For anyone looking to buy a piano, I highly recommend Classic Pianos Portland, as the dealership is both highly professional and offers a large selection of both high quality used and new pianos. I worked with both Fred and Taylor and both were very friendly, courteous and trustworthy. I purchased a used Yamaha G2 piano that was in excellent condition and the price I paid was very fair and was a great value on price vs performance. I am so grateful that Fred and Taylor were able to help me to find the perfect piano for my home.

We had a brand new Yamaha U1 in two weeks during the crazy pandemic time and my kid was able to start his lessons right away. He also tuned my piano after purchase. When we decided to move across the country, we were sad at the thought of having to give up the piano and equally stressed about how we might go about selling and moving it. My experience at Classic Pianos has been the best hands down out of any piano store/tuning service. As a former piano technician myself, and current professional classical/jazz pianist, I can’t recommend Fred Riley enough. Fred was SUPER patient and kind. I think I spent about an hour improvising on different pianos to find one with the right tone and action. He was attentive to my feedback as I assessed each piano that he brought me to, and was able to intuit my musical needs, eventually bringing me to the perfect piano. I settled on a beautifully maintained upright 1967 Steinway which was a bit out of my price range. But Fred worked with me on the price and we came to a very reasonable agreement, and with a payment plan and excellent warranty I came out with the piano of my dreams. Fred offered me a lifetime buy-back policy on the piano for an upgrade in the future! Can’t really beat that. The price on moving was extremely reasonable as well, and executed flawlessly. The first tuning was performed by Fred Riley as well. He was precise, quick and efficient. My piano was tuned perfectly for my studio recording needs. Definitely a 5 star piano store and tuning service all around.

Where do I even begin?! Fred Riley absolutely blew us away with our entire experience. He was so knowledgeable, kind, honest, and genuinely a ton of fun. He helped us find the dream piano, let us hang out in his amazing office/studio for a bit, and even played us a few things. As far as customer service goes, I’m not sure anywhere can beat this place. Everyone was incredible. They will bend over backwards to help you find exactly what you want and make sure you have a blast during the whole process. 10/10 recommend!

This place is a hidden gem and such a great find for the new enthusiast or experienced player. They have a massive showroom for plenty of acoustic pianos as well as digital/hybrid pianos. The staff were incredibly helpful post-sale in helping me make adjustments to my purchase and especially with coordinating with delivery. Fred was so helpful in helping me find the right piano and worked with me on pricing and getting an amazing deal. I'm so glad this place has survived post pandemic and strongly encourage anyone to give them a look. The fact that they offer a two-year full trade-in/trade-up option is incredible and what helped me make my final selection.

Fred Riley’s the greatest salesman ever. After a short conversation on the phone he advised a specific course of independent research to educate myself which I engaged in with diligence. I then called again and after only a few minutes Fred knew exactly what we needed and we were were invited to come stay at their private accommodation next door to their showroom. First off, me and my family have been long time customers of Classic Pianos for the last 20 years. I myself have played for over 15 years and have purchased many pianos from Classic Piano's. Classic Piano's is known for their large selection of used and new pianos which range from uprights to exotic grand pianos. I can't say enough praise for the staff members that work here. In particular, recently I had the pleasure of shopping with Fred Riley. Fred is one of the most enthusiastic, knowledgeable, detail oriented, and caring individuals I have experienced shopping at Classic Pianos. Recently I had been on a mission to find myself an upright piano to put into my new home I had just moved into. I did not have a prior appointment but upon calling Classic Pianos I managed to be fit into the schedule courtesy of Fred Riley. I had explained to him my price range, features, size, and brand that I was looking for in my piano and Fred was mindful to stay within those parameters. From there, Fred proceeded to give me options matching my specifications ranging from the discount basement all the way up to the 'luxury' options. I was then left alone with many options available to me which was very appreciated because I find it difficult to properly access the quality of the piano being watched over. In addition, Fred made sure to regularly check in as well. Although Fred had matched my specifications, the options presented to me didn't quite hit the mark; however, Fred was adamant in finding me a piano that I would fall in love with. He then guided me to a new used piano that had just come into the shop. He stressed to not worry on the price if that was an issue, due to the fact this piano was out of my initial price range I had given, but instead to play the piano to assess the quality to see if it matched what I was looking for. From there I was left alone with the piano and regularly checked on like usual. Immediately from the moment I played the piano I knew that this was exactly what I was looking for. Although the piano was out of my price range, Fred worked his magic and was able to make it fit where the price was only a touch over budget, which I was astonished by given the model I had been playing on. (The price given was quite unheard of). From there, the process was seamless. I was then given options on financing, trading in my old piano etc. It has been three months since my purchase of my 130 Schimmel and I couldn't be happier. The piano has since been paid in full, fully tuned to perfection by Fred Riley himself (free of charge). This is just one story of my experiences at Classic Pianos, but it sure will not be the last. If you are looking for a personal shopping experience where you are not bombarded in a car salesman like fashion and pressured into purchasing a piano, then this is the spot for you. Classic Piano's is equipped with the most committed staff that work tirelessly to meet your piano needs and truly do care about your happiness of your purchase even after you have paid for your piano in full. They offer full services from purchasing the piano, to delivery, to tuning. If we could give Fred Riley a higher rating, we certainly would. Not only did he listen to what we said we wanted, but, even more important, he listened to how my husband sampled and played the many different pianos at Classic. Working with Taylor at Classic Pianos was a unique and incredible experience. The historic space is beautiful, and walking to the showroom you pass a front room of various pianos being worked on. My experience with Taylor was not salesy. In fact, it was more like a hands-on gallery visit. He showed me and played all of the pianos that were available within my interests, with zero pressure. Upon returning the next day after they held the one I selected, I went down with his assistant Junko, who is also an accomplished pianist. She played for me beautifully on my piano for a few minutes before offering me a selection of sheet music and the room to myself to play as long as I liked before finalizing my decision. Then one of the technicians even came down with me to check out something I noticed while playing, and taught me more about the string replacement process while walking me back through the showroom. They also offered flexible financing options and I was able to provide that info onsite while I was there though you can also do it online. The delivery team called quickly to schedule delivery and a team of three, arriving in a company-branded truck, expertly delivered and positioned my piano without leaving as much as a pine needle in my house. I could not be more satisfied with this memorable and touching experience. I didn’t want to process to end; it was warm, friendly and feels like a family. I give Classic Pianos my highest recommendation.

Wow. Where do I even start. The customer service? The selection? The atmosphere? All 5 stars. In fact, I would give Classic Pianos 100 stars if I could. My daughter and I first discovered CP when she started taking Suzuki lessons with Eithne in the back of the building, wonderful experience, amazing teacher, highly recommend. Eventually we needed to have our old spinet tuned, so naturally we called Classic pianos, this was when we first had the pleasure of meeting Fred Riley - absolutely amazing work! Somehow, this man can tune an untunable instrument, hats off to you sir! The piano sounded better than it ever had. Fast forward a year or two; My daughter is getting older so we decide it is FINALLY time to trade up for an overall better piano, perhaps even one that will stay in tune! Of course, at Classic Pianos you can purchase a piano built for the Queen of England, but we were in the market for a smaller used spinet. (Please note that our original less-then-great piano was free out of a stranger's basement and NOT from Classic Pianos, they don't sell you garbage.) Scheduling an appointment online was fast, simple, and intuitive. We were in the next day! To my delight we got to visit with our good friend Fred Riley, again!! It was the most fun we have had in a long time. Fred is most definitely the friendliest guy on the planet, he's also probably the most interesting man of the 21st century. I told him exactly what I was in the market for and what our goals were with the instrument (student piano, small children, might get *slightly* abused, etc.). He walked us around the shop and introduced us to the perfect most beautiful little spinet ever. It was love at first sight. He effortlessly worked with me on my budget; "whaaaat?! no sales tactics?!" Yep, that's correct, he set me up with a great price that was in my budget. In all honesty I was initially nervous about walking in there because I am simply your average working class single mother. Lower middle class at best. I can't even play an instrument to save my life. But not once during the selling/buying experience did Fred ever make me feel silly or like my budget was low. There was no pressure at all, in fact, he made me feel human, like we belonged in this super fancy piano shop! Did I mention that the shop is immaculate, high end, and beautiful? Because it absolutely is. From start to finish it was a wonderful experience. Working with Rowen during the signing process was also a fantastic delight! I shared with Fred the interest I had in a Shimmel C169 Piano and questioned him about price and service. He answered all of my questions and concerns, I told him I would get back with him in an few days and let him know my decision. After a few days I called Fred back and told him I wanted the piano. Upon the arrival of my new Shimmel Piano it was everything and more that Fred had told and promised me. THE BEST! I can’t say enough wonderful things about Fred Riley and Classic Pianos. When my wife and I were married, I gifted her a Yamaha Clavinova digital piano. This year, for our wedding anniversary, we were finally ready for an upgrade. My wife and I went to the showroom with our daughters, and Fred was fantastic! He showed us different options and clearly explained the benefits of different packages. And a month later, Fred came over for a tuning. All of this at no additional cost to me! It’s 2021 and there are few companies that would go to this level for a customer, especially after the sale was finished. Shopping at Classic Pianos Portland shop is such a pleasure! This is the second piano Fred Riley has found for me. After my Schimmel was ruined beyond repair in a cross-country move, it was hard because I was so attached to that beautiful Schimmel. Without a doubt, Fred had found me the perfect first piano. I called Fred, and went down to Portland -- he worked his magic again! Fred gives you plenty of time to try each potential piano; I spent over two hours trying different pianos. My new Estonia grand arrived this week, and it is thrilling to fill our living room with music again, all thanks to Fred. He is an amazing person! I cannot thank him enough!
