Walking into Long in the Tooth is like walking into a dream! Legit. They have everything from old school Beatles and Dylan to underground jazz/black classical recordings of Duke and Bird! You can also find modern stuff as well. Truly a GEM! 🎶 🎧 …
Emily McDowell
Great selection and atmosphere. Lots of nooks and crannies to explore. I definitely feel like they've expanded their metal offerings since the last time I was here, which is great for me.
Josh Davis
Super wide selection at this record store. Owner is a talkative and entertaining dude and the prices are reasonable. I always appreciate a record store that also sells books.
Marcel Fromhage
Saw some pretty awful older reviews before coming here and cannot say that my experience confirmed it.
Location:
A little hard to find, for some reason I walked past it 2 times. But that might be my age starting to kick in. The store sign is not too obvious.
Selection:
I thought it was a pretty good selection of all main genres. Rock in all variations and Jazz seemed to dominate. But there is also a good amount of Rap/Hiphop, Pop, World Music, 45s etc. The larger sections are alphabetically organized. The smaller ones not so much. To my delight there was a pretty decent section for Reggae of varying styles with a fair amount of non-mainstream items
Prices:
Fair for the most part. Some of the new and sealed items as well as some rarer items seemed a little on the higher side. Rare items on the wall were pretty expensive but not worse than on Discogs.
Staff:
In my experience - friendly, helpful and welcoming. Even after I accidentally dropped a record into the Nirvana in-between to larger crates. Again, I read about some nasty experiences from a few years ago and wonder if the owners or staff changed.
Will definitely come again when I am in the city.
michael miller
Great shop! Amazing selection and the owner of course knows about and can talk about/recommend all kinds of music. Good prices including a little sale section
Pete Trenham
Excellent selection of new and used records, CDs, and books too.
Todd Derr
great shop - lots of old vinyl, tons of 7"s, and some new stuff. the owner is very knowledgeable and cool to talk to
Machiel Siekerman
Good record store for both new and second hand records. Fair prices and friendly staff. Nice selection in various genres.
J. Koz
Used Vinyl, CDs and some DVDs.....nice place to visit......enjoy
Eric Harper
The staff is nice But I wish it was wheelchair accessible so I can browsebtge music library on my own vs asking for help.

Fist time In this store, hopefully It won’t be my last. Fantastic selection of used vinyl, I could have spent a small fortune in there, the willpower was a struggle. Friendly Gentleman working in the store, I really enjoyed my experience and certainly look forward to going back.

First shop on Philly this trip. Nice, charming little shop that's got a great vibe. There's an excellent hip hop collection here which surprised me, so I spent a good bit more than I expected. Very happy with the selection here, and it's within walking distance of city hall. Recommended!
Dan Yuleo
Been here two times now and have found something worth while. From new releases on major labels to Prog and Punk obscura? They got it. Really appreciate the person who runs the shop. They're knowledgeable and good to customers all I've seen. Definitely check it out.
Anthony Morrione
Very cool store with a wide variety of records, great thing is the owner, very nice and also very helpful when it comes to finding specific records they may not have in stock.
Wayne Turner
Great store!
I'll definitely be back

Bought a couple hard to find new records here (there’s a good selection of new/used). Fair prices, and the staff was super friendly and knowledgeable.
Nikita
If i could give this place 6 stars out of 5, i would. They have tons of rare records and unique releases, whole shelves of music-related books and so much more! And the people who work there are so, so amazing to talk to, they know so much and have seen so much! Definitely recommend this place to anyone who's excited about music!
Melissa Correll
this is my favorite record store in the city. they have everything you want to find and a whole bunch of stuff you didn't even know you wanted. and the owners are great - he has a story for all occasions and knows all the philly connections. the prices are fair - rare stuff is expensive, common stuff is not. made some good improvements to the layout so you can stand on wooden platforms instead of milkcrates. love this place!
Rob A
Best record shop in the city, hands down. Ever rotating "just in" rack and some real deep cuts in the racks. Great selection of books too. Staff is great and always down to talk music.
Louis Weil
Best record store in Philadelphia. Only thing better than the new vinyl selection is the used selection. New arrivals bin always full of gems 💯 …
Bill Pepe
Amazing selection of vintage books with both novel and mass-appealing titles, and a great selection of vintage records. Staff checked with me if they wanted to hold my books while I kept looking, and later checked with me to ensure I knew the price of the one book I chose as it was more pricey. One of the best record stores I've seen with a ton of interesting and unique items. One of the best places in Philly!!
Gregory Clarke
Without a doubt, this is not only one of the best record stores around, but just one of the best stores period. There is always a friendly face and a knowledgeable source when I go into this store. No matter the genre of music, hip-hop, jazz, classical, you name it, the guys know there stuff. I've been to several record stores in the Philadelphia and New Jersey area and none compare to Long in the Tooth!!
John Mariakis
Not to disparage any other record store in Philly, but Long In the Tooth is the best for my sensibilities. You've got everything that makes a great record shop. Huge used section? Check. New records across multiple genres? Check. A robust soundtrack section? Check. Drool-worthy wall wax? Check. Extremely fair prices for both trade-in and retail? Check. Super-friendly, knowledgeable and approachable employees? Check. Every single time I go to this spot I end up in a long conversation about music with the owner. He's a rad guy.
TL:DR - I have been digging through crates all over this city for 30 years and I can honestly say that LITT is the best.
Jed H
Love this store; it is one of the best indie record shops in Philly. The store-owner and his staff are really nice guys but maybe a bit rough around the edges for some. Their discussions sometimes remind me of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia episodes and I love coming here to browse for records.
Wim Marstong
I have always had a pleasant and beneficial time in this small independent family owned & operated used rock music (plus) store! Good business skills evidenced by its having consistently been open per the published hours, in business since 2006 – in this same location, and because the owner is occasionally open to negotiating a buy/sell when he is not terribly busy, right at the counter. Or such is my observation. :–)
Andrew Bowers
Good record store. Lots of new stuff to check out. Organization takes a little to figure out, but the staff is very helpful and I knowledgeable. Feel like they are channelling Championship Vinyl a little bit, including featuring Beta Band Three E.P.'s in an end cap. A Top Five desert island record store.
David Reidy
My favorite record store in Philly, period. The owner knows his music especially the weird, rare, experimental stuff. The store is hidden nicely in the heart of Center City, and oh yeah the selection is pretty dope.I never walk out that jawn empy handed I'll you what.
Tom Jenkins
Awesome spot! They are super organized, and even take care to alphabetize the vinyl! Prices here are incredibly reasonable! Love this store!!!
Eric Soldano
I am a short fat man. I needed to use one of the many step stools to peruse the record bins. But by golly if I didn’t pick me up some obscure vinyl at VERY reasonable prices! I HIGHLY recommend this juke joint!
Maggie Toyents
Great selection of new and used arrivals, they have a awesome reggae/dub section. They carry the best selection of art books and classics. The husband/wife duo who run it are super chill.
Reem215
Great place, owner was very nice & knowledgeable about music as well as the city. Great environment, excllecnt musical selections, as well as excellent music being played while you shop. Great prices, wonderful products, while LONG IN THE TOOTH is located in the heart of Rittenhouse Square. A must visit.
Hassan Krebs
I got at least once a week to buy my music they got pretty good old music it's great place to shop the very nice people in their husband wife runs the business the right annoys people
Daniel O'Connor Ellis
My favorite record shoppe in the city. With fair record pricing(typically the average discogs price). Coming from someone who's worked in a record store before the two main people that run the shoppe are always kind and ready to talk about what you're looking for(just KNOW what you're looking for, don't give some vague description). Anyday you go you're bound to find at least one record either on the wall or on in the new arrivals bin you've been looking for. And it's a plus the owner is always ready to talk Phillies baseball. Highly recommend.
Cody Hunsberger
In my experience, Long in the Tooth has a way better selection of metal than other record shops. I haven't done much browsing in the vinyl section yet since I just recently started collecting those, but their CD selection in terms of the grindcore, stoner metal, etc subgenres was pretty great. I had a long list of artists to look for and I found about 80% of them.
And ignore the crybabies being upset about being asked to hold records properly. The folks who work there are really nice people.
Stephen Wigmore
Support your local music shop especially one that sells CDs and vinyls. Small place with a diverse selection of music, plus there are shows there sometimes. Plus the shop has a cool name.
J M
I love coming here. The selection is unparalleled, the prices are great and the vibe can't be beat.
Nick
Great record store that also sells tickets to any show under the Union Transfer umbrella. Lots to choose from, knowledgeable staff that are pretty nice, and they offer new and used records. Good stuff.
Robert Reynolds
This record store is likely the most dangerous record store for maintaining a financial budget to anyone interested in... obscure punk, metal, electronic, experimental, jazz, industrial, noise, hip-hop, etc... in all of Philadelphia!! Any time I set foot in Long In the Tooth, I leave with classic gems and modern/contemporary greatness!!
Items (vinyl) that I have purchased from Long In the Tooth include but are not limited to...
Bites - Skinny Puppy
Remission - Skinny Puppy
Daily Operation - GangStarr
Madvillian - MF Doom/MadLib
Oh Crikey It's... - Lawnmower Deth (CD)
Time Machines - Coil
Transilvanian Hunger - Darkthrone
Plagueweilder - Darkthrone
Phuck Me Jesus - Marduk
Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism - Immortal
The Mind is a Terrible Thing... - Ministry
Seriously... Kudos and Mad-Props go out to those who do the ordering. For a person such as myself, it seems that this store was created for me.
Their is no time that I will walk through the door, and not spend $150-$200 USD because there are so many great offerings available... and I am weak.
Tim Bergey
