First want to say how knowledgeable Meg is about guitars! She immediately figured out what was wrong with mine and walked me through everything. Thanks to Meg I’ll be able to play my gig tonight last second because of her generosity and kindness. Great spot with a great selection of guitars! Highly recommend!

We bought a Cordoba classical guitar here for my daughter. The staff was very helpful. Helped us pick it out and got us in a few months later to put new strings on quickly. Good vibe, nice quality instruments
Charles Kimball
Without question, the best guitar store around. Very knowledgeable guitar people. Always friendly, always helpful!
This is the only place you need to shop for your next guitar. Can’t say enough good things!
I love Acoustic Music!

Took my mother’s lawsuit guitar from the early 80’s for a refret, neck reset, and bridge repair a year ago. The work has held well. I still can’t believe it’s the same guitar! It brought the guitar out of the closet and into the living room where it deserves to be. Thanks AM!

Been shopping for a high quality old time banjo for a while, and Meg and Mellisa at Acoustic Music have been invaluably helpful in that process. Acoustic Music is always a good place to find beautiful instruments, solid advice, and great conversation. Just picked up a Pisgah today and couldn't be happier!

When I was buying a new guitar a few years ago, they were able to help me talk through options from entry level instruments up through really expensive guitars from iconic builders. I ended up connecting with a guitar that felt and sounded great that happened to be a less expensive model, and didn't feel any pressure from them to upgrade even though they knew I had a budget to spend a bit more. Now I go back any time I need strings, picks, tuners, etc and will undoubtedly make Acoustic Music my first stop next time I'm in the market for a new instrument.

I went to this store several times many years ago, and was never thoroughly impressed with the vibe of the shop.
I found myself across the street from Acoustic Music again today, and figured I'd give it another try since it has been 5+ years since the last time I went in.
As it turns out, it's under new ownership; the place is in top form. The layout of the store is better than ever. There is a great selection of acoustic instruments: guitars, mandolins, banjos (fretless?!), basses, harmonicas etc.
There is a nice assortment of accessories: strings, cables, picks, bridge pins, pickups, guitar pedals, Audio Technica microphones, you name it. They've got $2 egg shakers and kazoos, and a variety of other little goodies at bargain prices.
To top it off, Meg, the owner, is a joy to be around. She's as knowledgeable, pleasant and opinionated as you could hope a guitar store owner to be, and she seems to have a great number of stories and experiences to share with anyone who comes into the shop.
Meg even gave a nice man a guitar today who was without one. I felt lucky to be witness to such a heart-warming moment in such a brief visit to the shop.
I immediately came home, retstrung my HD-28 (with my new bridge pins), removed the L.R. Baggs M-1 that Meg reminded me has probably been robbing my tone, and now I'm happily playing away.
This is the kind of guitar store that makes me want to play guitar more. What more could you ask for?
Mary Nielsen
Thank you! I’ve been playing for a few years but this was my first time buying a guitar for myself and Meg and Trenton helped me with all my questions. They didn’t make me feel dumb for not knowing things and they were personable and kind throughout everything. Thank you thank you!!
Robert Sagers
Top notch and friendly customer service, and a homey shop. I can’t imagine myself going anywhere else from now on. Meg is the best!!!
Robert Harrow
I hardly ever write reviews, but Acoustic Music deserves a great review. Meg is absolutely the best!!! Everybody at this shop is wonderful, smart, and kind. I bought my first guitar from Acoustic Music in 1993. I keep going back. I'd give them 10 stars if I could.
Erich Strack
Wow!! What an amazing little store. Not your typical jack-of-all instrument store. Megan (I hope I spelled that right) has hard to find stuff like Santa Cruz, Eastman, and even a few Danelectros in the back.
The world would be a better place if there were more stores like Acoustic Music.
Mark Oyler
Super knowledgeable and friendly staff. These are musicians that care about their instruments and their customers. Excellent selection of high end acoustic guitars, ukes, etc., as well as more affordable instruments. I had a bad experience at another local shop, and acoustic music went above and beyond to help me get the guitar I wanted.
Eric Allen
The best guitar shop in the state. Go here first then also here last when you're trying to find a guitar. I bought a guitar here that had a slight issue and the owner (Meg) gave me another better guitar to play while my first was getting fixed. She called herself my guitar's "godmother" which says everything you need to know about how much she cares about her customers and their guitars. THE BEST.
Richard Herbert
Meg and Aaron were great, I went in to get my 48' Martin 0-18 worked on and Aaron did a great job on it. Of course I started eyeballing guitars when I dropped it off. When I came to pick it up (very quick turn around time), I thought I was going to try to pick b/t 2 Santa Cruz guitars and Meg took the time to figure out what my ear was looking for and she suggested a Collings OM2H SB and after cycling through the 3 for about 20 minutes walked out with my Martin and this beauty.
Thanks Meg!!
Allen Morales
Staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Had a great time trying out instruments.
Michael Darter
I needed set of new guitar strings and the person there did an excellent job in replacing them. He also answered a number of questions on guitars and stand up basses and more. Great store with lots of very good guitars and excellent service.
Bart Cubrich
This place is so great for many reasons. The owner is so nice, and she makes huge efforts to support local music and music education. The selection in the store is great, and you can try things out anytime. The guitar tech, Aaron, is one of the best I've had, and his turn around times are much faster than other shops at the moment. I'm so thankful for the recent work he did repairing my bridge, when I thought I would need a whole new bridge. Thanks!
Jed Connell
Great guitar store! Lots of help. Real friendly, genuine people. No pressure.
I'm a bit of a novice but they were patient and I learned a lot just talking with them. They are professionals so my buddy who is really good very much likes to go there as well.
Can't give them enough stars!! This will be my go to shop.
Purchased an Eastman and felt that I got a really good deal.
Jonathan Ulmer
I'm really happy with this place. They actually have a good selection in stock. Most other big box stores have been picked clean of any side by side playable selections from the pandemic buying of guitars. The owner and staff were very helpful in selecting a good buy. I can't wait to buy my next guitar.
Ryan Krochko
Fantastic store, great selection of acoustic guitars, ukuleles, banjos (and more) and incredible service. Meg was very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. I ended up picking up a used GS mini-e Koa plus, and she even gave my kids a shaker each for the car ride out (which they loved)! Will be back when next through Salt Lake City! Thanks again!
Talmage Sanders
This place is always a wonderful experience. Knowledge and kind staff! Staff feels warm and humorous. Good selection of musical instruments. Seems like a good space to get in touch with other artists as well.
John Nelson
This is an awesome shop that I will now be giving all of my business to. They worked on two of my Martin guitars and did an excellent job. Super helpful and friendly staff too. I can’t recommend them enough!
Patrick Buie
This is an incredible shop. I took several years off from playing the guitar, and when I decided to get seriously back into it, Meg was incredibly patient and helpful. They have inventory to fit almost any budget, and the experience to always steer you in the right direction--I've never felt like I was being "upsold" to. Acoustic Music is a great example of the sense of community a small shop can give, that a big box store will never be able to offer.
natalie williamson
So nice! they didn’t have what I needed, but called somewhere else to check for us and were so helpful in finding it for us at a different spot!
Edison Oliveira
I found what I needed for my guitar.
Guitar strings were the best in sound when I tried them on my acustic guitar.
I end up buying a few more things.
Customer Service was very friendly!✨
Patrick Shull
In SLC visiting from Nashville,Tn. Happened into this place and had a fantastic time. If I lived here I would be a regular. Left feeling like we’d made new friends and been blessed to play some great instruments. Staff is above and beyond awesome. Other customers were friendly and fun to chat with as well. Really great vibe… and they also sell instruments. 😀
Sabra Schlyter
They have helped me out so many times and always do their best to be timely and effective.
Kenneth Charette
Simply the best guitar shop in Salt Lake. You’ve got a question or need help? Meg’s got you; need your guitar taken care of? Aaron’s work is wonderful, and their prices are well within reason.
Glad I found this place when I moved to Salt Lake!
TJ Jones
I used to go to Acoustic Music when I attended the University of Utah. I went back for the first time in over 10 years recently. They have a great selection of acoustic instruments with guitars being the primary focus. Martin, Taylor, Santa Cruz, and others. I saw that they were an Alvarez dealer in the past, but they don't carry them anymore. Staff are helpful and professional. They also have skilled professionals that do guitar repair. Overall I would strongly recommend Acoustic Music for guitarists.
M&K Ultra Candle LLC
The owner is very observant and knowledgeable. My expectations were exceeded. I will definitely return. Thank you.
Shelly Pace
I have been to at least six different stores from Ogden to Draper, and each told me that it was impossible to find finger picks that were different sizes. I'd mostly given up hope but following the recommendation of someone, I visited Acoustic Music. Immediately I was helped, with a range of choices that fit great! And when I said I was also interested in a capo, I received a demonstration of how a banjo capo works differently which helped immensely.
There is fantastic selection not only of picks, but various instruments, a huge selection of strings, and very reasonably priced.
I look forward to needing new strings and going back.
Gary Coursey
Such a cool guitar store. The folks who work here are extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and honest I’ll absolutely be coming back
Timothy Lecheminant
The best and only place to go for anything acoustic! Just don’t have anything sharp on you if your playing the high end Martin’s! She WILL yell at you,, it’s scary….
andrea L
We went into Acoustic Music today for some advice on a guitar for our 6 year old. Great vibe in the shop and super good advice on a guitar and lessons. They didn’t have the guitar we needed, but Megan called around and found one. It is perfect for our little rock star. Thanks for taking the time and helping us get what we needed.
Marti Gaylord
Amazing Place! The staff are all so helpful and nice and the owner Meg is outstanding! I popped in to have some work done on my ukulele and she just happened to be getting in some new guitars at the time, I asked if she would play and she blew me away. Amazing on the guitar and incredible voice! I will never go anywhere else!
Nate Jacob
Meg is an absolutely amazing person; she owns the place. She has a great staff, all of which are very knowledgable. I take lessons that are coordinated through the shop, as well; my teacher is awesome, Meg suggested the right person for them.
I went in, for the first time, and I was told that I should pull the guitars off the shelf, and play them, because "instruments are meant to be played". I went in, 3-4 times a week for the next three weeks because Meg said "you'll know the right one when you find it" which was the absolute truth. The instrument I ultimately ended up buying was put on the shelf 3 hours before I got there that day; and, when I played it for the first time, it felt like a long lost friend. I can't recommend this place enough, it's a place for friends, and repeat customers and worth the stop. If you're in from out of town or just passing through.
I've bought two amazing guitars from this place. If they can't help, you'll be directed to a place that can, that's good business.
Thanks Meg and crew!
Bruce Boyes
Friendly local honest guitar store offering lessons, new and used instruments, and repairs by people who actually use what they sell. I have bought used instruments from them and just dropped off two guitars for crack repair. I buy all my strings and other such here too. Megan and crew will take good care of you.
Sam Porter
Staff is amazing. Always super helpful and these guys have the best and biggest selection of new and used guitars in the salt lake area by far. (Except for the big national chain but it's important to shop local and support our local economy) they are always giving away great deals and it's a beautiful shop ever since they remodeled! Every other shop feels old almost like a pawn shop. Not acoustic music it's an inviting environment and a fun storee to play around in.
Lindsey Dickey
Meg is amazing! I went in to get my guitar strings changed and she said yes and then replied let me show you how to change them yourself so you don't have to pay for it ever again. She showed me and changed them all right in front of me under 10 minutes and helped two others with ukeleles before me. I ended up buying a capo, snark tuner, and batteries for the great service!
I will be coming here from now on for my acoustic needs
Brandon Lee
Acoustic Music is the real deal brick and mortar shop. They have the best selection of Martin, Collings, Santa Cruz and many others guitars as well as a plethora of other instruments. I’ve been coming here for many years and was concerned when Brian sold the business but the new owner Meg is absolutely amazing and real. I recently bought a couple Collings “CJ 35 and a D2H” and was so indecisive and had so many questions and she was extremely patient in helping me find my dream guitars. I will absolutely be giving her my future business. She’s a way rad chick and extremely knowledgeable!
Troy Preslar
Just stopped in to get some new strings on a used guitar I just bought. They took such good care of us. They adjusted the action in addition to the new strings and gave the guitar a once over. I had a great experience. I would be happy to give them my business in the future.
Marc Pardee
Acoustic Music came recommended as THE place to go when looking for a new steel string guitar. I was not let down -- the owner Meg is very friendly, warm, inviting, and knowledgeable about all of the instruments.
You have access to try any guitars in the shop, and their no-pressure attitude really lets you explore and try the different instruments at your pace.
I returned a few weeks later to purchase a Martin guitar that I absolutely fell in love with. Meg was incredibly helpful and generous in making sure the guitar was taken care of on our way out. She provided tips and tricks to keep it in great shape and ready to last a lifetime.
I will be back and using this shop for any of my guitar needs. Why go anywhere else when you're treated like an old friend?
Angela West
If you like guitars, you’ll love this place. Our favorite store in Utah. Extremely knowledgable on how to protect your beautiful instruments. We love the staff, extremely helpful and kind!
Hendrik Stegall
I went there to get a guitar for my birthday. Brian (Bryan?) was super helpful in identifying for me a good selection of guitars for my skill and price range. They have walls full of different makes and models as well as any accessories that a first-time owner like myself might need. Great selection and customer service.
Luke Hansen
I went in the other day to buy a ukelele for my wife and Meg helped me. She was very friendly and adamant that if my wife didn't like the instrument we should bring it back. She also gave me recommendations for online resources for my wife to learn. She made sure I was well taken care of and I would definitely recommend this business.
Q Gardner
Awesome store and super nice folks! A couple years ago they got my Washburn all set up and it still plays awesomely! They are very knowledgeable. I will be bringing my acoustics here whenever they need work!
Gina Carter
My neighbors referred me here as I was given 2 free guitars that didn't seem in the best shape but what do I know? I called first and spoke with Abel who was very helpful and gave me some good information so I was prepared for my visit. I then headed on in. There I met Ryan who inspected both guitars. I left them with him as I headed out for about 15 minutes. I came back to find the Ibanez cleaned up and looking great; then he re-strung it (the strings were broken) and once done, it sounded lovely! The other (an Applause AA13) didn't need strings but it got a wipe down, dust off and it too sounded great once in tune. So happy with my experience and with the way I was treated. Abel and Ryan were so cool and awesome to talk with and meeting them was a true treat!

What a gem of a store. Qualify? One, selection of acoustic instruments (guitars and ukulele primarily) is REALLY impressive. Two, #1 could potentially be a let down IF the large selection consisted of only high priced Martins and Taylors, but, there are other high quality guitars (Tetons, for example) plus a nice used selection for lesser price points. Three, I have NEVER been received poorly. On the contrary, every single time I’ve walked in, I’ve been offered a tuner and pick with an open invitation to try and play anything. Even the most expensive items are accessible; no “ask for assistance” signs anywhere nor instruments placed where air is rare. Meg, the owner, is so amazingly warm, real, and willing to help anyone. Most recently, I overheard her offer to “babysit” a new customer’s neglected, dry and warped guitar, happily offering the task of re-humidifying it while they are out of town. Four, the sales staff with whom I’ve worked have been honest and forthright. On occasion I’ve approached the register with an item/items only to have one offer an alternative, less expensive suggestion. Five, they support the local community and local musicians, often providing the store as a stage to share and perform. Six, and this is a personal thing, there aren’t 50 amps plugged in and cranked to decibel levels that challenge an ear drum’s capacity to remain intact...sorry Guitar Center, like I said, just me. Seven, they have lessons (guitar, voice, singing/songwriting, etc) available. I don’t spend too much time writing reviews but figure some qualifying rationale for 5 stars may be more meaningful. It feels good to support our local stores and businesses and wholeheartedly endorse this one!
Bad Pete
This is a great shop! The staff is totally honest, friendly and helpful. They don't pressure their customers at all. They aren't "hard sell," types at all, so if you need help, just speak up! Their instrument selection includes everything from entry level to boutique guitars, banjos, ukeleles, mandolins and a few others. Their prices are fair, and are often lower than the big-chain stores on-line. They will often perform minor repairs or adjustments while you wait and at very minimal or no cost. They also have great instructors available. What a great community resource!
Brandon Adamek
Acoustic Music was amazing to work with when purchasing a new Martin guitar. Megan and Trenten went out of their way to accommodate me in finding a guitar that i can comfortably play from my wheelchair. I am more than happy with the experience.
Carla Eskelsen
This has been my go-to music store for over thirty years. The knowledgeable and friendly staff, excellent service and quality products are just some of the reasons. Their long-time support of the acoustic music community is another. I don't know what I'd do without them. I never buy anything online that I can get, or order, from them, and I know I can send my students there and trust that they'll get the appropriate help or product they need.
Justin Hooper
I went in about a week ago to (I thought) just look at some guitars, as I'd had plans to begin shopping for an acoustic guitar right before the pandemic scuttled all sorts of shopping plans. I had honestly planned to go and look here because it's closer to home, but drive farther away to a store that was advertising a good coupon deal for a limited time. However, as I was treated well and truly helpfully by the owner, I stuck around to check out more guitars, and as I did so I couldn't help but overhear the owners concern for her clientele and workers in discussions being had in the shop while I was noodling on a guitar. At the end of the day, I decided that supporting an owner who really cared about the customers was worth a couple hundred dollars of savings, bought a new guitar, got taken care of quite well with all the necessary accoutrements that go with a new guitar and went home to enjoy my new instrument. About an hour after I got home I realized I'd not even checked the price of the instrument vs. the big online sellers to see how much of a premium I paid to shop local and support a business I wanted to see do well, so I fired up a web browser and went to compare to the big online sellers, only to find that the pricing at the locally owned store with an owner who demonstrably cared about the people who came through their door was noticeably less than the online volume sellers.
Suffice to say, they made a customer for life without having to try to make me feel any more special than any other customer they might have.
R Matthew Simmons
This place is dangerous! Small, intimate setting with just the right smattering of amazing instruments. Despite all the inconveniences imposed on local businesses due to the pandemic Meg was awesome to work with, patient and spoke in a language that a somewhat newbie could understand. Keep your credit card close because one could definitely have fun in this store.
Ryan Bares
I love this shop. Any time I need anything done on my acoustic guitar this is the place I go. Staff is amazing, and they are more interested in you learning and and having a good experience than just making a quick dollar off you.
Kyler Reinhold
When I went here I was in a rush to get a family thing but I needed a set of guitar and ukulele strings (long story on why I needed them) so I get there and it doesn't open for another 25 minutes but the guy was out front shoveling snow and he helped me anyways. I got in and out quickly and got what I needed. Great guitar shop! Also they have some really cool instruments in there to see.
Thelonious Linford
This store has been around since the 1970's and is still as amazing as ever. They have a wide selection of acoustic guitars, classical gutars, ukuleles, madolins, banjos, and tons of other musical equipment. While I was in the store i tried out a local guitar brand called Teton which they carry many of. These guitars are amazing quality and sound for a very low price. I also played one of the most comfortable and beautiful playing acoustic bass guitars I've ever seen. While I sat and played, I saw them take care of a huge array of customers, they helped outfit a young girl with a ukulele, did a strap button repair on a guitar, and helped several other customers, they have wonderful customer service.
Ovearall, I LOVE this guitar store and I will return to it as often as I possibly can!
(Pictures to come soon)

All my gear got stolen in SLC last night and acoustic music gave me numerous items I needed to get back on stage, free of charge. They care about music and I'm so grateful for their kindness
Diedre Peterson
We didn't get a guitar, but it was still a great experience. My boyfriend was so excited that she let him play a $3000 guitar! Would definitely buy in the future and if we're in town!
Dane McKinney
Very friendly staff! And great selection of instruments including affordable to fine guitars, banjos, delicimers, mandolins, ukuleles, and more! Highly recommend checking it out!
Madeline Ferrell
Such a cute music store- locally owned. The owner is so nice and super talented! She played a “ganjo” for my family and I, a six string banjo! Super quality place. Can’t wait to go back and play beautiful music!
Joseph Ely
These guys are awesome. Super honest, and they have the best selection of acoustics of anyone i've ever been to. I bought a guitar recently and got a hard case, extra picks, and an extra set of my favorite strings for free. Highly recommended
Steve Hanson
Best place in Utah to find a good used acoustic guitar or mandolin. They are one of the few places in Utah that carry guitars from boutique luthiers. Very high-end stuff. If you’ve never played Brazilian, you haven’t played.
Trenten Mansfield is the best music store employee I’ve ever met. Extremely passionate and knowledgeable and knows how to match a player to a guitar.
Timothy Lecheminant
Amazing place, the owner is in it for the right reasons. Everything thing she puts for sale in her store is quality, with her customers satisfaction in mind. Buying from Acoustic Music always feels like a win win.
Peggy Silva
This is a great place for all your guitar needs. From strings to tuners to the best guitars, they take care of you. Megan and Aaron will make you feel like you are part of the family. Highly recommended.
Brianna Hartzell
My favorite music store to date. I've never felt more welcomed and encouraged and at home in a music store, and connected to a music community so quickly. Great selection, great people. Thanks for what you're continuing to create, Meg.
Scott Stoker
I have done business with the guys at Acoustic Music for many years. The products are the service
are unbeatable. Also lots of great deals on used instruments. I have referred many family members and friends to Acoustic Music over the years and they have all become loyal customers as well. I would not shop anywhere else.
Heinz Kempa
How can you store so many instruments in such a small place? I instantly feel like being at home. The walls look about the same. In one corner I find a Steve Fisher guitar. The instrument tells me to take it down and play it. I do so and I'm in love. Megan shows me her favorite guitar (if I could just remeber the brand). She's right. A wonderful guitar. So the guitars, so the people. Great instruments, great people, great service.
Clayton Preece
I've been to many guitar stores all over the country and this one is by far my favorite. They have an amazing selection and excellent service.
Lhea
The employees at Acoustic Music were very informative and helpful during our visit to purchase a banjo.
Anthony Roberts
I've never been so satisfied as a customer. I walked in as an aspiring beginner and Meg told me everything I needed to know to get started. If you're looking to buy a guitar or sign up for lessons in SLC, this is where you want to go.
Paul Prosence
I bought a Taylor 414 Rosewood cutaway with v-bracing, just the guitar I was looking for! Meg is awesome, she has the coolest guitar store, she gave me a great deal. I have an awesome memory of that day!
FJ Miller III
Awesome store, great election of picks & gears as well as acoustic guitars. Guitars are not locked in place so you can wander around & try them in a relaxed comfortable setting (unlike another box store in SLC). They have Gibson, Martin, Breedlove, Taylor, Eastman, and a few others.
Cole Ferrin
Outstanding local shop! Fair prices and a lot of great guitars on the walls in every price range. Friendly and engaging staff. Very much look forward to it next visit!
Isaac Stewart
This place has been a Salt Lake City fixture for a long, long time. The owners are just eager to get people playing music, and have a clear passion for it. The owners recently turned over, which worried me at first, until the new owner was just as inviting and knowledgeable as the one before. I'll be giving them my business and recommending them to anyone who wants to buy an acoustic guitar, bass, uke, or acoustic oddity in Salt Lake as long as they're around.
Richard Chappell
This is the place to get an acoustic guitar, uke, mandolin, etc. A small shop with a friendly, welcoming vibe. I was visiting my daughter in SLC and she insisted we go and check it out. She'd been a few times and knew I'd like it. They were hosting a performance on the Saturday I went. The staff encouraged us to play offering picks and tuners.
m T
The owners care about the customers, memorized my name after my first visit and always go above and beyond with their service. They're incredibly knowledgeable and love to share information and tools. This is exactly the kind of local shop you want to support.
Jack Walpole
Great service I absolutely love it there. Friendly atmosphere. Amazing selection of guitars. I was looking for a pick and they showed me a variety of pics. And I loved the one I bought.
Randall Feuerlein
Definitely one of the best music stores I've ever been in and I have seen no small number of them. Large selection of all types of guitars and their relatives at many price ranges. They will take the time to focus on you as a customer (but be patient if they are already with someone). Number one in SLC my book. Bonuses: Every guitar off the wall that I played was in tune! Plenty of extras around like strings and fingerpicks. Great people.
Christopher Pieper
This place is everything that a local guitar shop is supposed to be. Great selection of guitars on site, all available for test driving. Competitive rates for ordering Taylors, Martins, Collings, Eastmans, etc. Also, the owner is always more than willing to give candid, professional input on any topic: guitar purchases, repairs, equipment, etc. His expertise is invaluable. I spent a lot of time on my last guitar purchase, visiting nearly every guitar shop in the region, and Acoustic Music emerged as the best.
Raul Rubio
highly recommend a visit here. they have a friendly staff and good selection of acoustic guitars.
Tally Koren
Amazing little guitar shop with a nice variety of well known brands and smaller boutique guitars. The owners and staff are definitely knowledgeable and very friendly. Would highly recommend.
John Draper
This shop has a variety of used and new instruments at all price points and does a good job with repairs and setups. I've gotten VIP treatment the last few years I've been there. They really go the extra mile to support working musicians.
Justin Stoker
I visited this store a year ago to buy my wife a guitar, the sales person was polite, kind, and helpful. He didn't make me feel intimidated with my lack of knowledge of guitars and didn't try to push on me a product that didn't fit. Since buying the guitar, I continue to shop here for all guitar needs, because I know I continuously receive the polite and helpful service that so many other places have lost.
Steve Chavis
I they have helped me out over the years I have had repairs done and sometimes just picked up strings
But I've always had a good experience with them
Ken Osborne
Outstanding people and service. Meg is a treasure.
Lu Ferrell
We stopped in to see the shop for fun when visiting our daughter down the street. Excellent, excellent selection of many instruments. Extremely friendly and personable staff. Highly recommended!
Wolfgang Wendland
Outstanding staff, atmosphere, and selection. A true gem in the world of guitar shops.
The Keva
This is a nice little place, but I have always had a hard time buying a banjo here. Years ago I tried to buy an entry level banjo here, but they had none. Recently I tried to buy an intermediate banjo, but they only had one to look at. Probably a good place to buy an entry level one, although they only have Deerings. Give the place a try - I just don't have much luck here....
Ryan Corbey
Excellent. Ukulele heaven. I went to every acoustic shop in the valley looking for the right uke. This shop has 5x the selection of everyone else. Shop guys are friendly, patient, and helpful. Prices beat everyone else too. I highly recommend this shop. Its small, local, and the best.
6 Years later update: They still rule. I left town a few years back and these guys are still my go-to for uke problem solving. I passed through town and stopped in for some strings. I asked about adding a shoulder for my kid to start to learn. They safely drilled into my uke on the spot and installed the strap buttons. Turns out, it's way easier to play with a strap. They were right. Also, I want to add a pickup to my tenor. I stumped everyone locally and then called these pro's. They know the best one and can install on the spot. Go figure. I have to drive back to town, I guess. Count your blessings SLC.
Scott Schaelling
Very kind and knowledgeable staff. Quality shop :)
Attila Papp
Great place and extremely nice service.
We just walked in with a minor Ukulele string problem and we found a friendly store, extremely positive service and a very nice and knowledgable lady radiating positive energy. It is more than a shop.

Fantastic little shop. I think the owner might be a wizard! Warm, interested in what I needed, super supportive. This place is a wee hard to see but look closely and there is a driveway leading to parking in the rear. Not very handicapped accessible but overall very charming. Not at all like a super chain

I was looking for a place that sold banjos other than guitar center, as they have low stock, and not very good banjos, I looked up on the internet where I could find more banjos, I found acoustic music. So I went there, their selections and their prices are the best I've ever seen, they're very nice people, definitely. They're super nice to children, and they're some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. They also have a great selection of Banjos, brands like Deering, Washburn, etc. They have a multitude of instruments. Guitars, Banjos, Ukeleles, even Dobros, and dulcimers. Great store. I used to go to guitar center every other Saturday to jam, now I know where I'm coming.
Jacob Batwinas
Love this place! Impressive variety of acoustic instruments. Staff is wonderfully accomedating. They let me spend an hour looking at every ukulele until I found the one that was right me. Thanks Megan and Herold and the other guy im sorry i forgot your name!

Straight shooting, sound advice is just one of the many reasons I love Acoustic Music and believe that Salt Lake City is lucky to have them.
I bought my first guitar from Acousitc Music back in the mid 90's. A used black Washburn D17 w/ a cutaway. Peter instructed me on things to look for, how to try out a guitar and ultimately helped me with the selection of the Washburn. Although I have other guitars, I still find myself coming back to this one and enjoying it.
This week I read an article and saw some video's online about a modification you can make to your guitar to help give it a better sound. It was Peter; again, who counseled me on the mod, letting me know straight away, that it's really not necessary and wouldn't really give me the benefits touted in these articles and videos. He could've just sold me on the mod and picked up some business for their luthier, but he knew that it wasn't a good move for me and told me so.
Speaking of the luthier at Acoustic Music. Brian has worked with me on more than one occasion to work on an old Kamaka 6 string Tenor ukulele that I've got and love. Because of his work and instructions on how to better care for the instrument in this climate I am still able to play it today.
I've bought instruments and gear from Acoustic Music. I've had repair work performed by their shop. I've been given good advice that's saved me money, and helped me to better care for my instruments. I've referred friends and family to the shop, and I have always heard positive things from them in regards to their experience.
Acoustic Music has been and will always be my go to shop in Salt Lake City.
Nick Johnson
I've had Acoustic Music install high quality puckups on two high quality acoustic guitars and I couldn't be happier. The pickups sound great and have withstood the test of performing on the road! I highly recommend Acoustic Music, they're true professionals!

Traveling through SLC with a Baby Taylor, the action of which was too high. Brian adjusted the neck while I waited and then gave me some useful info about Taylors in general (I have a DN3 at home) but wouldn't take any money for it. Then he sold me four $1 picks for the price of three and explained the trade offs (thicker sounds better but is harder to hold if, like me, you didn't know that). If I lived in Salt Lake Acoustic Music would be my store.
