I like this store. Lots of cool things, and we bought some cool things. Would have been a 5 out of 5 but they forgot my moon pie at the check out. I will never forgive the cashier who rang me up despite me forgetting their name and what they looked like. You have made a mediocre enemy tonight, Zia's at Camelback. Zia Records is my go to spot for anything music and is the best Indie record store. I have been going to this location the last few years and I usually spend a lot more time there than planned as they have a wide variety of offerings. This store is super clean and merchandise and aisles are kept in order which makes browsing around much easier. There are stores in Phoenix, Chandler, Tempe, Mesa, Tucson, and Las Vegas and customer service is very cordial and accommodating. They have exclusive merchandise covering CD,'s, DVD's, Vinyl, Books, Instruments and all kinds of collectibles from Barbie Dolls to Star Wars including Toy's and Figurines. They also have novelty items, apparel, and video games. This store is right off the Light Rail on Camleback and 19thavenue in Central Phoenix and offers in-store pickup. In-store shopping does prefer a mask be worn, but I forgot mine and was not hassled about it. They have dividers at checkout and disinfect surfaces. Zia Records or Zia Record Exchange has been around since 1980. Their entrance and parking lot are Wheelchair accessible. They take Credit Card payments from the following currently; American Express, China Union Pay, Discover, JCB, MasterCard, and VISA. Enjoy!

Unfortunately they don't carry up to date magazines. Came in looking for a recent Rolling Stone magazine. They told me of they have magazines,they wont be current. Other than this, it's a great for a lot of stuff

This place holds so many childhood memories. My very best friend and I were in Junior high and her older sister would take us on the regular. It was the coolest always getting the newest singles that came out and jamming back home listening and singing to the blarring radio. God I miss those days, but forever grateful for them. Store has such a strange set up with the merchandise, high end classics behind the counter(understandable) but hard to see/view, artist sporadically labeled in the bins, staff offers to help you and then you never see them again, greet you when you come in but you know being older I guess I have a different idea of customer service having worked back in the day Strawberry, Tower Records so much fun, anyway those days aren't coming back

Everytime I go to ZIA, I always find what I'm looking for. Today, ( Fri.) Oct.14th 2022 a young handsome man with longer hair helped me to find a cd with a certain song by Aaliyah that I Absolutely could not find by my song title. He could not find it, and I was sad. But by the time I was checking out with my granddaughter ......he found it!!! He did research on the computer, went & got the cd for me.......I am so very thankful for the young man's valuable time. Thank you ZIA for hiring people like this young man.!!! He is truly a Asset for your company.I will always do business with the ZIA on 19th Ave. & Camelback.

Recently ordered my favorite shows from online and got them within a week. Super impressed! I always went into a location because the selection is amazing however with everything going on I found exactly what I needed online. Support your favorite business! I’ve always loved Zia. Overall, ZIA is favorite place for me to shop. I don't have issues with pricing at the store. Some things are overpriced but nobody is going to force me to buy them. What I don't like about this store is novelty items don't have a dedicated area. They're spread throughout the store. The search for them is like an easter egg hunt. The novelty items should be within the same general area for customer convenience. In my opinion, ZIA at Thunderbird offers a better experience, even if it's a smaller store.

My wife and I love going to Zia Records! I love looking for a retro toys and she loves Stephen King books as you can tell. ZIA records go to is I 17 and Thunderbird just head about a half mile east on Thunderbird, the staff at Zia Records are so pleasant and knowledgeable about their stock.

Like all the other Zia Records locations, the staff and selection are the main reasons I shop there. Even though it's not the closest to home, I visit the Camelback store a lot because it's more open and tends to be less crowded... and free wi-fi!

This place has all kinds of goodies here. From books, movies, toys, video games to clothes and of course music. I like to shop here every once and awhile. I even found a #1 wonder woman pewder figure. I'm guessing it's gonna be worth something later.

Talk about retro, vintage and new! This place is amazing! There is so much variety that any one from any era will love this place from music to movies to toys and clothes! Great place for music movies and gifts, always the first stop on my hunt for others (and myself). Pop culture, indie, rock, kpop, classical, music, movies, video games, books, they have it all, and are only surpassed by their customer service. The points program is a huge plus, and they buy, sell, and trade with great rates, even started doing clothes recently. If you hear something you like playing, ask an employee and they will find the song for you!

I had a wonderful experience at this Zia Records, the was staff was very helpful after I finished ringing up my items they let me hold them at the front for safe keeping while I looked around waiting for my friends to be done, when I asked for the bag back they made sure I got it right away. One member of the staff was extremely helpful Taylor helped me order in some DVDs, brought things off shelves for me to look at and helped me and another customer on break, She was very kind and had a wonderful attitude I look forward to shopping here again they have a great selection and a fantastic staff I would definitely recommend this shop.

Good store, decent merchandise. It use to have a lot of cool stuff, now it's sort of meh in my opinion. Employees are pretty nice too, and seem to know where most stuff is. It's worth to check it, but maybe window shop at first though.

Aside from the parking lot, this place is alright. Get your nostalgia fix or find your collectable. Lots of weirdos outside but I'm not sure that Zia's really has a say about the locals just outside their door. Bring a little car for easiest parking. It's cramped sometimes.

Pretty hard to have a bad experience that's pretty much have everything you need service is always good, and the only reason I gave this the four out of five is I did not like how they had the concert DVDs laid out. This is one of my favorite locations by far. The staff is always nice and i feel liek they usually have a good assortment of things! Prices are usually faif for most items and doing trades or selling things here is always fast and simple. Super cool place if you like games, books, movies, or any kind of music.

I love the idea of Zia. It's not just records, but really anything pop culture related that can be considered collectible (save for sports, which is a shame, they could totally do with a weird or obscured sports section with cards and equipment. Badminton, frisbee golf, go-karts, etc). My only hang-up is their trade-in department. You can bring your own old stuff to trade-in for store credit or sell for cash. Now, a pawn shop will give you about 50% of what they think they can sell the item for. Zia does the same for store credit, but removes 30% or more if you want cash. Just something to keep in mind. The staff here at Camelback is fantastic though, don't get me wrong. Thunderbird, awesome store but don't dance around anyone. They dance too well and will win the dance off. Love y'all stay safe I'm not 50 btw Just a minor edit, last version of this review I was a bit tired. Stay jazzy y'all

Great place to browse around if you have nothing going on. The prices are pretty high on the second hand stuff outside of movies which isn't that big of a deal. The rewards program is pretty cool if you shop there a lot. Has pretty much something for everybody.

I've been to the Camelback and Thunderbird locations a few times and have received excellent service every time. Great selection of new and used vinyl/CDs. Also the adhesive price tags can be removed easily leaving no residue on the album cover. Small yet important detail. They are definitely my first stop when I need an album.

Zia Records feels like what you wanted the Spencer's in the mall to be. Good selection of eclectic Goods for your senses. I've made countless trips to all of the Zia locations in Phoenix over the past several years and I can't really think of any reason not to check this place out if you're into any sort of music, video games, movies, toys, or just about any other retro media you can think of. Not only can you buy media here, but you can also trade it in for a reasonable about of money for store credit or cash. Just be aware that trade-ins can sometimes take awhile depending on how busy the store is, which can be good or bad depending on how much you enjoy wandering around the store while you wait. Do yourself a favor and check out Zia Records!

Usually somewhat fair on trades and sales unless you are unlucky enough to get the big tall dude with long hair he will seriously burn you and is not very friendly. Very diverse and obscure music selection.Staff is always friendly and very knowledgeable musically as well. I go to this Zias on a fairly regular basis and never have had a bad experience there. Buy my incense here. They have the best priced incense then anywhere else I have found. And I've been to a LOT of the smoke shops etc. They carry not just the small boxes but the very large ones and also in between! They also carry all types of novelty items, comic books, "regular" books. Etc etc. Great place! Been coming here forever. Don't see stopping any time soon! If you've been living under a rock & haven't been here yet , just moved here from a different state or are an alien briefly visiting earth and are looking for a great place to buy your music (actually SUPPORT the bands you like/love instead of downloading free off the net) or wanna check out some of the other items I mentioned, check this place out! You won't be disappointed, I'm sure!! 🙂👍👍

I like this location better than their Thunderbird location. The staff seems a little more friendly. They have a huge selection and if you can't find what you're looking for they can order it for you with free delivery. I collect vinyl records and every time I go I find what I want. And then some. And the prices are fair.

I should note that while its not anything against the customer service or selection of media/ stock Zia has, the location is not the best and there is always a lot of homelessness loitering in front of and around the building.

Been to many Zia locations and this one is great and unique. Large vinyl record and gaming section. Definitely a location to spend time in and browse. Easy to move around in. Parking lot is small but easy to manage. Line to check out didn't take long at all. Everyone on the floor and the counter have always been friendly.

Movies 2 for $3 And good movies like The Note Book, 300, Legends of the fall etc. Best place for old time CD's up to date for $5 or $8 and yes I know you can download music these days but seriously nothing better than the old times. Fun place, great stuff, lovely people. They need to upgrade their point of sale badly, though. My card was declined 4 times, and my sister had to pick up my tab. And then, the next night, the charge went through on my account. That being said, though, getting the money back was fairly simple, and the people were nice about it.

Still the best place to buy used movies and music, along with toys, books and electronic devices. Make sure you get a Zia Card, everytime you but or sell it puts points on your account to be used as credit when buying. It adds up fast. Nice bonus.

I really enjoyed the vinyl selection. The building and location are kind of odd and the employees could be a little more welcoming. Although, my only real complaint is that they wouldn't let me use their restroom. You could spend a lot of time searching through the vinyl selection, so a bathroom would have been great.

Everything is average retail price if not higher. I really do enjoy their assortment of Pop's! Just love this place! They have so many CD 💿 and DVD 📀 from starting at 99 cents to $25.00. If you can't find what you want they will look for it for you. If it is at a different location then they will get to the closest place to you, so you will not need to drive a long distance. They also have a lot of collection of things for you to get. From games to clothing. All for a price that you can afford.

Zia is the best. If you want a movie, it's there. If you want a gift for your nerdy friend, it's there. If you want slightly sassy but good customer service from people who are way cool than you, it's there. Love love love the book selection. They always have something that will tempt me and push me past my pre assigned budget. It isn't huge, but the values are! And they have things I'd never find otherwise. Neighborhood isn't great. But they hire a security guard and I appreciate that.

Amazing place they have everything!! Vinyl, CD's, DVD's, books and merch from different shows and movies. My favorite thing is there sock collection its outstanding, i know that's silly but they're so awesome. They've got a big selection. You have to check the tags, because some are used and some are new. They're supposed to check the used CD's as they buy them from people, and I honestly think that they do. I haven't gotten any that were that were really bad. I mean you've got to remember they are used, there's going to be a little static or a pop here and there. The new ones have been good. It was a little disorganized from customers just putting them back just about anywhere, but the staff did a pretty good job keeping them somewhat straight. Big store they had a lot of other things there like books, movies, memorabilia. I didn't have time to look at the whole place. But I liked what I saw and prices were cheap for the used stuff and maybe a little high for the new.

I can’t with a good conscious give this particular location a full 5 stars but don’t get me wrong this place has a great inventory and I always find something crazy here! My experience at this location has been pretty consistent with the staff and that they are passively rude and appear to be bothered when you ask them for help. Not to fond of it but I generally know my way around the store so I don’t have to apparently inconvenience them. I took some stuff to trade in and was mildly annoyed that the guy treated my stuff like a pawn shop and making me negotiate rather than just telling me what they were offering. I don’t trade in too often so I’m not sure if it’s their regular procedure but I’ve taken stuff to other locations like my personal favorite store on thunderbird and I’ve never had to play pawn stars with them. Store is good the inventory is great but they need to work on their people skills at the camelback location.

I was a little disappointed because I had to sale a brand new pair of Xbox Bluetooth head phones. I paid $249+tax. And I didn't have the receipt and I really needed the cash so I remembered Zia's but they paid me $33 or 45 if I used all the money in their store. I literally was hungry and needed gas money so I could work for GrubHub so it was a big chunk of money I loss and I know they are going to sale for way more, but I still gave them 3 stars because I still was able to buy a whole meal and make deliveries so I could make more money. So 2 stars disappointed and 3 stars grateful🥰.

This is a cool, local chain of record/ book/game/collectible store. This one is a little bit "ghetto" because of it's location. Be prepared for arguments at the register or where they offer money for traded in items. However, there is so much cool stuff here! You'll find DVD's and Books at a great deal. Lots of fun and unique items to be found. Be careful though, you may find a book, movie or CD for one price only to find it for half the price right next to it. ***update***Still the same, awesome! Laurence is cool, staff helpful. Protip: open your used cds in the parking lot. I had a case with no cd in it. They gave me a refund but I had to drive back from across town!

Music, games, books, and collectables; Prices are wildly different for the same product. If you have the time to find 6 different copies of Terminator2 they will all have a different price. A little hunting could save you a lot of green but it can take time. Otherwise a great store, helpful staff. Tip: say "no" to a bag at checkout and they will give you a puzzle piece to donate to charity as you leave. Good people.

I’ve been hanging out at Zia since the mid-90s when I first moved to Phoenix. As much as I like smaller boutique record shops, Zia keeps pulling me back. Their prices are usually a cut below everyone’s and their selection is far better than the other shops in town. I still visit the others and buy records, CDs, and music DVDs from everyone, but Zia gets half my business and the rest split the other 50%. I confess that I’ll pay an extra buck or two to keep everyone else in business. There are places I love shopping and there are places with cool people, but Zia has the inventory. I can’t help it. Also, as I get older and my collection keeps growing (10,000+ CDs & 2000+ LPs) I find myself buying duplicates and their 30 day no hassle return policy is very customer focused.

The metro lite rail stop right in front or their door. When you call for product information they will give you purchasing options as well as your best cost. I am new to ZIAs, less than a year, I enjoy going to search for movies I remember but forgot the name. That what make it fun, the staff has tremendous knowledge of past Movies. I recently as about a category and when I went to the category, I was amazed. I spent hours going through DVDs.

Zia's always has really cute items. Sometimes they're alittle overpriced but it's like one of the only places to buy pop culture items in person and not online (that isn't hot topic). If you're selling items it's kind of a rip off, you'd probably having better luck selling it on offer up. But if you're looking to get rid of things quickly it'll work. I sold 11 items for $10.

As others have stated the area is not the best, to put it nicely. There's a bus stop on the actual sidewalk attached to the store where I have personally seen bums fight, across from a light rail station and down the block from a liquor store. Those three things draw a certain crowd who occasionally wander into the store. That being said I have never felt unsafe inside the actual store. Great assortment of media and pop culture merchandise. The staff is awesome and helpful for the most part. That being said don't expect everyone in there to have a vast knowledge of each media form they sell. I've talked to a few employees who really seem into music and some who I don't think could work a turntable, but maybe they're super into film and could help someone out there. If you're an amateur record collector you're not going to feel looked down upon by some vinyl snob hipster working the counter like some other places. Being a vinyl snob hipster myself though, I usually only buy new vinyl here as their used selection varies in price with no real rhyme or reason. Some stuff is really overpriced and some can be got for a steal. With zia not being a record only store the person working the trade counter may (and has) overlook small details in the specific pressing of a record and put a $10 price tag on a $100 piece of wax. So if you have time to dig than you may find something great. I like their point card loyalty system a lot. Makes it worth the drive to pick something up there to get the points if I'm going to buy it anyways.

They have some unique items .I notice that for some used items they where overpriced. Zia Record Exchange has a lot more than the name implies. Of course it is music and videos in about every format ever made as well as games for all types of consoles. They have a large selection of music and video memorabilia and some of them are Collectibles as well. Merchandise for various musical artists and bands available as well as a few gag gifts. They now carry a very large selection of used books and some new books. The thing I like best is that they will trade ins for store credit so you can keep getting new books at less price. The staff there is well-trained personable and knowledgeable in their areas so don't hesitate to ask them anything you need. Every shopping experience that I have had has been wonderful.

This place was amazing. The gadgets, music and all things etcetera were consuming. I literally could spend days in there. My boyfriend and I spent half an hour in the vinyl section...and no; we don’t own a record player. The staff was a little bit of a let down. They are definetly cooler than you- and they will let you know it. But let them have their time to shine, anywhere but Zia they get sideways glances, no doubt. Eh, the items for sale are neat enough to shake it off.

Ive never had a single problem at this store. Some trades were not where I wanted them, but 90% of the time it is fair to me. Manager was nice to me on a late return because I wanted the blu ray instead of the Dvd, and that was cool. Records are pricey on used oldies, but sometimes they do red tag discounts. Blu rays are priced extremely well. Most retro games are in great condition and Ive never returned anything in games or electronics. Overall, I shop here every week or when I have cash to burn. The selection is fantastic. If there is a movie, book, a novel or a retro video game you have been desperately searching for, there is a chance you will find it here. They also have small trinkets scattered all over the store such as coffee mugs, action figures, collectable miniature statues and so forth. It's designed very well and is fun to just browse their wide selection of merchendise to find hidden gems. The biggest downside is their prices, a lot of their used dvd's will run you upwards of five dollars. That isn't going to break the bank but you can buy the same movie at your local pawn shop for a couple of bucks. They don't seem to be too aware of the market value for a lot of their items and therefore usually are well over priced. Having said all of that, it's a fantastic atmosphere for those that don't mind slightly over paying.

Another entertainment outlet. You can buy or sell. As far as music, the absolute newest stuff is always a little less expensive than catalogue albums in shrink wrap. But you might find it used ranging from just under 10 dollars to under a buck before tax. If you're selling first you'll be asked for id. Then they go through all your stuff and usually in no more than a half hour they'll have your deal ready. You always get more in store credit but the cash deal is always better than Bookman's.

Love Zia and would chose them over any other store that offers their service any day! The wait for trades is usually 30+ minutes, but keep in mind this place is the best and well known. Simple solution - Don't go when you're in a hurry! Downfall store specific: * no public bathroom... Please add one for those of us who do actually wait patiently without bugging the trade counter every 5 minutes to see when they'll be finished. * everyone coming in the store stops by the trade counter to ask where items are and such. When you have someone asking a question every 2 minutes... employee gets interrupted, helps customer, trade customers get upset, employees get upset...big mess. Move trade counter, hire more employees to be farther back and more secluded and they aren't asked questions, or some other solution that will resolve the issue. **highest trade/cash amount I've found in Phoenix** Company specific: More stores in Phoenix (preferably west side)!

I really appreciate this Zia. This one is bigger than most I've been too. It is in a slightly um sketchy area but the nicest and helpful employees are at this zia. There an amazing selection of books moves and most of all music. There are rows of CD and records to choose from. One thing that I am a little disappointed in is there electronic and videogames are overpriced. If I do see something I want that's in the video game area I compare prices with here and other stores like bookmans. I do still really enjoy and appreciate this place like other local Phoenix stores at check out if you don't get a bag you get a chance to donate a puzzle piece that goes to programs and charity that give back to the community. Also there's always ways to get deals here.

Zia at Thunderbird & 25th Ave, in north Phoenix, is the better location to take vintage denim clothing, jeans. The Thunderbird location also has much larger sections of Manga and anime. The Camelback Zia has more used electronics, video games 🎮 and accessories. Both have lots & lots of vinyl LPs, and Camelback Zia has more selections of mp3 turntables (Crossley) in stock. Both locations have lots of collectibles, toys, board games 🎲 I haven't been to "Tempe" Zia in many, many years. Relocating to "almost Chandler" wasn't such a hot idea.

Very good thrift store for anything audio, music, or movies. They sell a lot of good used stuff. They sell records, CDs, DVDs, instruments, sound equipment (such as mixers). Great place to be for music enthusiasts and music producers. However the place is located on a very bad corner. This area is in really bad poverty for Phoenix, and the Light Rail runs through this intersection, attracting a lot of bad customers and people to the area. Avoid this place after dark.

One of a dying breed. Love going to Zia to shop for music. I think this location focuses on movies & general merchandise too much. I was c really disappointed to find very little music by a band I love. Yes they are a little esoteric, but I figured I'd find more than 3 full priced CDs (German band Einsturzende Neubaten-highly recommend them). Did manage a couple of Tom Waits CDs, but those aren't really hard to find. I think this store caters to more mainstream tastes & movies for families, if that's what you need. Still 4 stars bc it's an actual record store though.

The place is good to go to if you are looking for last ten video games and systems. Like ps3, Xbox 360, and they have some old game boy games. Outrageous prices, sales people are occasionally rude. Probably the worst of all Zia's locations. Even if you're not trading, it seems to take forever just to buy things and leave. The only real motivation to go is that it's not far from Christown Mall. Sometimes they do have a good selection, but it's in a rough neighborhood and may not be worth the trip.

Great place to go on a first date. Great way to get to know someone. Wide selection of new and used items from music, video games, apparel, used electronics to used instruments. They've got a little bit of everything here. Make sure you don't leave anything valuable behind in your car though. Double check to make sure your windows are rolled up and your doors are locked. People that hang around that intersection are horrible. It's by far one of the worst intersections in Phoenix and the surrounding cities. Hands down. There's even a video on YouTube of someone jumping on the front of someone's car in the parking lot and the driver talking off with them hangin on. It's crazy. Check it out if you don't believe me!😁

The neighborhood didn't seem great, and they actually had a security guard at the door. The overall layout/feel felt more like a Hastings than a Zia (and that's not a good thing). Zia is my go-to place for DVDs. They typically have every movie I'm looking for at a reasonable price. Occasionally I can find a movie at a better price on Amazon but overall, great deals. I was not impressed with their music and book selection. CDs are the same price as anywhere else they're sold and books are nothing to write home about. Some of the children's books were actually more expensive than most sites online. Although I enjoy Zia, I much prefer the Thunderbird location. This location seems confused and like they're trying to fill in space. While looking for a children's movie, I found myself to be very confused. There were three sections throughout the store for children's movies while at the Thunderbird location, it is all on one wall. Great place to find deals on DVDs but I'd go elsewhere for used books and CDs.

With varying quality comes with it variable pricing. They do have a rewards program but generally if your buying something new or "unused" your paying top dollar. If your budget is tight, and you want to pick up an old record to jam out to, or a movie youve been meaning to see for a decade, they got your cheap fix to fullfill those broke weekend blues...

Friendly and knowlegeable and staff. Zia records not only sells records and cds. You can find instruments, oddities,toys, bandshirts and collectables. They have a huge movie selection and a large book section. Imagine if Bookmans and Spencer's gifts had a love child and it grew up to become a "record shop". I strongly suggest you come in and check out this store. No matter your personal taste you will love this place.

I love Zia records reminds me of back in the day record stores, now with that being said I HATE the location, parking sucks and driving to it is a pain, and crime is high had stuff taken from the back of my truck. Now I'm still gonna go there because I LOVE ZIA RECORDS but I wish they'd found a better spot.

Everything you could ask for in a record shop is in this store. Ample music (on multiple platforms) to choose from, gear, tech, and a section to geek out in. However I would still prefer their location further to the north.

I truly love Zia. Great place to go to and very diverse. If you love to shop around then Zia ia an endless paradise for the casual browsing customer simply becuase theres is so much to see. I also would love to point out used products, so disounted merch is always available from cds to vintage toys. You can buy, sell and trade. I have seen a great diversity of stuff in Zia so would recommend consulting Zia directly about selling or trading products. The 4 stars is becuase the quaility in customer interaction has gone down alot. What used to be posotive attitudes and simple kind greeting with a smile has declined to a hello and right back to there current task at hand. Asking for help you almost expect a dull attitude as if we are supposed to know exaclty were the single item we are looking for is in the thousands of items that are for sale in rows and along the walls. I avoid certain locations simply becuase of this issue and am starting to see it in the loactions i still shop at.

This Zia is great! Lots of selection, good knowledgeable staff. Good environment very friendly & chill. Had them do a refurb on a scratched disk for my xbox 360 (GTA V) and it didn't work, so I came back and they did another one for free, bam I'm playing GTA V again only for $2.00! Thanks guys you are the best!

Its always nice to go to zias but seems as if they dont really pay close close attention to the quality of products they resell my bf bought a super Nintendo for 80 bucks and the adapter connector was broke and they sold it that way so before you take old game systems home to make sure its intact he got a refund but was disappointed because we wanted it but not to repair it after spending that much on it he wanted to take it home and play it

Very few true record stores exist, but Zia fills that void, and more, with their insane amount of new/used vinyl, CDs, books, video games and collectables. Go there on April 18th for National Record Store Day, they always have the most available copies of the super rare releases that only that day brings once a year. If you're light on funds but desperate for reading material, you can get a handful of paperbacks for a buck. If you take the rail, careful because it's a really weird crosswalk.

they have a great stock of pretty much everything... but... they have a large foot traffic count especially on the weekends which didn't make shopping here difficult just annoying having to here screaming kids... other than that no complainants
