Came in looking for new batter heads, left with a new kit. Mike in the drum section was so incredibly helpful. He set up two different display kits for me and his advice / input gave me enough insight to make the decision to upgrade from my budget second-hand pdp set to my bright, new orange Yamaha kit. I've been a Sam Ash customer for over 20 years and I'm glad I live close to this location. I mostly deal with the guitar staff, but everyone is very friendly. Occasionally I come in with my toddler who loves to look at all of the instruments - everyone always waves and says hello and she usually gets her very own guitar pick. Michael Tag in the guitar section recently helped me trade in some gear and instruments to put toward a new guitar. He was very fair and generous in his assessment of the trade ins, and went above and beyond to make sure I could walk out with a guitar I loved. Rob the guitar tech is super knowledgeable and kindly helped make sure my new guitar was in top shape. Even though I wasn't buying the most expensive guitar in the store (and they have a great selection of high end instruments), they treated me like a vip. One of the guitars I brought in was unfortunately in too bad shape to be repaired without significant cost and work, a Silvertone acoustic from the 1950s that belonged to my grandfather. Mike Tag and the guitar team honored his memory by putting the guitar on display, I love seeing it whenever I'm checking out new amps or pedals. The Springfield Sam Ash has you covered no matter what you need, but if you do visit the store make sure you stop by the guitar section and say hi to Grandpa Bill

Sam Ash is a wonderful place to shop if you are looking to purchase an instrument. Their customer service is great. I went to Sam Ash looking for a violin for my daughter with absolutely no knowledge about it. The sales rep was amazing he explained everything thoroughly and gave us a few tips about the violin. I walked out very pleased with my purchase and of course my daughter was happy and excited to own a violin. Highly recommend!! I will be back to get an instrument for my oldest daughter! 😄

Mike Tag is an awesome salesman! Very knowledgeable about the stock. He found a 100 year old mandolin for my wife that she loves. And, unfortunately, put a $2000 guitar in my hands that I can't stop thinking about. I don't have $2000 for this, Mike! What are you doing to me?! Edit: Mike found the $800 version of the $2000 guitar. There was only one in the he whole country, across all the Sam Ash stores. He had it shipped here and I tried it and loved it! It's mine now, and I'm very excited to learn and play more!

He focuses on each customer and doesn’t get distracted with others which is true customer service. Reggie doesn’t push to make the sale but offers options for the best purchase for clients. I went into Sam Ash to buy a bass amp & immediately went to Mike Tag for help. He’s not only knowledgeable but personable as well. I am primarily a drummer and pianist, but have recently been called to do some club gigs on bass. Mike asked what kind of venues I’d be playing and then suggested two amps based on wattage. He let me sit with the one I ultimately purchased and play through it, check the levels, sound, etc. When you go into Sam Ash Springfield - ask for Mike!

Called ahead to check inventory on the product I was looking for. Mike Tag took the time to check for it and pull it to the side for me. Not the first time he has helped me out either. Mgr Mike Friedman was also helpful in placing an online order before leaving the store. Great service!

Since the Edison NJ store is temporarily closed, I visited the store on Rt 22 in Springfield NJ to get a Christmas gift for my nephew. Michael T assisted me. They did not have the item in stock but he told me they can place an order and have it shipped to my home. I placed the order and 2 days later it arrived in very good condition. I think my nephew is really going to like his Yamaha Guitarelele. Great customer service at the Springfield Location.

The workers here and at Guitar Center across the street are all nice and helpful. But I worry about the future of both stores - it's a little like Blockbuster or network TV content that hasn't changed with the times fast enough. When I started going to Sam Ash in the late 1970s it was as exciting as going to Disney World - or a huge candy store. Now there's very few workers in each store and they are as messy as Sears on its last legs. The computer kept kicking the guy helping me offline, wasting both of our time. I did a demo on a keyboard for software recording use - one of the main control nobs had been stolen. The two small speakers had been crushed in by rude customers. The mouse was outmoded and tough to use and the keyboard was dirty and stained - it looked old but is a new product - and no store workers knew how to really use it to show me the bells and whistles, although it's on special display. But all were super kind, for real - makes me feel bad writing this. So, I'll buy it on Amazon.The guitar guys remain awesome at Sam Ash and Guitar Center. You get this feeling that the store managers don't really have much energy invested and couldn't care less about the store, the customers, or the employees.

I was having a ridiculous time trying to activate the warranty on my keyboard to simply get a repair. The warranty company put me on a hamster reel and also tried to find a way to avoid fulfilling my contract. Just one question, "did someone sit on the keyboard by accident"? It was frustrating to say the least. It did not help, my also barely being able to understand the speaking accents and the reps could not comprehend many English words. After several days and many hours later, I found Rocco from the Springfield, NJ store and he took care of the problem in a matter of minutes and without a hassle, without trying to find a way around the problem, without looking for trouble and simply got a local store close to me to make an exchange. (even that store manager was not easy to deal with) Rocco is a manager who cares and knows how to create real customer service. As a result, with appreciation, his store will get any future business that I do with Sam Ash.

I was looking to buy a new electric guitar and couldn't decide where to go first, guitar center or sam ash. Since they were both across the street from each other, we went into Guitar Center first since it was easier to get to from Route 22. After standing around for 30 minutes with no one to help, despite having the guitar in hand that I was buying, I put everything back and we left. We went to Sam Ash and immediately Dave was there to help. I got a great guitar and accessories right away. He is the epitome of great customer service, which is VERY hard to find these days. I'm forever buying all of my music stuff from Sam Ash from now on. Thanks for the great service, Dave! FYI: I even got a call from Dave a week later, checking to see how the guitar is.

Stopped in last week to check out guitars to kill some time. Mike was fantastic. I bought another guitar at the competitor across the street a few months ago. Sam Ash has at least 4x more acoustic guitars than they do across the street. Also, Sam Ash does not lock up the guitars so you can take them down and try them on your own. After three hours if trying out guitars, with Mike checking on me periodically, I bought a great Martin guitar. Wish I had come here first. Highly recommend. Ask for Mike. Very patient and knowledgeable about all the guitars. We give him 6 if I could.

In my area, there is a Sam Ash and Guitar Center situated directly across from one another. When I need anything guitar, drum, or recording related you’ll find me at Sam Ash every time. Yes, there is more selection because it’s a bigger location but that’s only a small part of it. What keeps me going back to Sam Ash is the amazing customer service. The employees are knowledgeable and have been working there for as long as I can remember. The same cannot be said about my Guitar Center which seems to be a revolving door at this point, with each new hire being less knowledgeable about all things music than the last. Highly recommend this Sam Ash to anyone who wants more selection and better staff. If that’s not what you’re looking for Guitar Center is perfect for you.

Great customer service. I had called earlier and was informed that the guitar stringing service would take 2-3 days. As my daughter and I were about the drop off the guitar, Dave Lancet approached us and asked what the guitar was. We said "acoustic", he and the manager talked, and we were told that we could wait for it to be done in 30 minutes. Nice! Will definitely be going back to this store.

I am the last person to leave reviews (good or bad) anywhere. But yesterday i took off from work to go guitar shopping for my birthday. I went to Guitar Center first and got mediocre help from the staff. I was the only person in the store, and the available staff member of 3-5 were hardly helping me. I left after an hour to walk across the street to Sam Ash. There was one man, Mike, working the guitar area. This guy was AMAZING. He was helping EVERYONE, and if he left you to help someone else, he would communicate it to you very professionally. He helped me pick a beautiful guitar out, and he was even willing to change strings and adjust the necks of the guitars that i wanted to try out. I was probably there for 2.5 hours, and this guy truly was there to help me and everyone while also getting to know us as guitarists. I picked my a guitar with a floyd rose, and this man put on my new strings, got the action down to how i wanted it and even helped me get the floyd rose balanced with the string tension vs the two screws in the back that supported the tremolo system. I walked out of there with a finely-tuned, beautiful guitar. I will send all of my guitar students to that shop.

Went to purchase an Alto Stealth from the Rt 22 store...It was not in stock ,but the gentleman assured me I could get it from the warehouse in two days. He was very knowledgeable about the product and I received it even earlier than his delivery projection.......the product works as advertised..a great experience My second visit to the store was met with the same friendly professionalism.....I has some issues due to my ignorance of the product..and I got lucky...the same gentleman who sold me the product initially helped me again this time. I love this particular location so much because of the people that are working in there. The general manager George is such a great and professional person. Also all the workers over there have a great positive attitude especially one of the manager Reginald. He always know what’s right for the customers and literally takes the time to make sure all Sam Ash customers are comfortable and walking out with a great experience in the store. You can tell that he is very passionate at what he does.

This is my go-to Sam ash location for guitar and bass equipment. Theyve got a great staff full of knowledgable and helpful salespeople. This makes for a smooth and pleasant buying experience. Not all Sam Ash locations are created equally. The team here is exceptional. I just bought a brand new guitar off of Dave L.. I recommend working with him if you are looking to buy.

Brought my friend in for his first electric guitar. Duke was our salesman. My buddy is just a beginner at 63 and has a good beginner acoustic. I told him it's time for an electric. Duke was very helpful and my friend got a beautiful Epiphone Standard Cherry Burst LP, Boss amp and some accessories. Reason I've been going to Sam Ash since my first guitar buy in 1977? The best customer service and impressive inventory, always.

I brought my old guitar across the street, it needed a saddle,strings and tuning. The repair guy told me the saddle would be $150! He then said it's old really not worth fixing, and I could get a new guitar cheaper than fixing it. I decided after reading the great reviews of this store to go see what they might be able to do. Josh in repairs was able to fix my old (sentimental) guitar for $57!!! I picked it up a few days later, Duke helped me find a case for it. I highly recommend this store, for everyone there seems to really like working there, and like to help you get exactly what's right for you. Thanks guys !!!

Great experience. I bought a Fender Blues amp deluxe but they only had the floor model. I wanted one out of the box. They loaned me the floor model until my amp comes in. The atmosphere in Sam Ash is great compared to GC and they have bigger and better selection of gear. This is my gear shop. Great store and great management and sales reps.

Local SamAsh RT-22 (SpringField, NJ) Great experience, I went to get my guitar serviced. Got it Tuned Perfectly, the Neck was cleaned, the whole body was cleaned, it looks just as it did on the Display Case. Most people say it’s not worth to pay the extra, I would say otherwise, I got the 2 Year Plan, I don’t regret it. I can comeback and have them fix up anything wrong or just have them Clean it and Apply Oil to the FretBoard and make it look Brand New. I can’t wait to go back, they attended me right away and my Guitar was waiting for me, all I had to do was call them to let them know the Day and Time I would show up to pick it up.

Took my nephew to the Springfield, NJ store to get his guitar restrung since a string broke. As always, the crew on the counter were super helpful. We got the new strings on plus a good lesson on how to do it ourselves the next time, thus saving $30. Always fun to watch a pro at work. They seem to have an outstanding selection of instruments of all types, especially electric and acoustic guitars. Highly recommended.

It's a great place. Plenty of great staff and people. The tech is a very big help (and a Death fan). I've bought a few guitars and effects from here. My one issue is an employee. I don't remember his name off the top of my head, but he's an older fellow with longer grey hair and double chin. He always seems to be agitated and very rude, I actively avoid him as much as possible. It's what's keeping this place from a 5. They have amazing clinics and gear.

The staff are very accomodating, friendly & informative. My Spouse was so happy with her guitar and the guy who assisted her was very helpful. As for me, I’ve asked the cashier if they have a bundle (keyboard, stand, headphone & pedal) like the one I saw from another store online, and I was amazed with his response “we can actually set up the same for you” and asked for its price. He immediately checked from his pc, asked approval from his supervisor and set up the package. Boom! It was of the same price like the one I saw from another store online. Ordered an Epiphone Guitar and case. Guitar arrived in just a few days. Box was a mess but guitar looks to be in good shape. The case on the other which was listed as in stock turned out to on backorder. This lead to some confusion but Sam Ash worked with me to make things right. Only had guitar for about a week so dont feel like I can give much more than a first impressions review. The Sheraton II Pro is a nice looking instrument. Appears to be well made. Cant see much difference in. appearance between the Sheraton and my Gibson Les Paul Std. Im pretty much a beginner so got lots to lean but nothing negative stands out. Seems to be easy to play and sounds pretty good to my uneducated ear. Only issue so far with this purchase has been the availability of the case. Another COVID caused issue. I deducted one start due to the inconvenience caused by a series of confusing emails, billings and ultimate refunds. At this point all issues seemed to be settled satisfactorily and Im a happy camper.

I just made an online purchase of a used Cannonball Sax from Sam Ash Music in Springfield, NJ. It was described as being in mint condition with no dents or scratches, like new. Received it today and the condition was exactly as described. It's a beautiful horn in true mint condition. In addition, it was packaged in a very professional manner, both inside the case and around the exterior of the case. It would have taken something catastrophic to actually damage the contents of the shipping box. Inside the cased, the horn was placed in a soft bag, as were each one of the necks and mouthpiece. While Sam Ash has a great collection of gear, the customer service there is god awful. When I try to buy percussion equipment, I'm often left standing at the counter for as long as 10 minutes just waiting for someone to ring me up. Not to mention the fact that all their drumsticks are behind the counter, so you can't even try them out without a worker being there. For specifically drumsticks, I would recommend Guitar Center across the way, which has the stick shelf out for people to peruse.

Very limited selection of headphones. The glass shelf behind the headphone booth looked sparse and disorganized. The labels were small and could not be comfortably seen from behind the counter, where customers are standing. The staff member was friendly but the store didn't have a good enough selection of floor model for us to know which one we wanted to buy. For some reason they carry a ton of Samson headphones. They did not have the M40X's for us to try, and one of the Pioneer headphones we tried was already broken. Despite the employee behind the headphone counter trying to help us, we didn't find a headphone we liked because Sam Ash simply didn't have a good enough selection or enough headphones for customers to try.

The license code for the equipment wasn't attached but we were told that the store would contact the company, confirm that the original buyer had cancelled the code, and we'd get a new one. Long story short: after some discussion, Phil stepped in, realized the sequence of events, came to a decision, and together we resolved the issue, putting the matter behind us. Everything's working and we're looking ahead to the next instrument we get from Sam Ash. There's a lot to choose from!

We have excellent service every time we use Sam Ash in Springfield with the exception of one time when I needed an emergency repair on an amplifier and the repair staff was too booked to work on it. So there is sometimes a popularity problem, too popular but with proper planning on my part they would have taken care of me. The staff often takes extra time and effort to find an obscure piece of music or answer questions about odd arrangements of parts to create new instrument configurations. Their actions are done with sincerity and interest in the products that I don't find in their competitor's stores where the sales people are more motivated by the volume of sales than a satisfied customer. I like the selection of products I find at Sam Ash, quality is often better on the mass produced items. I am a "rest of my life customer" who wants to buy it once and use it with only minor repairs. Always A+. Guitar department -- I purchased a Mexican telecaster. Set up was adjusted appropriately by dept manager and set ups performed by the Luthier have been the best i"ve ever seen and played. The right set-up can make or break your love for a guitar. The Luthier has a degree from Minnesota State College and he is meticulous and takes pride in his craft. Since Sam Ash is not a G&L dealer, I have had to buy from the store across the street, but I know where to take the guitar to get the correct set up. I would happily purchase from Sam Ash if they were a G&L dealer (they used to be). I've also purchased drum machines and synthesizers and the customer service in those departments was outstanding as well. I've also purchased percussion instruments for my child's school from the drum dep't and they are also stellar. The manager, George, is also an asset. He is frequently on the sales floor and very helpful and has a positive attitude. This location is right across from a GC and I've purchased guitars and other equipment from both. After all these experiences, my preference is for Sam Ash.
