Not the best Guitar Center but not the worst. The selection of instruments has been growing since the pandemic so that’s nice to see. This stores platinum room is probably the better one in the area although the amps in the room could be a lot better. One thing that makes or breaks this store is the staff half are nice and will help you out the other will stand over you and push you really hard to buy something it’s really annoying. I walked away from a 1960a Marshall Cab because one of the workers was so pushy. Got to remember your not the only music store in the area plus online stores these days so customer service is what wins the sale.

Came here the day after Christmas 12/26/2022 - store was slammed with customers and they were understaffed - but i'm leaving 5 stars because the employees who were there handled it like champs. Can't exactly remember the name of the person who helped me but I think it was Jay. Just wanted to shout out the crew working there on this date so management can give them some recognition. They were juggling like crazy and keeping their cool.

Has just about everything I need from a music store. I’m a singer, keyboardist, and learning other instruments so I go here from time to time to stock up on the essentials. Usually in and out in less than 10-15 mins including checkout. Staff is nice, although sometimes they seem a little stressed out and rushed. But my observation is that some of the guests are challenging. Just get in, get your stuff, and keep going.

A busy, active place. Purchased 2 Wasburn acoustics that came with basic gig bags. Due to inventory issues only one bag could be found. Edgar hooked us up with a bag off the rack. It was a fine experience thanks to Edgar.

Love this place! A little quiet but sometimes that’s a good thing! Jam out out without distraction! I had a guitar string and tuned in the same day. I was told it was about a 1 week turnaround but the guy called me back a few hours later informing me that it was finished! Amazing service! Great work and thank you!

Five stars for Fuchs and Guitar Center! My wife and I are a bit eccentric and have cobbled together a karaoke setup out of old components we have around. We don't really know what we're doing, we just plug things into each other and see if we can get sound to come out. When one of those components went on the fritz, we took it to a repair shop who told us we'd been misusing it and should go to Guitar Center for new, karaoke-specific components. We took an inventory of our equipment with us, and Fuchs met us just inside the door. He listened to the story of our setup patiently, telling us why some things we'd tried didn't work and why some did, and in the end he helped us come up with a plan that didn't involve us purchasing ANYTHING. He could probably have sold us something new, but he clearly respected (and perhaps even shared?) our affection for old stuff and focused instead on helping us figure out the best way to make it work. Class act. And it's awesome that Guitar Center gives a bright guy like Fuchs latitude to choose for himself when to focus on selling and when to focus on dispensing wisdom. When our old junk does fail us, we'll head to Guitar Center to replace it.

He was a straight shooter, and I feel like he understood both what we wanted and what we needed, and didn't try to sell us new stuff we didn't need or want. Its a guitar center. Pretty much your bog standard run of the mill big box music shop. There are a lot of smaller privately owned shops in town. However they often have strange hours and limited selection. If you're looking for basic gear it definitely serves in a pinch. Don't leave anything valuable in your car though, this is an awful neighborhood.

Fantastic experience with Travis (there are two - the one I dealt with was the drummer from Atlanta). Bought a Alesis Command kit and a drum monitor over a few day period. He was super friendly and knowledgeable throughout the process without being pushy in the slightest. There’s a guitar center closer to me but I kept coming back here instead because of Travis. Thanks, dude. You crushed it.

Great experience on this trip, though I will say that my sales guy this time seemed like he wasn't too excited to help me. I don't want this to reflect my overall experience though, I was cold called by a happy chick last week that was inviting me to come for a promotion for free guitar lessons for me and the kids. I wanted to take them down, things came up, but they thought of me.

Guitar Center is a great store in & of itself. Nice array of guitars/keyboards/mics/etc. Will probably get my next Roland keyboard there. The AREA surrounding the store is VERY SKETCHY with druggies & homeless at every turn...not good IMHO. Park near the entrance.

Not the biggest selection of guitars or basses. Decent selection of amplifiers. I think they had 2 extended range (7-8 string) guitars... One last thing, the guy I spoke to wasn't the most knowledgeable as well. I actually had to correct him on pricing and the release of a certain instrument. Not by any means trying to down the store, just sharing my experience. 👍

Good place, had all the guitars locked and limited people to unlock guitars so I could demo them. Was going to buy one but it was a hassle to demo various instruments because the are locked. Left without buying, stopped an impulse buy.

Edgar is the man, got me in and out, set up with all the gear I needed in no time. Like most Guitar Center locations the employee to customer ratio can be strained when a small crowd shows up, but Edgar works at light speed and will get you set up quick!

A couple friends and I went in to this guitar center for the first time and I have to admit: We were all pleasantly surprised. Don't judge a book by its cover, because outside it looks kind of meh... But once you step foot indoors, it was really neat store! The staff were courteous and very knowledgeable; and I felt like they were providing appropriate accommodations for what is going on in our world. Will be returning, I think! Management - seriously think about giving the exterior a face lift because it honestly made us think twice about going in.

Listen, I'm sure we've all had our fair share of diverse experiences with Guitar Centers over the years, but I gotta say this place did a GREAT job setting up my P bass. Kent the guitar tech is fantastic; he was super professional and made this bass play like new. If you're need work done go visit this shop.

Went in to look for an amp for my niece. I spotted a left handed Ibanez and had to have it. Also scored a decent fender amp for my niece for under a hundred bucks. Travis was courteous and helpful and had me on my way quickly. All in all it didn't suck.

I picked up an open box PA and an xlr mic to replace my old setup, it was a good price, and I'm happy with it. I was going to take star off for the kinda pushy warrantee upsell, but they did toss in a cable for me so I figure its a wash.

In May, I stopped in to Guitar Center’s Hayden Island location in Portland to have my new Firefly guitar adjusted by luthier Kent Ellingson. I was pleasantly surprised to find him capable, honest, patient and generous with his time. I had already trued up the intonation and lifted the bridge to minimize fret buzz, but as this was my first electric guitar, I thought it would require some actual fret work. Yet after a thorough inspection, Kent explained that the action needed to be adjusted down, not up, that minimal fret buzz was normal, inaudible from the amplifier, and admitted that whatever further adjustments he would make would be slight. What a pleasure to meet a technician so straightforward and helpful. If my guitar drifts out of adjustment in the future, I’ll know just where to go.

Despite having so many staff members, the service here is mediocre at best. The nice thing for customers is this store is pretty quiet and carries many essentials. Saving on tax on larger purchases is great too for Washington residents. I wish I could be wowed by the staff here

If you know what you want you can usually find it here. The sales people don't push, but they are very willing to help if you have any questions. I've purchased 3 of my guitars from this store and all my strings, picks, and supplies. I've been to other smaller stores that just want to sell you the most expensive things you can afford.. These guys don't ask your budget, they only ask what you're looking for or what you want to get from an instrument and then they show you what they have. I'm an intermediate player so I usually know what I want when I go here, but recently I purchased an electric acoustic and the salesman helped me figure out which fit my playing style the best. You can buy anything you want here except for talent. But they can teach you that!

The local store is great. However, been shopping on line with them for a used drum kit. Super hard because most of the shops only have a single photo posted, and often blurry or crowded around other bits and pieces, nothing is listed in the description as to what, if any hardware is included. Most sets are missing things like tom holders. So, emailing the store to find out details takes a while to get a response, and then you'll find out parts are missing. Makes it super hard to shop online.

Everytime I come around, I always seem to find new things to catch my interest. One of those things being that the employees Always have new things to tell me about bettering my craft and expanding my knowledge of equipment and what they can do better than the competition. I'd say, with their expansive selection and the hospitality of the employees, I'd recommend looking for great deals and items of your taste and interest, here.

This location often feels understaffed. However, once I tracked down an employee for assistance with an acoustic guitar he kept checking back on me and took the time to discuss options. Once i settled on the guitar i would go on to purchase he saw the entire sale through and even helped me decide on accessories. Not the employee's fault he's busy, but if you're willing to be patient with them, they will help you with what you need. They also offer a 45 day return policy if you're not happy with purchase. That's for the acoustic guitars at least...

I have heard a lot of bad things about other guitar centers. This GC is nothing less than awesome. From the manager, Brandon, to the entire floor staff. Josh, Joe, and the others. You won't find a better GC in the portland, or area. This location is in Delta Park.

I was shown courtesy by not being "hawked". Once I figured out what guitar I wanted to play approached a gal at the desk and asked for help. (You had to get on a ladder). She came in, gave me the guitar and left me in peace. She came in about 15 minutes later and asked if I had any questions. I told her musicians friend had it for $300 cheaper and would they honor it. She left to speak with a manager. She returned with a brand new unopened guitar and said they would honor the price .. and that she was amazed they actually had a brand new one in stock which is great because thw floor model was well used and had dings in it. I asked her what gauge strings the Martins used and she said, 12 and Taylors use 13". She was super helpful, nice and knowledgable. Great experience as always at GC!

I ordered a Clarinet and had it shipped to this location. When we went down to pick it up, we found it defective, and had to return it and order one again. Apparently, we did not like that, especially because it was a 3 hour drive from my place. Surprisingly, the staff there, Wes, made sure that he ordered it again and would have it shipped to my place, with no extra charge! About one week later, we received the Clarinet with no issue at all. My son received his birthday gift a little late, but he loves it! Thanks a lot, Wes!!

I buy a lot of gear from Guitar Center. They have a lot of the same DJ gear that everyone else has however there was one main difference. Clint Kuper! He was such a big help. He greeted me immediately upon my arrival and answered all of my questions. I do a lot of research online before buying things but he knew so much more beyond what I found online. He pointed me in the right direction and the gear he suggested was the best possible for what I wanted to do. He is so helpful. Now I buy all of my DJ gear from guitar center and always ask for Clint Kuper. I suggest you do the same. He is a big help!

Went to GC to inquire about the Seymour Duncan JB Model Humbucker and other pick ups hoping for some knowledge on a good Bridge pickup, the guitar technician said the JB pickup is made for the neck position but of course the packaging says that they recommend it in the Bridge position. Moral of the story is don't take advice from the GC "technician" do some research on the blogs and make a shopping list:) Also all the floor sales people came up asking if I had questions (which is nice) but when I asked if they were in the Guitar Dept the answer was always "I could be" meaning they don't know much and don't have good advice but they want your commission. My favorite employee is Fuchs, he has never steered me in the wrong direction. Hope this helps!
