Reviews of Human Head Records

IMO, THE best record store in NYC. Pretty much the only place I buy records from and very much worth the trip to BK. They have amazing $2-5 bins and always seem to have what I'm looking for. I never walk out empty handed lol. Great vibes all around from the music they play in store, the decor, staff, and vinyl they sell. 1000000% worth checking out!
Francisco Taveira
In my opinion, the best record shop in NYC. Travis is a great person to talk to and helps you finding out what you need. HHR has a great selection of rock, jazz, and others and you will find rare stuff in amazing condition for really fair prices. Highly recommend a visit!
Sarah-Marie R. Boerner Albertson
Proper spot for any vinyl heads according to my British friend who knows far more about records than I do.
Timothy McManus
I love this place as a small independent label. Sean showed the most love and I will always remember that. Sick selection of everything though the jazz is real nice.
T J
One of the best record stores in the city! There's always a ton of gems here at an incredibly reasonable price.
d. stillo
Great records store. Great staff and amazing chose of different genre of music. Never disappointed and always good deals! Highly recommend!!!
philippe gabulon
Cool, rich in Rock, Latin, Brazil, Soul
Nice narrow shop with tons of vinyl records. The selection is geared towards more or less everything but classical music with a light bias towards Latin, Soul, Rock.
The shop cultivates an eclectic cool atmosphere with a few human transparent heads ornaments. One of these is rotating on a record player.
There is a lp player with an amp and a headphone if you want to listen some of the grooves privately.
A nice place to spend some times and some dollars in a quiet area.
Rory Herron
Great record store with loads of racks full of soul, jazz, reggae, house, new arrivals and more. Good $2 and $5 bins here for different genres and friendly service
Albert ruiz
I have bought from here on Discog had the opportunity to visit the store in New York. Great please to visit. Thank you Sean for helping me and making me feel at home and all of the humanheadnyc personnel.
Simon B
Hands down the best selection/price in NYC and super helpful staff. Best $2 crates anywhere.
Aaron Levinson
Most of my life has been spent listening to, recording, producing and flipping records. Travis The K. is the real McCoy.
HHR is the benchmark record store in the biggest city in America. They earn that cred every day. Records before Rent!
Milagros Baylac
Definite gems in here, and one of the best parts is that they have quite a few listening stations. Will be back
Ethan Fixell
Unbelievable selection of rock, jazz and world music. Not very much punk or metal, but fair prices and a wide selection. Make this my favorite record shop in Brooklyn
Magdalena M.
I love this store. Is my new favorite. I’m working nearby so I’ll be there at least once a week.
I found great pieces for like $2-15.
It’s a really good atmosphere over there!
Laurent
Quite simply one of the best record buying experiences I ever had. Could have walked out with twice as much vinyl and stayed for a few hours more. Found multiple records I had been looking for since years. Wish this store would be closer to where I live.
Shelly Shells
Came here once a few years back to sell some records. The guy was crass, dark hair and curt. Not sure about the pay top dollar part that’s advertised on their site.
Stace D
Awesome spot for used records. The collection is in really good shape and the more banged up records are in bargin bins.. The layout is nice and open, so you don't feel cramped while you browse. There were maybe 3 or 4 listening stations so you don't feel rushed when sampling the goods.
The prices were really good if you ask me! I got a pristine copy of Kelis' Tasty for $40. Next store I went to (won't name) had the exact same copy, but with a slightly tattered sleeve for $80 (which is also the going rate on discogs). I'll definitely be back to get more here
S Beechner
Absolute best record store in Brooklyn. No matter how far away I may be in NY, always make a special trip to see their incredible selection of used records. They get in an amazing amount or rare and obscure vinyl, and always have incredibly fair pricing on all their inventory. The staff that works there also couldn't be any more helpful, or knowledgeable. Definitely worth checking out in if you're record hunting in NYC.
Isa Abney
Solid collection, great deals, and fantastic staff. My new favorite place ♥️
Erik “Sheriff” Toulon
For God's sake, give more power to the people! In search of a song? Product perfect! Pure mania, never a dull moment. Special beat service, supreme clientele, and legendary hearts! Can't buy a thrill? Give it up, it's too late to stop now... it must be magic... thank you 4 your service, pleasant dreams
Jon Mang
On top of having a large selection of reasonably priced albums, the friendly staff is what will keep me coming back. They have 3 separate listening stations to test any album before purchasing. This place has a great vibe and can’t wait to go back.
Noam Swisa
Super cool place. Staff is friendly, selection is good, pricing is very fair. There's also an adorable dog that hangs around sometimes who belongs to the owner. Definitely recommend for all if your vinyl needs.
Mephis Jackson
Prices are good in general. A few genres are definitely more stocked up then others. Best location for finding vintage and collectibles. One part museum one part record store. What more could you want? All my purchases marked VG+ were definitely VG+. Employees are a fountain of knowledge and always welcome to show you around.
Thelma Frayne
Unbelievable collection and great prices. This is worth going out of your way for.
While my fiancé and I were in New York, we spent a couple of days out of our trip trailing through every record store we could find (he's a big collector). He seemed a little underwhelmed with anywhere we went in Manhattan and I was beginning to lose hope, but Human Head more than made up for the rest. It was amazing... even for me and I'm not so into vinyl but I found some stuff that was really nostalgia-inducing (a couple of bucks a pop), loved chatting with the guy who ran the store (friendly, helpful and didn't judge me on my selections... or didn't seem to at least) and didn't see the time passing and there were so many gems to be found.
I'd highly recommend to any music lovers out there.
UncleDani
Great record shop! Was digging around for an hour and managed to find a fat stack of 2$ records. Their 2$ and 5$ record sections are impressively well organized by genre. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. If I only had a little more time in here... A must for any crate digger
Gregor Wettermann
The best record store in the world. Absolutely amazing selection of used records you can’t find anywhere else, and prices you can’t find anywhere else. There’s clearly a healthy in/out flow of new stuff through the store every day, making for a very vibrant selection. And the founder Travis is extremely nice to boot!
Rafael Miranda
Hands down one of the best record shops I've ever had the pleasure of visiting.
Heat can be found within every corner of the store and everything is reasonably priced! I left with a nice stack of pristine Latin and Brazillian gems and I couldn't have been happier! Top notch staff too! I had the pleasure of meeting Travis who was very helpful and welcoming. This is an excellent shop with a welcoming vibe, and an incredible selection at great prices. What more can you ask for? Highly recommended!
Sergio Martinez
Travis is the guy! I love this place, they treat you very fair! You can spend hours looking for records here! I guarantee you that you won’t be regret to go there!
Seth Sam
Best record store for older stuff, with a focus on jazz, soul, r&b, reggae and classic rock. They do have a local and newer indie section as well. Nicest staff in town with fun events on weekends. Love it.
Sylvester Matera
Human Head is the best record store in NYC. Great records at reasonable prices, new stuff all the time. Travis and his staff are knowledgeable, and keep the store up to date and easy to navigate. Highly recommended.
James Acey
Great selection, amongst the best prices in town !
Anthony
The real owner Steve is just a great guy . Really knows his stuff.
He can repair a lot of audio gear at great prices.
He knows a lot about used records also .For rent sign on store? Is Human Head moving or closed forever ?
J Mullally
Great store, huge collection, and a great place to sell your vinyl if you have classic rock jazz blues etc. Travis always gives a fair price. Love to visit Penelope the whippet too.
RECEDE
Really nice owner, unbeatable prices! Picked up some of my favorite albums used for less than $20 per record. Great modern vibe from the place.
Ralph Jimenez
Great selection of records across all genre's and era's. Ambiance is an amazing old school vibe.
Luis Ferreiro
Simply a fantastic store for both collectible and affordable records across all price points. From the deep pocketed collector to the budget vinyl seeker you'll find lots to love here. A store to explore!
Robin Peterson
Best used record store in the city, in my opinion. Great selection, great prices, very nice and helpful staff. Plus, loads of Brazilian records you're unlikely to find anywhere else nearby. Highly recommended!
Ozzy 68000
I did most of the record shops in Manathan during my last trip to NYC and came back a little bit disappointed as I was expecting much more from the big apple. During my last trip I decided to go to Brooklyn and get to human head. Ouahh what a great place. Many LPs, lots of gems. Found a record I was looking after since 1 year. Personnel is very friendly, great atmosphere and descent price for rare records. There is also a 2 and 4 dollar bin where you can find many great record. Condition is not always the best but for this price you can not expect NM, after cleaning the few I bought sound good.
For the others no problem and no surprise. So far it is definitely the best record shop I have been in NYC. Will definitely come back.
John Dobis
this place is the best for audiophiles. ask for travis he does a great job. nostalgic. the sound is so pure compared to digital. if they don't have it in stock they will find it for you. not positive but they may have a partnership with ebay.
Daniel
This is the first record store that I'm stopping at when I'm back in New York! Great selection. I found some gem blues records. Very friendly and helpful owner. A must visit store for vinyl lovers!!!
Joe Blue
Great little neighborhood store with a wide selection of new and used vinyl, and a very friendly staff. Unfortunately, they stick crappy anti-theft price stickers on ALL the labels of the vintage 45s, so I'm dropping the rating to a 4 star. Come on guys, stickers on labels are for Goodwill and Salvation Army thrift shops.
A Garr
So happy a place like this exists in NYC. I usually come across record shops that cater to DJs or ones that are so curated that the overhead is reflected in the prices. Human Head represents the organized chaos one should expect with GOOD OLD FASHIONED USED RECORD HUNTING. Gold standard shop
jeremiah j
cheap and well cared for LPs. mandatory visit if you´re looking for second hand US pressings. records divided by style (rock, heavy, jazz, latin, blues, electronica...) and price. they also have a "new arrivals" section, divided in days and weeks! and also some tournables to check and listen to vinyl. I couldn´t ask for more!!
ecksbogota
Best store in BK hands down. They also have a discogs account where you can browse easily part of the inventory. Accesories, great prices on sought after records, cheapo bins, tapes,45s, and best of all great customer service. Hey if you visit dont forget to bring Penny a treat!
Ronald Williamson (Ronkwill26)
The best record shop in all of New York City!!!!
Kyle Garner
Great selection. Make sure to check their Discogs page, most of the best stuff is listed here and stored in the basement/not available for digging in the shop. You can purchase their and pick up in the shop for free
Yuval

This is my favorite record store in NY. Good vibes and great variety. The new location is cool too)
Stoned Circus (Radio Show)
Great place if you're into vinyl, surely one of the best addresses in NYC, however the system of buying rare LPs is really a hassle. You have to buy on discogs and then wait for someone to bring you the album.
Fred
I've been to many record stores in NYC and this is one of the best. Very Jazz/Funk/Soul and Rock oriented for the Lps but apparently, a lot of 12" disco and house. There are also several Rap bins (mainly maxi). The prices are just perfect, much cheaper than in Manhattan (A -One) and huge selection of 2 and 5 dollar vinyls, in very good condition.
The sellers also made a price at checkout (without asking) and offered me a canvas bag to put the discs. In short, really great and good spirit and choice + price = unbeatable
