I have only come here twice, but Eric is always super attentive, detailed, and polite. Even when I've brought a lower-level guitar, he treats it like a top-of-the-line instrument. He goes over his plans with you before he gets started and then goes over what he did when you come to pick it up. This is someone who cares about making instruments sound and play their best and making their owners proud.

Eric is the real deal… I had him make a new nut and saddle for my Gs mini as well as a full setup and man it is the best work I’ve ever seen! Truly an amazing job. Everyone in that shop is funny, kind and inviting, taking time on your instrument, and explaining in detail how things work and how you can get your instrument to play how “YOU” like it. I would say that’s what sets this place apart. They focus on you as a player and what you like. I couldn’t recommend this place enough if you are a professional musician or have a very particular preference on how your guitar should play this is the place to do it.

I can't say enough good things about this shop! I couldn't be happier with their service. Eric and crew should be a no-brainer for anyone looking to service or repair their guitars. I'm a relative beginner with guitar playing, and my electric guitar was making some strange noises. I first took it to guitar center. They "fixed it" but didn't actually fix it. I then took it to Eric. He and crew were super friendly and patient with me, explained to me what they were going to do, took care of it quickly, fixed the problem completely and charged me a very fair price for their excellent service. I will definitely be taking all of my guitar's here in the future!

I brought my Edge signature Strat into Eric's for a setup and to change the white accessories to black to match the Edges 73 Strat. When I saw the list of previous clientele Eric has done work for, I felt so dumb. Being around someone with that level of skill is really imtimidating. Not only did Eric do a pro set up on my guitar but he made my son and I feel comfortable and welcome. The mark of a true professional. This dude is a cut above the rest. Thanks for an excellent job!

I've been taking my guitars to Eric for the better part of a decade now, and he's always taken exceptional care of my instruments, so I figured the least I could do was write him a review. If, for whatever reason, you're not already bring your guitars to his shop for a setup then you've just found your new go to. Eric and Billy are truly both masters of their craft and are very passionate about what they do. Just got back from picking up my Strat from him in the last hour. Right when you walk in, Eric takes your guitar and instantly starts taking string measurements and let's you know where your action is at (and where it should be at) and then gets a feel for how your guitar should be setup specific to your play style and preference. He's is the MAN and he knows his craft better than anyone, so I always trust him and go mostly off his recommendation. On top of it all, Eric is just one of the coolest and most sincere people I've met, and there's been a few times I've gone in to drop off/pick up a guitar and hung around to talk to him for a good hour. Oh, and your guitar is going to play like butter when Eric and Billy are done with it. You'll feel like a wee lad on Christmas morning getting your instrument back. Thanks again guys!

This place is amazing. This is where to take your guitar when anything goes wrong with it. These two gentlemen treated me not only professionally but like I was a superstar myself. Very thoroughly explained everything and very reasonably priced. Made my guild sound like a brand new guitar again. It was buzzing in the middle frets so I knew I had some adjustments required but I don't know how to do that. They went completely over the guitar, cleaned it up and I think waxed it and it looks and sounds like new. Look no further you found THEE place to take your guitars.

I've been playing for 50 years and rarely use a tech to set up an electric guitar but the guitars always play better when he does it! Had them do fret work on a jazz guitar that now plays like "butter". Brought a 1930's epiphone that needed a little work to make it viable again. Eric was patient with me as I was trying to decide if I wanted to do the work. Even though he was really busy I didn't feel like I was wasting his time.

Eric's Guitar Shop are absolute masters at fixing and modifying guitars!! Not only that, but he is HONEST and upfront in his business practices!! I had a short in my wiring that just needed a fix, but after hearing I was unhappy with how my volume and tone knobs were responding, they modified it at no extra charge. eric chaz does great work, is incredibly detail oriented and cares about making sure you are happy. located in the sound city facilities in van nuys, you have to park a little uphill but eric’s shop is easy to find. you will find he often has customers in line but that’s normal because eric doesn’t rush you through the process. he takes time to find out what YOU want. the quoted wait times are always accurate and there is a large room for you to inspect the work and play/plug in after it is done. super reasonable prices. fast turnaround.

If a guitar is a loved one, and that guitar isn't feeling well, you want to feel that they receive the best care when given over to someone who heals them. Eric was that for me, but no longer. I have brought Eric numerous guitars, and have really appreciated the time, care and service that went into the setup that he performed, except the last one. I brought him a craiglist purchased tele that had problems, problems that weren't addressed by Eric. He always has the player sit down and try out the guitar before they take it home. In a massive aberration, this guitar felt weird. When I switched pickups the neck was extremely quiet. The bridge didn't sit right, and I just didn't like it. I brought it over to Eric, who started to inspect it, and he realized that the bridge pickup wasn't put in correctly. He inquired from the tech, who seemed brand new, and they realized that they hadn't put in the spacers around the pickups, so that it doesn't just recede into the guitar. I stood around, thinking, why didn't he check this himself before handing it over? This isn't Eric's Tech's Guitar Shop. If Gordon Ramsey was here working the expo line, he'd make sure that the bisque was properly salted, wouldn't he? This my friends, wasn't even the worst of it. I took it back to the room, started playing the telecaster again. This is a Japanese made, official Fender product, and the neck pick up just sucked. Quiet, I mean, barely audible. I said, "Eric, this pick up, I can barely hear it, what's wrong with it?" His reply, "Well, they're just really quiet pickups sometimes." Wrong answer Eric. At that moment I felt very brushed off, but didn't have the wherewithal to call him out on his dismissive response. I took the guitar home, bought new pick ups, wiring kit, pick up switch, soldering gun and more, and put in two brand new pick ups. Lo and Behold, the guitar sounded great. Loud, boisterous, impressive. Eric never should have handed that guitar over, and he should have checked it before it was finished. I needed him to tell me, that neck pick up sucks, and you should change it out. And you should change this selector switch because it sucks too. That was the last guitar I ever brought Eric, even though he had performed quite a few very fine setups. The trust was broken. I suppose in the end, I learned a valuable skill, how to solder, since I hadn't done that before. A silver lining I suppose. If you take your guitar to Eric, more likely than not, it'll be a perfect experience, but, for me, it just wasn't. I now take my guitars elsewhere for setup and upkeep, and it honestly just makes me feel better.

Eric and Jai(y) are definitely the guys you want to see . I came in to get bare knuckle pickups routed into my Majesty and lo and behold they did not fit, Eric milled out a cavity specific to the pickup and it looks amazing. Afterwards we spent a good two hours going back and forth messing with my action to get my setup just how I wanted it. After 2 days I found that my guitar had a bit of hum and didn't know what the problem was, went into see Eric and the problem was fixed within a minute of being there. I later adjusted the action a little more and everything is just where I want it, I wouldn't go anywhere else. Excellent service.

I had a really strange static crunch thing going on with my Strat after getting it "professionally set up" every time I touched the pickgaurd with my hand while playing it made a crazy crunching sound. Well even the guy who set it up couldn't figure it out and told me to play without touching it..lol Anyway after stumbling onto Eric's guitar shop I decided to call about 5 min before closing time and Eric picked up and was very courteous and patient while I explained my problem. Without a beat he said before you bring it in and waste your money, try rubbing a dryer sheet on the pickgaurd and that should do it. Viola! problem solved. I was so happy and even more happy that I found a trustworthy guy who could've taken my money and charged me to rub a dryer sheet on my guitar! Thanks Eric you just gained a new customer!!

There is an air of paranoia to enter the facility, requiring being buzzed in from an intercom from an upstairs parking structure. This is understandable given the undesirable location of the business. The repair price services are high as is customary in the San Fernando Valley. I can get the same work done in Los Angeles and East Los Angeles for less and in safer neighborhoods than this gang-infested one. The owner is passionate about his work otherwise I would give this one instead of three stars.
