I have an old portable analog synthesizer from the 80's called a Suzuki OmniChord. One day, my kids ran through the power cord and then the spot it plugs into for power would only work if you pressed on it just right and had the cord pinched just so. I had brought it to guitar center to get it looked at but they weren't able to help me. However, one of the guys there recommended I go to Rogue Planet Music because they have a guy who works on old amplifiers and electric instruments and such. John fixed it for me on the spot in just a few short minutes. While I was waiting, I wandered around their store and I was amazed at the collection and variety of vinyl albums in stock. The other side of the store has vintage clothing and with only about three items to choose from my daughter found a cute little flower shirt that I ended up getting for her. Thanks John, I'll make an appointment sometime to see if you can get the battery power to work and make it truly portable again.

The best used record store in town without any of the pretentiousness of new record shops. Drop in, listen to some good music, take home some fun records, repeat!

Pleasantly surprised by this local record shop. Casual atmosphere. They usually keep a small yet interesting mix of used vinyl out in the store. Used new arrivals are teased on social media. Adding it to my list of spots in town to follow and pop in now and again.

This guy appears to have taken the place of Tri Point just around the corner. I took my vintage Twin Reverb amp in and he had it back up and running in less than an hour. I recommend John as he was trained under Jeff, the owner of Tri Point.

This is the best record store in town. Unfortunately, the long-haired guy is less than welcoming. Each time I have been in while he was working, he's made it quite clear that helping customers is a distraction from the hipster hobnobbing he'd been doing prior to your attempt at a capitalist exchange of goods.He is lucky his record shop is hipper than he is. Otherwise, I'd shop elsewhere. The other guy is cool. His pleasant demeanor makes up for the long-haired dude's lack of interest in his customers.

Love this place! They have a smaller selection than other Des Moines area shops, but the overall quality level of the selection is MUCH higher. The owner is pretty cool too and quite knowledgeable. I challenge anyone to visit this store and not leave with at least one or two albums!

There are some really great record shops in Des Moines, but it didn’t take long for this one to become my favorite. Exceptional selection, very fair prices, always great condition, friendly & knowledgable staff. Plus the thrift store and art studio that share the space are also awesome. Get some tasty food at La Mie or The Cheese Shop across the way, then swing on over to RPM.

These boys know their records. Get yourself down to Rogue Planet Music, you will not be disappointed. They had everything from rare Stones and Zeppelin to Haggard and Hank. I bought five records for myself and three for my wife. What a lovely addition to the neighborhood!

Great record store! Every time I go in the selection is expanded. Good mix of staples and rarities. All records are cleaned in house. A must stop in the Des Moines area.

Awesome shop!! It's a must see!!! Also a vintage clothing store, art gallery and ceramics studio in same building!! So many cool things in one location! Look for the green Five Monkeys sign, on Chamberlain across 42nd from Roosevelt Shopping Center! Right off the freeway 42nd street exit! CHECK IT OUT!!!!!!!!!!
