My visit to this particular Guitar Center wasn’t anything to write home about. Most of the employees I interacted with seemed to lack the time & patience to help customers (such as myself) who are interested in getting involved with music and instruments, but who also don’t have a lot of knowledge. Perhaps I wasn’t asking the right questions or should’ve done more research on the internet before coming in. I would say the majority of employees working at this Guitar Center probably have a wealth of knowledge to share, but I’m not sure they want to. Will I come back? Probably. My experience wasn’t good or bad, it was just average hence the 3 star rating.

As always, it depends on who you work with. The guys at the guitar counter in the back have always been awesome. They know gear and have offered several useful suggestions. I once had to return a defective pedal and they were very helpful. Much easier than returning stuff online. Fair offers on trading in gear. The manager is really nice and helpful too, and I like that he works on the floor sometimes. Negative: I’ve had a couple employees steer me directly to the most expensive options without knowing anything about me and were not able to explain why I needed the most expensive option. I came in for a power conditioner and was immediately steered to the $400 option, but couldn’t be told why it was better than the $150 option. Same experience with an e-drum kit; employee couldn’t tell me why I needed the $2500 Roland over the $700 Alesis, and knew NOTHING about my skill level or ambitions. Guys, your recommendations are a big reason why we come here instead of Musicians Friend. Please remedy.

The store has a lot of very knowledgeable staff who are very willing to help you. They'll go the extra mile to help you solve a problem. In my case, they were the only company with the item I was looking for (a mouthpiece for a trombone, which isn't even their specialty). The store is pretty disorganized, but it's really fun with a lot of good music being played.

My kids and I love this place. Best music store in Utah, imo. Quality products, knowledgeable staff/assistance from each employee that I've asked questions to. Visually stimulating when you just walk in it feels like a neat place to be for any music lover.

I took my 1970's Suzuki Acoustic in to the guitar tech, Guy, to get a setup done. It went in with poor action and lots of buzzing, and came out sounding and playing like a million bucks! Holy cow, best $80 I've ever spent on a guitar.

The store itself is awesome. If you're looking to start a new instrument or just gear up, Guitar Center probably has it. From drums to brass, keyboards, synthesizers, acoustic or electric guitar, recording equipment and more plus a Luthier station. Some employees could work on their social interaction skills. That's why the 4 stars. As far as quality, selection and variety, best store in Utah.

It’s nice to have a store with a ton of selection and inventory. The trial time is very helpful as we determined within a few minutes that we needed the larger wattage. We really appreciated the guidance and opinions from Logan. He is patient and very knowledgeable.

We went to this store because my son is looking for studio equipment. He definitely found everything he needed here and some. Employees are VERY nice. I had my dog with me because she had just been groomed from a pet salon close by (Petsmart is just next door also) and they were VERY WELCOMING when it came to my little shih tzu. I carried her the entire time-- but they told me I could put her down so she could walk if I wanted to. They were very nice to us, as well as our little dog, and asked if we needed any help. Very gracious and helpful employees. The prices were also very good on a lot of their equipment and instruments. We will definitely be back once my son has made his final decisions on what he needs. Fantastic store for music lovers, DJs, music studio owners, and much more. Check it out, it has tons of things! You could stay in there for hours (well, I could!!!)

The tech here was one of the most helpful person I have ever met in any store of my life. I came in with a really old silvertone guitar, him telling me that the truss rod wasn't adjustable and do get lighter strings to help with the action. What a stud!

Out of stock out of stock that's the only answers that I got there at guitar center and then going to guitar center for a long time and I was very disappointed in their customer service and their attitude I hope they recover from being out of stock of the products that are necessary for a musician to have to perform his job as a musician I was very unhappy

Decent place if that's your only option and you're not looking for anything out of the ordinary. My experience with the majority of the staff though is that they're all usually rather pretentious and arrogant. I prefer Guitar Czar without question.

Very happy with the service we received. There was an employee that had a customer stand at his register for at least 30 minutes and the customer asked a ton of questions. Some music related and others not. I actually felt bad for the guy when he was done with his shift, the customer yelled for him at the door and while clocked out, still continued to answer questions. I can't remember his name, but it wad the guy with the curled mustache. If he was annoyed with the customer for chasing him out the door, he didn't show it. Now I wish I had told the guy to leave the employee alone and let him go! He was off the clock. The customer had no respect for the employee who spent 30 minutes or more with him.

After calling multiple times to keep them updated on when I'd pick up what I ordered and being told that its not going to be an issue when I arrive to pick it up, I still spent 15- 20 minutes there as I waited for them to finally locate what I ordered that was waiting for me. He came back 3 times to tell me he can't locate it. When when it was found, the person expected me to take it to may car by hand even though he used a dolly to bring it to me. I would expect an 800.00 purchase would get me better service. I guess not. Best service I had with them was when I ordered the item. Once they took my money, being concerned clearly didn't matter at that point.

Guitar center is the musical warehouse that has everything u need. I am not a bass player but I was accommodated as if I were and the salesman didn't try and push the most expensive items on me. When I went in to buy a guitar, amp and other accessories. The sales person rushed me through and didn't set up my guitar. He did get me a good deal and discounts. When I got home the guitar had issues. I had string buzz. I found it needed a truss rod adjustment. I took it in next day. Steve was the sales person this time. He was very cool and he set up my guitar, the way it should be. He was a total pro. He gave me a whammy bar and tools that go with it in a package that goes with it. When I go in next time he is my go to person.

Man... These guys are great. They make it such a good experience. Went in today wanting to start playing a little electric guitar. I'm a noob and told them I needed some guidance. Instead of blowing me off two representatives knocked it out of the park for me: Tyler and Mason. They both took a ton of time with me showing me options, recommending I try different setups, challenging me to hear what I like. I ended up finding a setup that I really like and am super stoked to have. So grateful that there can still be a good customer service experience in this automated world. Huge selection of instruments and gear. The store was messy with boxes everywhere and shelves unorganized so it was an adventure finding what I was looking for. Not sure if this is the normal state of the store or not because this was my very first visit. If you're up for the adventure it might be worth your time because of the plethora of options they stock.

Took a new Fender acoustic into this location for repair. When I picked up my guitar a few days later, I noticed that the guitar tech didn’t address the issue with the guitar whatsoever. I emailed the management at this location twice to request a refund for the poor repair job and they were totally unresponsive. *Update* The manager reached out to me and was very helpful. He personally repaired the guitar for me within minutes. Thanks!

Always a fun place to visit, as a musician I like to visit Guitar Centers were ever I'm at this store I frequently go to while in town. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable and store is well maintained, this store has a great selection and I spend money just about every time I'm there. As any musician knows guitar center will usually have what you need.

The shop is huge!! There's lots of help available, and they have quite the selection! The sales person helping us was helpful until I said "let me think about it, am not sure" and he completely lost interest in helping us. The place was a bit messy and dirty, but I'd go back.

Has a very large amount of musical instruments and misc. musical items, But a lot of the things aren't available to test out or use, the test drum set has fingerprints and dust all over the symbols and there isn't a hi hat you can play on. The electric drum sets are either not turned on, missing a piece of the set, or too quiet. a few of the electric pads and DJ sets aren't turned on or don't emit sound, but the selection is huge and i will return, just those few things kind of triggered me

The guys here are awesome. Everyone I talked to was incredibly helpful, and I was able to get everything I needed, and then some. When I need a 12 string, I will be back to get one. The same for when I need to replace my secondary electric guitar (Fender Strat Squire). They continue to provide good customer service, even after about a 10 year gap from when I was last there.

I used to rate guitar center five stars but with the pandemic they don't have any inventory and now lock all the good guitars and only unlock the junky ones to play. Also I've ordered several things online over the past couple of months. Two amps arrived broken and two guitars that were supposed to be in excellent condition were beat to hell. The manager at the SLC store is always accommodating though...is good to work with. And the sales staff is decent. They need better inventory and they need to have better training for staff listing gear condition... and better QC for product packaging and shipping.

Picked up a cool concert Mitchell ukulele for a decent price. They used to have them on display in the guitar room, now they have a little rounder with only a couple out. I had to get out my phone and use their app to look up prices and specs. Picked up a few accessories as well. Seems they have really narrowed their selection, probably due to covid and possible financial difficulties. Still, a great place for gear!

It was the best when I was a kid. Now it’s just a place to try before you buy, and even then the selection is pretty minimal considering the variety of items they have to stock. Still a decent place to get some accessories in a pinch. Cheap strings and nostalgia.

If you need something related to musical instruments in a pinch can be a good place to go. They also have good band related gifts and novelty items. If only the people that suck on guitar would stop blasting themselves throughout the store. You are not as good as you think you are so please turn your volume down and practice more at home.

I was able to walk in on a whim and mostly get what I wanted. Had to order some things online because they weren't in stock, but I hardly blame the business. Like so many other businesses, covid-19 is clearly taking its toll on music related manufacturing. The normally well stocked guitar room was completely empty and many items that would normally be on hand were not in stock. They had the cutest hand sanitizer station set up at the entrance using drum equipment to pump the hand sanitizer with your feet.

I generally have great experiences here. I went there today and couldn't believe they were requiring you to Wear a mask to enter. I mean really.!?!? The grocery stores are not even requiring them. Not only did they loose my business but they lost several other customers as well. Somee healthcare facilities are not even being this ridiculous. Don't complain about loosing money with these restrictions. We just gave someone else your profits. Sorry Guitar Center . Lighten up and I might be back

Honestly this place used to be really nice, when we went in there wasn't nearly enough staff... everything was cluttered and unorganized... I will not go here for musical supplies again. It used to be my go to but the last time I was there it sucked. Also the floors where REALLY dirty. I have a toddler and I let her walk around and she stumbled and when I went to help her up she was convered in hair and debris. C'mon guys get it together.

My son is looking for a new acoustic guitar and asked me to come along. It was surprisingly un-busy for a Black Friday Sale even in these COVID Days. The salesperson was very knowledgeable and helpful so that was good. But, I have mention something that has always bothered me about GC. In the Acoustic room, found a well used Martin selling for $1,400. It was missing a string. Really guys? If you're asking that kind of money for a guitar wouldn't it be good salesmanship to have it actually be playable? Next....the Bass section. Was excited to find a used Rickenbacker 4003S within reach! Only $1,400 bucks! It was beautiful! BUT.......the action was so high that it was almost unplayable. These are only the latest examples of many experiences like this I've had at this GC. Makes me wonder why......

Guitar Center is the real deal. They have all the instruments and all the gear. Prices are fair, and their employees are knowledgeable. If you haven't tried them, take your search or your questions to the shop and they will surely impress you. I am not a pro, but their guys are not pretentious, and I was comfortable learning from them. And their luthier has the skill and equipment to handle most repairs big or small. I had a cracked neck on a ukulele and the repair was quick and awesome.

I didn't feel welcome or at home while experimenting with their products... There was a "look but don't touch environment".

5 stars for selection. 3 stars for customer service. Guitar Center is good and bad at the same time. It's a big box store for musical instruments so treat it like a walmart, costco or target and you will do just fine. If you need assistance just be patient and search for someone as they won't come find you. Once you do find someone they will either be an expert in what your looking for or know nothing about it. That's where the patience has to come in. Just go find another employee, eventually you will find someone at the store that is an expert on what you need. Remember it's a massive store, it's impossible to be an expert at everything. Every time I have gone I have had this same experience, but with patience I always get what I need.

This guitar center is a pretty normal, pretty sizable guitar center. They have a wide variety of beginner and intermediate guitars. There isn’t much that’s super great or on a professional quality. The employees have been good in the past, but in more recent visits, I have been unimpressed with their attentiveness and care.

Guitar Center is being really conscientious about customer safety. They require masks as a company, have hand sanitizer all throughout the store, and they limit the customer capacity. They also have contactless curbside pick-up available, but if you need something the same day, don't order it online because it's apparently faster if you call about the item and ask them to hold it for you. The wait in the line usually isn't too long. You can still demo instruments, but you have to ask a sales associate so they can disinfect it when you're done. They will limit demo time if it's super busy though, so keep that in mind. All this said, my experience here was awesome and everyone was SUPER helpful. I had some questions and just went up and asked the sales associate and they were able to help me out. I love this place!

Large selection of new and used gear and they'll work with you to make a deal. The staff are usually pretty friendly, but not always on their A Game when it comes to answering questions (very knowledgeable, not always humble about it).

I purchase about $5,000 annually from GC (unless I happen to make a high-dollar instrument or pro-audio purchase. The senior staff conduct themselves professionally. Returns processes have been streamlined. My main issue is likely due more to the demographic that shops at the SLC store. It focuses inventory on cheap, entry-level, and Chinese-made junk, because that's what is sold in volume here. Some items I've got no issue with ordering, but all fretted instruments and percussion need a personal interaction before you drop $5k-$10k on them.

One of my favorite place to hang out. I love coming in and playing the acustic guitars. But now they are all locked away. The stire is pretty clean and most of the staff is pretty knowledgeable and great to talk to. Best to go mud day before all the kids get if school.

This place has great selection for any price range. The staff are pretty knowledgeable about guitars as well as most other string instruments too. I’m a fan of their electric instruments, but that might just be me! Some things are pretty pricey here though, so it’s not necessarily the most friendly for your wallet.

I've bought several guitars here. I love the selection and the ability to try out lots of guitars at once. The service can be hit or miss. Some guys are very attentive to you. Others don't give you the time of day unless they know you are a serious guitarist, which I'm not. Overall, great place to find new and used gear.

Really disgusted with alot of the electric guitars in there. I found over 10 that had obvious damage or missing parts. There were also only 2 cords to plug in and sample the guitars with, and one was damaged. I had to wait a while for some to help me. I've bought 4 guitars here. I don't think I'll come back anymore
