Reviews of Gear Exchange
Dennis Smith went out of his way to help me with any troubles I had getting my drum set that I ordered online. It's rare to find such good customer service with someone you can tell cares about customers and his line of work. Give that guy a pat on the back if you see him.
Very nice place to view music equipment or trade/sell. Huge selection on guitars/electric and acoustic. Pretty honest on trade-ins. They put the items up on a large screen for your viewing and compare current selling prices of the same item so you know you are getting a fair market deal. They test equipment as well before buying. No high pressure salesman and love the bird!
This was my first time here, and I spent a little while just looking around and talking to the associate behind the counter. They have an interesting selection of vintage, pre-owned, and collectible instruments and music related items. If you are a musician or just interested in music gear, you should check it out when you have some time to kill. I certainly plan on visiting again.
Nice employee, but will be comparing prices from other stores next time
I have just finished getting my new bass from Gear Exchange! So far my favorite guitars were bought there, my keyboard and my drums and cymbals. I love this place! Always fair and always gracious. I appreciate being treated with respect no matter who I am. They have everything musically and at really great prices! I must say, I have not had a bad experience there and I appreciate them helping me find my sound. Great Place! Highly recommended!
A+ seller, there was a problem with the order but the seller provided excellent customer service. There was no issue in resolving the matter. I would buy from this seller again! When you buy from Gear Exchange, you will be happy that you have them your business because one of their goals is make you happy and satisfied.
I just had a portable foot flanger device fixed by them for my bass and now it works perfectly for me. It was very expensive for a new one and the one I had, just would not 'turn on and off' when you hit the switch!
So they fixed me up!... at a fair price and they did it in just a day or two.
I would go there again, for other things as well...a huge selection of different things to choose from and friendly people.
I took my Jackson King V for a repair and forgot to mention some other things I needed done with the guitar. I got it back with everything I had forgot to mention fixed!
Nice, local musical gear store with new and used items. Perfect store for my needs! Love this place!
I recently ventured out to find a shop for desperately needed maintenance on an instrument. Someone recommended this place, and I decided to give it a look due to its relative proximity.
First off, the shop is very nice. Tons of interesting, good looking used gear. Very nice people (interacted with three different employees).
They charged a very reasonable price for the maintenance in question, and I was quite happy with the result. Will definitely be bringing in subsequent instruments for work!
Thanks again!
This has been the best guitar shop I’ve been in. The employees were very helpful and answered every question. I tried up to 15 guitars trying to find the right one. They encourage me to make a choice that was best for me. No pressure to buy. I ended up not finding the right guitar for me but this will be at the top of my list to return for guitars and supplies! If you’re in the area this is a must guitar shop to visit.
Great experience everytime we go and can't wait to go again!! cool staff, helpful and great deals on gear and guitars! I always walk out of there with something I thought I never needed before!! definitely recommend!
I've had a few run-ins with Gear Exchange -- Bought a few things and traded a few things. I have nothing but positive things to say about my experiences here. They gave me fair value on a trade, their prices are good but most of all, the customer service was on-point each time. They were always Johnny-On-The-Spot and knowledgeable.
This is one of my favorite stops in OKC. Don't hesitate to show 'em some love!
I got there about thirty minutes before it got to close so I was surprised when I managed to get everything I needed in like 10 minutes. Plus the guy there was super nice and helpful. They also had a great selection of guitars as well.
Awesome place, easy to deal with and good prices! Very friendly employees who are very helpful! My new go to store for sure!
Update.
I wasn't going to complain and just chalk my service experience up to live and learn, but more I think about the "set up" I paid for, compared to what I was told when I bought my Ibanez and what I specifically asked to be done, the more it really just angers me. Even when I picked it up and asked, it was feels good to me. Excuse me, but isn't it supposed to feel good to the one who pays to have it done. I believe the only thing that was done was s string change and maybe wiped down. Don't get me wrong my buying experience was really good and the guys working were very helpful. Just don't ever pay to get a set up to your liking, because it's done to theirs it seems. I planned to bring another one in for a set up but won't waste my money.
Their prices were reasonable but I didn't get a feeling of being welcomed there. I walked in and said good morning everyone and they all seemed preoccupied too much to say hi. I did speak to one gentleman about getting my son their first guitar and he was very polite and obviously knew his stuff. It was just the feeling overall when entering that was my only issue.
I love this place. Every time I've ever been it has been a great experience. I took some miscellaneous drum gear up there recently and the trade-in value they gave me was very fair. I wound up getting the gear I wanted plus a couple pairs of sticks for an even trade. How cool!
Awesome place for used instruments and such.. Full wall of effect pedals. Nice selection of electric guitars as well. Was informed by the attractive lady working that their amp repair service person had passed away 2 years ago with no replacement. Hopefully more people will find new interest in the area of electronics repair.
I have driven by this little shop many times. Today I decided to go in since I was off work. I'm glad I did, too. This place looks tiny from the outside, but there's a lot going on inside. There is an Ibanez acoustic bass I now have my eye on! The staff is super friendly and the prices are very reasonable! Check them out!
The guys working there today were awesome. They gave me some very valuable information about my guitar that i didn't know. And they probably saved me from damage to my guitar. So thanks guys. Great information
Excellent shop. Extremely helpful in getting newbies setup with a couple gently-used guitars. Definitely recommend and will be back!
Had an opportunity to visit this shop today and work directly with Tim at the front counter. Tim and Joe we're both super personable and professional to deal with. They've got a strong selection of gear for the size of the shop. Don't let the outside fool you. It may look small but it's filled with good quality Equipment at reasonable prices. I will definitely do business here again. Thanks for keeping good service alive in the OKC retail industry.
This place is fantastic. The work they did on my guitar and service was absolutely amazing. They also have a lot of nice stuff in there. Great shop.
Zack and the guys at the shop always take care of me. Best shop in the state for trading in used gear. Had their tech do some work on a couple of my guitars and was very pleased. Hope these guys are around a long long time.
Great customer service. Owner is always ready to help. Very patient people. Good selection of gear too.
Changing my rating to a five star. New location is super clean, not as crowded, and has an amazing selection of pedals and guitars! I'll have to stay away before I blow a hole through my wallet.
Also I'm glad they post everything on Reverb!
Very friendly help, competitive prices and nice selection. A little bit of everything at all price points. Will always support a local business over the big name Walmart of guitars. .
Really cool place. Wasnt what I expected from the outside. Lots of guitars and pedals. Super nice and helpful gentleman. He spent all the time we wanted with us and then he left us alone to browse. Again very cool place.
Have you not been to OKC Gear Exchange?
"My goodness!" They have a perfect mixture of new & used gear. They've got drum stuff, strings and things, and more amplifiers than you can shake a stick at. They've got electric gear and acoustic gear, they even have a bird that can sing. There is a luthier/wizard out back who can restore your neglected axe to its' former glory. This local, essential business served its' community faithfully during the darkest days of the 2020 Panic.
You still holding on to some Stimulbucks? Get off your throne & come exchange some gear.
I had them order an Emerson blender kit for me. They got it in called me and told me it was ready. When I went in to pick it up I was very impressed with their selection of instruments and audio gear. I will use them again.
So far I've had my guitar repaired once and have had two upgrades to it. Excellent work, no issues, and reasonable pricing. Also purchased a Fender amp in excellent shape, that was half the price of a new one. I've observed them on a few trade in's and they are no b.s. They'll give you a fair price but understand they have to make a profit as well.
A good, no, a great selection of guitars and associated band gear. As they deal in used equipment inventory can vary from day to day but the sum of the audio equipment was a great value. Overall, a pretty good selection and if you're on a budget this is a pretty good place to start.
They have a good selection of equipment and supplies that you need. They do repairs as well. Good selection of used equipment that changes in a timely manner. They do offer layaway. Staff friendly and very helpful.
They recently moved and are still getting situated, but the familiar faces and great staff is still there. Went in yesterday as I am hunting a thin line Telecaster. The staff member there said “There is a Telecaster out there for everyone.” No words ring truer. Glad that this place exists. Keep on!
Always a very knowledgeable staff and fair prices all around. This is by far my favorite local guitar shop. Their guitar pedal selection is excellent!
I've done business with Gear Exchange on several occasions and always found them to be fair and knowledgeable. Jim's work on my guitars has always been excellent and Kurt is the man when it comes to amps and keyboards.
Sometimes it's worth just going in to look around. The inventory changes all the time - seems there's always something different either hanging on the wall or in the cabinets with Zach's monstrous pedal selection.
Loved it here the owner fixed my bass good as new and restringed its very affordable nice equipment and vert cheap used options for music equipment and microphones
Very nice place to shop and sell, have a awesome inventory always nice and friendly, definitely a place to go to for all your music investments!!!
Gear exchange will buy your gear at fair prices. I have sold several items and was very happy with the outcome. Dillon is always very helpful.
Gear Exchange does all my repairs and set ups. They have great prices and a huge selection of gear. I cannot recommend them highly enough!
I brought in a rare, hard to find vintage, tube amplifier from the 70”s, some time back, that I bought from a friend... I was referred to Gear Exchange, by another well known repair shop that couldn't quite figure out how to get the parts needed to fix it, so I took it to the Guitar Exchange shop to try and figure out its problem, No one else could seem to figure out how to fix it. Some experts said that the parts were unavailable. Other repair shops said I would have to find the same amp and then get the parts from that.
It's a rare, heard to find item... You just can't find them on the streets anymore, unless someone died and left it as an inheritance... Anyway, I brought it here and dropped it off... Within a couple weeks, I got a phone call saying it was fixed and ready for pick-up.... They charged less then I expected... It still works just fine, to this day... When I first found and bought it, I had been looking for this amp since I had one back in the 80"s... I wouldn't sell it for the world... Thanks for a great job, done right the first time... I feel 20 years younger... :)
Cheap prices and helpfull staff definitely a good and wide selection for such a place. Great for used and new equipment. Recommend you check out this place it might just surprise you.
Great music store! This place has new and used guitar, bass and PA stuff. Good prices and a lot more used inventory than GC. They also have in house techs that can fix just about anything. Highly recommended!
Great service and a selection to die for. I was looking for an American Telecaster and hadn't been having much luck finding what I was looking for but came in here and there it was
Great shop. Friendly, helpful, honest people. Lots of selection and a whole lot of Store in a small package. If you buy/sell/collect guitars, this is place is A++.
I got a great deal on a guitar and they gave me top dollar on my trade! They had so much gear i couldn't look at it all. Ill have to go back when i have time.
Recently, I picked up a Kemper Profiler from Gear Exchange, which is a Kemper dealer. Fast and professional customer service blanketed my experience. Zach and Tim are very congenial and professional guys. Highly recommended!!
It was a very cool experience for our band to be able to go and see what Okc hasn't had in awhile which was a well stocked, tidy and clean music store but most of all great sales personnel were there to greet you and be of service if needed Like I was saying Okc hasn't had a cool place to trade or sell your equipment without any hassles and not to mention a repair shop as well
Every time I go there I have a good experience. staff is knowledgeable about products and they really help you out if you need a deal whether you're trading something in or buying something
These guys are great. If you need Baritone strings, they got them, the big chain doesn't.
Great place for finding good condition used gear. I came in to buy a guitar and distortion pedal and the staff was great and helpful.
Excellent local spot to buy used music gear. Prices are a little high, but lower than guitar center.
The staff here know their stuff! Prices are reasonable. Limited selection, but cool place!
Great experience great shop!!!!
Friendly staff! Reasonably prices! I rather help this local business than a major music store. Love it!
These guys are great. They're heavily based in guitars but they do come through with the drum hardware when I need them to.
Small shop with a large selection of instruments and equipment. Staff was friendly and if I lived in the city, I would go there fairly frequently.
THE best music store in the okc area. Never shop guitar center, support your local music store!! This place always has what you're looking for!
The attendant was unfriendly and gruff, upset that he had a customer
A beautiful store in an excellent location. Gems lurk throughout. It's also very conveniently located off the 36th street exit on I-44.
Very nice little guitar shop with a good selection of guitars and amps.
Great music gear. Nice people. What more could you want. Not a big Corpo chain. Really cool.
Cool little shop. They have a ton of guitars and gear.
Excellent service, great variety. One stop shop for pretty much all your musical prowess.
Got my Traynor ycv40, and they hooked me up with a pickup install, new strings, a setup and a dozen picks. All for a steal! This is the only music shop for me.
Love this place glad they are here in Oklahoma City.
Remind me of my favorite store in Seattle.
A nice little guitar store with a few gems here and there. Bass selection is questionable, but they still have the essentials.
I like this place a lot. The staff are very friendly and helpful and they have a lot of good deals there.
Very welcoming. I know basically 0 about instruments and they made me feel like a rockstar.
Great crew and down to earth!!
No cheap salesmen gimmicks here!!
A must stop if in the 405
Zak, Jim, and Sam are everything you need fot new and used music and P.A. equipment. High end high quality guitar and equipment repair.
They are honest, good guys and are willing to work with you to meet your musical needs. Thank you for the help.
A pretty well supplied store with some cool layer back guys behind the counter, who were knowledgeable with their stock.
Zach is always fair and pleasant to deal with. Great selection of gear and a really fun place to visit!
Great instruments at fair prices. They also do good set ups on guitars.
Good small local store with a great varied selection of used gear.
Always fun, knowledgeable and cool staff. I recommend everyone I talk to go to this store

Love this place
A very neat little music store! Very kind and caring employees as well! If you're looking to sell or trade with them they will offer a really fair deal on whatever you bring in. Much better store than guitar center in my opinion! I actually went to guitar center to sell or trade a bass amp but they actually broke the quarter inch jack inside my amp and pretended they had no idea what happened. When I mentioned it to an employee at Gear Exchange they actually offered to fix it for no charge! To me that's why Gear Exchange is a great music store because they care about the customer and offer honest deals which is the way it should be!
We bought a guitar. They taught us many with kindness, the prices are not very high, in general, very good attention
