend them!

I travel around the US quite a bit. As an avid guitar player, there are certain places that I make an extra effort to visit. Dusty Strings caters more to the folk/bluegrass instrumentalist. Even if this is not your style, it's worth taking a an hour or two to check out the store. Great staff and comfortable environs. Last time I was there (June 2015) I brought home an assortment of slides, finger picks, and instructional books. I love stopping by because I always feel welcomed here. And I'm a jazz guitarist.

Super helpful!!!
I wanted a ukulele and had no idea where to start. They had a giant selection (it was seriously ginormous) and talked me through all the different types and brands and helped me find the best one for me. They had the nicest staff ever! Good vibes all around :)
Dave Revell
Nice folks. I wasn't happy with my current ukulele so went to Dusty Strings to shop around. They actually adjusted my current ukulele for free to fix some if its problems without my asking, even though I was ready to buy a new one. I ended up buying a new ukulele anyway, but it shows that they take good care of people.

I have been searching for a new tech for sometime now, and I had the BEST experience here. Adam, Patrick, Mike, and John all went out of their way on a very busy Saturday to take a look at my guitars and answer a bunch of questions I had about tune-ups. I will definitely be back here! Fantastic shop and staff.
Joe Seamons
This is the best acoustic music shop in Seattle. If you want a first rate instrument new (they sell a few used things, but it's mostly new), then this is where you go. They also build hammer dulcimers! It's wonderful.
Eager Eater
Quality selection of beautiful instruments in a range of price points. Knowledgeable staff.

One of the great acoustic music shops in Seattle. It’s been here forever.
Brian Hodgson
Unassuming from the street, this place is a Seattle gem every string musician (except orchestra musicians) should visit.
Repairs are done by highly qualified luthiers for guitar/banjo/uke/mandolins/dulcimers/harps and many other instruments. Great community resource! A friendly and knowledgeable staff are eager to help and find answers. More than a music store, Dusty Strings provides a place to buy a broad range of instruments, to take private lessons, to get in-house instrument repairs done by amazing luthiers, to watch a concert, to participate in community music activities, or even rent an instrument!
Shayne Hayes
Top notch team. I brought in a ragged project guitar for a new nut and it came back smooth as butter. The attention to detail to their customers and their work is nothing short of excellent.
Ben Sutton
Friendly, Unique, Great Energy shop for guitars, harps, hammered dulcimer, pipes, mandolins, ukuleles, harmonicas, and even some percussion. They were the ONLY ones in town with my violin strings in-stock. Did I mention how cool and friendly they are.
Robert Babs
This is a really neat shop! With a super friendly and knowledgeable staff. This Fremont gem is a great place to check out if you’re actually in the market for an instrument, or to just wander around and try things out.
Zachary Adams
I am a guitar and mandolin player from Philadelphia. I visit music stores across the country as a hobby, and I've found a home business.
Friendly people, amazing selection of new and used instruments, and a fun atmosphere to play and relax. Lovely.

Bridge repair on my taylor acoustic.
Phenomenal job. bridge ripped off due to manufacturer defect. these guys fixed it up and it plays perfectly with no signs that it was ever repaired.
Tony Vangel
Been to several music stores across the country, and Dusty Strings is probably my favorite music store. First, ALL of the staff are top notch, not your typical "what can I sell to you" or "man that guitar looks good on you" Second, (all Acoustic) the guitars range from solid lower end, to the absolute one of gems. Here's the big thing, as long as you don't have a buckle, or a zippered coat, or anything that may damage an instrument, Dusty Strings allows you to play all of the guitars, for any amount of time. Not once have a had a guilty feeling of not buying one. or after 4 hours of trying guitars, I left with 2 sets of strings and a slide. I thank them and they thank me every time I go in the store. Guitar Center, Dusty Strings is not.
Sarah Storts
Very knowledgeable staff. We had a harp that they looked at for us. They gave us a price range to sell it at as they were not able to purchace it from us. We went back to get my daughter a soprano ukalalie she discovered she could not play it due to a medical condition. They refunded us the purchase price even though we had bought it 3 weeks prior.
Kareem Hadee
Their Harp Selection is great. However, their Instruments aren't always in tune for people to demo. Parking can be challenging as well. You will need to park north up the hill and walk about 3 blocks or so to get to this location. Keep this in mind if you are purchasing a harp.
Sleight O'Hand
What an oasis of music. Great instruments and knowledgeable, congenial staff make visiting Dusty Strings a must and a no-brainer for sufferers of GAS. You know who you are....
Karel Scott
People who care about quality guitars in a sterling environment.
Tyler Merrill
I went in to buy classical guitar strings and they spent an hour with me teaching me how to put them on. The store also has an excellent selection of teaching/ learning materials.
Rob Gruhl
The selection is amazing and the staff is incredibly nice, helpful, and knowledgeable. Best place in Seattle to buy or get service on an acoustic guitar.
Juniper Belmont (Andrei Mouravski)
This is the place to go for any stringed instrument (and some others) you need. Not only do they have a huge selection, but instruments range from beginner model to top of the line. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. They also do music lessons (sometimes free!) and instrument repair.
If you're in Fremont for whatever reason, see Lenin, the Rocket, and Dusty Strings.
Jack Pint
Extremely friendly staff. Patient, knowledgeable and thorough. Not pushy at all and gave me the room to explore guitars and reached an informed decision myself.
Special thanks to Mike!
Barbara Dunshee
