best selection of new vinyl in Denver. the people who run the shop clearly know music and stock a wide range of classic cuts across all genres, including experimental and esoteric stuff that's hard to find elsewhere. staff is friendly and always helpful, if you can't find something on the shelf, ask: it might be in backstock, or they might be able to order it. the complaints about prices are funny- everything I've found has been very reasonable, even items that are OOP or rare. of course collectible items in the used shop go for collectible prices, not sure why people are surprised by that.

Wax Trax is the greatest vinyl shop in Denver, it is easy to see why they have stood the test of time and are still very much in business. The staff is wonderful, helpful and curious about your music styles and generally very helpful. I look forward to my weekly record store visits for the past 6 months and in the future.

Nice shop, getting parking kinda sucked but that's not thier fault, it just because it's downtown. There is a beat up empty lot just down the street from them that works. They had a solid selection and I found 2 vinyls for $10 cheaper than another shop I went to the same day. They have signage on the door but DON'T FORGET TO CHECK OUT THE USED STORE! They have 2 locations right next to each other, one for new and one for used records. Didn't talk to the staff much but they seemed nice when talking to other customers. Definitely gonna be coming back.

Marvelous record shop! Visiting Denver from Ohio for a concert and wanted to poke my head in for a second. Ended up staying in there for at least an hour. Great selections, new and used. They were even kind enough to offer sending it back via postage, because I wasn't sure how I was going to bring them back on the plane. Wax is my go-to! A Denver institution. Not the quickest on new releases, but eventually they’ll get stocked. I still go here for new vinyl but it’s also one of the best for used vinyl as they really specialize in it. Doesn’t hurt when they’ve been in the game for as long as they have. Including supporting some incredible Denver bands back in the day such as The Young Weasles. And I should promote this probably but... this is the best option for RSD.

Great store with tons of new Indie, rock, blues, metal and a separate store a couple doors over with a great used selection. I’m usually jaded being from Austin, we have some great record stores. But Wax Trax is the real deal, and friendly staff to boot. Highly recommended.

I went to the used store vs the new and it had a very large selection to choose from. I wanted to go to both stores but ran out of time. My only complaint is there wasnt a whole lot of punk albums and no ska at all that I could see. Overall great store, helpful employees, and outrageous selection. Would reccomend for sure.

They have the best prices on new vinyl compared to everywhere else I've been in the area, their staff is always friendly, and I like the vintage old school record store vibe this place has. I'd say this is easily the best record store in Denver.

They've never stopped selling vinyl and I love that they're being rewarded for that fidelity. Tremendous selection of used and new with knowledgeable and kind staff. Very helpful and forthright people. We had some old 78's that we found and wanted to sell them. Wax Trax was very upfront and explained that there is not much demand for 78's. They also explained that 78's are made of shellac rather than vinyl and don't hold up as well. They tried to find a buyer for us, but weren't successful, but very nice about it.

Really good selection and cool atmosphere. I had driven from Dallas all the way to Denver and my air bnb was near so I HAD to get a taste of the Denver music scene. This place was great. First of all it was HUGE so big that they have two separate stores for CDs and vinyl (don't worry they're right next to each other) but this place really gave me a taste of the Denver music scene and gave me some great picks for the ride back home.

Very good record store, and it's one of the few I know about. Good selection that gets updated often and has good prices. The staff are usually nice and quick to ring you up. The store isn't in terrible shape itself, and they have records from every genre. My only complaint would be that sometimes when you come in they play songs that are annoying or bad, but even then that's only some of the time. Very good place.

Wax Trax Records is the real deal, it's everything a great record store is supposed to be, in fact, if you Googled "record store images" Wax Trax would be at the top, if life were truly fair and just. If you were curious about what record stores in the late '70s, early '80's looked like, Wax Trax is a perfect example, a rare living thing preserved in amber and impervious to the passage of time. If you're looking for relatively obscure reprints of rock, roots, rap, soul or jazz records and CDs, I'm sure you'll find them here. This is a place that deserves hours of attention, there's a lot to go through here. Highly recommend.

This record store has the largest and most diverse selection I've ever seen. I went in expecting to not find a single thing. Within 10 minutes I was walking around with over 200 dollars of classic punk and punk rock records debating if it was financially wise to spend that much money. Go here to get lost in music heaven.

Authentic, been-around-for-decades type of store. It feels a bit dingy, but I don't think I'd like shopping for records in a sterile, boring environment. Dinginess is part of the character of the place. The second you walk in, you feel like you're in the right place. They have thousands of records, which seems overwhelming, but they are extremely organized. A great mix of new and used records. I stopped there this afternoon to pick up some Christmas records; Elvis Presley, Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole. Old records like that range from $4 to $8. Very affordable, and records are in great condition.

If you want something new this is your spot. If you want something old and love crate diving, this is your spot. I really only have 2 very small complaints with this store: a lack of rotating inventory (every visit feels the same) and a lack of quality older records. There is a ton of stuff packed into a very small space, which can make it hard to move around. This really isn't one of those places you can go and find everything on your list, but chances are your find something great. The layout is pretty easy to figure out with used and new on separate sides. Their used records selection leaves a lot to be desired. But they have a great selection of garage/indie/punk and metal.

If you like old-style music stores, this is it. Both the CD store and the vinyl shop have that underground music feel. Love the used records for nostalgia. Sometimes you can find some collectible, rare recordings. I could spend hours looking through everything they have. Prices are fair and in-line or better than you can get from online stores. Gotta ask for the Beatles box, it is worth a look.

Wax Trax has been around forever because they're so awesome. I've been a customer here for almost 20 years and still come back because their selection of vinyl is so impressive. Despite the fact that collecting vinyl has become so popular now, they still have an impressive collection of oldies and rarities. Over the years I have bought originals by Simon and Garfunkel, Pink Floyd, Cream and more. We recently got a live Smiths album and a rare demos version of Depeche Mode imported from Belgium, which were both fantastic! I really do miss Across the Trax though, there has never been such an awesome rock memorabilia store in Denver. I must say, that the hipster attitude seems to have gotten worse, lol. It's no big deal though, hopefully it will pass.
