Been-Around records is nothing short of a cultural institution in Little Rock. Though John, the proprietor, is far too humble to own that claim. Over the decades, it has been a constant source for rare finds reasonably priced. More significantly, it has intentionally curated music of importance that would have been inaccessible before digital distribution. I found records on my last visit that were unexpected. I was surprised to see that the prices were much more reasonable than the current bubble of vinyl prices. It may take longer than expected to find something. But it is worth digging to find buried treasure.

Small and cluttered. I was looking for vinyl records. He seemed to have mostly 70s music. Did not have anything I was looking for. The good thing about this place are the prices. You actually get a deal here unlike a different record store in LR we visited.

This place is a local store that has a large cult following. Store is amazing, owner friendly and helpful. I have been a patron of this store for 25 years. I would have never been able to afford or hear 80% of the music i was able to enjoy because of been around. I would say if you are into Vinyl than it is a must to go check out

The owner of the shop is full of the exact type of character one would expect from the classic culture of a record store. With an excellent selection as well as fair and reasonable prices in the sale, exchange and purchase. One hopes that the added culture is appreciated by the locals and shown by their continued business.

The gentleman who owned the store was extremely kind and helpful! We were looking for specific albums by Chicago to complete our collection and he was nice enough to find 3 of them and hold them for us. Will definitely be returning for future purchases! WOW......Very impressed with the enormous amount of vinyls and even more impressed with the knowledge from the man behind the counter. I was able to find just what I was looking for and very happy with my purchased items. Don't let the shelves of vinyls intimidate you.....enjoy the search!!!! Definitely will be back for more.

They have a very large selection of vinyl and cd’s, and the prices are fair. The owner is very nice, helpful, and knowledgeable. I planned to stop by for a few minutes and spent over an hour looking around. I will definitely be back the next time I’m in Little Rock.

Amazing place!! Shop owner is SO NICE & the prices are great. Everything is super organized (just don’t be lazy) and he even tests out the records before you leave. Love it & we’ll definitely be back!

As other reviewers have noted it is small. And it is definitely cluttered. Think wall to wall shelves of vinyl plus piles of stuff on the floor that can't fit into the shelves. I didn't nearly go through everything in my first visit, but most things I saw were from the 1920s up through the 1980s. Most stuff was from the 60s and 70s from what I saw, but I don't personally count that as a knock as that's precisely why I sought the store out in the first place. Fair prices for used vinyl.

I went here for the first time on Saturday and I nearly emptied my bank account. If you're like me and have odd taste in music you will surely find something here! The place was a little crowded but it looked like he was restocking his shelves with new merchandise which is always a good sign! Love this place!

Awesome record store!! John is a great guy and is willing to help if needed. But he also knows to just "let you browse" and is not a "salesmen" ! Great selection and fair pricing. One of my two go to stores for vinyl!!

Tons of records. The organization isn't great but part of the fun is spending time and finding that hidden gem. The prices are awesome and the owner is very fair, and also very knowledgeable. This place is the place to go for used vinyl. The prices make the other place in NLR look like a thief. My go to place for vinyl.

I've now visited this little old store twice and spent a good bit of my time just trying to absorb the amount of stuff there is crammed inside. Been-Around Records & CD's offers an ample selection to satisfy most of the potential customers that walk through the door. Not only is there selection, but the service is wonderful. The owner seemed very eager to help me find what I was looking for upon me asking, but he also just let me get down to the nitty-gritty and dig through the plethora of, DVD's, CD's, cassettes, and vinyl to my heart's content. That said, the main thing that bothers me is the overall visual experience. Upon entering, one will see that is an absolute cluttered mess! I believe the owner could generate a lot more traffic and increase revenue if he would simply take a day off to clean the place out of all of the distractions, such as the records piled in droves on the floor taking up much of the walking room, the hanging Christmas lights, and all of those empty cassette cases at the register. If he wanted to go above and beyond, it would also be beneficial to better organize the vinyl records, as it is initially rather confusing to find what you are looking for and literally requires an explanation of how it is set up.

I bought my 1st used record from Been Around Records in 1982. John Harris is a Little Rock treasure. Cds, vinyl, videos and even cassettes that you thought you would never see again at good ol' Been Around!!!

Love this place, got a great deal on a mint original copy of in the court of the crimson king. only problem i have is there are so many records i have trouble reading what is what, but that's not really a problem. John usually has an idea where something will be if you specifically ask.
