Very impressed with this store. Employees are very helpful and knowledgeable about any and all questions I asked. I have no talent and do not play any instruments, but my son is an amazing guitarist and practically lives at Guitar Center playing, it is like Disneyland to my son. I was there picking up equipment for my boyfriend and was helped right away, making it an easy shopping trip. Thank you to the employees of this Guitar Center, it was a pleasure shopping here.

This review is not a 5 star because of the place; the manager Alec actually ignored my sister and I for quite a bit and has terrible customer awareness or relative understanding of satisfaction. This is a 5 star review for Dan, the representative who worked with my sister and I to get us checked out. Dan, you’re amazing and my sister loved your humor and said you reminded her of Jack Black when you talked about when you first purchased your guitar. Thank you for your urgency, assistance with making sure we grabbed a quality guitar, and overall commitment to being above and beyond as a salesperson. After standing in the Acoustic guitar section for 15+ minutes, we had yet to find a rep that would assist us with sizing and finding a good fit. Alec had been on the phone with a boss chatting about how slow sales were for approximately 5 mins as we strolled walking around in front of him. After the 5 minutes, I approached him to ask for some assistance in which he was little to no help. This led me to walk out in which Dan, standing behind the counter, asked if we needed any assistance. This led us to finding out the guitar we wanted was not in the best possible condition, leading us to buy a different alternative. My sister, having questions about differences within the guitars and their straps had all of her concerns met by a representative with an in-depth understanding of how the products worked and a willingness to engage. Thank you to Dan (but not you Alec) for making this guitar purchasing experience one i happily sought an opportunity to write about!

I’ve been to more guitar centers than I care to honestly remember and hands down this location should be their flagship (the sun has set on sunset in Hollywood) I received the best customer service I’ve ever encountered at a guitar center and maybe the best in my entire life. Michael the manager invested his time in resolving an issue that I could not get the manufacturer to fix. He didn’t have to, he could have sent me down the road like another GC did, glad they sent me to Sherman Oaks. They did not have make things right, they did, and really made my day. Thanks to Michael and all of his extremely knowledgeable staff for putting a giant smile on my face.

Yeah, Guitar Center. Well. In the sixties, I lived pretty close to their flagship in Hollywood; even had lunch next door at the Sunset Grill. In the seventies, I lived walking distance from the upstart in Sherman Oaks. Now when I go, however, something has changed. Exactly what has changed, I don't know. Maybe it's me.

Most of the employees here are caring and will take time to help. The store is good at having what you want. This visit was for a guitar pedal that was $20 more elsewhere-- though usually, their prices are closely aligned. So, why only 3 stars? Message to GC: Your curbside pickup in Sherman Oaks is $#@! The curbside pickup of the Sherman Oaks store is ridiculous. I have used it three times (but not again...). I have the texts to show it was 25-20 minutes wait each time. The orders were smaller than a shoebox. Good, though busy, store. But, don't use the curbside pickup.

Let me just start by saying I Live less than 2 miles from Guitar Center, Hollywood. I refuse to go into that store after over 10 bad experiences there. I go to guitar center quite a bit not to look or return but to actually buy things. The last six months or so I’ve been using Guitar Center Sherman Oaks. from Hollywood to Sherman Oaks obviously is less convenient than 2 miles but the service there is that much better. Shane helped me out recently with a new guitar purchase. I’ve purchased one guitar kept it for two days played it and realized it wasn’t for me I went back in less than 30 minutes I was in and out of the store with the guitar I wanted. Shane was great and super understanding. I highly recommend you ask for him when you go. Everyone writes bad reviews and I could honestly write 10 of them for guitar Center of Hollywood but Shane service was outstanding and he deserves a great review. Thank you Shane.

Honestly, I'd almost always rather take my money to a small shop, but sometimes, Guitar Center is just easier and faster. Usually I'm stopping by for strings, lem oil, a strap, a cable, etc. Today, I needed a wall hanger for my uke. $18, in and out. This place is great, absolutely perfect for new musicians with questions. There's always plenty of staff around and they are very knowledgeable in what they sell. You won't find "high school" band or "symphony" instruments, but if you've ever heard a Yes album, just about any of the sounds they made can be reproduced with a little trip to Guitar Center.

Went to Guitar Center to purchase some Roland Electric drums. "Guy" who apparently is head of the drum department, wasn't a very nice guy to me. I had the feeling he didn't want to help me because he thought I wasn't serious about buying anything. Granted I was wearing a back pack, but no one should ever judge someone by what they are wearing. Point proven, I waited for him to leave then asked someone else to help me, and I ended up spending a little over $7,000 on gear that night. Retail stores, stop judging people by their choice of attire.

I bought more than one guitar here, first for myself, then for a friend. In the store, the seller explained everything competently, showed various options, played different instruments. Tune and change strings for greater convenience. I'll be back for my next guitar. Also gave a cover as a gift

Amazing store. Went if you grab a travel ukulele for my trip (from Australia).Had to return 3 times in 2 days before I decided on my Uke. If I played guitar more I may have taken weeks. U get my drift. Great service. Very busy, but still take time to make sure your looked after, highly recommend

The Good: Very nice variety of instruments from cheap to expensive. Public restroom. Decent parking in back. Sales staff, managers, and security staff always polite. The Bad: EXTREMELY DEMANDING and SUFFOCATING sales staff. Yes, absolutely, most seem to be nice and knowledgeable people and musicians but they do not know when to stop probing you and following you around the store. Very uncomfortable environment. I have asked others about this, it's not just me. No doubt this is a very difficult economy for everyone on top of the fact that Guitar Center is in dire financial straights. They need to make their money. I get it. So many of us want to be a great customer for you. THE SALES PRESSURE AND FOLLOWING US AROUND THE STORE KILLS THE BUYING MOOD!

I went with my son to replace his acoustic, the first one was destroyed while at college. Nevertheless the experience was one I enjoyed. Other customers were interesting, but the staff was... Are exceptional. I ask so many questions about matters not regarding my son's purpose. Patience, respect and regard for the produce being sold. We left spending more than anticipated... Well worth every penny.

Made some money off crypto and went to upgrade what became my whole set up: new amp, multi-effects board, recording equipment, new bass. Their sale rep Toby did a great job identifying some selections to fit what I was looking for. Decided to return the recording equipment a few days later because I forgot my podcasting mic can handle most of work, and I am still an amateur after all. I had already thrown out the box, the receipt, etc. A 10% restock fee, but no issues returning just the equipment. Decided I wanted another guitar, bumped into Toby, who again gave me a great range of choices and good arguments for and against each selection. The PRS 245 SE with that multi effects board is sick

Went to Guitar Center in Sherman Oaks. Greeted immediately and helped by Joe. I was attempting to sell 2 guitars as I had just been gifted a new Telecaster . Wasn’t sure how I would be received trying to sell 2 older guitars. Joe immediately put me at ease me by he showing interest and enthusiasm .Hanging out with him for the next 1/2 hour or so resulted in me getting a great deal on a used Yamaha for my daughter. I also got a fair trade in for my old Ibanez. While helping other customers he also returned to check in with me and assisted in helping me purchase strings; finding a charger for my Boss pedal, as well as parts for my saxophone mouthpiece. Joe knows his stuff and was so friendly to my wife and I that we left the store super happy! We will definitely be retuning for all of our guitar needs.Thanks Joe for all your help!

I'm not a serious guitar player. My strings were well overdue for a change, so I took it in. Not only did Joe change my strings for me, but he identified a few problem areas on my guitar. One day later, I walked out with a practically new guitar...this guitar I've had for years is suddenly playing SO much nicer! Thanks to Joe, I'll be spending a lot more time with this guitar. Not much has changed at Guitar Center but that's not a bad thing. I wish their used section had more to look through, not their fault though. Staff were nice. Since I'm old now I don't get the "better than you" attitude I got way back in the early 90s when I was a young long haired stoner with a Metallica shirt.

I'm a novice to recording at home using DAW and was looking for some gear to fill out my studio. The folks at Guitar Center were knowledgeable and fun to work with. They kept me from buying something I thought I needed and didn't laugh at my inexperience. I'll certainly be back if/when I feel the need to expand.

Great place for your instrument needs. Took my Gibson guitar for a new set of strings and got up-sold a check on the guitar. I took the upsell and paid $60 instead of $25 for the string replacement. It was worth the money, strings are nice and tuned, bridge and base was cleaned and the action on the strings was lowered. Feels and looks like a new guitar.

Amending my previous review. Got screwed by a tech at another location had a nightmare experience with a brand new Ibanez that unfortunately went unnoticed until I arrived at this guitar center location. After coming to an understanding with me jack and the manager completely fixed my guitar and the issues I had at other guitar centers prior.

I had the pleasure of visiting your store Monday afternoon, June 7, 2021. Your employee named Shane was very professional and helpful on the phone and in the store. Because I was only about two hours post eye surgery, I was wearing an eyepatch and was forbidden by the surgeon from lifting anything more than 10 pounds. Shane was very helpful and removed the Epiphone Les Paul guitars that I was interested in off of the rack and placed them on guitar stands near me so that I wouldn’t have to lift beyond the prescribed 10 pounds. I ended up trading a Stratocaster guitar and an Orange amp for the amazing Mustang Fender amplifier and an awesome Les Paul guitar. Even though I felt like a dorky pirate with my eyepatch and inability to lift much of anything, Shane was constantly helpful and non-complaining about every part of the transaction. Thank you for providing excellent service and equipment and for having the integrity to hire high class individuals like Shane. My only regret is that I live in Arizona and won’t be able to visit your fine store on a regular basis! Thanks again, Shane, you are the MAN!

Beautiful equipment and guitars from $300. to over $8,000. for some electrics on display. Unfortunately, this store doesn't have any of their speaker equipment hooked-up. I went to compare a few of the speakers that they have on display, but no luck. So I tried the smaller Monitor speaker room, but again...nothing connected for listening. The staff explained that with the whole Covid thing...things are in disarray, and not hooked-up. So...your equipment caught Covid also, or what does that mean? Not many sales happening? That's like putting the nail in you own coffin, isn't it? Its one thing to accept one's fate, but entirely another to aid and allow a negative pending fate.

Always enjoyed visiting the Guitar Center in Sherman Oaks, CA, it's an amazing place to go to look for that perfect instrument for just about any type of player. The GC was my first job when I moved to Los Angeles in 1986. The store was much smaller then. It's a Goodwill store now. Whenever I visit the Guitar Center I spend hours trying out everything. I wish I could buy everything in the store I love music so much. They have a great selection, so many types of great brands of all instruments. The sales people are friendly and knowledgeable.

I've been here a few times, but was just intimidated to really look at anything or ask any questions. I don't know anything. it was only once the pandemic hit that I though I should actually learn how to play an instrument. I bought a Guitalele (Yamaha). I read some things and after talking to some people, I elected to NOT use any prepaid order online for fear of it messing up. So I am not rating that at all-I didn't use it. I went and stood in line and waited in the sun, 6 feet from others. It took some time, but once I was in it was a breeze. I honestly thought I would get scoffed at or something for not buying a real instrument and instead everybody was SUPER excited for me and really encouraging. For that reason, I've gone back to buy my first guitar. Bought it a couple of days ago. First, we went in and Joe helped us. Joe answered so many of my questions and got me on the right track to know what I should be looking for. My sister bought a little Uke that day (sweet little thing, too!). I ended up going in when Joe wasn't there. Erik (receipt says Erik A B) helped me. He was younger than me (I'm in my 40s), so that kind of made me feel dumb asking this "kid" questions at first. But Erik was equally as excited for me to be buying my first guitar. He listed to what I wanted and had me play a few. I ended up with another Yamaha. It is just so beautiful sounding to me. It was absolutely not a high dollar guitar but to me it was a huge purchase. We ended up also getting accessories like a soft case (really nice) and strap and such. Thank you guitar center--you guys have been really really great and I'm very thankful to feel like I can go somewhere and get help. At one point I went to a "custom" repair place on Magnolia in Noho/Burbank to buy strings and felt like I was a nuisance to the guy and his wife and his 2 small children, who were very weirdly not wearing any masks. So I'm glad to have a good option of better selection so I never have to go back to that place that shall not be named. Thanks Joe and Erik. You've made a dude happy enough to come back and write a million word review.

Understandably with everything that has been going on, it's been hard to find certain items, let alone find out when said items would be restocked. But both Sherman Oaks AND Westlake Village locations gave their 100% and helped me find what was an impossible item to find 😄 Now I have a beautiful brand new M-Audio interface, and I couldn't be happier! I love that a music store still exists. I used to not like it here but it is pretty awesome. Real musicians work here and are very helpful. The prices are pretty incredibly inexpensive probably because of Chinese made stuff but whatever. There are high end items as well but seeing Americans are so cheap you have to carry the cheap stuff too. I have bought a few guitars here over the years as well as drumheads, microphones, strings, disco lights, monitors, stands, record players, and I still have most of the stuff many years later so obviously they are a great service!

I’ve bought a lot of gear here and I have to say the staff is always helpful. Not every GC has the best upkeep on their equipment but these guys take great care of their stuff, and everyone who’s helped me has been very attentive and knowledgable regarding their equipment, and willing to look up anything they don’t know, which is rare. Wow this guitar store has everything. So many instruments I don't know where to start. All the brand names. New , used and vintage. Electric to acoustic guitars, basses banjos, ukuleles, mandolins, all the necessary accessories, good drum section and great selection of keyboards . The prices are really low. The associates are friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful.

Purchased a Martin acoustic guitar from them that turned out to have some issues cosmetically and also with playability. My initial buying experience at this store was, shall we say, less than stellar. Customer Service/Sales Manager Jordan reached out later the same day of my purchase to find out why I'd left unhappy. I will spare everyone the details. The basics boil down to the inexperience and foolishness of the young employees that sold me the guitar, coupled with what I suspect is a general lack of sales training for lower level sales associates at these stores due to relatively high turn over among entry level personnel. Suffice to say that Jordan, working with Adam Dodson at the Hollywood store, quickly and professionally moved to resolve everything and I left the Hollywood location yesterday with an identical, but superior and issue-free example of this fine Martin guitar. My original reaction to the negative experience I had was a vow to never again enter another Guitar Center. The level of service and professionalism Jordan exemplified leaves me fully confident that I will continue shopping at this, and other, Guitar Center stores. I am grateful that I can now walk away from the whole experience feeling good about owning and playing this guitar for years to come. Thank you! Good save!!!

Talk about a dream experience, of course I was around when the 1st Guitar Center opened in Hollywood and now we have this spectacular one in The Valley in so many other places. Quick, Professional, Understanding GO HERE! I came in and originally bought a 6-string acoustic Capo for a whopping $17.79! I thought that was kind of high so I went back and asked to get the price matched. The employee that helped me was really attentive and I was given back the difference in full. Pretty decent selection of musical instruments. When you go in, it seems they have a huge selection, but if you research online, you'll likely find the right guitar for you that is different. In my case, I was in the market for a 5 string bass esp f105 which is fairly highly recommended online, but they didn't have it. Regardless, going to guitar center is always a great experience. I love trying out different guitars and amps. And they always have a nice place to play drums too. Staff is always helpful. And there's free parking in the back.

Guitar center is currently going through some rough times and the state of this location definitely attests to that fact. I recently purchased a digital drumset through their website and stopped in for a new set of sticks. The drum department had no personnel and the digital drumsets were dimlyit and some (the roland td-17 in the far corner) was falling over, nearly touching the floor. Despite the run down appearance of the drum departmenr, i selected my sticks and found someone in the keyboard department to check me out, which was fine. If you know what you need, stop on by. Otherwise, i would recommend shopping online.

I love Guitar Center and the Sherman Oaks store is really the crown jewel. While I I Cassi like quieter stores like Northridge... they just can’t compare to the inventory of a store like Sherman Oaks. You’ve be able to see and play top level guitars.

I've seen a lot of guitar stores, from coast to coast. I realize this is apart of a chain, but this is a good store. Legitimately. The people who work in this particular store are knowledgeable, cool, and do not try to sell you stuff. Sometimes they hang on the floor playing the axes even when they are off duty. (These ppl can be very helpful as they usually just give you their honest opinion.) Ask questions of the salespeople. Tell them what your goals are. Talk to the other patrons - many of them will be professional musicians or know that much, at this store. I picked my new Nashville Telecaster based on such advice from employees and fellow customers. Tell them you want the best guitar you can get without breaking the bank - they understand that concern. I had the Tele set up here. I wasn't totally happy with the set up after playing it at home, brought it back and for no charge had the right adjustment made to make me totally happy. The only thing you can do wrong here is not ask questions - they won't try to up-sell you. Good luck getting your new axe.

I used to love this store but this time my experience was not so great. First of all, upon entering the store, this guy asks to look into our bag and purse. I'm thinking I just got here so why do you need to check my bag? This was the first time they check your bag upon arriving. Then I couldn't find anyone who I can ask for help in finding a small part to fix my electric guitar. After wandering around all over the store, I finally found a guy who hurriedly pointed me in the right direction. After more searching, I finally found the part I needed so that's a plus but the lack of customer service and the not so friendly greeting at the door had me feeling disappointed here. I order a digital piano from another store and had it sent to this the store in Sherman Oaks... After a frustrating serious of calls where people seem to be unsure of where my piano ended I decided to go into the store. It seemed helpless until I came across the manager Nathan who was more than helpful. He found the piano in the back and took it out for me to check it out. I wasn't going to pick it up right away because i was waiting for my paycheck to come through; however he still went through the trouble taking it out and letting me test it out (noting that it was packaged and that undoing the package made a mess). See that ...you just got asked a question and no doubt began thinking of an answer. Did you think of a nice answer or one filled with bitterness and sarcasm ? Well that really says a lot about you and not a thing about Guitar Center. Obviously your self obsessed. Go look in the mirror if your so fascinating. I don't care what weird stuff you're into . what I do know is you clearly don't carw about guitar center or you would have said something by now. Hold on a second while I drink some mountain dew.....anywho I turned 51 today and after eating chicken fried steak for breakfast at Toms in burbank I went to guitar center and immediately went to the bathroom. All the coffee and thick country gravy greased up my rusty tunnel and i was off to the races. I hold it in as long as i can bevsuse the toilet at my house is about to fall through the floor. It rocks back and forth and squirts and leaka water out the back. All tbose things tend to give me anxiety so I prefer to go to guitar center and actually enjoy gods evil joke. Manys a time I've driven past a guitar center and thought to myself man i bet it sucks working there. Today some Neil Young look alike was playing a guitar and all I could think about was putting lamb up his butt. That says more about me than you. But it also speaks volumes about Neil young. Look its real simple ...Guitar center is probably rhe closet thing you'll come to a music store called cello center . even The Banjo Barn sells mic stands so who cares. Does their toilet rock back and forth dangerously like mine. How would you know? To busy thinking about your self.
