Purchased a vintage Fender Strat from Lark Street. Although I couldn't come in and buy it in-person the experience was excellent! The owner was very helpful and accommodating, taking the time to answer all my questions. The guitar arrived perfectly packaged and it has exceeded all my expectations! I'll definitely be doing business with them again! Highly recommended!

Lark Street Music is a national treasure. Besides having a fantastic, well curated set of guitars, Bernard is not pushy, honest and incredibly generous with his time and knowledge. We purchased a beginner guitar for my 13 year old and I love that he took his time to explain things well and created a relaxing, shopping atmosphere. Avoid big box retailers if you want real interaction with those in the know and head to Lark Street - you can’t go wrong.

An absolutely beautiful store with an amazing selection of vintage guitars. When you're ready for a really stellar instrument, come here with some cash to burn. My wife went mandolin shopping here, and they had a decently large selection (around 20 or so mandolins) so she could get a feel for what she wanted, from a cheap $169 no name student model to a $6000 antique Gibson. It's really valuable to feel the entire range from student to antique / luxury when you're buying your first serious mandolin and you can do it here. Most Guitar Centers and Sam Ash stores have mandolin (singular), forget a full range of mandolins. Lark Street Music has what you need. Banjos too!

Best Guitars, Service and Experience in the tri-state area! I have known this establishment since their old location in Albany. Joey Graziano

Lark Street Music is the only place I go to service my guitars. Buzzy is the coolest, friendliest and most knowledgeable guitarist in the industry. I trust him and his staff with my acoustics as well as my electrics. Whenever I find a guitar outside of his store in New Jersey, I will always have him give it a second look. More than a few times he has saved me from a bad purchase by uncovering hidden defect. He is also honest and will let me know if another guitar is a great value. I recently brought in my Ibanez Stratocaster for some pickup rewiring and the work was fantastic. I also know that on any given day there might be a modern Rockstar or living guitar legend that is in his shop to browse his incredible inventory. Definitely worth a quick trip over the GW Bridge if you are in Manhattan but if you are already on the Jersey side you must absolutely visit. You owe it to yourself for the experience.

Purchased a Martin D-18 from these guys. Very safe process and allowed me to try three acoustic guitars I was considering from visiting their website prior to stopping by. Not ONCE did they push me towards one guitar or to hurry me up with my decision. Answered any and all questions I had. Shop is kept at good temperature and relative humidity. Very nice guys and I'll look to them first for high quality instruments in the future.

I asked to retouch back side of neck for my Benedetto Bambino guitar because the painting peeled off a lot. It took one and half month to get done. When I saw my guitar after they fixed it, it looked like a brand new. I was surprised of the quality because they did really good job!
Also they fixed setting for my Yamaha SA1000, it came out perfectly too!
I tried to solve these issues with other stores but it wasn’t satisfied. But this store, they can do anything you ask for. Best guitar shop around.

Amazing experience. A friend told me Lark Street Music just got in a 1968 Super Reverb and their website confirmed it. I live a few states away so conducted business over the phone and via email. Within 24 hours the amp was delivered to me. Amazing service. Fast shipping. And of course top quality equipment. I couldn’t be happier. All original 1968 with the drip edge. After a service she was up and running. She sure does sing. I’ll be buying from these guys again. And again. And again!!

Great place with lots of interesting instruments, mostly used and many vintage. The owner is very knowledgeable and doesn't mind me trying all sorts of guitars I can't afford. My favorite guitar shop.

One of the best hands down & top 5 stores nationwide including music cities like Nashville, Austin, Boston & NYC .. Buzzy is knowledgeable, trustworthy & knows everyone to get you anything you're ever looking for rare amp/guitar parts repairs & more .. He is a treasure
Barbara Epsaro
Buzzy is very knowledgeable and helpful with parts and all kinds of used gear. Not just guitars, but Lark St is also good for the small stuff we need to keep playing or play better.
Ralph Sordyl
Excellent vintage shop with very knowledgeable crew. Prices are fair.
David Boyle
Amazing store with a variety of really interesting instruments. I had repair work done, and it was top notch. The people who work here are also really friendly.

This is the place for vintage guitars. They have a great selection of vintage guitars and amplifiers plus new guitars.

I've been a customer of Lark Street for year. Buzzy is hands down the nicest guy in the vintage guitar world. He always has something interesting coming in, has great prices and I never feel like I'm bothering anyone in the store when I'm there, even when my kids are asking a million questions :)

Always a fun visit. Other NYC area guitar stores can be stuffy or "by appointment only" or very overpriced, Lark Street is a welcoming environment, regardless of current COVID occupation policies.
Staff is professional and attentive, but not invasive.
Wide variety of vintage guitars, amps and pedals. I dropped a very old instrument in for some TLC, fully trusting Buzzy and his staff.
Peter Garea
Great shop with a special selection. Kind & helpful staff. Worked on my basses & guitars.

Buzzy Levine is one of the most honest & knowledgeable guitar dealers in the United States. You can’t do better than Buzzy.
Luis Noto
Just bought a tuner & some guitar picks. Old man in the shop (I’m guessing owner/manager) had an attitude & looked annoyed. However, other younger dude (I’m guessing employee), was nice & helpful. Would rate 2.5 stars. But, I’m feeling nice today so rounding up to 3.
Edit: I was not opposed to wearing a mask. In fact I politely asked if you had any in store as soon as I walked in. I was not carrying any on me at the moment. If you require something from customers you should be able to provide it like every other business post-pandemic.

Great shop for used acoustic instruments. Mandolins. Banjos. Fiddles. Guitars. Tenor guitars. Dobros. Jazz arch tops. Even good classic fender electrics and basses. A real gem. Buzz and his team know their stuff and the shop is full of unusual, great sounding instruments. I got a used Trinity Irish Bazouki here for a fair price and I have not regretted it a second.

While I love the selection, I hate feeling like I'm inconveniencing anyone when searching for a product. It may help if the online inventory was updated so I didn't waste my time going there & searching for 2 pedals which were sold long ago. Maybe if Buzz would've recommended a similar pedal I would've purchased something & not felt like I wasted my time & his, guess he doesn't need the sale? Too bad, but Sam Ash earned my dough.
Lisa Bello
They are knowledgeable and kind in this shop. Being a female musician, I'm always a bit hesitant going into musical instrument shops (trust me it's a thing), but I got answers to all my questions. Lark Street is reasonable for repairs and if you like vintage guitars, they have one of the best selections around.
Winston Smith
Bought a 1958 Martin D-18 from them a few days ago and couldn't be happier. I live about an hour away and have made the trip to them three times over the years. I've always come with a trade in, and I've always felt I was given a fair deal with the trade in, unlike at other dealers. Like I told Buzz before I left "I've been here three times and I've left happy all three times."
Stewart Lampe
Nice shop, GREAT inventory of vintage guitars...some of the best I've seen. Picked up an '88 Telecaster in excellent condition. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Buzzy seems like he would be a blast to hang out and jam with!
Got a good deal as a first timer there. Definitely recommend the shop and plan on returning when the itch hits for more gear!
Some super vintage amps there too!

It’s like museum of guitar art. You go in from dusty street and forget everything. All what you can imagine in guitar world. Nice people perfect service also repair service. Perfect room for hear your sound. Really encyclopedic knowledge of owner . Highly recommend

This is a great music shop. They have an amazing selection of guitars. You can pick up and play any guitar there. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Long live Lark Street!

Don’t be fooled by the unassuming exterior of this store. Buzzy Levine has been selling and repairing guitars and other instruments for decades and his inventory includes some of the finest guitars known to man. With the only possible exception being Mandolin Brothers on Staten Island, this is one of the greatest guitar stores in the tri-state area if not the northeast. And now that Mandolin Bros is permanently closed, you do the math. Buzzy also has a knack for finding and acquiring some of the rarest and unique instruments and pedals you will ever find anywhere (a candle-powered guitar pedal being the most recent thing I saw and it was beyond astonishing) and just being in the store can teach you about the history of acoustic and electric guitars. (He once had a Maccaferri from the late forties that was one serial number away from the guitar that Django was known to play - needless to say I stared at it for quite some time). If you love guitars and you are anywhere near this place don’t pass up the chance to come in. This is where the real players shop and get their instruments fixed.

Lark Street music is one of the older vintage guitar stores around and they are small place in Englewood now. But their customer service is great and they have reasonable prices on their vintage equipment.
They have a laid-back atmosphere and I large selection of vintage jazz guitarist and focus cars along with Spanish classical guitarist. Their website is pretty good.
Chip Dietz
I purchased a wonderful Magnatone amp after seeing it online, Buzz was easy to work with and attentive. Excellent contact, I am very pleased. I won't hesitate a minute to make another purchase from Lark Street Music.

They have great vintage guitar. I ordered telecaster from s. Kor. Shipping very fast and guitar was packed safe.
Someday I will visit your shop...
Mici Pici
Nice selection of vintage classical guitars. Offered more alternatives of strings than any other store that is selling guitars in the area. You pay a little bit more but you have a choice.
Leo Ferrante
This is the best shop I've ever made it a point to get to. Killer gear at great prices, none of the pretension you get with some similar stores... Buzz, Steve and the crew are always ready to help and their knowledge is second to none. If you are serious about real gear and good people you need to find your way to Lark Street.

i first met buzz backstage at the knickerbocker arena in “88 with a friend who was opening up for tom petty. buzz opened up his store for us and tom’s band, after the show. we had the run of the store. fun.
since then, i’ve done countless deals w/ buzz, who became a great friend and mentor. through buzz, i’ve been the recipient of an immeasurable amount of vintage guitar knowledge.
i can’t begin to express my love, admiration and respect for buzz. he breathes the rare air of a man w/ great integrity and honesty in an industry filled with hucksters and straight up criminals.
cheers to you, buzz!!!

Never been a big fan of corporate chains like Guitar Center and my guitar teacher mentioned Lark to me. Completely clueless when it comes to guitars due to fact that I am just beginning to learn how to play. Upon entrance, Steve asked me if I needed some help. Mentioned that my budget was $100 - $500 and he showed me several options. He really took the time necessary to listen to me and let me demo quite a few models. Walked away with a great guitar that was very reasonably priced. Buzz also spent some time chatting about this and that. I'm down in Verona, highly recommend making the drive north, A+ experience!
