I wait for a day off, hopefully on a weekend .. and hopefully no traffic to venture out this way for a visit. It's a great shop. And they're so helpful. I get my bows from here. They've got a ton of options at different price points. And if there is a room open. They'll lay out 10-20 bows for you to try out. They're so patient too. Thanks for the Bobelock case for my little friend. They're a match made in heaven.

We have been going to them for my daughter's violas for the last 3 years, and the experience has been very pleasant and seamless. Even though they are not the closest to where we live, we keep coming back to them. We have always been helped by in-store folks who feel like musicians first and salespeople second (if you know what I mean!). They know their instruments, are super patient, and have guided us well. Their trade in program is great, and also keeps us coming back!

Morey's Music is always a pleasure. We had to replace an A string on a violin, and the repair was completed quickly and on the house (we rent the instrument from them). They have extremely knowledgeable staff who are always quick with a smile and service. Their rental instruments are good quality, with options for upgrades if you'd like them. I've rented from Morey's for over 6 years, and been happy with everything they've ever done. Besides, they had two viola di gambas in the display case today. How cool is that? You cannot go wrong with Morey's Music for all your instrument rental needs.

Love this place, it's quiet, cozy place for great prices and amazing instruments equipment etcetera. The staff is equally quality, they were extremely helpful and quick to make your experience here a very pleasant one. I am in love with the location of this store too, tucked away like my very own hidden gem. I purchased a microphone cord for recording vocals because I am currently working on my first album and they directed me to the right stuff, we chit chatted for a second or two otherwise and I was out.. they knew my equipment back home and were very happy to help

Wow. If you need anything violn, cello, viola, or bass, this is the place. Also, saw guitars and bass guitars but was overwhelmed by the non guitar collection. Rented a violin for my eight year old daughter. Easy to do, friendly staff, took about 45 minutes. In business since 1927, you can feel confident your in experienced hands.

I noticed a large inventory of band and orchestra instruments, and they do repairs. The sign read "established in 1924" so they've been around a while.

Morey’s is the best music store I have experienced in my life. I’m not a profesional musician but they made me feel like I was one. I called them because I needed a bow and we set up an appointment for the next day. Once there, the seller had a room with an instrument and different kinds of bows. I was there like an hour trying them without a problem. The bow that I bought is a very good quality a the price was fantastic. Now I’m just waiting for Christmas because I’ll buy another one. The instruments are beautiful, the staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and it feels like I'm stepping into a conservatory when I walk through theor door. This is not a place to "try out every guitar in the shop". If you have a serious love for music, this is the place you want to be.

This music store has been around in Long Beach since the 1920s and is still family owned! They strive to meet all of your instrumental needs. If they do not have what you want they will certainly try and get it for you. They can also repair your instruments and have some fun items around as well like masks to wear during this covid time that have musical themes! it's a great shop it's also a place where you can practice playing some of the instruments before you purchase. Highly recommend a visit to Morey's music!

I don't know much about this place because I just visited it once while I was in town for a meeting. What I saw was very impressive. While fairly small in size, it contains an extensive selection of (mostly) orchestral instruments. There are separate showrooms for each group of instruments and it appears that they encourage serious customers to audition the pieces in a calm setting. The back of the store contains a large repair shop that is glassed in so that you can observe the technicians. Normally, I do not include this sort of thing in my reviews, but I must make an exception by mentioning that one of the sales personnel is a tall, absolutely gorgeous young woman with long light brown hair and sparkling eyes. She is simply too beautiful to avoid taking note. By the way, they did not have the accessory I was looking for, but they made a good recommendation to another store. If you are looking for a personal shopping experience, this family-owned shop is highly recommended.

The very kind gentleman that helped me with all my silly questions, that I haven't seen a mom and pop authentic music shop since I was a kid. Went in today to get strings for my new ukulele, as reviews I'd read online said that that particular model sounded better with different strings. The man who helped me at Morey's told me that my uke already sounded great and the strings it came with were top-notch. Then he helped me pick out two picks that I love. I really appreciate his honesty because anyone else might have just tried to sell me some strings. Will definitely return!

I came into this shop for the first time today. I was meeting a woman who would potentially be selling me a cello. The associates at this store... Go above and freaking beyond. I barely know how to describe it. The gentleman took the cello, tightened a string, tuned it (which looked like a struggle because this cello is pretty subpar - I truly commend him), and looked over it for any flaws that would impair the sound. He gave me his review of the instrument. All of this - he didn't charge me a dime. If I ever need another instrument (I'll hopefully be buying a better quality cello in September) I will be coming here. This place is twenty minutes from my house by freeway. I will happily pass every single one of the stores I'm familiar with seeing to give this store my business in the future. Sir, I did not catch your name. But your service was impeccable. You were efficient, helpful, and honest. The store is lucky to have you. If your associates are half as amazing as you were today (everyone in that store was friendly. Courteous nods, smiles, everything.) then this store has gotten a customer for life. I didn't have much of a look at their stock, but everything was neatly organized. If I'd needed to find something, I have no doubt it would have been short work to locate.

I've been a Morey's customer since my first cello when I turned 8. The customer service, extensive knowledge, and product selection are the best you'll find in the greater LA area. Lucky for me, I've always lived within a few minutes so heading over there was never an issue. As a music student at CSULB shopping at Morey's saved me tons of times, especially when it came to buying strings thanks to their great student discount program. Boy I sure do miss those days. Regardless, this is still the only music shop I'll ever be a patron of. In addition to sales they have amazing technicians who can fix instruments quickly and at a fair price. Morey's Luthiers have helped our son Gabriel to move from a low quality violin, to one that could help him all through middle school. They explained all we needed to know about cost-benefit as parents, in a easy to understand way. Moreover, Gabriel was able to tour the shop in the back of the store and learn about the fascinating work they do there. Each time we go there to fix the instrument or purchase parts, it feels like the old time stores, a calm place where you can trust the expertize of professionals dedicated to the art of music.

The frog on my son's cello bow was stuck with the hair still tightened after an outdoor performance. I was very worried. My son's cello teacher referred us to Morey's. When I phoned Monday morning, I was told that the shop's repair was backed up all the way till December due to a large repair job at the time. I asked to speak to Mr. Morey, who took me in the same day. He even glued a corner of the cello back on. I was so relieved! That Saturday, I got a call from them. Greg had fixed the bow. It was just in time for my son to attend a master class. He was very happy. They do a great job at Morey's, charge a fair price and everyone is courteous and professional. We're going back in December for more detailed repairs on the cello. They also have a good collection of cellos to choose from. That's a big factor for us to have chosen Morey's.

My finger board was smoothed out from having years of inconsistencies caused from ordinary use. Gerrit can change 4 strings in no time at all. I've read all the previous reviews and believed they were lacking cunstructive feedback. Both times I arrived at Moreys Music Store I was very pleased with the attitudes of all the employees that work there. Very humble and not judgmental. The store was clean and organized as expected in most entrepreneur sheet music stores you'll find. There customer service keeps me coming back, unfortunately, the focus on pianos, piano parts, piano repair, and keyboard repair is a almost non existent and I assume most likely do to the limited space, capacity, and customer traffic. Granted, they did refer me to, with business cards, where I can find the help I needed. Also they have plenty of trainers, for all levels of skill, for almost all modern instruments I've learned from one of the employees. This will be the only place I get all of my sheet music from in Lakewood/Long Beach area.

Just got back from my first trip to Morey's Music and I'm very impressed. I just moved to downtown Los Angeles after growing up and going to college in the midwest, so I was surprised to not find many music stores selling sheet music/scores in Southern California while searching online. As a professional collaborative pianist, I have to buy a wide variety of music (voice, instrumental, opera, etc.) and they had a great selection. I bought over $300 of scores and wished I could get even more from their fantastic selection. Plus, they had a section of 50% off music that had some good stuff as well. The service was friendly and helpful, but not in-your-face, which I appreciated. They greeted me and made sure I could find what I was looking for, and then let me browse (without lurking over my shoulder.) I saw them helping people who were unsure about what they needed and they were very knowledgeable about repertoire and printed music. After going to the JW Pepper warehouse in Norwalk without much success, it was nice to see a store that actually caters to students, amateurs, AND professionals. I saw they had a huge inventory of string instruments, music stands, accessories, cases, etc. as well.

The best place for OC residents to deal with string instruments. I probably helped 20+ students purchase their cellos here over the years and all of them turned out really well.. my students are still happily playing their instruments! Hooray! It's so easy to get ripped off on string instruments because people dont know the general price range for what kind of sound you are looking for... and it is totally heartbreaking when students come to me with cello shaped objects... =( but if rented/purchased thru Morey's, there is nothing to worry about. =]
