Reviews of The Groove
An independent record store situated inside of a converted house in East Nashville. Small, but mighty! Quite unassuming as it sits in the middle of a suburban neighborhood. Cool vibes here & friendly staffing. They carry a diverse range of vinyl & CDs. Definitely stop by if you're in the area. It was fun shopping here. I brought home a Statler Bros. LP.
Absolutely loved this record store! Such good finds here at a very reasonable cost. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. They have a variety of new and used vinyl, cd's, cassette tapes, and 8 tracks! They have players for all as well so you can test the product before you buy, however I'm not sure if they let you unwrap and play if it is sealed. They have all genres of music as well as supporting a section to local artists that I thought was really cool, plus some pretty exclusive items. A bit pricey but good luck finding it elsewhere and who knows for how much. I will definitely be returning here for future purchases. I live a bit away from this store too but I consider it worth it.
The Groove records is the best in Nashville.
Not only Jesse was awesome and let me paint on their walls a big giant Dolly Parton with
@bougettes_and_arrows go have a look @jojo_stickers, thank you so much for being such an amazing store host plus I love that you guys are so active in social media and have such openness to the LGBTQ + community! Thank you
Literally one of my favorite record stores ever. I've been here 1000 times and always find something great! Also much more affordable records than anywhere else in town. Jesse is always very nice and welcoming everytime I come in. Everyone in Nashville should go here!
This shop is amazing, with incredible customer service. Not only was it a great place to flip while I was visiting from out of country last summer, but they came through for me as well with a manufacturing issue I only was able to notice 6 months later. They went above and beyond, crossing borders, and surprising someone that had lost most faith in customer service. Support The Groove.
Cool place, with a good selection of albums and artist. They stocked country, blues, rock, jazz, soundtracks and alternative music. The staff is attentive and seem to love talking about music with the customers. They also have new and used albums and CDS.
My sister loves coming here for new records and we always end up finding something good for a great price!! Such a cute little shop with some nice art painted out front and super friendly staff 🖤 …
Very good experience, really good selection of jazz vinyl... excellent owner... thanks for everything Mark.
If you're looking for 45s they have a huge selection of playable records as well as those so banged up you can redecorate your listening room wall. Great space. #WeAreTheWorld
Great little shop for vinyl. They had a great selection of new and used records. I got a mystery grab bag from last year's RSD. It was fun to open and the 6 albums' value far exceeded the $25 I paid. I also picked up an album I've been looking for new that I hadn't been able to find elsewhere. Overall prices are in line with other shops. Their vintage/rare vinyl is more expensive than new, but cheaper than many other places I've seen. I'm looking forward to visiting again soon.
Great record store in trendy easy Nashville. Everyone is very nice and helpful. Great selection.
Great record shop with an excellent selection of new and used music. Attendant was very nice and helpful. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for music!
First time visiting Nashville with a friend and we went in here on Friday and the pace was so warm and welcoming. The owners were the most friendly people to talk with and they had a wonderful selection of records. I can't wait to come back the next time I'm in Nashville
Such a cute little record shop. Loved the genres and selections. Even found Mr. Christmas!
Great little record store with new and used records. I felt prices were fair and they had a relatively wide selection. Worth a stop!
I got 3 records under 20$. Well worth the look
Perfect little vinyl shop in East Nashville. LGBTQ-owned, super friendly, the best Record Store Day events in the city, and a great place to support.
A vast assortment of music. I could spend hours looking through the bins.
Some really excellent finds in this cozy, little record shop in a house! Well hidden... Trust your map.
Welcoming space, lots of deep cuts in the used vinyl section, and a good mix of new releases. They will ship to you as you check out! About $7 per box and you can fit a couple records in each. THEY ARE OPEN ON TUESDAYS NOW!
Excellent organization and selection. Great prices on records, and the Spooky Ghoul Fest for Halloween is phenomenal! Thanks to the raffle I'm now the proud owner of the Return Of The Living Dead test press! I'll be returning for more vinyls and future events.
Very helpful finding a needle for an old turntable. Made me feel important as a customer even though I was only buying a simple inexpensive part. I know why they were packed now!
Great record shop but not a good Comic shop the place. Has a bunch of records and if you're into vinyl this is DEFINITELY the shop for you. However I went thinking this had comics and records. It only has a small stand of Indie Comics
There’s a fine line of being a record store employee. Helpful when called upon, attentive, but also mostly invisible. This place nailed it.
There is a lot of places that you could buy vinyl, but what the owners, Michael and Jesse, bring to The Groove is a sense that most places I've ever visited lacks. Caring and appreciation. If they don't have something, they'll order it on the spot and hold it for you. If you call and ask for a record they have in stock, they will hold it back for you until you can make it out. Between that and the shows they host in their outdoor or intimate indoor stages (which include local acts and the yearly "Fright Night Fridays" they host every October, the latter being free to all) this shop is like no other. A small space with big heart, I'll never tire of thumbing through their selection. And being the only LGBTQIA owned store in the heart of East Nashville, it feels good to support these wonderful people and everything they do!
Great new and used vinyl and CD store with a wide variety of music types and most music genres. I have found many interesting artists in The Groove's inventory that I haven't found anywhere else. Finding parking on the street is a little tricky so you may have to walk a little. Very pleasant record shopping.
I've made a few trips to this store and I'm always greeted when I walk in. This is a nicely stocked store with a new used arrivals section. Too many stores don't have the important new used arrivals section. There's a listening station for records and a full back room for CDs. Prices are slightly higher than comparable shops in other cities but nothing outrageous or uncalled for.
This local record store has the best events! Got to meet Leslie Jordan, and I don't usually get star struck but man I just love him!! They have a wide selection of genres for any taste and knowledgeable staff. A must visit.
We've had the honor of performing here on their outdoor stage. The owners are wonderful people and they have a killer selection. And if they don't have what you're looking for they'll order it right then and there! You're doing yourself a disservice if you don't visit them!
I went there after finding them on Google. I had a list of artists I was looking for on vinyl. Walked out with 4 from my list. The two gentlemen in the store were extremely helpful and a delight to talk to. I would recommend their store to anyone.
One of the best record stores in town. Constantly revolving used selection - though a bit limited in nature. Always a few good rarities on the wall and overall pricing is competitive. If you're looking for new - they're happy to order anything as well. Always great to support a small business who is doing good work.
Extremely cute place, great selection of music, friendly and helpful staff. Glad to of found this gem in East Nashville!
Groove is awesome...they have new albums, a great collection of oldies plus...some CDs and books. We found new and old favorites for our collections!!
Great store! Awesome shop for vinyl. Good prices and excellent quality of service for used. They hand clean every used vinyl and inspect for quality. Definitely visit this place!
The Groove is a great record store. They had an awesome selection in a really cool environment, with fantastic prices. To boot, the music they were playing was phenomenal, which hasn't typically been my experience in other record stores.
I'm a bit of a johnny-come-lately to this place. And after pulling up I didn't expect too much from the facade. But all of that melted away once I stepped inside. It reminded me of my old favorite record shop in Charlotte NC. They have an expansive new vinyl selection. A very nice used vinyl area. And many brand new and used CDs at very good prices. And let's not forget the prices on vinyl are in my opinion the best in Nashville for the new stuff. Extremely friendly staff and I am glad they decided to take over the groove. Hope they may stay around for many years
It's a very good place. I was dissapointed there was no Pixies on vinyl. An influential band like this with no vinyl presence in the store at all seems crazy in a music city like Nashville. But they did have a lot of other selections of vinyl and CDs and even cassette tapes! I was a little confused on pricing. I bought a double CD and it was priced at $6.99 on the cash register but when I looked at home the sticker price was listed as $2.99. So I'd be interested to know why that happened. However, with all things considered, it's in a great location, it's on a residential street and it's basically in a house with a nice porch. It really creates a great ambience when you're looking for music. I'd go back again but I'll ask before I buy a CD about the price beforehand.
Dope spot with lots of classic and undiscovered music.
They have a nice spot to listen before you buy and the prices are great! I bought 3 albums.
John was super cool and helped me pick out an album by a local band based on other music I was in to. Definitely recommend checking out this shop if you're looking for a good, locally owned record store. Not too big that it's overwhelming, I felt it had just the right amount of variety. Good vibes all around.
I visited this shop, 6/22. The guy working there was incredibly knowledgeable, about his music genres and inventory. For a smaller shop, they have a fantastic selection, with great prices, even in their new releases. Now, about the sale section, this is my favorite part, of the store. There's no telling what you will find and the prices are usually, under $2.99. The best part, for me, was the listening station they have setup, in the store. Two would be nice. But, I can't complain, as most stores don't have one, at all. There's not an ounce, of pretension, in this store, which is what will make me a lifelong customer!
Cool record store with a great selection of new and used albums at reasonable prices.
Very interesting record shop with classics and new music. Eclectic variety. Highly recommend for a lazy afternoon.
This is a fantastic record shop that reminds me of the original Great Escape in it's heyday. Amazing selection of both new & used vinyl, CD's and memorabilia & the prices beat any of the other 'vintage' record shops in town. The new staff couldn't be more friendly & courteous. This should definitely be the go-to place for music lovers in Nashville.
Such a fun atmosphere. Friendly staff and amazing food!
I bought my first two vinyl records of my collection here. They didn't have, but two records I was looking for, but the staff was very friendly. It has a great atmosphere, great music playing and very great selection. I will becoming back when or if I return to Nashville.
The Groove is a fantastic record store tucked away in the heart of East Nashville. The staff is knowledgeable and extremely helpful. New and used vinyl selection is outstanding. I've also bought gently used Hi Fi equipment there and they are test everything and back it up. Highly recommended!
The staff here is amazing! Great selection of records and organized in easy to find sections! And the prices are affordable. Will definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for hard to find music. Thanks for the great service, and keep up the good work!!
Great ambiance and a super small town record store feel....The staff was very helpful, and I scored two great vintage records for a great price. I would recommend this place to anyone. I was traveling through Nashville in route to a conference, but if I lived there, this store would be visited on a consistent basis!!!
Very cool place! It's a house converted into a record store. Good selection of new vinyl and quite a lot of used records to dig through. Really helpful and nice staff!
I am a big fan of this establishment. Not only are the owners friends of mine, they are to be commended on the time and commitment they put forth to make everyone feel welcomed like family. It shows in the events they are involved in, the group's they support and all who enter the doors, feel the excitement in the present meeting the past. Go have yourself some fun at The Groove.
Very small place but I love it. Something is very nice and comfy about it's size and it's overall aesthetic. I came here once to get tickets to a concert at The Mercy Lounge and I've been going back ever since. Love the place
Found an album I was looking for here yesterday but was disappointed based off the rating on Google. The selection is not the greatest and shelves so packed its hard to flip thru and find anything. I would stop in again if passing bye but wouldn't make another trip from the other side of town.
Excellent experience, great used selection! Staff was friendly and willing to chat for a minute; seriously had a great time here! Bought the record that was playing during my visit, a first time for me but i could not let it get away!
4 stars for collection and prices, 5 stars for the staff and the experience, very memorable.
Super shop! I went in, name dropping, being from Akron OH, pointing out the Black Key albums and how they started in Akron (yada yada) ... Going on, I mentioned Dan has a studio in Nashville.
"I'd have to agree", said the shop owner. "Dan was here eating bagels this morning, at this counter" ... Humbling, so much for name dropping! I will shop here again, I'm sure.
Awesome place. Stopped by before leaving Nashville and found some great cds for the ride. Amazing used selection of used cd/dvds.
Incredible game and comic selection as well. Staff was friendly and helpful
Cool little shop. I love old school music, but I would love to see more of a selection of newer music - at least through the 90's. The staff is great, very friendly. I even bought some concert tickets here.
Looks like a house on the outside, and a tiny vinyl warehouse inside. The jazz/blues sections were not overly large, and if you're in the area, stop in. The people there were cool and there's a nice local vibe to this record store house.
I really enjoyed my experience at The Groove. I am in Nashville for work for the week, and I decided to pop in. Good move. They have a lot of fairly priced used records, and I found some real gems. I found Bruce Cockburn-Humans, and Les McCann and Eddie Harris-Swiss Movements both for a decent price. I got in there late and did not get to spend the amount of time I wanted before they closed for the night, so I will be going back later this week with more time to spare.
What an amazing REAL record store! Huge selection, super nice owners. Open mic comedy on Thursdays is a must see! Anyone can go up!
such a cool record store! tons of new and used vinyl and CDs as well. could spend hours here just getting lost!
Great selection and good prices. If you like classic country there is a lot to look through. Dude working there gave us great tips about cool stuff to do in the area.
Called to inquire on a belt for my Technics SL-3 turn table and results were fantastic. They immediately looked up what belt I needed, had it in stock, hell of a price and now I'm listening to my recently purchased Richie Havens lp. All in less that an hour.
I called right at closing time asking for a title. They answered, found my title, and shipped it to me. Great selection and they make it super easy to do business with. I’ll be back for sure.
Best record store in Nashville. Great selection and great people.
Came in looking for my husband a birthday present and so glad we did! Great service, selection, and prices! You guys are awesome and we'll be back!
This is a record store that you hope to find, comming to Nashville. Not so much country or pop/rock rareties that I hoped to find.. bur the records for sale were many. I loved that the shop is situated in a house.
The Groove is fighting the good fight for the art community. Not only are they pushing back against walls of corporate zombies and trust fund company owners, but they give back to the community, by golly. 5 out of 5 stars for these guys.
Nice place friendly staff pretty large selection of LPs. They seem to have a lot of old stuff and it's not the best organized so you have to dig. But that's sorta the thing with records isn't it?
Was looking for a few days for a CD for a Christmas present for my neighbor they had it great store great service
Very helpful record store going above and beyond getting me something sent to the UK. Really appreciate the help and great to deal with.
Great selection of records, get ready to drop a lot of money in this store because of the amount and quality of records they have. I love this record shop.
Super cool record shop! They also host some really great local artists and bands for concerts out back.
What an awesome record shop. Great selection and in a really cool old house.
Highly recommend this shop!
@wanderlustmoonduo
Love this place to buy vinyl!
A great local record store! Cozy shop, good selection, fun in-store shows, and run by real good guys - always friendly and helpful. An asset to the neighborhood.
Record store converted in a home! Very helpful in making local recommendations too. Worth going back to when in East Nashville.
Relatively new owner is really helpful and friendly. Great selection and definitely worth regular patronage. I just wish we lived closer!
