Bill’s is an amazing place to come hear bluegrass music! Hear great shows for only $5 or $10, bring your instrument to do some picking yourself, and enjoy the warm hospitality and family-friendly atmosphere. As a performing band, we absolutely loved playing here and can’t wait to come back in October!! (Headin’ Home Bluegrass) 🎸All the people here are the greatest. This music store is a little piece of history that Willie Wells is carrying on. 🎶

Very nice place to see some live old time Country music. People were very friendly and welcoming. You need to check it out if you love to dance too.

Great place to go on Friday nights to enjoy some good bluegrass music. You can also bring your instrument and join in a bluegrass jam. Open to all ages and all levels of playing ability.
jim patrick
Every Friday is Bluegrass night. Several local performers come to the stage and play for the first hour. Then the featured group takes the stage and performs for the next hour.
There is a small concession stand to sell snacks and drinks.
After the performance the place stays open for a jam session.

This place is one of my favorites! The music and the atmosphere were perfect

We were invited for some good old fashioned blue grass and country music on Friday nights- as my daughter has been taking my 91 year old aunt there fairly regularly as of late. The owner told me they do country gospel on Saturday nights. It is usually about $5 dollars to enter; However, when we attended the fee was $15 dollars as they had special bands come in that particular night. That band travels about and they have a fee they charge the business managers or owners, as well as the hopes of selling their music to the crowd. The band was very popular. Food is sold at counter along with soda and tea or coffee. Chips, popcorn and hot dogs seem to be on the menu and there are a variety of instruments and sheet music for sale. Family environment- though the adults do not exactly appreciate toddlers interrupting the entertainment. Out of respect for other guests, just as children acting up in a movie theater should be removed untill able to behave; Likewise, it is rude to allow children to distract the adults who paid for a nice evening of entertainment. I think it is a fairly safe place to enjoy yourself whether attending alone or with others. I would recommend this place to others with the understanding that it is for a certain music genre- thus the name, Bill's pickin' parlor.

A Columbia SC must-see. This is THE place for bluegrass music in the area. Friday concerts followed by Saturday classes that vary according to the schedule - beginners are more than welcome!

My husband and I went there for line dancing lessons and dancing to awesome music played by a DJ. The people there were so nice and we had a blast! I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys alcohol free, family friendly and wholesome fun.

I went to Bills to buy some cables for our church sound system. They did not have them . I needed them for the next service at church. Bill, told me to hold on and he went and brought me 4 cables out of his personal equipment and let me use them.
You do not find a place or person that will trust a stranger like he did. I took the cables back the and he would not take anything for letting me use them.
If you ever need some type of musical instrument or help with one ,Bill, is a great man to go to for your needs and also to hear some great MUSIC and friends
Thanks again for your help,
Carlus Randy Chavis

These folks are old school, tough-as-nails kind of people who would give you the shirt off their back! They know more than anyone in the area and are willing to share that with whomever asks in order to build, not only the bluegrass community, but musicians for all walks. The big chains are fine, but if you want dedicated service and some of the most beautiful instruments you can find, this place is now on your bucket list!

I've lived in the neighborhood for about 10 years I've passed by Bill's music shop quite a bit but I never stopped in. Tonight I was sitting home bored I was looking for something to do so I looked online for a music shop close by me because I play harmonica and like I said I was bored and I was looking for something to do and I walked in and lo and behold they had a country dance going and the band was really good the people were incredibly friendly especially Miss Louise we sat and talked for a few one of the nicest ladies I've met him many years she told me about how they opened the place back in 87 and I told her how the Lord saved my soul and has kept me from drinking for over 15 years. also they fed me they had a great spread of food going on. Anyway, I'm real glad I went and I'll go back for sure they told me they have open mic songwriters on Tuesday that sounds like something I'd like to do. I definitely hope that family is blessed forever

I gave my disabled brother guitar lessons with Brent. He's very good with my brother. Can't wait to attend a Friday night event or a Sat night concert. Louise, the owner, is a delightful person. So committed to carrying on the wonderful tradition of music that warms the heart and soul. Thank you for a delightful experience.

Always a wholesome environment and great music at Bill's, a venue the entire family can enjoy!! If you are an aspiring musician, bring your instrument and learn to play by jamming with amateur and professional musicians. Or, purchase an instrument to match your experience level and take lessons at Bill's. Or, if the only instrument you can play is the radio, come enjoy a chili dog and a ginger ale and listen to a variety of music!!

Buddy and I went to check out a jam session they have. I was pleasantly surprised at the warmth and friendliness shown to us. Great place to learn some new songs. Primarily, bluegrass and country. Neither are my favorites but as a budding guitarist I'm willing to try anything!
Robert Resurgent
Good old time music. Hot dogs and snacks are available.Chairs are less than comfortable. This is the place for learning and practicing strings instruments. Now offering dance lessons too. They take volunteer performers starting and end Fridays with an established bluegrass group.

Larry took my Breedlove and found fret issues, made me a bone saddle and repaired the fret issues. The guitar sounds and plays like a $3000 instrument now. Thanks Larry and Bill for providing excellent service and a consumer friendly atmosphere. A+++!

Great place to enjoy live music and groups. Sometimes there's profession groups that play. Then after 9:00. The pickers get to picking and singing songs. Anyone can join in

Took my son and another soldier by here after BCT graduation to check out guitars. Staff was very friendly and allowed them to have a little picking session on their afternoon off before shipping to AIT at another base. They both wished that they could have stayed until the Saturday stage night. I'm sure if either of them ever return to Ft Jackson, they will ensure to allow time for another trip to Bill's.
Josh Johnson
